Child Support in no way would have been part of the original TGIF, that was all sitcoms from 8-10.

Thank goodness for DVD's. If I had to watch the crap on TV today we'd never watch anything. JMHO

Well, they're halfway there. They've officially put the block back in place, now they just need the content for it to help it take off again. The shows that are helping kick it off again aren't really compatible for that block. I still feel they need 4 multi-cams-4 high quality multi came with the right talent behind them for the block. It's still completely possible to get 4 solid multi-cams and one of those 4 to take off but they're going to need the right talent and premise for them. There's several decent cable/Netflix multi-cams that would work really well for this they could use. Hopefully ABC will really take this relaunch to heart and re-evaluate adding multi-cams back in. I MAY check out the Fred Savage game show, that could be interesting but the rest of it I'll probably skip for now. When they add multi-cams I'll be there. Cmon Dungey this isn't impossible. Yes it will take some effort but it's totally do-able to get some of TGIF's former glory back!

ABC had already tried to bring TGIF back in the early 2000s and it flopped pretty hard pretty fast. I think that TV viewership habits have changed over the last twenty years and Friday nights are no longer a hot night for watching TV like they were in the '80s and '90s. Plus sitcoms are arguably not really a major TV ticket anymore, particularly the type of shows that TGIF was most synonymous for. Also, one can't imagine that too many of the millennials this is aimed at suddenly deciding they had to watch a block because it has the initials of something they used to watch when they were kids...only with none of the shows or anything remotely related to it otherwise.

When it comes to sitcoms ABC has sometimes been the channel of choice when it comes to impressive watchable sitcoms and so when ABC first launched it's TGIF block in the 80's ABC knew that they would have a strong winner in their hands and a ratings blockbuster list of sitcoms that everyone could enjoy. And so with shows like Growing Pains Full House Perfect Strangers and Family Matters the TGIF block was so successful and for ABC it proved that this block would be a miracle because for families there was nothing better than relaxing after a hearty dinner watching a sitcom on Fridays. And as the 90's began ABC added new shows to the TGIF lineup that kept the block looking fresh with shows such as Step By Step Hanging With Mr. Cooper Home Improvement and Thunder Alley and while these shows were impressive Full House and Growing Pains and Family Matters were still hits when they continued in the 90's and ABC knew that with Miller/Boyett Productions produced sitcoms that was the secret for a successful sitcom block. But I think what caused TGIF's death in the 2000's was the fact that Disney had tried to take over the Friday Night hour on ABC's most watched day by having an hour called the ABC Happy Hour that simply took the TGIF hour and renaming it by adding more sitcoms and occasional movies geared toward families. But if this new version of TGIF is a hit i'm sure it will guarantee that ABC will become the number one rated channel in TV in 2018. But I cannot figure out why Child Support is part of the TGIF lineup when it should've been on Mondays or Saturdays and another sitcom would've been much perfect. But it's great that ABC has revived a Friday night favorite block for a new generation of people and families to get into the weekend spirit to start a new week

I wonder if instead of Growing Pains they meant Growing Pain’s spin-off
Just The 10 Of Us. I miss the line-up that created TGIF 8pm Perfect Strangers 8:30pm Full House 9pm Mr.Belvedere 9:30pm Just The 10 Of Us It was hosted by one of those shows. It would be cool if Freeform the spin-off ABC Channel would air this Line up Every Friday Night from 6pm-8pm & again 12AM-2AM. 6pm & 12AM Perfect Strangers 6:30pm & 12:30AM Full House 7pm & 1AM Mr. Belvedere 7:30pm & 1:30AM Just The 10 Of Us |

I'd rather prefer the 2000s version with 8 Simple Rules, Life with Bonnie, Married To The Kellys and Hope and Faith being my favorite shows from this period...

Hope and Faith is really underrated, a lot better than more popular 2000s sitcoms like Will and Grace, Two and a Half Men, The King of Queens, The Office, That 70s Show, etc. I liked Life with Bonnie, but they made a mistake getting rid of the daughter played by Samantha Browne-Walters in season 2. If they cut someone it should have been the son instead.
