Default This doesn't end it at all...

Those arguments are good but there are holes and I will tell you why:

Re: Good before Maude. The show Good Times was a project that hadn't aired nor began production. It was an idea on paper that was later cottailed by two characters on another Norman Lear show.

Source backup: Knots Landing a show about several middle class couple was an idea on paper that was conceived in 1977. It was a good project but the CBS Execs wanted something more glitzy so David Jacobs and Michael Fillerman came up with Dallas (1978). With the success of Dallas, the CBS Execs decided that they wanted to do Knots Landing (1979). They also decided that they wanted to put some Dallas characters into the show and get the show started.

Empty Nest, a Golden Girls Spinoff although the lead characters who did the pilot in a Golden Girls episode did not crossover to the series. Male character was a doctor with a wife. When the show went to series, the female character (Rita Moreno) was dropped and the names were completely changed although he was still a doctor. This was still branded a Spinoff.

Good Times was brought to light but then Esther Rolle was being prepped for the series and then it was agreed that she and John Amos could continue as the Evans Family on Good Times.

With me working in TV, I can tell you now that there are other shows that were created before a so-called parent show. That's nothing new at all...its almost normal. LOL.

Regarding the name: Tony was Tony in different shows but he was a "Banta" on "Taxi", a "Micelli" on "Who's the Boss" and a "Ganetti" on Hudson Street". Florida Evans was "Florida Evans" on both shows with three kids on both shows and although the history was changed, it was acknowledged that she was a maid (past or present) in both shows.

There was some elements from Good Times that were still traced from "Maude". With that being said, the Eric Monte proof does not declare that the show is not a spinoff at all. Norman Lear took the idea and turned it into a spinoff with the Evans characters from Maude. Besides, Norman Lear (the producer, not the online member. LOL) says it himself.

Norman Lear took the idea and turned it into a Norman Lear comedy

Don't be trying sandwich "Good Times" in that list. LOL. Its still a spinoff. I will never be convinced to think otherwise based on the proof that stares right in the face. LOL.

That is not what you said on Nov 07th 2012. You said it was a "Fractured Spinoff". So, the debate was over a long long time ago. Tee Hee.

Hey, you already said it. It really does not matter anymore. You keep going by technicality and its already been said that location and history can be altered. I have provided examples of it with different shows as well. The voting poll confirmed it and your confession really sweetened the deal. Its been over. You see, that is your POV as a viewer who feels cheated by lack of consistent detail. The history of a character can be reworked. BTW, I have the video with Norman Lear explaining the morphing of Good Times being a spinoff (SURPRISE!!!) and your confession from 11/07/12 (the day you caved in ).

You just admitted that it was again it was a spinoff. I think Norman Lear knew exactly what he was doing. It was him developing the show with Esther Rolle that counted.

That's two times you've admitted.
