"Ghosted" Gets 6 More Episodes from Fox, Taps Paul Lieberstein as New Showrunner

Fox has ordered six more episodes of freshman action paranormal comedy "Ghosted", bringing the Season 1 total to 16 episodes.

As part of the pickup, former "The Office" executive producer/showrunner Paul Lieberstein has been brought in as executive producer/showrunner for the Back 6 since original showrunner Kevin Etten is exiting.

I hear the network had been looking for a tonal shift on the show, seeking to ground it as more of a workplace comedy, resulting in the hire of a new showrunner with extensive workplace comedy experience to land a back order.

"Ghosted", starring Craig Robinson and Adam Scott and created by Tom Gormican, was a hot package last development season. The project sailed through pilot season as the frontrunner on the comedy side and landed on the fall schedule with a Sunday slot.

It was given a 10-episode order because of Fox’s fall needs, dictated by frequent preemptions. "Ghosted" has been a modest ratings performer though, according to Fox, it has improves its year-ago time period by +6%.

Adam Scott discusses Ghosted's revamp, Big Little Lies and how Aziz Ansari is "doing great"
"I don’t know what to say on the record about Aziz. I don’t want to say anything that would be misconstrued," Scott says of his former Parks and Recreation co-star, in an interview with Vulture. "I’ll say this: Aziz is doing great. He’s a great, lovely guy. How’s that?" As for Fox's Ghosted tonal revamp: "I’ll say this: I think it’s possible for a bunch of well-meaning people to enjoy working with each other and realize at some point they were each working on different shows," he says. "That’s what happened with us. Part of it was me thinking we were making a mix of Midnight Run and The Twilight Zone, without considering that everybody might not like Midnight Run or even know what I meant when I said that."

For those that are interested, the correct order to watch the episodes would be:

1) Pilot

2) Haunted Hayride

3) Whispers

4) Bee-Mo (This was undoubtedly intended to be the Halloween episode. It ended up airing on Oct. 8th for some stupid reason)

5) Lockdown

6) Sam

7) The Machine

8) Ghost Studz
