Default Jeremy Miller Discusses Alcoholism...

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/celeb-new...1112.html?vp=1

Video in the link
*********************

Jeremy Miller, who famously played the lovable Ben Seaver on "Growing Pains," is opening up about his battle with alcoholism. The 36-year-old recently sat down with "omg! Insider" co-anchor Thea Andrews and revealed his struggles with the bottle.

"I struggled with it for a very long time," he confessed. "I'm clean and sober now, and very happy about it … It was 15 years of hard drinking. You know, using it as a numbing device to just push down personal issues. It wasn't so much for me the industry stuff. Mine was personal stuff, family issues, step father issues … those kinds of things."

Miller is sober, living happily with fiancé, Joanie, and raising three boys. He is also currently a spokesperson for Fresh Start Private, a company that offers a medical device that stops cravings for alcohol. "It's actually in pellet form of an FDA approved drug called Naltrexone. It's been around for about 25 years in oral form but our company has developed an implant," he said.

Never knew Miller was an alcoholic, but good to hear he's recovered.

Default “Growing Pains” star Jeremy Miller: I’m a recovering alcoholic

http://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/g...coholism-36547

Miller, now 37, who played Ben Seaver, says of his alcohol addiction, which he kicked two years ago: ""I’m not your classic child star gone bad. My problems didn't begin until well after the show, when I was dealing with family stuff and alcohol became a way to suppress painful emotions."

Sad to hear about Jeremy Miller's struggles with alcohol, but I am definitely glad to hear that he is sober now and recovering.

It's awfully heartbreaking to know that pretty much all of the Seaver children (not counting Chrissy/Ashley Johnson) have grown up to have "issues". There's of course, the drama involving Kirk Cameron and the GP producers over content (once Kirk became a Born Again Christian), which really sunk the show in hindsight. Not to mention Kirk's rather controversial views on homosexuality and evolution. Then there's Tracey Gold's anorexia problems and her drunk driving incident from about 10 years back (around the time that the second GP reunion movie was going out).

Plus she almost died from anorexia.

Some people think Kirk Cameron is to blame for her anorexia.

I have heard on e! True Hollywood story I think that Tracy battled eating disorders and recieved treatment once before the show . So I am not sure it is fair to say kirk caused her anorexia

332. ENTERTAINMENT LAWYER 06/20 **#2**
Spiked - A Birdie Blind Item: In a recent spot for private rehab services, this former child actor confessed to have started drinking prior to kindergarten. According to a friend and former neighbor of the family though, it started even earlier. The mother, prior to becoming a momager, would add a little whiskey to her infant son's formula. It helped with the teething, she said, and also helped with the crying, which always made her hangovers worse. By the time he got the role on the successful sitcom, certain men from the network didn't even need to ply him with booze - he was often already drunk. When the suits ultimately intervened - not, you understand, with the men, but with the parents, demanding they keep the liquor cabinet locked - things took an even worse turn. Now he "needed" the men as much as they wanted him. This was also when one of his fellow cast mates also took up the bottle, although not the one whose character you would expect it from. This person's troubles would take years to literally catch up with them, on the side of the road, but before the show was canceled there were many days where the only thing consumed on set or off was booze. You might suspect that some of this may have led to the show's cancellation - that it got "spiked." The reason though was another cast member, who after all he had seen and been through, went to another extreme, where he remains today.
Show: "Growing Pains"
Former child actor: Jeremy Miller
Fellow cast mate: Tracey Gold
