What’s Working: “The Voice” has held up pretty well, among the top five shows on television and capable of providing a strong lead-in for new series. “Chicago Fire,” one of the shows that launched behind “The Voice,” is a timeslot winner on Tuesdays and has helped spawn spinoff “Chicago PD,” which has been very competitive on Wednesday. “The Blacklist” has lost some steam in its move to Thursday, but gives NBC something to build on. And “Dateline” is NBC’s unsung player, performing solidly whenever called upon (up to four times a week this spring).

What’s Not: Comedy remains a colossal struggle for the net, which has abandoned half-hours on Thursday and currently only has a single hour (Tuesday after “The Voice”) dedicated to sitcoms. Attempts to replicate the “Blacklist” success with “State of Affairs” didn’t pay off, and other dramas like “Allegiance,” “Constantine” and “The Slap” made little noise. “A.D. The Bible Continues” underwhelmed, and “The Mysteries of Laura” did passably but is probably a long shot to return.

What’s Next: “Chicago Med” is certainly a possibility, and why not? Other drama hopefuls include “The Curse of the Fuentes Women” from Silvio Horta (“Ugly Betty”), while on the limited-series front, Charles Manson drama “Aquarius” starring David Duchovny will air this summer and the long-in-the-works “Heroes Reborn” is targeted for next season. “Undateable” is the lone current comedy that has much of a chance to return, while the most talked about new laffer will be Craig T. Nelson’s return as “Coach.” And one of the net’s most anticipated projects is the Neil Patrick Harris variety show.

Ratings: This wasn’t a great season for NBC, but the NFL (including the Super Bowl), “The Voice,” the solid “Chicago” shows and “The Blacklist” kept it on top in adults 18-49 for a second straight year.

The Peacock has been struggling with comedy shows in recent years, so it has opted for a fall lineup that emphasizes dramas. Undateable, the only comedy from this season returning next year will join Mark-Paul Gosselaar's People Are Talking on Friday nights, forming the only comedy block.

Donald Trump wasn't the only thing that got fired by NBC this week. NBC last afternoon decided to fire American Odyssey after one season of 13 episodes.

A.D. The Bible Continues will not continue at NBC. The network has decided not to go forward with a second installment of the follow-up to the miniseries titled The Bible.

Aquarius and Hannibal have been banished to Saturdays starting this week. NBC may be reconsidering its Aquarius renewal.

Mr. Robinson and The Carmichael Show will no longer be paired together, they will both air back-to-back episodes at 9:00 for 3 weeks.
