Freddie Highmore is turning 27 today. Highmore began working as a child actor in the early 2000s, and first attracted notice when he was a SAG Award nominee for costarring in Finding Neverland. He then starred as Charlie Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and was the title character in August Rush.

In 2013 Highmore began transitioning to playing adult characters when he began starring as Norman Bates on A&E’s Bates Motel.


In 2017, Highmore began starring on ABC’s The Good Doctor as Dr. Shaun Murphy. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for the show’s first season. Season 2 is currently in progress, and it has been renewed for a third. In recent years, he starred in the comedy feature Almost Friends, and costarred in the political drama The Journey. He has also been reported to be developing a pilot for A&E about Baby Face Nelson.
