I noticed it on the shelf here the other day and wondered what others thought of it. Judging by most of the comments, I should give it a miss. But I'm a bit of a Get Smart nut so I'll probably get it anyway. It was only $20.

I bought it for two reasons. 1) I'm a completist. I own all the episodes of the 1965-1970 series, plus the two movies (The Nude Bomb and Get Smart Again) so I had to have the short-lived follow up series. And 2) I'm a fan of Andy Dick, especially from the mid 90s, which is when he was on my favorite show, NewsRadio. So I wanted it for him as well. And semi-3) It has a NewsRadio minisode in there. I wouldn't buy a show I despise, just to get that bonus feature, but it was just a plus. I just wanted to see what a NewsRadio minisode looked like.
It's not some great show (or even good), but I'm glad I have it in my DVD collection. |

Finally bought it and it was only $12.99.
Did anyone else think there was a little homage to "Gilligan's Island" in the first episode? 66's very Ginger like conversation and agent 0's referring to Zach as little buddy. I'm up to "Goodbye Ms. Chip" and really liked seeing Dave Ketchum reprising his role. I thought it was quite nice having Zach calling him uncle. I'm not a big fan of the opening titles though. A drink machine just doesn't seem right. |

Still watching that interview I mentioned in another thread (which I will have to stop soon and go to bed since I have to work in the morning, lol) and Barbara states that she didn't care much for it, which I don't blame her at all. It just didn't "evolve"... (her exact words). She has said more than once in the interview that you can't take something (usually) from 'back when' and then try and make it again. I can't argue with her AT ALL!!
SO agree!!I thought it was very interesting that she says that she did the show because Don did and that he told her that he did it because she did it, HAHA. |
