Yes, serving 33 years.

He and his friends and associates stormed into a hotel room with guns to steal back memorabilia belonging to OJ. It was going to fall into the hands of the Goldman family (one of his victims).

He kidnapped the memorabilia dealer at gunpoint.

OJ was a street thug when he was a youth and he remains so to this very day.

Anyone remember the made-for-TV movie aired on FOX back in 1995 nine months before the actual verdict was announced?

The O.J. Simpson Story

Yeah! I vaguely remember it! I think the guy they had playing OJ looked and talked more like him than Cuba Gooding Jr. I remember him yelling "NICOLE" in a real deep voice that sounded how OJ would say it!

I watched FX last night. The first episode was good.

Although I doubt that Chris Darden regarded Johnny Cochran as a mentor and that Darden wanted to leave his position to become a defense lawyer. This was all news to me.

Jill Shively allegedly almost crashed into Simpson's Bronco when he was speeding away from the crime scene. Very interesting.

Darden has actually confirmed that he DID look up to Cochrane.

There was one gripe about the film: O.J. Simpson is taller than Cuba Gooding, Jr., and he talked in a deeper voice.

Darden said that he and Cochrane hated one another and almost came to blows when he was interviewed by Oprah.

Maybe he did admire him at some point. I don't know.

I think he is acting well in the series.

He played one scene as if OJ were guilty and the next scene as if OJ were innocent. He kept alternating throughout according to Cuba Gooding Jr.

I think in this case they were looking for a great pool of actors instead of them actually resembling the real people they're pretending to be but David Schwimmer is an odd choice since he doesn't strike me as being able to act like the real Robert Kardashian.

I actually thought the same thing. For the most part, I was impressed with the casting. I think Selma Blair is a dead ringer for a young Kris Jenner, as is Sarah Paulson for Marcia Clark. I thought David Schwimmer did a great job as Robert Kardashian and I suspect we'll see some good scenes with Schwimmer in upcoming episodes (don't let the fact that he's "Ross" fool you. If you ever watched "Band of Brothers," you'll know that Schwimmer is actually a damn fine actor.) I suspect that Courtney B. Vance is going to steal the show as Johnny Cochrane and I'm excited to see Nathan Lane's take on F. Lee Bailey.

Frankly, the only casting choice I found "off" was that of John Travolta. I'm sure he'll grow on me, but I'm just not feeling it right now.

This series could very well show the breakdown of the relationship. I know that Shapiro has been quoted saying that he would NEVER work another case with Johnnie Cochran again. I'm very curious to see why that is....

I suspect it's going to be because Shapiro felt that Cochran took the case in an "unethical" direction by playing the race card.

Um, no, O.J. got away with it was because she and the rest of the prosecuting team did a horrid job on the case. Plus, Robert Blake was white, and he also walked. So skin color had nothing to do with it.
Agreed. The prosecutors made numerous mistakes, more than enough to guarantee an acquittal. Not only did they leave out some of the most important pieces of evidence, but they had the trial in Los Angeles instead of Santa Monica. Vincent Bugliosi knew it was a big mistake because it resulted in a biased jury - biased against the prosecution and biased in OJ Simpson's favor. Also, their closing arguments were ill-prepared, and they failed to challenge both damaging defense testimony and the abuses of Judge Lance Ito.
