The Morris Davis and Stanley Gryziec segments in particular scare me because of the two individuals that had their identities concealed and voices distorted. I also will not watch the Mary Ann Perez segment at night. |

When I was a kid and first saw the Richard Church segment, it creeped me out...mainly because of the strange blue hue of the lighting in the bedroom. That night, my bedroom had that same eerie glow so it was a bit unsettling. The actor portraying Kenneth Robert Stanton scared me somewhat as did the police footage of David Berkowitz getting thrown in the police car after his arrest (not sure why his smiling face scared me). On the other hand, teh reenactment ("What took you guys so long" guy looks kind of funny with his white eyes piercing through the darkness). I always found i interesting ow police composites are much scarier than photos of the real people.

Oh, The dude in the Daniel Pineta segment that beats on the door of the girl's house. They open the curtain and you see this evil scowl from the man.
Also, anytime at night when I go to the basement (laundry), inevitably I think of various police composites from UM and look over my shoulder a couple times. LOL

I am deeply, deeply embarrassed to admit that the Alan Mann aka that Florida Isabella Cramer Ghost story scared the crap out of me as a kid. Nowadays, the whole thing makes me laugh. Good lord, these people are rednecks. It's especially hilarious now that I realize that Alan looks exactly like Craig from Malcolm in the Middle.

Another one that currently comes to mind is the Wadada (sp?) composite. Due to the horrific nature of his crime, his erratic mannerisms, and his absolutely freakish appearance, how this maniac was ever accepted into that community is beyond me. |

A lot of the ghost segments used to scare the crap out of me when I was younger. Now I find a lot of them laughable.

It may be as hokey as (forgive the pun) hell, but I have to concede that the "Howard Storm in Hell" segment always manages to creep me out. Strangely enough, I've always found the creepiest part to be when Howard sees himself as a boy singing about Jesus.

The Hum--but solely for the "close replication" of what the Hum actually sounds like to people who hear it.
When Lifetime was still running UM in the afternoon (my freshman and part of my sophomore years of college), I was over at a friend's apartment near campus watching an episode before we had to go to class, and I clearly remember watching this segment with him. I proceeded to think about "the Hum" for the rest of the day, and actually lost sleep that night thinking about it. And I was 18 bloody years old! A few years later, I actually did hear a steady drone in many places when I visited a certain military post in the Northwest. And then I deployed and realized that's what happens when you have four bajillion generators running at once all over the place. |

Still afraid of Omar

Obviously I am still afraid of the Omar arsonist case! I first saw it when I was 7 years old, and it gave me nightmares. But I'm 32 now and it still scares me, even when it's the Dennis Farina airings (although it's more frightening with Robert Stack). A few weeks ago I showed the segment to my mother and told her this was what kept me up at night--she was very busy back then so this was the first time she really saw it, and it scared her too!
But one case that was strangely frightening to me, as in nightmares level frightening, was the Jenny Pratt case. I also saw that when I was 7, and between the Omar case, and Jenny's case, I lost some sleep. As an adult I am horrified and feel bad for/am admiring of Jenny, but it's an adult reaction now whereas when I was little it was more scary. |

I agree the maps can be quite effective in adding to the eerie-ness(is that a word) of a segment. The Lisa Marie Kimmel Segment comes to mind for me. The ones that annoy me: the ones they added to the Farina Era episodes from Google maps, because I can't visualize where Lincoln, Nebraska is (or walk over to my computer to check it out)

This might be me but does anyone get a feeling of anxiety when you hear the intro to the theme? Not like excitement that the show is gonna start but like "oh crap".
I feel a sensation in my sinuses similar to right before you start to cry. Yep, my suppressed childhood fears are returning... Hahaha. |

The devil grandmother segment used to scare me. Still creeps me out a little bit now, too.
