Are you saying Gidget was awful or TFN? I beg to differ on both, but I definitely will about TFN. It has become very fashionable to bash TFN, but there's nothing stranger about a flying nun than a flying Kansas farm boy, but we seem to look the other way for him. TFN was just as fanciful. It's picked on often because it had a light premise, and because "cool" people won't defend it. The writing was on the same level (or even a bit above) other shows of the time period. To slag it for its premise is irrational, imo.

I love all manner of sophisticated TV shows, movies and theatre, but I *still* love the Flying Nun, chiefly because of the relationship between Carlos and Sister Bertrille. I refuse to let others knock this sweet little show. So there. 80) End of rant.

Well said melodyc! Bewitched refrenced TFN when Uncle Arthur flew like Superman. He Flew from Sam's car and Sam said, "Uncle Arthur, you get down here now, the Flying Nun isn't gonna like it". or words to that effect. It was hilarious.

SMALLVILLE's Clark Kent is from another planet (Krypton), which explains his
flight (and other super powers). But there was also a logical explanation given
for Sister Bertrille's flight: her small size (90 pounds), the shape of the coronet (headgear) with sides that look like wings, and the strong, gusty winds in San
Juan, Puerto Rico. Works for me.

Default It wasn't uncommon...

...'gidgetgrape', for Screen Gems/Columbia to "recycle" its sets (and its "suburban streets" on the "Columbia Ranch") back and forth throughout their other sitcoms during the same season. For example, if Samantha & Darrin's living room on "BEWITCHED" could be used again on "GIDGET" {"Chivalry Isn't Dead, It's Just Hiding"}, "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" {"Whatever Became Of Baby Custer?"}, and "THE FARMER'S DAUGHTER" {???}, it WAS. I'm pretty sure some "familiar" locations seen on "THE FLYING NUN" were seen on SG's other shows at the same time!!!

True tv knowledge, I seen or read an interview and one of the Actors said that Filmways was cheap and would recycle sets. They didn't even have a back lot and would use real houses as exterior shots, as in the case of the Beverly Hillbillies.

true. In a couple episodes of I DREAM OF JEANNIE, the Stevens house from BEWITCHED can be seen in the background. And, at least once on IDOJ that I know of; they showed Tony working in an office-and it was Darrin Stevens office.

And in another post on here, someone said that in the opening of HAZEL-which was also filmed at Screen Gems-you can see shots of some of the houses from I DREAM OF JEANNIE, BEWITCHED, and some of the other shows that were filmed there-DENNIS THE MENACE, THE DONNA REED SHOW among others.
