The first season episodes of Superman starring Georege Reeves are shocking and terrifying.

I encountered the Adventures of Superman as a youth in the early 70s. A UHF station had a wonderful 2-hour block on Saturday nights (8-10) that featured The Adventures of Superman, The Lone Ranger, The Cisco Kid and Highway Patrol. I really enjoyed those Saturday nights!
Also, the B&W episodes are the premier episodes in this series. Seems the producers change the slant of the show when it went color to attract more of a kiddie audience.

Hi:

I'm new to these boards. The old 1950s version of Superman was incredibly corny by today's standards but very entertaining nonetheless. I'm not into all this angst driven melodrama that is in the later TV versions. Just give me a simple story with a villian and Lois Lane and Jimmy and Perry in peril and I'll watch. The later shows are like soap operas where Superman seems like he needs to be in therapy. One thing that is hilarious to me is that these people in the 50s series always wore the same outfits on the show making it look even more like a live action cartoon.

By the way, does anyone know if this was the first series to be produced in color and if not, what was? It went color in like 1953 while most shows were still done in b&w until the mid1960s.
