Default 15 years ago today; FFC-Fox Family Channel was born

Hey guys, and now it's time to take you to an event that happend 15 years ago this week:

It was Saturday August 15, 1998

CBN's Family Channel became known as FFC-Fox Family Channel

Pat Robertson and his son Tim sold their company IFE-International Family Entertainment to Fox Kids Worldwide and soon, The Family Channel became Fox Family Channel or Fox Family for short

FFC was the place for new shows such as The Morning Scramble, The Basement, Toon-a-cass-a-role and even Game Shows like OUTRAGEOUS, I Can't Believe You Said That and Random Acts of Comedy as well as Reality Shows like Moolah Beach w/JD Roth, Show Me the Funny w/Stephanie Miller and Rondell Sheridan and 2 TV Spinoffs of REAL TV-AXN w/Mark L. Walberg and Life, Camera, Action w/Kristen Eykel of VH1 and The Saturday Night Solution

FFC was also the place for Fox Family Favorites like S Club 7, the Fox Family Countdown and Great Pretenders w/Wild Orchid Featuring Fergie

It was also the place for Classic TV Shows like Harveytoons, Mork & Mindy, Who's the Boss, The Partridge Family, Growing Pains and Step By Step as well as the Classic Family Drama Providence

Fox Family was also the place for great Family Movies as well as Specials like Front Row Center and many others

Fox Family was the place to be, but until November of 2001, Disney acquired The Family Channel from Fox Kids Worldwide and was renamed abc family

But despite the good and the bad

Fox Family Channel was the place to be for great Family Programming

and that's your look @ an event from 15 years ago

The Family Channel renamed Fox Family Channel and later as simply Fox Family

Thank goodness I never bothered watching after Pat Robertson sold out. It was downhill all the way when it became Fox Family Channel.

Well I thought that it was pretty good

It was pretty good from the start, but then it went downhill when they started adding some nonsense and abc family was ok, but now, it's not even worth watching

Come to think of it, I wonder did Pat Robertson convince his friend David Cerullo and his dad Morris to turn INSP into The Next Family Channel

I give FFC credit for bringing back Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Who's the Boss? and The Partridge Family to reruns

I don't really have anything to share regarding Fox Family Channel, other than the fact that it was the first time viewers got to catch reruns of Pee-Wee's Playhouse. It pretty much vanished from the airwaves after Paul Reubens' little incident in 1991. But I guess by 1998, they felt enough time had passed for them to forgive him for what he had done.

I don't think I ever even noticed the change, I actually thought The Family Channel became ABC Family.

Well he didn't completely sell out. They still managed to run The 700 Club on all variations of this channel. Not that I'm one who watches it, but it's still there.

The very first time I heard about Fox Family Channel was they promoted it in a commercial featured on the Anastasia video and I was surprised that Fox was gonna buy The Family Channel because The Family Channel was a great channel and it had shows for everyone and when I learned about this I knew that this would be the start of a new image for The Family Channel. And when Fox Family Channel debuted I saw it and was shocked at the lineup because from the morning till the night it seemed like the weekday lineup was all kids shows and cartoons and then they had the talk show Home And Family with Chuck Woolery and then more cartoons until the night when the dramas and sitcoms would appear but their weekend lineup improved with game shows and sitcoms in addition to more cartoons for kids. I do remember the show S Club 7 In Miami because that show made me a fan of S Club 7 and if it wasn't for Fox Family Channel S Club 7 would've never made it big in America and Wild Orchid would become more popular due to the show Great Pretenders and so like Disney Channel Fox Family Channel had ways of turning new celebrities into huge superstars. But what I think caused Fox Family Channel to go downhill was when ABC/Disney bought them and they renamed themselves ABC Family and had ABC not brought them Fox Family Channel would've survived with a better image but I think when they became Freeform ABC Family continued to go downhill because if you look at Freeform's lineup you see no more game shows no more kids cartoons and it's mostly dramas aimed at teens and movies aimed at teens and so it seems that Freeform is copying TeenNick now. If they brought back it's old image and not changed their name I'm sure Fox Family Channel would've been able to stay alive and return to it's The Family Channel roots
