On February 6th the entire series was released to DVD. It is truly a surprise that the show has finally made it to DVD considering how a deal fell through with Mill Creek Entertainment in 2010. Since it's release, the DVD set has been very hard to order since the show has been out of stock in all of the places it is available. The only reason I was able to get a copy was because I checked everyday to see when it would be in stock and bought it as soon as it became available. It was available on Amazon on Thursday, but is now out of stock again.
I am happy to finally be able to add this to my Designing Women collection after all these years. |

I ordered it too, but my memories of it are not that pleasure-filled. Like HEARTS AFIRE before it, it had a great cast but was endlessly talky to the point of tedium. And the dialogue was not sparkling like it had been on DESIGNING WOMEN. I am giving it a second chance to see if it has aged well. If not I will likely re-sell it. I wish they had released DELTA instead. Great cast AND it was consistently funny.

I ordered it and received it recently and found the show funnier now than during its initial run. It is worth getting!

I found it tedious at times, but the last few episodes are among the best of the series. It's nowhere near as funny or great as it's parent show.

I wonder if Les Moonves was a major reason why Women of the House didn't get a second season? Linda Bloodworth-Thomason has been very adamant that Moonves in essence, blackballed her. The last four episodes didn't even debut on CBS, but on Lifetime. If you look at the timeline, Moonves first became president of CBS Entertainment at roughly the same time. The last first-run episode of Women of the House to be broadcast on CBS was on March 20, 1995.
