For any other series, this would be an issue for me. But Car 54's own internal continuity isn't just screwy, it's non-existent. Granted, that's part of the charm, but if I hadn't heard about this beforehand I'd likely have had no idea that the episodes were out of order when watching the DVDs. And I'm guessing most viewers would be in the same boat, unless they've got the episode guide sitting right next them or an extremely good memory.

The main thing to me is that Al Lewis isn't in the first half (or so) of the season. He made a guest appearance as a different character and then showed up as Leo Schnauser. So if someone is watching this in DVD order, they'll wonder why all of a sudden he isn't Leo but rather a criminal.

No, this isn't some serialized show but having it in it's intended order isn't something that should be tampered with.
