Default Joan in Kay Kyser film-Around the World

This is my first post-Hope you're all doing well. If this has been discussed, please advise:

Joan was in the 1943 RKO pic AROUND THE WORLD starring 40s bandleader Kay Kyser. I thought they worked well together and Joan was very good. Quite a bit of physical humor for Joan, and the action got a little rough. She also played off costars Mischa Auer, comic team Carney & Brown and Marcy McGuire (kind of a female Mickey Rooney, but a fine singer) well. The Kyser band was great as usual. Anybody see this? Not bad at all. Comes on TCM occasionally..

Well, two days and no responses. Obviously not much interest. Guess I'll be movin' on...

I MARRIED JOAN is not a show I see on any of the channels I get through my cable company. I know a few here do have that luxury of watching IMJ. This board is not very active because of that. I am sure if the episodes were being shown, we would have more input on this board.

I recall watching IMJ a very long time ago. I can't remember the episodes very well. I think I may have to buy the DVD's.

Your input on these boards is appreciated.

You're gonna have to be more patient on these boards, Steverino. With shows that are not in active syndication or particularly well known among today's viewers, you just won't see much a response. But if you are a fan of IMJ and want to discuss more, please, stick around. I would love to talk more about Joan Davis.

I used to like IMJ but I haven't seen it since the early 80s when it was on CBN. My memory isn't very good when it comes to it although I remember I liked it.

Oh yeah, CBN, I was trying to remember what channel it aired on. That is when I was watching it.

They had IMJ, Jack Benny, Life of Riley, George Burns, Love That Bob and many others ....I wish a channel would air a lineup like that again. I used to go to sleep watching them.

Exactly!! Oh God, what a great line-up that was. And it made for some entertaining evenings. I wish it were around.

Why Pat Robertson sold the channel is still one of the dumbest things ever done. (yea, he may have done it to fund evangelism), but still don't we need an outlet that shows good clean fun shows?

Yea you got that right. That channel had so many great shows. I remember on Saturdays it was western day and not Gunsmoke and Bonanza but rarely seen westerns too. I remember during the week they had classic shows too and of course late at night was their rarely seen 50's shows. They were TV Land before TV Land....and they sold out too.

It was because of CBN Cable, that I saw a lot of old shows for the first time--besides the forementioned, there was also The Patty Duke Show, Please Don't Eat the Daisies, The Ghost and Mrs Muir, Hazel, etc.

I think The Doris Day Show was even on it. That's the last time I ever saw it.

Also one of my favorites but short lived shows was Crazy Like a Fox and they aired that too.

Yep Doris Psssst.......check her out on DVD, Sonny

Also Hardcastle and McCormick.

But getting back to topic--I wonder how many episodes CBN had of I Married Joan? The public domain collections seem rather limited since there must be lack of a master source for the majority of the episodes. It is sad if this series has been lost to neglect.

Thanks Jude86- I appreciate the pep talk. The thread's already off on another tangent, so i'm barking up the wrong tree.
