Bring Back Still Standing! CBS, Lifetime, TBS or any network! It is a funny show! Better than most TV shows on network or cable! Mark Addy Rules! He should return to television! Either on a new Still Standing or a different family sitcom. He is awesome!

Three's Company was on before I was born , but it is one of favorite all-time shows! John Ritter was awesome in it! Watch the Show on TV LAND or rent or buy a DVD of the show! It is a riot! That is the trouble with most TV sitcoms today: They have nowhere near the humor level that Ritter and the rest of the cast had!

No wonder Network Television has almost abandoned the TV Sitcom in lieu of Reality TV! I spend more time watching reruns of classic sitcoms and recently cancelled ones [ like Still Standing] than watching what few are left on TV!

Why bother: Since most get cancelled [ Like Still Standing, Yes, Dear or the Class] or designated to Mid Season Replacements [ Like Old Christine] Thank God for reruns and boxed sets of shows on DVD! At least future generations can see when Network TV produced good sitcoms instead of Wacky Races, Talent Shows, Dancing with Celebrities or People on remote islands or aboard Pirate Ships that dominate the Network Landscape today!

I prefer sitcoms as well but the shows you mentioned had five and six year runs. Most reality shows with their 13-episode cycles never have that kind of longevity. And you never really know behind the scenes of a six year show. Often actors get tired of the grind and want stop anyway. Studios are usually content with their 100 episodes for syndication unless the series is a blockbuster. Networks can't use middle-performing series that become loss leaders due to increasing license fees. Let's just hope that shows like The Office inspire a new era of great sitcoms. Everything goes in cycles.

Still Standing was only on for four seasons! 2002-2006! Class lasted like one season and Old Adventures of New Christine [ whose success as a mid season replacement was one reason why Still Standing was not renewed for 2006-2007] has been put on midseason status for 2007-2008 by CBS!, even though Julia Louis- Dreyfus has been nominated for an Emmy! My point is that many new sitcoms are not given a fair shot! Two fairly recent examples: Courting Alex lasted 12 episodes! Out of Practice 14! It takes time for some shows to develop! Married with Children started slow,Cheers had low ratings in its first Season! Dick Van Dyke Show was cancelled after the first season, but brought back, and went on to be a classic show! It seems like the TV execs have an itchy trigger finger when it comes to sitcoms!

As far as reality shows go, I agree with you that many don't have as many episodes made as sitcoms, but there are quite a few reality shows that have lasted a number of years on TV ! I also agree things go it cycles, but I am tired of waiting for it to change! THANK GOD FOR DVDS AND CABLE RERUNS OF SHOWS!

Those shows you mentioned were well-produced shows. The Class and those other CBS shows aren't well-received shows. Christine coasts because Julia stars in it, but can't generate a big enough audience so it was on the bubble last season. You can't honestly consider them in the league of Cheers or even Married.

I wasn't trying so much to put them in the same League as Cheers, Dick Van Dyke or even Married With Children. To be fair, Most Sitcoms, even successful ones, will not approach the level of a show like Cheers. However, there should be ample time given to sitcoms, especially those promoted with huge fanfare.

As far as Old Christine goes, if Julia didn't star in it, it would have been long gone, too! In my humble opinion, it is like they are just throwing her a bone, perhaps to keep her along until CBS stars her in another sitcom.

Finally, I would like to point out an interesting sidenote about Married With Children: Years ago, When Married with Children was just starting to develop as a sitcom, Terry Rakolta, a suburban house wife from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, tried to start a boycott of Married with Children because of its sexual themes. Because of this attempted boycott, Millions of People starting watching the show, increasing its popularity.

I didn't have Fox at that time but I heard about it and as soon as I got Fox MWC was the first show I watched.

I remember watching E True Hollywood story { I think it was that show] one time : They interviewed the show's creators and they claimed they sent Rakolta a Christmas card thanking her! LOL! I wish they would have a Married with Children Reunion! GO BUNDY"S!

Yes, I remember Rakolta's protest. The show shifted to 9pm and became even more successful. Because it was groundbreaking and funny. Those cancelled CBS shows can't make that claim.

Where are the groundbreaking sitcoms of today? Perhaps Leonard Nimoy can go In Search of... Sitcoms! LOL! Seriously, though! It is a shame that there is such a lack of new sitcoms on the air! I guess I will continue to watch reruns of my favorite sitcom shows in syndication! Speaking of Syndication, Nick at Night is going to air reruns of George Lopez next fall!
