Wink How did James Leave?

Was there an explanation or an episode for why and how James left Spin City?

James was gone the first episode of season five when Charlie Sheen took over.
I can't remember the show off the top of my head, but a few episode guides I looked at said James was gone without any explanation.

Janele and Nikki also vanished at the beginng of that season, and no one seemed to comment on their departure either...

Caitlin was placed at the staff as the Majors new campain manager so she didnt come out of no where. And Nikki and Janelle left after season 3 and season 4. I read that Connie Britton left because her characters screen time was smaller when Caitlin/Heather Locklear joined the Spin City crew. However I dont know why James left. Even Stacy (the very good looking Jennifer Esposito) left after season 3 without any reason after benn on the set for 1 and a half season aproximatley.

If I remember correctly, the reason James, Nikki and Janelle left the show was that the filming was moved from New York to California to accomodate Charlie Sheen's schedule, and those actors didn't want to relocate.

We never did get and explanation in the series as to why James, Nikke and Janelle left after season 4. They were just gone. In my opinion the whole spirit of the series got lost there.

I can easily imagine the relocation from NY to LA being the reason why they couldn't continue to be a part of the series.

Concerning that rumour about Connie Britton - don't believe a word, you read in the tabloids. It's absolute garbage!

Jennifer Esposito left to do movies. She had done a few movies when the series was on hiatus. The simple fact is she made Summer Of Sam with Spike Lee and he encouraged her to get out of TV because he said it would trap her and to pursue movie roles. Due to filming in New York, she had to turn down parts in other movies. She wanted out of her contract and when she ticked the producers off by not showing up for a taping of the episode 'Carter & Stuart & Bennet & Deirdre' the producers had enough and let her out of the contract for next year. In fact, her leaving was the main idea to bring Heather Locklear into the show.
