Steverino, threads tend to go "off-topic" don't let it discourage you from making another in the future.

I love this show. It's on my ION channel in the mornings. They don't have too many shows, but I can watch them over and over. I think I Love Lucy's character was patterned after Joan's.

No, Joan was patterned AFTER Lucy. I Love Lucy began in 1951. Joan debuted in 1952.

Not to mention Lucy was based on her character Liz from the radio program "My Favorite Husband"--created by Jess Oppenheimer (the same guy behind I Love Lucy).

Exactly. A radio show that had a great following for some time before the debut of Lucy.

What do I love about Joan?? 'Love' is a bit strong, but i always thought her character made the show. I dont think it was as much an ensemble group as in 'Lucy".
As a small kid of about 5 when I recall seeing 'IMJ', I think of the a capella voices singing the theme song. Something about it creeped me out. It sounded eerie to me then, tho it doesnt really now...

I found her to be funny and the comparisons to Lucy are not fair. She has her own style. People often blindly put the two in the same category under "scatterbrained", but I don't think either character were scatterbrained. Gracie Allen--yes......But Joan and Lucy were both smart characters who sometimes did foolish naive things......that's just my take.
