When reruns aired on CBN in the 1980s, it was only episodes produced between 1953 - 58.
Some episodes from the first 2 seasons exist on DVD, and probably these are in the public domain. Kinescopes have horrible quality, as they are filmed from TV monitors. The sets from the few episodes I've seen are really crude, and I think the Harry Morton character (at least some of the time) is played by yet someone else. I think anyone looking for what might be considered a good B&A show would probably be disappointed. BTW seasons 1 and 2 were never in the syndication package.

They were run regularly on the local PBS outlet and the quality was at the very least passable. The quality of the transfer process was apparently very good and revealed the maximum clarity of the print. The result was on par with how filmed reruns typically looked when being broadcast by local stations back in the day.

It's also nice to see the show being played to a live audience. The first two TV seasons are much, much more like their radio show than the later filmed seasons.

I too would like to see a DVD release. One thing to consider is that the original film elements deteriorate--the more time that passes, the worse it gets, I would imagine. It's obvious, when you view these episodes on Antenna TV, that these films have never been remastered--they were just transferred to DVD off the tired old syndication videotapes. Some of them have an audio hum. One episode, "Ronnie's Fan Club", is missing from syndication--who knows what happened. I fear this whole series will be a treasure lost. Shout Factory or some reissuer needs to do what they did with Father Knows Best--reassemble the original, unedited episodes, if they still can.
