Default HBO's ‘Girls’: Unborn Baby Is a ‘Parasite,’ Late Term Abortion Touted

It’s no secret that the creator of HBO’s Girls, Lena Dunham, is rabidly pro-abortion, as I’ve mentioned in previous articles on the show. So, the fact that the current storyline has Dunham’s character choosing life for her baby has been quite surprising, though I’m waiting for the moment where she decides she absolutely cannot be “burdened” by a baby and decides to have a late-term abortion.

In April the 2nd episode, “What Will We Do This Time About Adam?” Hannah’s gay friend Elijah mistakenly thinks just that after Hannah realizes she was a little naďve in thinking that having a baby without the father involved would be simple.

After referring to Hannah’s baby as the “parasite growing inside of you,” Elijah tells Hannah, “Oh, God. Hannah, this is gonna be a real mind**** for me if you wanna get an abortion right now. I mean ... I'll do it. I think there's about two doctors in America that do it at this stage in your pregnancy, but I'll find them.”

This is the second time the show has failed at basic biology by referring to the baby as a “parasite,” the first time being when Hannah’s baby was compared to a lentil bean which Hannah casually tossed behind her back dismissively after staring at it intently on the end of her finger.

Girls is also wrong about the difficulty in getting a late-term abortion. There are not just “two doctors in America” who will “do it at this stage.” There are actually 162 abortion clinics that perform abortions after 20 weeks.

Secondly, most don’t realize just how easy getting a late-term abortion is legally, given the loose definition of “health” that was buried in Roe v. Wade’s companion case, Doe v. Bolton: “… all factors - physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman's age – relevant to the wellbeing of the patient. All these factors may relate to health."

All Hannah needs to say is that she has a headache, is too young, too tired, or is having anxiety about having a baby and she can legally get an abortion at any point in her pregnancy.

And, exactly why would it be a “mind****” for Elijah if Hannah wanted an abortion now? Abortion is supposed to be fine, right? Just a blob of tissue. A woman’s right. Her choice. Liberals often say they want to reduce the number of abortions, but these kinds of comments are double-speak. Either there’s nothing wrong with ending the life of a child, or there is. And science and basic human decency tells us there is.

Perhaps Elijah has bonded with the baby as he has been mentally and physically preparing for his/her birth? Or maybe the fact that the child is further along in development bothers him, even though it has been the same child all along.

Whatever his reason for feeling this way, he’s willing to sacrifice his possible moral misgivings on the altar of the almighty “her body, her choice” mindset that liberals worship so dearly.

If he’s not concerned for the baby’s wellbeing, shouldn’t he at least be concerned about Hannah’s? After all, according to the National Right to Life, “more than 200 women have died from legal abortions since 1973. The risk of death increases according to the duration of pregnancy and the complexity of the abortion technique employed.”

Now that Hannah is further along in her pregnancy, her risk for complications and even death is much higher should she seek out a late-term abortion. You’d think that would worry Elijah. But Hannah and Elijah do like to brag about their selfishness, so maybe in the end, all Elijah cares about is Elijah.

On another liberal note, there was a random mention of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani when Jessa is told to stop smoking inside of a bar. This clip is safe to show you because unlike the previous one, Hannah is shockingly not naked in it.
