Yes, and as I've said over and over again, fine, watch all the b/w you like. Just stop denigrating those who want to watch color and like to watch in color. Live and let live is what I say, b/w fanatics just can't seem to do so. They are not satisfied with watching b/w for themselves they want to force everyone to watch only what they watch, they leave no room for different preferences. I say, once again, if you like b/w, enjoy, just don't stop the rest of us who love color. To each his own, the b/w fan is not the end all and be all judge of taste for everyone. I think this is as fair as is possible to be.

Now, once again, back to my MAIN point, to the powers that be, please release an all color complete seasons set of My Favorite Martian, sooner rather than later. Thank you very very much.

I had this conversation a while back with Sherwood Schwartz about Gilligans Island which he felt should have been in color from day one.
Is My Favorite Martian a show that demands to left in black and white because of it's film noir basis,,gritty street smart,,well no it's not.
Will we carefully convert the show at some point using our references and note from our original art director yes we will...just not quite yet.

As you can see from this original first season color still it was designed in color..it's just the budget would not allow it be shot that way..
The black and white seasons of My Favorite Martian and black and white season of Gilligan may not quite have the mood of other black and white shows, but those seasons are still better seen in their original glorious black and white.

The 1st season of I Dream Of Jeannie definitely has a black and white mood, that season is also best seen in the original black and white. Same goes for seasons 1 and 2 of Bewitched, although those seasons have a slightly less black and white mood compared to that 1st season of Jeannie. When Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie went to color episodes, color wasn't the only big change, the proceedings in the episodes was amped up a bit as well.

And being able to see Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie in such perfectly colorized versions is such a pleasure and a genuine improvement over the b/w version that look so much more dated than the color versions.

I look forward to and can not wait to buy the new color sets of My Favorite Martian. The sooner the better. It will be a dream come true for me. Now if the Honeymooners and I Love Lucy were available in color also that would be it for me.

LOL I wasn't going to respond to you anymore in this topic, but I have to tell you that you miss the point entirely. Black and white shows are nostalgic products of the past and are SUPPOSED to look dated, they are not supposed to have color added to them and made to look new like they were filmed yesterday. Some black and white shows have had video restoration without adding color, that is acceptable. I have nothing against color shows. The color season of My Favorite Martian is fine. The color seasons of Gilligan's Island, Bewitched, and I Dream Of Jeannie are fine. But to colorize the black and white seasons of these shows or any other black and white show, absolutely not. Anyhow, with this topic I think all we can do is agree to disagree, you have your opinion and I have mine.

And you continue to not understand that your "point" is just your opinion, it is not one of God's commandments. "Nostalgic shows are supposed to look dated...",! Who says? You, that's only YOUR opinion. As I said from the beginning, you are entitled to your preference and I am entitled to mine. You like b/w, fine, enjoy. I like color, is it so difficult to allow me my pleasure? My b/w fanatic test comes here, but I don't want to continue this any more. Since I hate these color vs. b/w debates, no one ever is convinced that the other is right. You will never convince me to love b/w and I will never convince you to love color. So be it. These arguments are always a waste of time. I thought I had fairly and reasonably ended this harangue yesterday with my extremely fair statement. I can't get any more fair than that, if that was not good enough to satisfy you, then tough toenails, you have only failed the fanatic test again. Now I grow weary.

I still look forward more than ever to the beautiful all color complete seasons set of My Favorite Martian, and if the powers that be are out there, colorize I Love Lucy & The Honeymooners too, also the first 9 years of Gunsmoke would be great in color. B/w fanatics need not respond, I like what I like in spite of what you think is good for me and I always will.
Thank you and hopefully good bye.

Now let's see that color set of MFM!!

Oh No color me fickle..

You know I'm torn on this issue, personally I really like the Black and White shows and their look..but because the "kid's" coming up don't get this look in all it's beauty they are drawn to color.

In recent year they have improved the systems to make this work..the early work was to say the least horrible and almost mono chromatic color look in the way it came together.

Even with the new system skin tones are still muddy and don't pop at all..and for a half hour show (26 min) the cost is about thirty seven thousand plus per..

Economically it's just not a real value as yet..down the line..maybe we will be forced to do it to stay current..

but for now it has been looked at but just not enough return to cost.

You just let the air out of the balloon. ): Boy it sure is expensive, they do this stuff in India, maybe it's cheaper there. Oh well, it was nice having my hopes high for a couple days at least.

Then the other real possibility is if you wait too long the buying audience for this show will have died off, literally! I know kids today have never heard of My Favorite Martian, if you're waiting for the audience to get bigger, this is it, it ain't gonna grow, only shrink from now on. The only thing that's really needed now is a colorized alternative to Seasons 1 & 2, b/w versions can be included on the same disc, the same way Legend Films always includes a b/w version, though I preferred the way Columbia did it for the 3 Stooges, on those DVDs you had a "toggle" switch (it was the "Angle" button on the remote) that when you pushed it the picture would go instantly to b/w or to color as the film was playing you could go back and forth as you watched it play, that was great. 3 Stooges also looked great in color, maybe the same people who did the Stooges could do "Martian". At any rate, for me triple dipping on Season 3 or even double dipping on yet another b/w set of S.1 & S.2 isn't what I'm holding my breath for. A complete seasons color set would be ideal esp. one you could toggle between b/w or color as you watch. Can't think of anything better, this would please everyone.

I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, colorizing these old shows opens them up to new audiences. There are many young people who resist watching anything that's not in color. So colorizing could expand the fan base and revive an old show. But on the other hand, this process does disrespect the artistic integrity of the film director, who worked hard to create the best image for the medium he/she was working with, which was black and white film. I think, for example, of cinematographer Karl Freund, who was hired as film director for I Love Lucy specifically because of his esteemed reputation as a master of black and white film. He would create stage lighting, have the sets painted and the actors dressed in colors and shades, that were meant to bring about a superior black and white image. He, like those that followed, was an artist, and black and white motion picture photography was his art. Colorizing it would destroy the film director's vision and artwork.

And there are lots of old geezer's like me who "resist" b/w too. I would love to see I Love Lucy in color and to the b/w people who don't, please by all means, don't watch, no one is making you, but stop insisting on spoiling the fun and joy for the rest of us colorful folk. It's not as if b/w will disappear, you'll always have it around just like toe fungus. A color alternative will open up whole new audiences to a program who's b/w audience is dying off and bored with monochrome.

At any rate, I do wish everytime I mention colorization it would not cause a reaction amongst b/w fanatics like the famous bit where first guy says, "Niagra Falls." Second guy goes nuts, saying, "Slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch...". It isn't necessary to argue over this everytime someone expresses a desire to watch a show in color. I do not wish to have another endless discussion over the merits of color vs b/w. Neither of us will ever, and I do mean ever, change the other's mind, so why waste breath on trying? I will always prefer to see any program or any movie in color over b/w. So let's stop the side issue already. The subject is a color set of MFM is needed. The fact that b/w fanatics are offended is irrelevant. Color fans are just as offended at a b/w Uncle Martin.

If you're responding to me, and I'm assuming you are, did you even read my comment? I'm not even taking a particular side on this issue, but you're responding as if I am. And your response is very redundant. You want black and white shows colorized. I think we all get that by now. I chimed in with my personal thoughts, not staking a particular position, just recognizing the positives and negatives of each side. So I'm not clear why you're responding by regurgitating what you've already said over and over and over again. Or do you feel that only your opinion should be expressed here and you have to get in the last word until everyone else shuts up?

Don't feel too bad about it, for color shows there is season 3 of My Favorite Martian, 32 episodes originally filmed in color, MPI is supposed to release the DVD set soon.
