I don't watch this show cause i don't have HBO but i wish i did have HBO so i could watch it. I heard black actor Wood Harris plays on the show as a drug kingpin. He was good in the movies Above The Rim with 2Pac & Paid In Full with Mekhi Phifer & rapper Cam'ron. What other actors play on The Wire?

This show has a lot of good actors. I didn't know Wendell Pierce & Frankie Faison were on here too. Man i wish i had HBO. I see the black woman who's the only female detective played in Shaft movie as the woman who asked Samuel Jackson did he wanna come home with her & he said it's my duty to please that booty LOL. The dude who plays Bubbles on The Wire also was in Shaft as the dude who was a snitch who gave Samuel Jackson some information about that puerto rican bad dude he worked for.

With the 5th season of The Wire starting early next month, I thought this would be a good time to resurrect this thread.

Let's cut to the chase, and maybe spark a little debate -

I won't say that The Wire is the 'best ever' TV show, but it is the best-written and best-acted on television now, and perhaps in my lifetime (40+). It's better than The Sopranos, and The Sopranos was pretty d@mn good.

Based on word of mouth, I picked up Season 1 on DVD (I don't have HBO) a few years ago and instantly fell in love with it. It remains the only show that I'll pay full retail for and not whine about it.

Anybody else have an opinion on this one?

Default Why The Wire doesn't explain the Baltimore riots

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/m...ltimore-riots/

The media keep mentioning the Baltimore-set HBO series in their riot coverage. But as one Twitter user put it, "Welcome to #Baltimore, national media. The Wire came out in 2002. Nice of you to show up."
