Lopez is borderline ********. Of the smart shows today, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock and My Name Is Earl lead the way. For big laughs, Two and a Half Men is thriving. Sure, there are a lot fewer sitcoms today (just as there were before Cosby began a new wave in 1984) but a few years ago there were many sitcoms but most of them were cookie-cutter space fillers such as Suddenly Susan, Yes, Dear, Caroline in the City, Becker et al.

LOL! I don't know about that, but I didn't like how Lopez played the race card when he heard about his show being cancelled by ABC. He was quoted as saying TV just got more white. He also criticized the Geico like caveman style show that is to air this fall! He is right about that, However; his show had a six year run! That is longer than many hit sitcoms lasted on the air! For example, Still Standing lasted only four seasons, ALF lasted four seasons, Taxi five seasons and Gilligan's Island three! He should be ready to go forward with his career.
I agree with you on Suddenly Susan and Caroline in the City! They don't even show them on reruns anymore! At least not on any of the Detroit TV stations! I don't see them on cable, either! WGN shows Becker, usually late at night, on their schedule and Yes, Dear is on TBS on a regular basis. |

I still can't believe ABC is airing a show about Cavemen! Thank God for reruns of shows like Still Standing! I hope they put it on DVD soon!

The new fall sitcoms don't look half as funny as shows like Still Standing or King of Queens! Guess I will keep watching reruns!

I just started watching reruns of Still Standing on Lifetime and my local syndicate station. The show is excellent. It seems to be a "Married With Children" type of sitcom, but with a higher level of wit and sophistication. At the very least, there appears to be less put-downs and sexual innuendo jokes.
The situations demonstrate how a REAL family might cope with the issues and problems of their everyday lives. There is quality writing in this series and some good laughs as well. Users should check out Still Standing! Jack |
