Lots of successful film actors have transitioned to TV - Kevin Bacon, Zooey Deschanel, Alec Baldwin, Danny DeVito, ect
Not to mention Hugh Laurie, Glenn Close, Kyra Sedgewick (aka Mrs. Kevin Bacon), Kiefer Sutherland, Lawrence Fishburne, etc., etc. Besides the steady pay, if your show is really good you also can find yourself up for Emmy awards and the like. Also, if you want a break from location shooting and want to develop a character week after week - that's probably a huge factor.

People in the business take television more seriously than they used to. It's become more of a respected art form in its own right, whereas 20 years ago or so it was basically the trash of the creative world.

He might actually need the money. Yes he's made a lot of money but celebrities have an expensive lifestyle. I notice he has also done a commercial recently, I saw it on last night.

My question is, why is Robin Williams doing television? He has been a Hollywood "A" lister for over 30 years. Even though I think he is getting older and he does not headline films, he is still in films almost every year, he is in a new one now playing a priest in a film with Robert DeNiro.

Seems to me that movies stars make much more money with less work involved. It also seems to me that working in television is a "step down" from films, but even Kevin Spacey has his own show. This question can also be directed at Dustin Hoffman when he did that HBO horse racing show that was cancelled last year.

I cannot help thinking that Robin Williams is incredibly wealthy and just doesn't need the work. My only explanation is that these kind of celebrities live this very expensive lifestyle and they have to work to keep the lifestyle up. Robin also has an ex wife or two and is probably stuck with paying high alimony. Or not.

So why is Mr. Williams doing a sitcom??
Some actors who use to do movies are now doing TV like Dennis Quade even though his show got canceled, Kevin Bacon.

Dudley Moore plays an ad man who takes the idea of truth in advertising a little too far. In one scene, he proposes putting a warning label on cigarettes that says something like "If you smoke, you will get lung cancer and die." Now just imagine what Robin Williams can do with a concept like that!
Claim: Sarah Michelle Gellar is so awful on "The Crazy Ones" it could kill her career
Even Kelly Clarkson, who cameos in the pilot, proves to be a better comedic actress than Gellar, according to Lisa de Moraes, who says Gellar is "brittle and awful in this." She adds: "'The Crazy Ones' could be her career killer...."

I've always been a fan of Robin Williams but the Trailer of The Crazy One's didn't look promising to me. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=...iler&FORM=VDRE

If that's true, it wouldn't surprise me.

It will be interesting to see Sarah Michelle Gellar in a series again.
