Thumbs up An All Color My Favorite Martian Set Is What Is Really Needed Now

When or will a complete Series set ever be available? I have bought the 3rd season on VHS, the DVDs of Season 1, 2, and the Umbrella Season 3 DVD set. But if they would release a colorized Season 1 & 2 along with season 3 in a single complete series all in color box set I would buy it in a minute. I would love to see Seasons 1 & 2 colorized esp. since colorizing techniques today have been so perfected. Just take a look at the color versions of Bewitched Seasons 1 & 2, they're perfect looking. Anyway, what's needed now is not another shaking plastic figure or Martian doo-dad, what's really needed now is a Complete Color Box set of all three seasons in color. The b/w fanatics can continue to buy the b/w sets already available. But those of us who love our series' in color would love to buy a complete Martian set all in color!

I'm not a b&w fanatic, but I am a purist and firmly believe that anything made in black and white is intended to be seen that way, it should remain as such and not be colorized. I'm happy with My Favorite Martian exactly the way it is, 2 black and white seasons and 1 color season.

Nodsmiley Bring on the all color complete set

I'm very happy for your beliefs, even though they're not fanatic. And I firmly believe that all things b/w should be seen in color. If you like b/w, live it and love it, I do not.
I want to see My Favorite Martian in beautiful living color. I am in no mood to have the 573rd arguement with another b/w fanatic over the virtues of no color drab dated looking b/w vs. beautiful and wonderful color, so if you like b/w, keep your b/w sets and be happy. No need to rain on everyone else's color parade. I like color, I and many other color loving folk would like to buy My Fav. Martian in an all color complete series set. I hope you, as a non-fanatic, do realize that not everyone must think just like you and must like only what you like. I like a beautiful color picture, I hope you can forgive my crime. Keep your b/w and be happy, I would like it in color. I consistently find that every b/w fanatic insists and goes into a rage if they can't force the rest of the world that they must love b/w and only watch b/w. That's why I refer to your ilk as fanatics, you never seem to be able to say live and let live as I do with you. Be happy with your b/w, I am not, I want color. See, I'm willing to live and let live. Now for the fanatic test, can you?
So please, powers that be, release an all color complete series set and I will be the first in line.

You have your opinion and I have mine. As a purist, I think black and white movies and TV shows should remain in their original form. Colorizing them is an act of vandalism and should be strictly forbidden. I'm sure there are others who would agree. You can request to have My Favorite Martian all in color, but don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. My Favorite Martian is a 1960's sitcom with a smaller fan fase, the studio that owns the show is not going to cover the cost to color the first two seasons episodes, only to result in a limited number of DVD sets sold. There are fans of McHale's Navy who would have liked those episodes in color, that show also has a smaller fan base and did not justify the cost of colorizing the episodes for DVD. But keep on wishing for My Favorite Martian, maybe one day your wish will come true.

Cool A more Colorful World

Yes, I would love to see Mchale's Navy in color and would gladly buy a color set of that too. As it stands, I won't buy the b/w McHale sets that are out now until the more enlightened ones release it in colorized sets. Luckily I did record the colorized McHale episodes several years ago when it was braodcast. My F. Martian, if it is ever released in a box set as it should have been a long time ago, I will only buy an all color set as I don't need to re-buy the same tired b/w versions all over again. Same with I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners, would love to see these in colorized sets too. Once again, I hasten to add, lest I be burned in effigy, you are free to buy all the b/w sets you like. I and many others would like to see this and other great old sitcoms in beautiful living color. I love my color Bewitched's and I Dream of Jeanie's, I want to see the same modern color processes applied now to My Favorite Martian. I would buy an all color set of Martian in a minute. It would mean big if this set were out in an all color version, the b/w audience is already satisfied with the current b/w sets, what's needed now is an all color box set not another b/w release.

I don't think there will be color DVD's of McHale's Navy and the early seasons of My Favorite Martian. But as I said before, keep wishing maybe one day you'll get your wish.

On the subject of wishes, I have a wish too, I wish a law would be passed that would forbid any further colorization of black and white movies and TV shows. That would put a screeching halt to this colorizing nonsense.

Colorizing the black and white shows isn't really as popular these days anyway like it used to be when the process first came out. There are others who share my opinion that colorizing the black and white shows is an act of vandalism. Leave the black and white shows alone, for those who want color there are plenty of color shows to choose from. Black and white shows are a product of the past, they have a unique mood and atmosphere and are intended to be seen in their original form. Adding color to the picture destroys the atmosphere and ruins the viewing experience. When Sony made color DVD's of Bewitched seasons 1 & 2 and I Dream Of Jeannie season 1, at least they were smart enough and also made DVD's in the original black and white as meant to be seen.

Well, looks like we have another one. Sorry, but you've failed the "I'm not a b/w fanatic" test. What's with you b/w nuts, why do you all go into such a madcap blind and completely intolerant rage whenever someone expresses their deepest desire to watch an ugly drab extremely dated looking b/w show in beautiful living color?? I've come to the conclusion you're like all typical liberals, completely intolerant of anyone who doesn't think like you and of the opinion that you know what's best for everyone else. A typical lib do-gooder always trying to ruin the fun for everyone else, all in the name of "it's good for you." You people really make me sick.

I realize I must be completely off my gord to like to watch programs/movies in color, this is obviously a character flaw. Just imagine, wanting to see a program that most resembles real life, color. Wow, some nerve we folks who love color have, huh? For the umpteenth time, if you like your dull b/w, watch it till your eyeballs only see b/w, I could care less what you like. But why do you fanatics all insist on denying the rest of us the pleasure of color? If someone doesn't think and act and do as you b/w'ers your immediate response is, "Ban it, make a law against it, put anyone in jail who doesn't think like me, the enlightened one who knows what's best for everyone else." You b/w'ers give me a pain. Now even though I've asked some questions here of you, they are merely rhetorical. Please, by all means, don't answer. I haven't the slightest care what your opinion is. I already know all I need to know, you're completely wrong. I know what's best and don't need your "stinkin' laws" to tell me what I can and can not watch. Anyone ever hear of freedom anymore? Or are we all supposed to be automatons of the all mighty all seeing all knowing libs in the government.

Now, back to my point, COLORIZE the first 2 seasons of My Favorite Martian and package it together with the color (no doubt banned also by b/w'ers) season of My Favorite Martian, & I and millions of fellow color lovers will buy. Thank you, I'm ready for an ALL COLOR set right now! I thank you and bring on the COLOR!!!

LOL to Zoneboy, that's funny, you score a bullseye with that one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hazel Anyday, it is you who has failed the "test" if that's what you want to call it. You are the fanatic screaming for everything to be in color, I am a purist who believes black and white shows should not be colorized.

I'm not here to argue with people, I'm here to share opinions and have intelligent enlightening discussion, something which seems to be an impossible task to accomplish with you. You can continue this conversation with someone else if you can find someone who's willing to give you an audience, I've already succeeded in making my point. Enjoy your My Favorite Martian coloring book and crayons courtesy of Zoneboy.

RetroTVfan, have you really now come down to the "I know you are but what am I?" level of retort? I have tried to not argue with you, but once again proving yourself to be the true b/w fanatic that I recognized you from the start as, you keep coming back with an insulting slur. Just because little tiny fuzzball me likes color. Well feh to you b/w'ers all. Now please go back in your b/w caves. Allow someone who doesn't repeat your politically correct non-thinking response to speak without your insults, be they as they may.
Now back once again, before I was rudely interrupted, to my point. I am merely asking the powers that be to bring out an ALL-COLOR seasons set of My Favorite Martian and you will make millions of truly enlightened people who love to see shows in color very happy. The b/w'ers are already delirious in more ways than one with their b/w sets, now we color fans need just one color set. Thanks again. Let's hope those who think they know what's best for the rest of us can restrain themselves now. But I doubt it, a b/w fanatic is never done.

Default Color My Favorite Martian..

Well, Let me tell you the first two seasons were designed in color by our art director James Hulsey.
We have allot of color reference for our Black and White shows..so we could match it up fairly well.
I had this conversation a while back with Sherwood Schwartz about Gilligans Island which he felt should have been in color from day one.
Is My Favorite Martian a show that demands to left in black and white because of it's film noir basis,,gritty street smart,,well no it's not.
Will we carefully convert the show at some point using our references and note from our original art director yes we will...just not quite yet.

As you can see from this original first season color still it was designed in color..it's just the budget would not allow it be shot that way..

This is the best news I've heard since the beautiful colorized "Holiday Inn" came out a few years back. That was one I had always thought was just made to be in color even before they started colorizing. I also as a small kid remember wishing that Laurel & Hardy were in color and now they're colorized too, just recently a beautiful color version of "Flying Deuces" was released, it's fantastic. (And yes, "Moderator", who never shows his bias against a poster, I did have a Laurel & Hardy coloring book and I remember coloring Hardy's coat a bright blue. Laugh if you will, but I loved it. Send me that My Favorite Martian coloring book and I'll color it for you, unless you've already colored it with black and white crayons.)

My "Trucolor" wishes for a colorful world are slowly coming true! I may have to live another 200 years to see everything I want, but that will give me the inspiration. Please do bring out the compete all color seasons set of My Favorite Martian sooner rather than later, I am not immortal.

What would be the point of that? The pages are already black & White.

There's nothing biased about it, I simply don't like the idea of colorizing tv series or movies that were originally released in black & white.
