I thought it was really nothing more than a cheap knock-off of "The Golden Girls". However, "Golden" was far more likable. There was a significant lack of chemistry in the "Cleveland" cast and the writing just wasn't that great, as it unfortunately is in most sitcoms today.

I think the show sucked big time. It's always been about three middle aged whiny sluts and an old lady.
The dialogue was never funny IMO.... no substance, so much fluff....

I think the cast was good. (although I think we could have replaced Bertinelli & Leeves for the betterment of the show.) The problem with this show, as it is with about 98% of the sitcoms on TV right now, is that the writing is terrible. Awful, disgraceful. Where some of these writers today learn comedy writing skills is a mystery to me, but they are not taught well or properly at all.

Is it true that they cancelled Hot in Cleveland partly over fears that Betty Whites's mobility issues (by the third of fourth season, they had her seated through most of her scenes rather than walking around) would lead to her being hurt on set?

What about The Golden Girls? Three of the women weren't angels. Plus they had an old lady too.
