Mira Sorvino Books Multi-Episode Arc on "Psych"

Mira Sorvino will join USA's "Psych" for a multi-episode arc in its upcoming season, the network announced Monday. She'll play Betsy Brannigan, the new head detective of the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Her character is described as "an incredibly sweet, adorably reserved and yet certified badass. ... She's a scrapbooking, cat loving, crime-fighting machine."

Sorvino will first appear in the seventh episode of the show's eighth season. Her character will probably pick up some of the slack for Maggie Lawson's Juliet, who will only be in a few Season 8 episodes because of Lawson's casting on the new ABC comedy Back in the Game.

An official premiere date for Season has not been announced, but USA recently expanded the order to 10 episodes.

i am still upset about how few episodes they had this season - it is an older show, but it is still a lot better than most of the crappy new shows on USA.

Maggie Lawson can't be replaced, I am really hoping she gets to come back earlier rather than later.
