Yes, Nat Hiken was a genius. There is a great book written about his life that came out about 2 years ago. It is well worth picking up.

We all wish that Car 54 came to TVLand but it doesn't look like it will anytime soon.

I believe that Billy Sands (who later played "Tinker" in McHale's Navy) was his partner in the body shop. Al Lewis also appeared in another episode before becoming Officer Schnauser. It was about an older lady that refused to move from her condemned building. I don't remember the name of the episode though.

And if you watch these two classics back to back, you'll notice a similarity in style. In the same vein, I noticed that Fred Gwynne played the role of an eating champion in an episode of "Sgt. Bilko." That's probably how he became acquainted with Nat Hiken and landed the co-starring role in "Car 54..."
