Question Amanda Fuller vs. Molly McCook

Which "replacement" Baxter daughter is worse? In fairness, it's hard to judge Molly McCook based on a single episode thus far, but still it's well worth a shot!

We only saw the original Kristyn during the first season, so when Amanda came in to play the role, we didn't have as much time to get invested in the original actress compared to how long the original Mandy was in front of us and so in my opinion, what we are dealing with now is worse.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. My question is why did another child have to be found to play Boyd? That character should now be just one year younger than Eve was when the show first started.

There was some blowback online for the recasting (with Molly McCook replacing Molly Ephraim as the Baxters’ daughter). Did that hurt the actress’ feelings? What did you think?
We fully expected it. You don’t take a character played by an actress that’s beloved and suddenly switch them out. I’m glad they missed Molly Ephraim, that’s a good thing. And they’re going to go through the same process we did in casting. When Molly McCook walked in we thought, “that’s not going to work.” Physically that’s not going to work. And then she’s just so good. We thought maybe another character? Then we thought she’s the best actress, let’s go with it. We had some fun with it in the opening episode [about the physical differences between the actors] and then dropped that. It’s a little jarring then you grow to love her. The actresses feelings were not hurt — well, she said “very briefly” and then she got past it. We hope the audience starts to feel the way we do. She’s not doing an imitation of Molly Ephraim playing Mandy, she’s playing Mandy her own way. We put her in a tough situation in that first episode she’s replacing a beloved actress and we have her in opposition of Mike and Eve who are very well loved obviously. We had to do that for the story but she’s not going to be in opposition to Mike in the upcoming episodes and hopefully they can see her shine.

I wonder of Josie Loren would've been a more suitable choice if Molly Ephraim couldn't come back. Plus, she's roughly closer in height (at 5'2) instead of Molly McCook.

^^^ I don't know anything about that girl, but in order for her to have had a chance, she first would have to have interest in the role. Maybe the show/role wasn't her cup of Cherry Coke. Then if she had done an audition for the role, the final word would've belonged to those who are in charge of casting.

God bless you and them and your recommendation always!!!

It's kind of funny to see people complaining about Molly McCook's blonde hair when Molly Ephraim has recently made herself a blonde too:

I wonder why there apparently wasn't as much of a viewer outrage when Alexandra Krosney was replaced by Amanda Fuller after the first season? Is it because we've had Molly Ephraim longer? But still, by most accounts, Ephraim chose not to come back whereas Krosney was for all intents and purposes, fired.

I don't care for the older sister's replacement but it's water under the bridge now.

Oh Mandy, You Came and You Went and You’re Changing

Question: Why did the producers of Last Man Standing do such a poor job of replacing Mandy and why did she leave? Also, Kyle in a suit and having an office job? I am not watching anymore. They ruined a good story line. I have watched the reruns over and over. — Creekwood

Matt Roush: I pity any actor or actress who steps into a popular character—or ensemble; you should see the mail I get instantly condemning just about any new face on any of the NCIS shows. While I’m fairly confident the Mandy character isn’t make-or-break for most Last Man fans, I’m not surprised the new and very broad take on the character is causing some backlash. (I read that the original Mandy, Molly Ephraim, took down her Twitter account because of the vitriol.) My understanding is that during the year when Last Man was shut down, with no guarantee of its return, Ephraim moved on to new career opportunities, including the upcoming feature film The Front Runner, and wasn’t available to rejoin the cast.
