Hmmm... okay, since I wrote like 5 pages yesterday....

She smiled and slipped off her coat and tossed it aside before walking up to him.

He swallowed and blinked a couple of time, still not quite able to believe this. “C...CD...” He somehow managed to get out.

“Shhh.” She put her forefinger on his lips and took the two glasses from him, putting them aside. Then she slipped her hand into his and basically just dragged him along to his bedroom for he still was in shock and unable to move or talk on his own.

By now he was incredibly aroused, which of course was showing through his boxers too. CD brushed her lips against his ever so slightly and then parted again to pull his shirt over his head and crawled into his bed.

Of course he right away leaped for the bed and climbed on top of her, his lips crushing down on hers as they started to kiss in a wild frenzy. “Tell me I’m not dreaming this!” He huskily whispered into her ear as his hands started to explore her body and caress her through what little she was still wearing.

She moaned because she had longed for his touch for so long now. “You’re not dreaming.” She promised and looked deep into his eyes, slipping her hand into his boxers.

“Oh god!” He groaned and they quickly ripped each other’s underwear off. Since they had both longed to be together so desperatly they were more than ready for each other and looking deep into her eyes Nate made sure once more that he had her permission before slowly starting to make love to her. He tried his best to make it last as long as possible but it was over way too soon for both of them. Panting heavily Nate wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. “I hope it wasn’t too bad...” For him it had been amazing but somehow he thought he could have done more for CD.

“It was exactly what I needed Nate.” She assured him and passionately kissed him before he started to go down on her and gave her more than she had hoped for tonight. Of course she returned that favor and when she knew he was close she straddled him and rode him into sweet oblivion.

He couldn’t believe how happy and full of bliss he was, just because CD was in his arms. “I really want tonight to last forever.” He whispered into her ear, once more realizing how badly he needed her. “I really wanna be with you.”

She swallowed at how right this felt, like it was the perfect night for them both, if there wasn’t one, well two little things that ironically seperated them because they had been united. She felt like crying but didn’t want to cause a scene right now and just enjoy the moment. “You talk too much.” She whispered against his lips before claiming another passionate kiss and seducing him all over again.

This time they took their time and their lovemaking, though slow and tender, was passionate and intense. As soon as they were lying panting in each others arms again CD yawned and fell asleep exhausted from the day and mostly from the incredible sex.

Nate smiled because she hadn’t even wrapped the covers around herself. “Sweet dreams.” He whispered and kissed her temple and gently caressed all over her body, wanting to soak up her beauty with his finger to savour this moment forever. Suddenly he had to chuckle when he noticed the slight bulge in her midsection. Immediately he knew that he was the cause for that.

o, that was so great!!!!! now make him find out!!! ;) ;)

He blamed himself for feeding her with chocolate and other goodies permanently, so now it was his fault that she had gained some weight. Continueing to caress her little belly he wondered if he should suggest a diet or something. But he had to frown at that. ‘Nah I’m not gonna be an *******.’ He thought. Besides he didn’t really care. He loved her unconditionally. With a broad smile on his face he couldn’t resist to kiss her tummy and then cradled her in his arms, wrapping the covers close around them.

She stirred a little and let out a sleepy whimper but didn’t wake up. Snuggeling close to her he soon fell asleep himself.

In the morning he slowly started to wake up with the first sunbeams. Still holding her, he snuggled even closer to her and inhaled deeply when he realized that in fact he wasn’t holding her, but a pillow. Scared he felt around the bed and his eyes snapped open when it was empty. “CD?” He called out and looked around the room, figuring she might have gone to the bathroom or something.

No answer. So he called out louder this time. “CD? Where are you?” He listened for anything as he jumped out of bed and put on his boxers. “Dammit CD, this isn’t funny! Where are you?” He called out frustrated, his fear creeping over him more and more.

“CD! No, please!” He sighed and realized it really had been too good to be true. He looked through the room again for any trace of her, but there wasn’t. Her stuff was gone and so was his shirt and a pair of jeans that had been tossed over a chair. That made him smile a little bit again and he was glad that she hadn’t left the way she had come to him, wearing hardly anything.

Sighing he stopped looking around his bedroom when he found a note at his nightlight. He picked it up and read it. “Thanks for last night – had a blast. C.”

Upon reading that he didn’t know if he was angry, disappointed, upset or just wanted to crawl into bed again and cry like a baby. “That can’t be true dammit!” He kicked the chair around full of anger because she had left him without warning.

Frustrated he got ready for work and hoped he could talk to her there. When he got there CD was sitting at her desk already, finishing up a report. She glanced up from that and looked at him. “Hey.”

“Hey.” He repeated, considering how to start what he wanted to tell her.

Feeling uncomfortable because he was staring at her CD got up and wanted to get some coffee. But Nate didn’t let her and just acted on impulse, grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her with him into the closest interrogation room. “What the hell?!?” She muttered at that.

“I wanna talk.” He said and closed the door behind him.

“About?” She hissed as if she had no clue why he felt the need for conversation.

“About where you were this morning for instance.” He whispered.

“At home!” She exclaimed and then whispering herself now added, “I left you a note!”

“Yeah I saw that.” He growled.

“So? What’s the problem then?” Swallowing she tried her hardest to stay calm and collected.

“Nothing I guess.” He muttered. “But why did you go? You could have stayed at least, you know?” It was clear to him now that she had just used him like some human dildo or whatever. Somehow that thought made him feel sick. But then again it was better than nothing.

‘Yeah, why did I leave?!?’ She thought to herself. ‘Stupid question... because had I stayed I probably would’ve had to explain my morning sickness today.’ Shrugging she looked at Nate. “Look, I... I shouldn’t even have come to your place anyways... that probably was the most stupid thing I ever did. I’m sorry. But it happened and we can’t turn back time, so can we please not make a big deal out of it?” She asked and felt her heart break. If it was just her she’d throw herself into his arms again right away. But she had her kids to think about too, and giving into her needs without thinking about the consequences last night had been bad enough, she couldn’t make it even worse now. She had realized how damn stupid she had acted when she had woken up in the middle of the night, feeling sick. Glad that he hadn’t woken up she had sneaked back into his bedroom, gotten dressed, into his clothes, for lack of her own, and went home again.

Nate didn’t even get the chance to answer before the door opened and their Captain walked in. “Ah, Raina was right, you’re in here.” She said and looked at Nate. “The DA just called, they’re rolling up an old case again, something you worked on at Vice.” Checking her watch she continued. “They’re having a meeting in half an hour, so you better hurry.”

“Damn!” He said, looked at CD and waited for Kate to leave again so he could at least finish his conversation with CD quickly. But Kate just looked at him, waiting for him to leave, not moving an inch she cleared her throat.

”I.. uhh... I better go then...” Stammering he left the room.

Once they were alone Kate looked at CD hopefully. “Did you tell him?”

“No of course not!” CD exclaimed. “We talked about something else...” To change the topic she motioned towards the door. “So what was that about?”

“Why Nate left?” Kate asked.

“No, why Santa got picked up by Rudolph the rednosed reindeer...” CD rolled her eyes.

Chuckling Kate answered the question. “Well the DA called. They found out somebody had tempered with important evidence on one of Nate’s old cases, so now they rolled it up again and are trying their best to redo it.”

CD cringed at that. “Ouch.. not good. How long do you think it’ll take?”

Shrugging Kate walked towards the door again. “A week at least I think.”

“Oooh!” Suddenly CD looked all excited and grinned at Kate.

Thinking her sudden joy was about Nate’s absence Kate frowned. “What?”

“Pistachios!” CD exclaimed like she had found the holy grail. “And blue M&M’s, the crispy ones!”

“I knew I shouldn’t have asked.” Kate muttered to herself and gave CD a look. “Do me a favor and try to keep your random cravings under control, okay?” Sighing she shook her head. “Can’t you just be like other pregnant women and crave pickles?”

Upon that CD shook her head and wrinkled her nose. “Nah... that’d be boring if everyone craved pickles, wouldn’t it Kate?” Then she smirked. “But some jalapenos would be nice...”

“During your lunchbreak. Right now you have a case. Team up with Raina while Nate is gone.” With that she left the room again, really not wanting to hear what else would add to that list of food that she wanted.

Slightly growling CD left too and walked up to Raina. “The DA needed Nate because of some old...”

“Yeah I know.” Nodding Raina cut her off. “I heard it from Jerry who overheard how Darlene, who’s a friend of Jessica, who is the DA’s secretary’s sister...”

“ANYHOW...” With a growl CD cut her off. “We have a case together now, Let’s go.” She grabbed the casefile and looked through it while they made their way to the car.

Of course CD drove to the scene while Raina kept on babbling. “So Jerry oberheard Darlene talk to Tiffany, and Tiffany is by the way the ex-girlfriend of Mark, who works in the coroner’s office..”

‘This is gonna be one long case.’ CD thought to herself, not really listening to whatever Raina was going on about. All she heard was a list of names. And then she had to smile again, wondering if they’d be boys or girls. And suddenly she became interested in what Raina was saying, or her namelist rather. ‘Let’s see...’ she thought. ‘If they’re boys... Jerry? Mark? Nah. And Darlene and Tiffany? Oh geez no...’ Soon she realized that out of all names on Raina’s list none would be even a possible for her little tykes.

Great job, but toooo short. Post more ASAP! Please?:D

She pulled up at Division Street where a murder had taken place. They got out of the car and walked up to an elderly man with a hat, who leaned over the corpse that was lying on the front porch, passing some uniforms who were canvassing the area.

“Hey Steven.” CD smiled at the ME. “Haven’t seen you around in a while.”

“CD.” He looked up and smiled back at her. “I’ve been on vacation actually. Travelled around the whole world! You wouldn’t believe all the things I’ve seen!” Then he snapped for air slightly before sneazing heavily. “Haaa...chi!”

“Bless you.” Raina right away handed him a tissue.

Taking it gladly he blew his nose and looked at CD again. “I caught some bug in Australia... I can’t seem to get rid of that.”

CD quickly took a couple of steps back, not wanting to risk an infection in case that was contagious. Even though Steven was a notorious hypochondriac, she didn’t want to take any risks now because of her babies.

Looking at her slightly puzzled over her reaction he motioned towards the young black woman. “You change your partners more often than your underwear huh? Didn’t know you have a new one again.”

“Well yeah, but it’s not her. My new partner’s name is Nate, but he had to work with the DA. This is Raina Washington.” She introduced her. “And please do me a favor and ban my underwear from your mind again.”

Laughing at that he had to sneeze yet again before continueing to joke around with her. He really was glad to see some familiar faces again, even though he had had a great time during his vacation, he had missed all of this. “Why? I heard you also got rid of the old husband? Not looking for a new one yet?”

Rolling her eyes she growled now. “Thanks but no thanks... I’m outta that buisness.” She muttered and then became professional again right away. “So what about him here?” She motioned towards the corpse.

“Well he’s outta buisness himself.” Steven answered while Raina rolled her eyes over the joke. Then Steven started to give them the fact about the middle aged man. “Male, caucasian, blunt force trauma to the head. Estimated time of death would have been around midnight.”

While Raina made some notes CD just nodded. “Who found him?”

“His wife. She’s in...” Because he had to sneeze yet again he couldn’t finish his sentence right away. “She’s inside.” He repeated after blowing his nose.

Nodding CD looked at Raina and then scribbled something down into her own little notebook. “Let’s split. I’ll go interview the wife and you...”

“I’ll start looking for the murder weapon?” She asked excitedly.

“No. You go and get these things from the closest supermarket, that’s important!” She handed her the slip of paper after ripping it out of her notebook.

Not questioning her Raina took it from her but frowned when she saw the list. “Pistachios, blue crispy M&M’s, a jar of jalapenos, extra hot, Snapple Peach, turkey sandwich, Dr Pepper, half a dozen Crunch bars...” She read out loud and gave CD a confused look. “You need all of this urgently for this case?”

CD nodded and then laughed. “Oh hang on...” She took the paper from Raina again who giggled, thinking CD had joked around with her. Then CD handed it back to her again. “Forgot the most important thing: chocolate icecream!”

Frowning yet again Raina watched the tall blonde woman closely, looking for any hint that this was a joke.

“What are you waiting for? Geez, get going!” Rolling her eyes CD walked into the house.

With another loud sneeze Steven caught Raina’s attention again. Since he hadn’t seen CD in over a year, and not everyday like all the others, he right away had noticed the changes, the longer hair, but more importantly the bigger belly. And being a ME he had a pretty good idea about what was going on. It wasn’t any of his buisness though, so he didn’t ask. But he assumed her friends knew. “You better listen to her.” He chuckled before blowing his nose again. “You really don’t wanna get on CD’s bad side... that’s the first thing I learned about her, and I know her ever since she was a rookie. But especially at the moment I can imagine... bad idea... go and get whatever she wants.” After having said that, and yet another sneeze, he exclaimed that he was done with the body and it was packed into a bodybag.

“This city is full of weirdos...” Raina muttered to herself, strolling off to get her assignment done.

By the time she returned with everything CD had asked for, she had just finished the interrogation and shot Raina a glare. “Finally! What the hell took you so long?”

“I...” Raina started but CD shut her up again right away.

“Whatever, I don’t even wanna hear it!” Grabbing the paperbag from her she tossed her the carkeys. “You drive.” With that she got into the passenger’s seat and started to rummage through the bag.

Raina got in, thinking to herself, ‘CD on PMS is definitely worse than anything I’ve seen before... hell CD on a good day already is worse than Godzilla on the run. How am I going to survive this case?’

CD right away tore the pistachios bag open and opened the window as she started to eat them, carelessly flipping the shells out of the window.

Raina glanced over at that and used the window controls on the driver’s side of the car to let the window glide up again electronically.

CD didn’t notice and wanted to toss the next pair of shells out, but one ricocheted off the window and right against her temple. “Hey OUCH! Bitch nut!” She muttered while she rubbed her temple, shot Raina a glare and opened the window again to resume flipping the shells of the devoured pistachios out of it.

Not happy about that at all Raina glared back at her and closed the window again. CD of course opened it again right away and flipped some more shells out.

“Okay, stop it!” Closing the window yet again Raina had enough of it. “That’s pollution! Stop polluting our environment!”

“This is a highway... and those are NATURAL pistachio shells!” CD hissed back and just to provoke Raina did it again.

Of course, Raina, now ambitioned to prove her point, closed it again. “It’s still litter! And tossing that out of the window is pollution! Hell I could arrest you for littering!”

“Okay, fine. You win.” CD was way too annoyed to continue with this ridiculous argument and didn’t want to reopen the window a billion times. “I’m SO incredibly sorry I littered this beautiful highway with my nuclear pistachio shells...” With that she opened the glove compartment of their department car and tossed the shells in there instead.

Upon that Raina stared at her in disbelief. “How DARE you do that?”

“Well, you wanted me to stop tossing them outta the window and I did!” Some more shells found their way to the glove compartment. “So stop bitching around and shut your face before I do it for you! Got it?” She glared at Raina, ready to just throw her out of the driving car.

Gulping Raina nodded and shut up for the rest of the ride,’I’ll let it slip this time...’ she thought to herself, even though she probably wouldn’t dare to ever actually oppose CD.

When they got to the Division again CD had pretty much wolfed down whatever had been in the bag. She finished off the last Crunch bar as they rounded the corner and walked into the bullpen.
They quickly filled Kate in on the case before going back to work. Or rather CD went back to solving the case while Raina went on errand after errand for her, all of them involving getting food.

Very funny! But, I can hardly wait until one of the Inspectors (Namely Nate) finds out! Post more soon!! Please?

Eventually Raina got fed up with that though and went to Kate, telling her about everything, the pistachio shells included.

Kate didn’t have the nerve for that though, because she had real work that was waiting to get done and also putting CD’s pregnancy into consideration here. “Raina?” She looked at her, cutting her off mid-sentence.

“Yeah?” Smiling Raina looked up at her.

“You wanna learn from CD, right?” Kate smiled back at her.

Raina nodded right away. “Of course! She’s a great cop! I’m so happy I can work with her, but buying food...”

Kate cut her off again. “If you want to learn from CD, do whatever she tells you to do. She has her reasons.”

Pouting Raina agreed, wondering what kind of reasons thouse were though. “Okay okay...”

“And Raina?” Kate smiled at her again. “Right now you’re going to clean out that glove compartment again! Dismissed.”

She couldn’t believe that but knew better than to argue and growling left to do that. “I’m an Inspector dammit! Not their damn maid!”

“Raina? What are you mumbling there?” Jinny had walked by her at that moment.

“Nothing.” She muttered and walked into the elevator that Jinny had just walked out of.

At the same time the meeting at the DA’s office ended. The DA was furious because no one knew what really was going on. Furthermore the ADA whose case it had been originally was retired meanwhile and he had to put a new ADA on the case. At least he was glad that Theodore Blumenthal was a very promising ADA and a really talented lawyer. So he hoped they’d win this after all. He gave Teddy some more tips while the two cops walked off.

“Man, can you believe that happened?” Nate asked the other vice cop who had worked that case with him.

“No. It’d ridiculous, really.” The tall black man answered and then smirked. “So forget about the case... did you hear Toni and Bruce jr. hooked up?”

“What? No, I had no clue! She’s still mad at me for some reason, we hardly ever talk anymore.” He sighed but shrugged. “But that’s her problem.”

Bear laughed. “She’s jealous, that’s all, she’ll get over it... oh, and guess who else hooked up! You’ll never believe this one!”

“Not a clue.” He shrugged.

“Don and Mickey! Don broke up with... whatever his name was... and Mickey got him hooked on the whole Disney stuff. It’s hilarious.” He chuckled.

He shook his head. “Sounds like there’s a lot going on.”

“Yep, that’s for sure. Vincent and Carol decided to have a baby, they’re trying but no luck so far. But enough of our bunch. What’s going on with you and CD?” He asked curiously.

“Me and CD?” Nate frowned.

Bear laughed. “Oh come on! Don’t play innocent with me, we all saw way more than we bargained for that night at the Anchorside. So everybody knows you two are a couple.”

At that Nate sighed. “Actually we’re not.”

Frowning Bear looked at him. “Come on, you two were all over each other that night! And she did take you home...”

“Yeah she did.” He nodded. “But it was a one night stand...” Then it was he who frowned. “Well two night stand I guess...”

“Wanna elaborate that?” Bear asked.

“Why the hell not...” Nate shrugged and started to explain, actually glad he had a buddy he could talk to about the whole thing now. “Well, you know she took me home.” He grinned. “And we had the most incredible sex ever...” Then he frowned. “Well I think we did... we trashed her appartment but didn’t actually remember it. And we were both incredibly embarrassed the next morning I guess. And I mean after all we’re partners and all.. so we agreed to leave it be and that it was just a one night stand. At first it was weird though... and I guess things did change a little between us.” He sighed. “But not for the worse or anything... I don’t know... we’re still friends and all.” He sighed again.

Arghhhhhhh, Cat! Why don't you let him know??? LET HIM KNOW!!!!

Nate just smirked. “You have no idea man. I caught a glimpse of paradise last night.”

“So now what?” He frowned, not understanding. “You and CD are partners with benefits now or what?” He somehow couldn’t believe that was all, they seemed so in love.

“Not even that I’m afraid.” Nate sighed. “She’s acting so weird around me lately! Sometimes she looks at me as if she wants to just rip my clothes off, but at other times it seems like she just wants to strangle me!”

Laughing Bear patted his shoulder. “Sounds like marriage to me...”

Nate glared at him. “Not funny at all!” He sighed. “Right from the start she made it clear that it was gonna be a one night stand...”

“The first or the second?” Bear asked.

“The second. We don’t really remember the first...” He said.

“Some things are hard to remember, some things you never forget.” Smirking at how fitting this was Bear winked at his friend.

“Nobody else ever made me feel this way! I like the way she moves me, how she knows what’s on my mind all of the time.” He grinned. “And I’m a helluva glad that she didn’t have to fake anything with me.”

“And now you’re thinking of ways to make her change her plans because you can’t get enough of her, huh?” Bear grinned.

“Something like that.” With another sigh Nate hung his head down. “But I’m afraid nothing on God’s green earth could make her change her mind.”

“Sorry pal.” He sighed. “You love her, huh?” He asked the obvious.

“No.” Nate said right away, not wanting to admit it, but feeling guilty for denying it he immediately corrected himself. “Yes.” Then he sighed and ran his hand through his hair, because he know how pathetic he must sound. “Maybe... I don’t know. I mean... we’re great partners, amazing friends...”

“... the sex is incredible...” Bear chuckled.

“Oh dammit! This is too confusing!” Nate growled. “If only she knew what she wanted... it’s like she actually wants but something is stopping her.” Sighing he thought about that. “If only I knew what...” He’d do anything for her, give up everything and anything. Hell he had even given up his dream of a big family and told her he didn’t want kids, just because he knew that that was what she wanted. “If only I knew what else to do to make her mine...” He whispered, not realizing he had thought out loud.

“Buy her diamond rings and lots of shiny things,,,” Bear suggested. “That seems to work on TV.”

“Too bad that I’m not an actor then.” He sighed again and motioned towards the lawyers. “Come on, we have to go.”

Sighing Bear shook his head and followed him, hoping he’d figure it out eventually.

While her partner for the day was cursing as she was cleaning the car, CD caught up on some paperwork and with every report she had finished she walked into Kate’s office and handed them to her, instead of just waiting til she had finished all and hand her the whole pile.

Of course after a while Kate caught up on that and figured that CD probably felt the need to talk but being her stubborn self couldn’t quite open up yet. Putting her glasses down she looked at the tall blonde as she received another of those reports. “How about we go for a walk and find you something to feed your babies, huh?”

Smiling CD nodded. “Sounds perfect.”

Raina was almost done with the car when she saw how CD and Kate went to Kate’s car. CD was chewing on yet another chocolate bar and they got into the car and drove off.

“How can anybody eat like that?” She muttered to herself, watching after them.

After a while CD and Kate arrived at the Golden Gate Park and strolled through it, each eating a hot dog.

Kate broke the silence. “So how’s the pregnancy?”

“Ya know...” Shrugging CD took a bite off her bun and chewing answered. “Always hungry.”

“And horny.” Kate added chuckling, remembering how she had told her that.

“Yeah... kinda....” To her friend’s surprise CD tossed the rest of her hotdog into the nearest bin.

“Did something happen CD?” Kate asked and they sat down on a nearby bench.

At that she started to sob. “I’m such a slut!”

“Oh shhh, honey.” Kate hugged her. “That’s not true, don’t say that!”

“Yes it is!” Sniffing she looked at Kate. “I came on to him like a whore and seduced him again. That was the stupidest thing I ever did! I should have thought about the babies... I never should have gone there!”

Blinking Kate tried to understand. “Where did you go? And when? I don’t understand CD.”

Sighing CD started at the beginning. “To him, yesterday night. I just needed it so badly, so I dressed like some Playboy slut and went to his place and seduced him the moment I walked inside. We screwed and I left in the middle of the night and left him a note.”

“He being the baby’s father?” Kate asked to make sure.

Nodding CD sniffed again. “It was so perfect. He even said he wanted to be together with me or something like that.”

Upon that Kate smiled. “But that’s great!”

“No it’s not, it’s horrible! I had to leave because we can never be together.” She had to cry even harder.

“Why not? I don’t understand.... he isn’t married, is he?” Kate now asked.

Shaking her head CD answered. “Hell no! You know why... if we’d get together I couldn’t hide the pregnancy from him forever.”

“But if he wants to be together with you, maybe he wants to start a family too.” Kate smiled and stroked through CD’s hair. “Why don’t you just try telling him?”

“Because he doesn’t want kids, no way, and if I told him, and told him that I’m keeping the babies he’d feel bad and think he’s responsible too or something.” She explained.

Blinking Kate looked at her. “Honey, he IS responsible as well...”

“Well yeah, but, ya know... I don’t want his money or anything. So please drop it, alright? I’m not gonna tell him and I won’t sleep with him again.” She said and Kate opened her mouth to speak again, but CD knew what she wanted to say and stopped her before she had the chance to say it. “And I won’t tell anyone else either. Not Nate, not Raina, not Jinny and Magda, no one.”

“I wish I could understand that.” Kate shook her head. “You know how I think about that, but I gotta accept your decision. And I’m still gonna support you anyways.”

“I’m glad you do.” CD admitted and her phone rang. She answered and talked for a moment and then hung up again. “That was Raina, apparently we have a witness who just walked into the station. We better go back there.”

“Yes Captain.” Kate joked and CD laughed.

“Oh geez, I didn’t mean for that to sound like I’m bossing you around... boss.” She smiled at her.

“I know.” Chuckling they walked back to the car. “But it was funny.”

Once they were back CD and Raina started to question the witness, where CD soon realized that in fact he had to be the killer beacuse he knew certain things only they killer would know and what else made him look suspicious was how badly he tried to blame someone else. So CD started to grill him hard until he broke and confessed to everything.

The weekend came and Nate had to spend most of the time in court and at the DA’s office. CD and Raina continued to work together and Kate had talked to CD about the errands she kept on sending Raina on and CD had promised to cut down on that at least and let Raina work some more. They did that and actually got along quite well.

Kate then took CD shopping for maternity clothes, they bought baggys and sweatshirts and stuff like that, all of that hid CD’s now fast growing belly pretty well during the next few weeks. No one really noticed anything, though sometimes someone would think that she looked somewhat chubbier lately, but no one really was surprised because she was constantly stuffing her face. And no one said a thing either because it didn’t matter to them.

As for her and Nate, they soon were back to normal again, he had forgiven her for using him like she had done that night, mainly because he just loved her so much that he would forgive her absolutely everything, but also because he kept telling himself that at least he knew now, that his biggest dream had come true and that a one night stand still was better than nothing.

Sometimes their playful banter and flirting was killing both of them though, because it teased them with something they were sure they could never have, still unaware that it would become real if only they stopped pretending and were honest with each other.

Every now and then Kate continued to try to talk CD into telling her friends and her partner, but didn’t succeed, so eventually she gave up and hoped maybe one of them would realize soon enough. She also continued to accompany CD to the doc visits, and each time she smiled at how proud CD was. She had decided not to find out about the babies’ genders yet, though she didn’t really know why and she was reading lots of babybooks about everything, pregnancy, birth, the early years, about breastfeeding, the first steps, toilet-training and tantrums. She wanted to do everything right. But both Kate and the doc assured her that she would do just fine, and that no matter how many books she read, none of them could actually prepare her for what was lying ahead of her.

One day when CD was in her seventeenth week, the whole gang had gathered for lunch at the Anchorside. They had just gotten their food and Magda had started to tell them that Gabe couldn’t really satisfy her in bed anymore. No one really listened though.

To change the topic Raina asked about their best sex ever and then said that for her it had been her first time, and the worst had been with Dom.

Kate just smirked and said that she wasn’t kissing and telling but admitted that Louis wasn’t exactly a rocket in bed and that she’d love to get it on with Bruce Willis because she thought he was hot.

Jinny then said that she probably didn’t remember her worst since she had been too drunk at that time, and that she was convinced that the best still was ahead of her.

“How can you be so sure about that?” Magda asked.

“Because with Teddy it keeps on getting better every time!” She smirked. They were officially back together again and were all lovey-dovey with each other, glad that they had overcome their difficulties and had forgiven each other for whatever had happened in the past and now happily were looking towards a future together, curious about what it would hold for them.

Upon that Mag rolled her eyes. “Wait til you’re married and have to fake it...”

“Been there, done that.” Jinny said and they all laughed.

“Uh huh, me too.” Kate admitted.

“HOLY CRAP!” CD called out all of a sudden.

“I guess that means Paul wasn’t all that amazing when it came to the horizontal boogie either, eh?” Jinny laughed.

“Huh, what?” CD asked grinning broadly.

They all laughed. “I think she’s a million miles away from home.” Nate announced, he had gotten used to her drifting off with her thoughts lately. Then he pretended to have a voice transmitter in front of him and made a crackling noise. “Earth control to Major CD. Did you find intelligent life out there already?”

CD gave him a look, she made the same crackling sound. “Nope, how about you? Did anyone happen to come across an intelligent man on earth meanwhile?”

“Very funny CD.” Rolling his eyes Nate started to eat while the women laughed.

“Excuse me.” CD then said and got up and walked outside.

Kate followed her, having a hunch that her sudden exclamation had been because of the babies. “What happened?” She asked, walking up to a grinning CD.

“The most amazing thing!” CD announced and caressed all over her belly. “I just felt them! It was kind of weird and felt like... I don’t know... like being on a rollercoaster or something. Oh oh there!” She reached for Kate’s hand and put it on her belly. “They did it again! They move!” She announced proud like only a mother could be.

Smiling Kate shook her head. “I can’t feel anything yet CD. It’ll take a while until someone on the outside can feel them move, but it’s amazing that you felt them!” She hugged her. “I’m so happy for you.”

“Yeah, me too.” Grinning CD hugged her back and had tears of joy in her eyes. “My babies are moving! I’m so excited, it’s incredible.”

“Yeah it is.” Kate agreed.

Together they walked in again and CD soon got used to feeling her babies move, but was still very excited about it. Kate tried to feel it every day until a few weeks later she finally was able to feel them as well.

At 22 weeks CD realized that she really needed a plan now if she wanted to continue to hide it. She had needed a file from the archives and as she was riding up again, a woman who was in the elevator with her smiled at her and asked how far along she was.

Bedazzled CD looked back at her and down to her tummy and realized that she really had gotten rather big already. She answered the lady and when the elevator stopped she dropped the file on her desk and rushed into Kate’s office. “How bad is it? Honestly.”

“What?” Confused Kate looked up at her.

“Well THAT.” CD pointed at her belly and told her about the woman in the elevator.

“I see.” Kate nodded and looked at her belly. “Well it is kind of obvious when you know it...” She started.

“But that woman couldn’t possibly know!” She looked at Kate scared. “Are there rumors or stuff? Is anybody else suspecting it?”

“Not that I know of. And trust me, if there were I would know. Raina fills me in on all the gossip as soon as she hears it.” Kate told her. “They think you eat more and got somewhat chubbier, that’s all.”

“Really?” Not knowing if she should be glad over no one suspecting it or upset over being called chubby behind her back CD frowned.

“Really.” Looking at her sternly Kate motioned her to finally sit down. “You know that I’d never lie to you.”

“Yeah.” CD nodded and sighed. “But since it’s starting to be obvious I need a plan...” Suddenly she had an idea. “Hey how much vacation time do I have left? Enough to take it all now? And after that the maternity leave and then no one will know I had my babies when I get back again. I’ll just say I was on an extended vacation.”

“Oh CD.” Kate sighed herself. That plan would work, but she hated how CD didn’t want her friends to know. “Why don’t you just tell them? Do you want to hide your kids from the rest of the world forever?”

Putting her hands on her belly she said, “Not from the rest of the world. Just from them... for now...”

“But they’re your friends! CD I don’t understand that.” Kate shook her head.

“The father is a friend of mine too... and I’d feel bad if I told Jin and Mag but not him.” She finally gave her part of her reason for hiding it.

“Whatever happened to him anyways?” Kate now asked because she hadn’t heard about him again since that one night stand thing.

“Nothing. We’re back to being friends and stuff, hang out sometimes... no more, no less.” CD said truthfully. Every now and then she and Nate got together for pizza and a movie or something, neither of them brought the topic up again and they strictly kept their hands to themselves and their relationship on a professional level, even though that was damn hard.

Neither of them wanted to date someone else either though, they just couldn’t imagine to ever be with someone else again. Apart from that, for CD, her babies already were more important to her than anything else could ever be. She’d sacrifice her life for them in the blink of an eye.

“And you still don’t wanna tell him.” Kate just stated, she could understand CD about that one. From what she had told her that guy really was dead set on never having kids, and she could understand and supported CD’s decision to raise them alone. Though she wondered why CD also wanted to stay friends with him and wondered how that would work, that on the one hand she was hiding his kids from him, but on the other hand wanted to keep their friendship up. But she also knew that if Candace DeLorenzo wanted something and had set her mind on it, she usually got it, no matter what it took.

Nodding CD confirmed that. “So am I gonna get that leave or do I have to go over your head in order to get it? And trust me, I would do that.”

Kate realized that she wasn’t joking and agreed. “Alright, fine. You have enough vacation time. Stay another week though, I can’t put you on such a long leave overnight.”

“Of course, no problem, I guess another week won’t matter that much.” CD got up again and hugged her Captain. “Thank you so much for everything, I really appreciate all of your help.”

Chuckling Kate hugged her back. “Oh don’t you think just because you’ll be on vacation officially you’ll get rid of me that easily. It’s about time we start buying babystuff and start on a nursery. Are you gonna keep your appartment or do you want to move?”

“I wanna stay for now. I have a spare room there, and I already have plans to change it into a nursery.” She smiled. “Maybe in a few years or so I’ll move, buy a house... I mean I want them to have their own rooms, and a nice big garden and everything they want. But for now the appartment is okay still.”

Kate smiled back at how full of love for her unborn babies she was. “Sounds good to me too. Don’t start on the nursery alone though, I know that you’re not an invalid and can do stuff yourself, but in your condition you...”

“I know, I know.” CD cut her off. “I promise not to do anything stupid.”

Kate knew that CD wouldn’t do anything to endanger her babies and trusted her. “Alright then.” She said when Nate knocked on the door and walked inside.

“Did something come up?” He asked because CD had just tossed that file she had wanted to get on her desk and then stormed into Kate’s office. So now he wondered if maybe she had found out something about their case.

“Nope.” CD shook her head and checked her watch. “Come on, we should go talk to the ME. Didn’t Nora say she’d be ready by now?”

“Yep.” He nodded and followed her. In the elevator he looked at her and spoke up again. “So what was that about?”

“Was what about?” CD played innocent.

“Why did you storm into Kate’s office the way you did?” He asked.

“I didn’t storm.” Denying it she shrugged. “I just had to talk to her about my vacation.”

“What vacation?” Frowning he started to panic. The last time she had been on vacation was with Brian. And boy had he hated that.

“The one I’m going on next week.” She said matter of factly.

“You’re going on vacation? You didn’t tell me about that! Alone?” The elevator stopped and they walked out.

“I’m telling you now, and yes, of course alone.” For a moment she had considered to tell him with someone else, but she didn’t want to lie to him more than necessary and he would bug her even more then.

“How come you didn’t tell me before?” He continued to bug her anyway.

“Because it was a sponteanous idea and I didn’t know myself until earlier either.” Growling she gave him a little glare.

“Okay okay...” Holding his hands up he smiled at her. “So where do you go?”

“Oh I don’t know yet.” She shrugged. “I guess I’m just gonna pack my stuff and get outta here. Some last minute offer maybe. I don’t really care where to. I’m just so... stressed here lately. I need a break. That’s all.”

“Good idea.” They rounded the corner to the coroners. “You gotta write me a postcard though.” He smiled. “And how long will you be gone?”

“Oh I don’t know yet...” Looking at him rather nervously she shrugged. “Depends on the offers and all, ya know?”

“Of course.” Nodding he gave her a sad smile, because he already knew how much he’d miss her.

“Hey guys.” A petite Asian woman walked up to them. “I just got done, and I have surprising news.” Nora announced as they walked towards the corpse. Removing the white sheet from the dead woman she looked at the two inspectors. “She was about eight weeks pregnant.”

“Oh my god!” CD said shocked and swallowed, blinking her tears away because she right away started to feel creeped out.

“That’s so sad.” Nate sighed. “I don’t think her husband even knew. At least he didn’t mention it to us.”

“Maybe he killed her because of it.” CD then said and glared at him. “He probably is one of these jerks who just wanna get laid and don’t give a damn about any possible consequences. He didn’t want kids, but she got pregnant and happily told him and then he killed her and the baby.”

Both Nora and Nate looked at her shocked. “Sometimes you really scare the crap outta me CD.” Nate said. “That’s a horrible theory! How come you have such a bad opinion about people and the world in general?”

“Because it is bad, and people are what make it so bad.” She said and wasn’t really in the mood to continue with that topic because it scared her. She had seen so much horror in both her personal life and her job, that she wondered how she could ever protect her kids from all of that. But she had sworn herself to keep all bad things away from them, no matter what price she had to pay for that. She wanted them to live a happy and good life, with a great childhood, unlike her own had been. “So what else can you tell us Nora?”

The ME gave them the medical facts and agreed with Nate on CD’s theory being horrible. “I sure as hell hope that you’re wrong CD.”

“Yeah so do I.” CD assured them and rushed out again as she noticed that she couldn’t keep her tears back any longer.

Nate and Nora looked at each other and then Nate shrugged and rushed after CD. “Hey partner! Wait for me!”

She was at the elevators again and just when Nate had reached her the doors closed right into his face. “Gee, thanks for holding it.” He muttered but knew she probably hadn’t waited for him on purpose. So he ran up the stairs, not wanting to wait for the other elevator.

Indeed, as soon as CD arrived at the sixth floor again she escaped to the ladies room and crouched into one corner on the ground she let go of her tears.

Trying to catch his breath Nate looked around when he arrived soon after her. When he didn’t see her he immediately knew where she had gone, not giving a damn though he walked into the ladies room himself.

“Hey Nate, that’s the...” Seeing him walk in there Jinny called out.

“I know.” He called back and shut her up and then saw CD.

Feeling a stab in his heart like he always did when she was distressed, he walked up to her and sat down next to her, and just wrapped his arms around her, knowing she just had to let it go now.

“Dammit go away!” She sobbed against his chest but clinged on to him as she cried.

“You know I won’t go anywhere.” He whispered and held her close and slightly rocked her back and forth, trying to soothe her. After a while her sobs subsided but he continued to stroke through her hair.

“How can anybody kill a pregnant woman?” She asked. “Eight weeks... the tiny innocent baby, the poor thing didn’t have the slightest chance.”

“Yeah it’s horrible.” Agreeing Nate wondered why that was upsetting her so much though. For someone who never wanted kids she was pretty worked up over it. But then again when it came to violence against children, he know how that was driving her mad. And he could understand her all to well, that was the worst thing he could imagine and it killed him to know CD had been hurt when she was young. “I promise you we’ll get the guy.”

“Yeah we will.” Sniffing she let go of him again and wiped her tears away. “What would you do if you found out you got someone pregnant?” She now asked. “I mean you said you don’t want kids either and all. So how would you react?”

Ha! See, that explains it... I mean I try to have my English as American as possible... (and I do have an american accent when I speak) but since they taught us "Oxford English" at school... please forgive me if a couple of Brit words show up... and feel free to slap my hands and correct me anytime :)
btw English was the only subject at school where I ever was good at LOL I constanly failed german but excelled in English. And that even though I had that accent, in the end after I graduated they told me that I just got a B instead of an A because my accent was American... and I was like 'wtf, you people have german accents... how the hell dare you tell me **** like that?!?' but yeah, anyhow LOL I don't actually like yogurt that much though....

“Right.” Sighing he ran his hands through his hair. “But there’s no one who could possibly be pregnant from me.”

“It’s a what if question!” Glaring at him she slightly raised her voice.

“Okay fine...” Knowing he couldn’t say that he’d be happy he sighed again. If he told her he’d be happy, he knew she’d realize he had lied about not wanting kids. And since he didn’t want to blow what little chance he had left with her he knew he had to lie again somewhat. “I uhhh... I’d support her I guess.... I mean financially and all... hell I don’t know. Don’t ask me stuff like that!” Now he raised his voice. “I don’t want kids, so I’m careful not to knock anyone up, alright?”

“Alright, fine!” She jumped up and went to wash her hands.

“Suppose you are a guy.. what would you do?” Now he was curious.

“I uhhh... I’d... I don’t know... I guess that would depend on what kind of relationship I’m having to the woman...” She really tried to imagine how she would react, for the first time putting herself into his position, wondering what she’d say if he was pregnant now and just told her, after she had made clear how she never wanted kids. “I guess I’d be angry a little... shocked... scared... I’d take responsibilty though and probably wish I’d never found out.” Realizing that, she again thought about her decision not to tell him and knew it was the right one,

Nate just wanted to tell her that he’d definitely want to know when the door opened and Kate walked in. She saw that CD had been crying and was glad Nate had taken care of her apparently, so she ignored the fact that he was in the wrong locker room. “Everything okay?” She asked.

“Yeah, sure.” Both partners said and she nodded at them, just washed her hands and walked towards the door again.

Before she walked out she turned around again though. “Nate?”

Laughing Nate looked at his chest and then pretended to be insulted. “Oh come on Cap... I mean I know they’re small, but...” He pushed against his chest as if there was something that obviously wasn’t there.

Of course they all had to laugh at that. Kate simply walked out again and CD shook her head. “Is there something I should know?”

“Hmmm...” He winked at her but then looked at her. “No, seriously, I think you know about everything by now.”

“Yeah.” CD smiled and nodded. “No one knows as much about me as you do either.”

He smiled back at her. “Feel better again?”

“Definitely.” Still smiling she nodded. “I guess I was just shocked...”

“Yeah me too. That was bad news.” He agreed and slightly stroked his thumb 0ver her cheek. “But I’m glad that you’re better again.”

“Yeah, I’m okay again.” Looking deep into his eyes she reassured him again.

Looking back deep into her eyes he had to swallow. He was drawn to her so much again, and she was so close to him now because of how he had comforted her. Not able to resist the urge any longer he slightly moved towards her and closed his eyes just before his lips touched hers.

She closed her eyes as well and returned the kiss for a short moment, the perfect feeling that she only got in his arms overcame her again but then she felt her babies move and quickly pulled back and pushed him away. “Nate, no... bad idea.”

Heartbroken he let his head hang. “I know... I’m sorry CD, I just, I don’t know...”

“It’s okay, forget it. Just don’t do it again, okay?” Feeling like she had to cry all over again CD jumped up and walked out before he was able to say anything else.

She rushed into Kate’s office and explained her the situation of how finding out the victim had been pregnant affected her and she said that she wasn’t sure if she would be able to deal with that case.

Agreeing with her Kate said that it probably was for the best if she started her vacation immediately then. She was glad, but surprised though that CD had actually admitted that she didn’t think she would be able to handle that case instead of going on a crusade.

Little did she know that CD actually would have been able to handle the case but needed to get away from Nate after that kiss. It was tearing her apart to know that now she could have what she always wanted if she wasn’t having what she never wanted.

So now she hoped that being away from him for a while would help her to get over it because no matter how much she loved Nate, her babies were more important to her.

She would give up about everything for Nate, but not her kids. For them she would give up even more and she knew she had to sacrifice her love for their lives.

However that night she was lying in bed and cried herself to sleep, not able to understand why this world had to be so cruel, and not amused at all about the irony of her situation.

In the next morning Kate started to hand out new cases even though CD wasn’t there yet. She handed a file to Nate. “You team up with Raina.”

“Wait, what?” He protested. “What about CD?” He looked at the young black woman. “No offense Raina,” then he looked back at their boss. “I’d just like to know why I can’t work with my partner who knows all about our current cases and doesn’t need to be filled in on half a dozen ongoing investigations in addition to a new case.”

“Yeah, where is CD?” Jinny now asked as well. “I haven’t seen her yet today either.”

“She’s on vacation for a while.” Kate said.

“What?” Nate frowned. “Already? I thought she didn’t want to go until next week!”

”I didn’t know she wanted to go at all!” Raina exclaimed shocked because she apparently had missed out on a hot piece of gossip.

“Neither did I.” Magda said.

“Well it was sponteanous.” Kate said. “And now get to work.” With that she walked into her office, not wanting to answer any more questions about CD.

“Where did she go?” Raina asked Nate.

“Not a clue.” He shrugged. “She said she didn’t know herself yet where she wanted to go and how long she’d be gone.” But he had a feeling that her sudden departure had been because of what had happened between them the day before and he felt like kicking himself because he had kissed her. He should have known that she didn’t feel the same way about him. Life was cruel. How could having her in his arms feel so perfect to him but apparently was the last thing on earth that she wanted.

“Weird.” Jinny frowned. Something about that whole thing felt fishy to her somehow.

They had no clue that actually while they were talking about her, CD was in the same building. She needed to get some stuff out of her locker and knew she had to get it now before she was officially gone to whereever. She just hoped she wouldn’t run into anybody who would ask her about her vacation for she had no idea what to say.

Secretly she managed to grab her stuff and sneak out again and when she had almost made it back to her car she did run into a familiar face though.

They just greeted each other though and CD only stopped to say “Bless you,” after surprisingly the elderly man with the black hat had to sneeze. “Vitamin C, Steven, I’m telling ya...”

“Isn’t working for me, I’ve tried it all.” He said and blew his nose. “I’ll see you later CD.”

“Bye.” She said and got into her car and suddenly had an idea. “Thank you Steven, you’re a genius!” She mumbled.

A couple of days went by and while the Felony Division got a high profile case that was all over the news CD was sitting at home, bored to death, wishing she could help. She had started to clear out the room that soon was going to be a nursery though. But like she had promised Kate she wasn’t overdoing it. Because of that case Kate hardly had time for her during the next week but they talked on the phone every night and Kate kept CD in the loop about work and she helped out with ideas and theories.

In the end her idea to look for the perp’s brother’s car that according to him had been stolen a couple of months ago led them to his hiding place and they nailed him. Kate felt bad for taking the credit from the press because it had been CD’s idea and they’d never arrested him hadn’t it been for that pregnant Inspector who officialy was on vacation now.

Her prediction about another case turned out to be wrong though. Nate and Raina eventually found out that the pregnant woman hadn’t been killed by her husband, like CD had assumed, but by her own mother, who wanted to spare her the pains of childbirth. Kate made sure not to fill CD in about that piece of information though. She was glad she hadn’t asked her about that yet, because she wouldn’t be able to lie to her, but she really didn’t want to tell her that with giving birth she was looking forward to the worst physical pain she’d probably ever feel in her life,

You know how to write about the cases, along with the characters. Most people just write about the characters, and not the cases. I'm one of them. That's cuz I suck. hehehehe I'm not as talented when it comes to writing cases as you are. Anyways, more please!!!!!!!

During the following week CD continued to clean house, and buy tons of stuff for the twins, she only wanted the best stuff for them and bought everything she thought they might need. And since she wasn’t working anymore she didn’t try to hide her pregnancy either.

One day when she was shopping for baby clothes again she decided to go back to that one store where she and Nate had taken Ben, remembering all the cute things she had seen then.

Ever since that day Ben by the way, had continued to bug his parents to take him there, because he wanted more cool stuff in contradiction to the dull stuff his mom usually bought him. And since his birthday was coming up Magda had finally given in and took him there so he could choose one outfit. She figured that still was better than a new videogame.

Happily Ben rummaged around all the pants and shirts, checking out exactly what they had first so he wouldn’t have to try on too much. His mom was in a deep conversation with the sales assistant so she didn’t notice how he was strolling around. Eventually he ended up where the baby clothes started. Of course he didn’t care about those at all and wanted to go back again when something, or actually someone caught his eye.

Grinning he ran back to his mom because he wanted to say hi to the familiar woman, but knowing his mom she was worried about where he was already anyways so he decided to tell her about it first. “Hey mom!” Tugging at her arm he tried to get her attention.

“Benjamin, not now. Look around some more.” Magda had just found out that she and Kimberly, the sales woman, grew up in the same part of the Mission district.

“Yeah but I just want to...” He started but was cut off again.

“You wanted to buy clothes here so we came here. You can’t change your mind every five minutes!” She gave him a stern look.

“I didn’t change my mind, I just saw...” Again the boy was cut off by his mother.

“ONE pair of pants and ONE shirt Benjamin, no matter how much nice stuff you see.” Taking a deep breath she hoped he would stop bugging her since she was starting to get a headache.

“But there’s...” He pointed towards the cashier where he had seen CD.

“There’s what?” Magda looked down at him and then to where he was pointing.

He sighed because CD wasn’t there anymore meanwhile and he couldn’t see her anywhere else either. “Nothing.”

Now it was Magda’s turn to sigh as she turned to Kimberly. “I’m sorry, I guess he’s getting impatient...”

“Yeah I know how it is, a lot of kids are like that.” Kimberly smiled at Ben and then she saw a new customer and walked over there while Magda finally let Ben show her what he had chosen.

The next day back at work Magda was sitting on top of Jinny’s desk, chewing her ear off about how horrible shopping with Ben had been and how she wished that Gabe would start taking care of Ben a lot more, so she could have more time for herself. She complained how she hardly ever got to see Jonah anymore, and how much she missed him, and that she thought he might be having an affair.

“God I hope he is.” Jinny muttered under her breath.

“Huh, what?” Magda hadn’t quite heard what she had said.

“Oh look! There’s Nate.” Seeing him enter Jinny was glad to change the subject and walked up to him.

He just sat down at his desk, looked at his partner’s empty desk and sighed.

“Nate?” Frowning Jinny gently put her hand on his shoulder, to get his attention. “Everything okay with you?”

“Yeah yeah.” He gave her an obviously forced smile. “Hey, did any of you hear from CD yet?”

“Hmm nope, sorry. I guess she’s enjoying her vacation.” Jinny smirked.

“She promised to write me a postcard.” He sighed.

“Awww I’m sure she met a really really hot guy and is screwing him 24/7 and forgot all about you Nate.” Chuckling Jinny patted his shoulder.

Of course Nate wasn’t amused at all and growling glared at her.

That made Jinny laugh even more though. “Take it easy buddy.”

“Take what easy?” Kate asked, walking up to them from her office.

“I still haven’t heard from CD.” He sighed. “I’m getting worried! I mean hell, how long does she wanna stay on that vacation? And where the hell is she?” Then he glared at Jinny. “And she is NOT screwing some dude she just met. Some people have a thing called classe!”

“Whoa...” Jinny put her hands up. “I was just joking geez, no reason to start insulting me!”

Kate didn’t quite realize why Nate had gotten so worked up, but she didn’t want to ask and cause an even bigger argument. So she shooed them back to work and ended the commotion for now.

AND SHE STOPE THERE?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's rockin as always. And before I say anymore about how great it is, I think I'll just say that it's rockin. Because if I keep building up how good it is, you'll NEVER write what all of us want to read. Someone ANYONE finding out about CD's pregnancy. And NOT Kate, she already knows. So SOMEONE, ANYONE (preferably Nate) finding out about it would be nice. So until then all you're getting is "it's rockin." If you want more then that typed, you know what to do! :p

Another few days went by and everybody tried to cheer up poor Nate who looked sadder everyday because he still hadn’t gotten a postcard, or any sign of life for that matter, from CD. So they were all prepared for another day of whining and complaining from him when to their surprise he walked in, grinning broadly and greeted them all incredibly cheery. “Gooooooooooooooood morning everybody!” Calling that out he practically skipped to his desk.

Puzzled they all looked at each other and even Kate peeked her head out of her office upon hearing that.

“Someone got laid last night.” Jinny laughed and winked at Nate. “Was it a blonde or a redhead?”

“Or he took some pink happy pills!” Raina giggled and ruffled through her temporary partner’s hair.

“None of that!” He pushed Raina away and stroked his fingers through his meanwhile rather long hair.

“Well he certainly forgot to shave for a while.” Kate teased him.

“Fine, keep picking on me, I won’t tell you where CD is!” He leaned back in his chair, pouting.

“You saw CD?” Kate asked stunned.

“No of course not! She’s still on vacation... but I found this baby in my mailbox.” Smirking he whipped out a postcard.

“Oooooh! She wrote!” Raina grinned and snatched it from him. “Where is she? Where is she?”

Snatching it back he slightly glared at Raina. “Mazatlan.”

“MAZATLAN???” Knowing that probably was the last place CD would ever wanna go again Kate looked confused. And apart from the fact that she couldn’t believe CD would return to where she and Paul had spent their honeymoon she highly doubted CD would travel in her condition.

“Yep and she’s having a blast.” Nate grinned.

“Oooh what did she write?” Of course Magda was as curious as everybody else now.

“Yeah! Read the card to us Nate!” Jinny grinned. “What kind of guy is she screwing endlessly? Tall dark handsome or blond sunnyboy?”

“She isn’t screwing anybody!” Nate hissed with another glare into Jinny’s direction and then started to read out the card. “Hey Nate, remember your ole partner? Well I promised ya a postcard so here ya go. I traveled through Mexico a little, ya know the tourist stuff, Acapulco, Cancun... and now I’m in Mazatlan. It’s incredibly pretty here and the sun is shining all of the time, I’m enjoying myself at the hotelpool, sunbathing and sipping on my Pina Colada. So I figured it’s about time I’d drop ya a line. Hope you’re having as much fun, take care, C.”

“...D...” Raina added giggling.

“Nope, just C.” Nate smirked. “She completely filled up the whole card... the D didn’t fit in anymore... or she wanted it to be short for Candace and not CD.”

“Uhhh and why?” Magda frowned.

Shrugging he grinned at the card again. “I call her Candace sometimes...”

Putting on her glasses Kate held her hand out. “Can I see that?”

“Sure.” He handed the card to her.

She checked what she wanted to see and laughed when she found her suspicion confirmed. “Yeah yeah... that’s CD... always unpredictable.” Handing the card back to Nate she put her glasses away again too. “Now get to work all of you. Stop acting like you never got a postcard in your life.”

Growling they all went back to work and Nate put the postcard on his desk, right in front of him, happy that she hadn’t forgotten about him.

That was wonderful! But poor, pitiful, pathetic Nate.....he needs to know so bad.....Post more soon! :D :wave:

When she was back in her office again Kate right away picked up the phone and dialed CD’s number.

“DeLorenzo?” Sleepily she answered after a few rings. She was incredibly tired lately, so usually she slept very long in the morning... until her morning sickness kicked in and made her dash into the bathroom. “Ugh... ****, hang on!” Dropping the receiver she jumped up and went to relieve herself.

Knowing she still was having trouble with that Kate waited patiently until she heard her voice again. “So, I hear you’re enjoying yourself at the pool in Mazatlan, drinking alcoholic cocktails even?”

“Well he wanted a postcard! Should I have sent a blank one?” CD defended herself.

“From here? I’m sure he would’ve loved the Golden Gate bridge at sunset.” She chuckled.

“Very funny.” Grumpily CD climbed back into bed again.

“Why in the world Mazatlan though?” That kept on bugging Kate.

“I went through old stuff and that fell into my hands... must’ve forgotten to write it when I was there with Paul. So I figured that’d do the trick.” CD explained.

“Now what are you gonna do when he notices it’s postmarked from San Francisco, huh?” Kate looked at Nate who still adoringly gazed at his holy grail.

“Nah... he isn’t gonna check that...” Pausing she gulped. “...I hope...”

“I doubt it too, don’t worry.” Seeing their new DC walk up Kate said goodbye for now. “Listen, I have to go. The DC’s on his way. I’ll call you tonight, bye.”

“Bye.” Yawning CD hung up again and decided to go back to sleep for another hour or so.

Three days later Nate entered the bullpen in the same cheery mood again. “Lookie what I got here!” He held up a postcard.

“Ooooh did CD write again?” Raina asked as they all gathered around his desk.

“No Raina... after 32 years of writing him letters every year for christmas Santa finally decided to write back and tell me he’s sorry that I never got that lion for a pet, but he’s sure the turtle wasn’t bad either.” Rolling his eyes Nate sat down while the others laughed about his comment.

“So how’s Mazatlan? Is she still getting it on with the same guy?” Jinny just had to tease him.

“No, she ran into Santa and jumped into his sack.” Raina laughed but got a glare from Nate like Jinny did.

“Actually she’s in New York. La Guardia.” He said and started to read the new postcard. “Hey Nate, it’s me again. I got fed up with sun and sunshine and decided to take the next flight out. So now I’m sitting at the La Guardia airport in NY. I’m not sure yet if I’ll stay here for a couple of days or get my ass on another flight outta here again. I got inspired by Steven actually, I wanna see the whole wide world, so I’m probably still gonna be gone for a while, but I’ll keep you up to date. Greetings to the others, C.”

“Whoa... I didn’t know she has the cash for a journey like that.” Magda said.

“Probably money from the divorce.” Assuming that Raina shrugged and sighed. “Man I’m SO jealous! I wanna have that too! She’s free as a bird! Going where the wind takes her!”

Checking her watch Kate thought to herself that Raina surely didn’t want what CD had right now, she knew that neither the wind, nor a plane was taking CD anywhere. Her morningsickness had gotten even worse during the last days and she had gotten an appointment with her doc for this morning, one that she as caring grandma was late for now. “Well that’s great, but I need to get going for a while... I’ll see you later.”

Shrugging Nate placed the postcard next to the other one on his desk.

When Kate arrived at Annabeth’s office CD was waiting there already, nervously flipping through a magazine. Upon seeing her friend she dropped it and hugged her. “Kate! Thank god! I’m so scared!”

“Shh, calm down, I’m sure it’s nothing.” Kate managed to soothe her and Annabeth called them inside.

After the usual tests and ultrasound Annabeth assured them that indeed CD had nothing to worry about. She did prescribe her something stronger to help her nausea though.

“See?” Smiling Kate wrapped her arm around CD’s shoulder. “I told you it’s nothing.”

“I was so worried.” Looking at the latest ultrasound picture CD had to grin. “Aww look at this, can you believe they’re sucking their thumbs in there? And both at the same time! This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!”

“Yeah it’s amzing.” Kate was as relieved that everything was okay as CD was. “So, tell me,” She smirked at her, “How’s New York at this time of the year?”

Laughing CD shook her head. “That arrived already? I threw it in yesterday evening!”

“Yeah, incredible that it’s here already, after the long way it took to get to Nate.” Kate chuckled herself. “So that was another postcard you found under your old stuff?”

“Actually it was some advertisement postcard for LaGuardia airport... I found it in a magazine.” She chuckled.

“Oh CD, I had no idea how wicked you can be.” Of course they were on their way to the icecream parlor around the corner since it had gotten routine for them to stop there after the check-ups. “But you said you’d keep him in the loop, you’ll need more postcards for that, don’t ya?”

“Oh don’t worry, I already have that covered.” She grinned and they walked into their icecream parlor there and CD changed the topic back to the thumbsucking babies in her uterus. It was as if they noticed they were being talked about and immediately started kicking their momma. And since CD was in a very good mood now it englightened her immensely.

It didn’t take long until Nate got the next postcard, this one from Rio DeJanairo. He slightly wondered why she’d go there after being fed up with the sun in Mexico, but didn’t think too much of it since he got new postcards every few days now. Soon his desk couldn’t hold them all anymore and he got himself one of those boards that they normally used to pinpoint informations about ongoing investigations on a map or something like that. But this one was standing next to his desk and was holding postcards from all over the world. Mazatlan, NYC, Rio, Waikiki, Alaska, Florida, New Zealand, Sydney, Perth, Singapoure, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Moscow, Helsinki, Stockholm, Hamburg, Rome, London, Iceland, Austria, Switzerland, Paris, Barcelona... He couldn’t believe how much she was travelling around and how far apart they were.

“Wow cooool!” A little voice got Nate out of his daydreams and he turned around to see who had spoken to him.

“Ben hey! What’s up champ?” He high-fived the boy.

“Not much... School finished early today cause one of my teachers got sick, so mom wants to drop me off at grandma’s... but she had to drop by to make a phonecall or something...” Not thinking too much of that he shrugged again. “So what’s all this? Do you have friends all over the world?” He thought those postcards were the coolest thing.

Chuckling Nate shook his head. “No, they’re all from...”

He didn’t get to finish his sentence because Magda had noticed that Ben was bugging him. “Benjamin! I told you to stay here and wait! Leave Nate alone!”

Rolling his eyes he gave Nate a look. “Sorry...”

“Don’t worry about it.” Nate smiled at him because obviously he hadn’t minded at all.

Slowly Ben strolled back to his mom and started to listen to his mother’s side of the phone conversation when he heard her giggle. That was strange he thought because he hadn’t ever heard her giggle like a little girl before.

“Listen, I’d love to... but I can’t.” Magda smiled at Ben and pointed at the chair next to her desk, so he’d sit down. “I have to take Ben to my mom’s...” She turned her back towards him again. “Yeah he got out of school early... I can’t believe they cancel classes just because some teacher is sick. It’s outrageous!”

Rolling his eyes Ben disagreed with his mom, he, and all the other kids, were very happy about that. He couldn’t understand why his mom kept on acting as if school was the greatest thing on earth. He hated it and dreaded going there day after day.

*please let Ben tell Nate he saw CD....*......that was great...as usual....but Nate needs to know!!!!....and I need something happy after that premiere last night...:(.....so get your @ss back here and post some more!....:D

“What kind of favor?” That already got her suspicious.

“Well ya know... Jonah asked me out for lunch... but Ben got out of school early... you’d just have to drop him off at my mom’s.” Magda was sure Jinny would say ‘of course’ and that was that.

But she was wrong. “Dammit Magda! I’m SO sick of covering up for your damn affair!” She hissed. “Now you even push your son around to get some!”

Of course Magda got pissed off herself now. “Geez would you take some PMS pills? What the hell is your problem?”

“MY problem? I don’t have a ****ing problem!” Jinny hissed back at her. “You’re the one cheating on your husband and neglecting your son! So what the hell is YOUR problem?”

“Right now that someone needs to drop my son off at my mom’s!” Growling Mag looked at Jinny and sighed. “Honey, look, I know you didn’t mean it... I don’t have the time to listen to your apology though. I gotta hurry, Jonah doesn’t have that much time. You have my mom’s address. I’ll see ya later.”

When she started to walk off Jinny called after her. “Fine, I’ll do it! But for Ben and not for you!” She really hated how the kid got treated in all of this. Sighing she walked into the bullpen and up to him. “Hey kiddo... your mom really had to go somewhere, so I’ll drive you to your grandma’s, okay?”

“COOL!” Of course for Ben that was even better. “Can we stop for icecream?”

“Sure.” Smiling she helped him back into his jacket. “So you got out of school early, huh? Shouldn’t that happen more often?”

“Oh yeah!” They were on their way to Jin’s car and he nodded in agreement. “Mom doesn’t think that though. She thinks school is the biggest invention since the beginning of creation.”

Chuckling Jinny wondered where he picked that phrase up and nodded. “Well ya know, you gotta learn stuff and all... but still it’s great when school’s out.”

Sighing Ben looked out of the window and wondered why Jin couldn’t be his mom. Or CD. Or anyone... Thinking about CD reminded him of something. “Aunt Jinny?”

“Yeah?” She looked at him briefly before pulling into the parkinglot at the icecream parlor.

“Did Aunt CD have her baby yet? And is it a boy or a girl?” He was curious about that and hoped it was a boy and that he could see him soon.

What a rockin post!!!! hehe Magda is stupid, CD needs to go back to TD, and everything will be right with the world again. hehehehe

Stunned Jinny looked at the kid in the passenger seat. “Benjamin, what are you talking about?”

“Oh come on!” He groaned. “I’m not stupid! I know she’s having a baby! I knew ever since we went camping together! She and Nate tried to hide it with playing games and stuff... but she had morning sickness and funny cravings and stuff!” Looking at Jinny he slightly started to doubt himself. “I mean that’s what happens when you’re pregnant, right? And when mom took me shopping for my birthday to that cool store, I saw CD there, and she was buying baby clothes and... ya know...” He put his hands in front of him and made a motion in front of his belly. “I wanted to talk to her but mom wouldn’t let me. She didn’t even see her.” Sighing he put his hands down again and giggled. “If it’s a boy I can play football with him. Do you think she’s gonna let me play with him? Or when it’s a girl I guess that’s okay too...”

Still looking at him bedazzled Jinny wondered if he could be right. That would explain her ‘bulemia’, her mood swings, and she indeed had gotten chubbier, they all had noticed that. But then why was she traveling around the world now? That didn’t fit into the picture.

“Aunt Jinny?” Waving his hand in front of her eyes he tried to get her attention again. “Is it a girl or a boy?”

“I uhm...” Snapping out of it she smiled at him. “I don’t know Ben... but I’m gonna find out. Now come on, let’s go get that icecream.

While they ate it Jinny kept on wondering about CD. Why didn’t she tell anybody that she was pregnant? Or was Ben wrong after all? But he really had a point. But why in hell would she go on a vacation like that while she was expecting? Absentmindedly she paid for the icecream and then drove Ben to his grandma’s house. She didn’t really notice any of this though because more and more things were going through her mind.

Suddenly she found herself back in the bullpen, standing in front of Nate’s postcard heaven. The more she looked at them the weirder everything seemed. Frowning she reached for one of the postcards in the middle, this one happened to be from somewhere in Italy. When she started to read it she had to smile. ‘Oh Nate, if you’ve never been to Italy, you have NO idea what you missed out on! I’m sitting in this nice little Italian place, eating the best Fettucini ever cooked. And you’re probably sitting in front of the TV, eating pizza from the freezer... Sucks to be you pal. ;)” Jinny chuckled at the little smiley and then looked at something else, the postmark. And now she had to laugh hysterically because she saw what Kate had realized first. That Nate was an idiot not to see that CD wasn’t cruising all around the world but just send postcards from the other side of town.

To be completely sure Jinny randomly picked up another postcard, a recent one. Oxford, England. ‘Hey stranger. I’m having a spledid time here... not to insult anyone but Britsh English is the gayest thing I’v ever heard. Seriously, all the men sound like they’re obviously gay, and all the women sound extremely arrogant... but it’s not their fault that they speak such a funny language... and they spell yogurt with h here! Anyhow, I gotta run, take care, C.’

Chuckling Jinny shook her head, when again it was postmarked from right here. “Woman, you should write books. That stuff is hilarious.” She mumbled to herself.

Caaaaaaaat.....:D ....its meeeee...and that was the best thing I have ever read in my entire life!...forget William Shakespere!...YOU are #1!!!!!....I'd give my life for you to just post more....:cool: :p :)

Nate had walked up behind her and chuckled himself. “Oh you haven’t read the latest one yet!” With that he held up a card from Monaco and started to read out. “Oh god Nate! You won’t believe it, I just won a fortune in one of the casinos here! I’ll be flying around in my own private jet from now on and who am I kidding here? Of course I lost the little money that I put on the table, and everything is EXTREMELY expensive here, but it was still nice to see. This is such a tiny cute counrtry, but I’m outta here again, it’s time to realize that I never was and never will be one of the rich and the famous. Hang in there, C.”

Chuckling she patted his shoulder. “Yep, sounds like she’s having a blast.” She glanced at the postcard in his hands and it looked like this one was sent from here as well. ‘Some Inspector.’ Jinny thought to herself. ‘Doesn’t even notice he’s being fooled all along cause he doesn’t bother to check the postmark.’ But then again none of them had.

CD had just helped herself to a big bowl of chocolate icecream, covered with pistachios, tabasco, whipped cream and spraycheese and wanted to start watching a couple of DVDs she had rented when the doorbell rang. Cursing she eventually managed to get up from the couch and walked over to the door and made the mistake of opening it without looking through the peephole.

“Holy ****!” Was all that she could exclaim after seeing what was standing in front of her. “I can’t believe it! And Ben was the only one who figured it out! Wow CD!!!!! Oh god, I’m so happy for you!” Hugging her shocked friend Jinny let herself into the apartment.

“Jinny... hey.” Swallowing CD closed the door behind her and led her into the livingroom.

“So how far along are you?” Jinny had to grin.

“Thirty weeks!” CD grinned proudly and stroked over her belly. “With twins.”

“Oh my god! Wow! How cute.” Jinny reached her hand out to touch CD’s belly but then hesitated. “May I?”

“Of course.” Smiling CD nodded. “Just don’t expect too much, they’re both asleep at the moment or something.”

With a grin Jinny touched her friend’s belly and just at that moment the twins decided to wake up and start kickboxing. “Whoa whoa whoa!!!!” Jinny called out in amazement and laughed. “What the hell are they doing in there?”

“Hell if I know.” CD had to laugh herself. “They seem to love the attention they’re getting.” Smiling she motioned Jinny to sit down. “Can I get you something?”

“Sure... whatever you’re having.” Nodding Jinny sat down.

CD pointed at her bowl and laughed. “THAT’s what I’m having.”

“Okay... I take back everything I said! A soda is just fine.” Jinny said with a disguisted look on her face.

“Coming right up.” CD went into the kitchen to get it.

While she was gone Jinny did get a little more curious about CD’s bowl and poked through it with the spoon. “Oh my god CD, if all of this is what I think it is, that is really just sick!”

“Yeah I know! Those little brats force me to eat it!” Laughing she handed her the soda and sat down again herself.

“They deserve to be grounded as soon as they’re born!” Jinny joked and took a sip while CD started to eat.

“Ooooh!” She right away put the bowl away again though. “Wanna see ultrasound pics?”

“Hell yeah!” When Jinny sat down next to CD she reached for her album and showed her all the pics so far, explaining exactly what she remembered from the doc.

After they were done with that Jinny shook her head laughing. “I still can’t believe it! Candace DeLorenzo a mommy!”

“Oh shut up!” CD slightly slugged her.

“No no! Don’t get me wrong... you’re gonna be a GREAT mom... it’s just that... ya know... you’ve always been so determind to never let that happen.” With a grin Jinny touched CD’s round belly again. “And now I’m seeing you like this!”

“Yeah it’s strange, isn’t it?” CD went back to eating her stew of whatever it was, ignoring how it looked meanwhile. “I can’t believe it either... I got pregnant even though I had my tubes tied!”

“Whoa. Respect.” She laughed.

“Thanks...I think.” CD frowned a little. “How did you find out anyways? I mean I’m supposed to be in... Naples or something right now?”

“Monte Carlo... at least that’s where Nate’s postcard today came from.” Jinny nodded. “It just occurred to me that all of those were postmarked just around the corner... so the Inspector in me kicked in and decided to check on you... okay so that’s not the complete truth. Apparently Ben realized what’s going on when you guys took him camping, and he saw you again a while ago, saw your belly and the babyclothes you were buying and added the facts... he’s a better Inspector than his mom, dontcha think?” She laughed again.

CD joined in and nodded. “Smart boy... so he saw me and then what?”

“Well today Mag had other plans for lunch than dropping her son off at her mom’s... so Aunt Jinny jumped in and he started babbling and asked me if you’re having a boy or a girl... are you having boys or girls or both?” She realized CD hadn’t told her that yet.

“I don’t know yet, I decided to wait... I don’t know why really.” Shrugging CD finished her little snack.

“Ooooh! But you’re gonna tell me when they’re born, right?” Even though she didn’t know why Jinny suddenly was incredibly excited about the big news. She was so happy for her friend and couldn’t wait for the babies, wanting to hold them herself.

“Of course I will Aunt Jinny!” CD nodded and smiled broadly, but then her smile started to fade. “Did he tell anyone else? Magda? Does she know?”

“I don’t think so.” Jinny shrugged. “If Ben told her she probably didn’t believe him. I’m gonna ask him when I see him again.”

“Okay, thanks. And you didn’t tell anyone either, right?” She was scared that Nate would find out somehow.

“No, I didn’t know what was going on yet, so I came here first of course.” Jinny couldn’t help but notice how nervous CD was getting and that added another little piece to her puzzle. “Alright mommy, spill the beans... who’s daddy?”

“Uhm, uhhh...” She had to blush, hating that she had to lie again. “It was a one night stand and... it doesn’t matter...”

That was all Jinny had to hear and she nodded. “It’s Nate, isn’t it?”

Shocked CD looked at her. “How the **** did you know that?!?”

“CD please! Get real! Who else? I mean, hello? You’re not like a certain Inspector who couldn’t get enough and slept with whatever wasn’t running away fast enough... or yet another Inspector who gives a damn about her wedding vowels. You’re not the ‘I got drunk, had a one night stand and he knocked me up’ type.” She smiled at her.

“Well actually, “ CD laughed, “that’s exactly what happened... with Nate, but yeah, it was like that... we got real drunk... we got real naked... and I got real pregnant. But still, that doesn’t explain why you’re thinking it’s him... I mean that just means you’d expect me to be in a stable relationship or something...”

“Well I also remembered how Teddy told me a while ago that he had overheard Nate talking about you and a helluva night a while ago... I think he said Nate had said you showed him paradise or something.” Smiling Jinny remembered that.

“Oh god.” CD had to blush. “I can’t believe he’s telling that around!”

“Well apparently he isn’t telling it around too much, or else our little gossipqueen would’ve picked up on it already, but yeah, that was another good clue.” Jinny took another sip of her soda. “Besides I can’t see another reason why you’d go to such efforts to hide it! You didn’t tell anyone, and now you’re cruising all around the world! By the why where did you get all of those postcards?”

“Ebay!” CD laughed. “I doubt there’s anything you can’t find there! And you know what they say... your trash are someone elses treasures...”

“I’m never gonna take my trash out again!” She laughed. “I’ll sell it all on ebay! I’m sure someone will love to spend 20 bucks on a half-eaten pizza from three weeks ago.”

“Ewww Jinny!” Even though CD tried to look disguisted she had to laugh.

“Look who’s talking, Miss ‘I put cheese on my icecream’!” Jinny laughed together with her until they both had calmed down again. “So what’s the big deal? I mean why are you hiding it? You have to tell him! I can’t believe no one knew about this!”

“As a matter of fact, Kate knows. Not that Nate is the father, but she knows about the pregnancy.” CD said, hoping Jinny would stay away from the ‘you gotta tell Nate’ topic now.

“That heinous little bitch!” Jinny joked. “She played all innocent with us!”

“Yeah well... I made her promise not to tell anyone, but I’m really glad I have her. She’s taking care of me and makes sure I don’t try to do anything stupid. She really is one proud grandma.” CD smiled.

“Hey!” Pouting slightly Jinny nudged her. “You have me too now! And I’m one helluva proud Aunt!”

“I’d never doubt that!” CD wrapped her arms around her friend and hugged her.

“See? That’s the way it’s gotta be!” Exclaiming that Jinny pulled away again. “We’re all one big family! Grandma Katie... Auntie Jinny... Mommy CD... Daddy Natie...” Of course she hadn’t forgotten about that. “Why don’t you wanna tell him?”

Sighing CD let her head hang. “I wish I could! He’d be such a great daddy! But he doesn’t want kids... and I don’t wanna put a burden like that on him even though I know exactly that he doesn’t want it, ya know?”

“How can you be so sure about it?” Jinny now asked.

“Well we kind of talked about it... and he told me he didn’t want kids and he’d just give money to the mother but that was that.” A tear slipped out of her eye.

“Awwww no! Don’t cry, shhhh!” Right away Jinny hugged her again, feeling bad for having upset her now. “In that case you’re better off without him! He’s a jerk and you’re gonna do just fine as single mom with a crazy aunt and an even crazier grandma to help you out! Seriously, I mean hell you know I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to little bundles in diapers, but anytime you need me I’ll be here for you, okay? Lamaze classes, whatever, I’ll be by your side! Deal?” She smiled at her.

CD couldn’t help but laugh at that. “Sounds more like Daddy Jinny to me than Auntie! But hell yeah! Deal!” Smirking she winked at Jinny. “... Daddy!”

“Damn... and here I thought I found an easy way out... I’d make you marry me and all and you’d never find out they’re not actually your kids... but you’re just a too good Inspector I guess.” CD laughed again. “And hey... my teddybear can beat up your Teddybear anytime! So careful, eh?” Smirking she pointed towards a plushy fuzzy kind of teddybear that she had bought for the kids... it was the cutest little bear ever and didn’t look dangerous at all. But then again that applied for both opponents here.

“Uh oh... yeah you’re right... I’ll have to warn my Teddy then.” Looking at each other the two women realized what kind of nonsense they were babbling and burst out laughing.

Once they had regained their composure again CD was the first to speak up. “So you’re not gonna tell anyone, right? Promise?”

“Hello? CD, this is JINNY, not Raina!” She smiled. “Of course I ain’t telling anyone... well I did promise Ben to find out what’s going on though...”

“Oh, that’s totally okay, if you make him promise not to tell anyone, especially the whore who calls herself his mother, tell him, bring him over some time. He’s a great kid!” Again she was smiling broadly.

“Need some practice huh?” Jinny chuckled but nodded. “I’m sure he’d love that. And yeah, he really is a great kid.”

At that moment Jinny’s cellphone started to ring and she answered it. “Exstead?... Thanks Raina... yeah, I’ll be right there... Raina it’s none of your damn buisness where I am right now, I could be screwing Brad Pitt and I wouldn’t tell ya!” With that she hung up and rolled her eyes. “Why does that kid have to be so damn nosy?”

“I have no idea, but I sure am glad that she didn’t realize what you did.” CD hugged her. “So you’re heading back for work? The Drewbaker case?”

“How did you....” Jinny started to ask and then realized. “Kate, she kept ya in the loop and you kept on giving her your opinions?”

Chuckling CD tipped at her nose with her forefinger and then pointed at Jinny who laughed in return. “Alright, I’m outta here. I’ll call ya!” Smiling Jinny slightly patted CD’s belly. “And you little rebels be nice to your momma... she’s the one who decides if you’ll be shipped off to a nice boarding school or military school.” She laughed and then left to head back to the division to interview their witness.

In the next morning Jinny decided to give Kate a hard time, just for the hell of it. She knew she had to be careful though so she wouldn’t let too much slip out with the others around.

“Hey Nate, got a new postcard yet?” She asked and laughed. “Ya know what’d be funny? If she sent ya one from right here. Golden Gate Bridge or something...” At that she glanced over at Kate who was slighly frowning but not really reacting yet. “... ya know, to let ya know she’s back in town again.”

“Nothing yet today.” Nate said. “And I’m sure she’s gonna call me as soon as she gets back.”

“Yeah I bet.” Jinny nodded. “Hell who knows? She might even have some baggage for ya now...” Again she glanced over at Kate, but as soon as she glanced back Jin looked over at Mag who was giving her partner a weird look. “With a present inside.... or two....”

“Did you have too much coffee today or something Jinny?” Magda asked her, hoping she wasn’t high or something.

“Coffee...” She laughed. “No no... ya know there are some... conditions... in which you shouldn’t drink that stuff.” Smirking she looked at Kate. “No idea why YOU are drinking decaf though.”

“Jinny if you keep behaving like this I’m gonna order you to get a tox-scan!” Kate warned her.

Growling Jinny decided to better shut up for now since that shot was apparently backfiring.

Later that day though she wanted to try her luck again, just with Kate though. So she walked into Kate’s office and handed her some due reports.

“Thank you Jinny.” Kate took them and looked down at the paper in front of her again.

But Jinny sat down and grinned. “Sooooo.... solved any mysteries lately Cap?”

“What?” Looking up Kate gave her Inspector a weird look.

“Oh ya know... something big....” She winked at her. “Though maybe big is the wrong word... something fat... isn’t fat new lingo for fancy? But then again fat is absolutely the wrong word... Let’s just say... surprising. Yeah surprising is good.”

“Did you eat a dictionary for lunch or what?” Kate was getting annoyed at this nonsense.

“Very funny... no. It’s incredible what some people eat though! Talking of food... did you know they spell yogurt with h in England?” She smirked. “Have you ever been to England? Cause I started wondering... how would someone who’s never been there know how they spell yogurt there?”

“Probably because someone else told them...” Now she really had enough of this. “Are you just trying to be annoying or what is going on here?”

“Ooooh Mag and I are waiting for a warrant... so I thought I’d come in here and you and I, we could... bond a little...” Smiling Jinny leaned back. “Sooo... what’s cooking?”

“Bond...” Cleary Kate didn’t buy that and with her fore finger pointed back and forth from Jinny to herself. “You and me?”

“Yeah!” At that Jinny pouted. “Maybe I’m just jealous of the special relationship you have to some people here!”

“Special relationship?” Kate started to get suspicious. “Do you think I’m having an affair with someone here or what?”

“YOU? No.” She laughed. “I was talking about another kind of relationship... a familiar one... I mean come on! You’re a surrogate mother here!”

THAT ROCKED! Meaning the last three pages, cuz that's how much I haven't been able to keep up with. lol Our computer has been booting us for the last three days, so I couldn't do anything on here! Gerrrrr. Anywho, that rocked!!! And I especeially liked these parts:

Those two parts cracked me up! I was like OMG this girl kicks arse when she writes! But with my luck, something else will come up...it always does. But whateva. Enough of my babble, and more of YOUR fic, whose we ALL know is da shiiiiiiiiiiit!!

“Nonsense!” Kate had no idea who Jinny was talking about. Then again she was right somehow, some of her Inspectors really were close to her, Jinny being one of them actually. She worried about them as much as she worried about her own daughter and saw them as her girls... even though one of them wasn’t a girl at all. But he belonged with them too, probably because he was so very close to one of them.

“Yessense!” Jinny protested knowing that wasn’t actually a word though. “Come on you’re even playing Grandma Katie!”

“I am NOT playing Grandma Katie to anyone!” She glared at Jinny who apparently found all of this incredibly amusing and was grinning broadly. Thinking about everything Jinny had said Kate started to nod. “You found out about CD, didn’t you?”

“CD? What?” Now Jin played innocent. “Isn’t she in Marocco or somewhere?”

“Monaco. And you know as well that she isn’t as I do. When did you find out and how?” She knew she had her now.

“Ben saw her and told me exactly what he saw... so I got suspicious... and since Nate’s postcards are all postmarked San Fran... well I went to visit her yesterday and she confessed everything.” Jinny grinned. “Now who’s a good Inspector here, huh?”

“I never doubted that one.” Chuckling Kate put her glasses down. “Well what do you say?”

“Oh god! It’s so exciting! I’m gonna be an Aunt! And TWINS!” She grinned broadly. “I felt them kick! And the ultrasound pics... kinda looked like my TV when it’s broken... but CD explained everything. Can you believe it? Our CD a mommy! She’ll be amazing! But how does she fit two babies in her tummy? Wow.”

“I know! I was as surprised when I found out! But I’m so thrilled!” Kate smiled. “Alright, let’s talk babyshower... First I didn’t wanna do anything... But now that we’re three... What are we gonna do with her?”

“Stripper! Definitely a stripper!” Jinny laughed.

“Ooooh naughty.” First Kate gave her a scolding look but then grinned. “I like it!”

Magda wondered just what Jinny was doing in the Cap’s office so long, and why it looked like they were actually having a great time there together. She had no idea that they were planning a sponteanous babyshower to surprise CD with the next day. But then again she had no idea about CD in the first place either, mainly because lately her lover had been more important to her than her own son.

When she saw them double over in laughter Mag decided it was time she’d check out what was going on there...

“Hey.” She had walked in without bothering to knock.

“Hey.” Both Kate and Jinny grinned at her.

“What’s going on?” She thought it was very strange that they got along so great.

Kate and Jinny exchanged a glance, burst out laughing and while they tried to regain their composure again Kate managed to get out. “We’re bonding...”

At that point Magda figured they probably realized they have the same drug dealer or something. “Scary... very scary...” Muttering she walked out of there again, deciding to grill Raina about it.

Jinny laughed and looked at Kate. “I uh... better go back to work before my partner gets too suspicious.”

“Probably a good idea.” Kate still chuckled herself. “So tomorrow night then?”

Smirking Jinny nodded. “You can bet on it! I’ll call the stripper.”

“Stripper? What stripper? You two gettin frisky?” Nate had walked in and snickered.

With a smirk Kate winked at him. “Actually there’s gonna be three of us... plus that stripper... no wait, I forgot the two most important people in that party... so alltogether we’ll be six... yeah.” She loved to watch Nate’s bedazzled expression. “And no Nate, you can not watch.”

Blinking he shook his head. He knew that whatever was going on, it couldn’t be what they tried to make it sound like. “Actually... I just wanted to tell you that Raina and I got a lead on the Jones case... we need your okay though to set up surveillance.”

“Alright, go for it.” Nodding she turned back to what she had been working on before Jinny interrupted her.

Knowing that to be a sign for ‘go back to work’ Jinny and Nate walked out again together. “So what was that about, eh?” He smirked at her.

Since CD had told Jinny everything, Nate of course wasn’t exactly her favorite person in the world right now, so she just glared at him. “Bastard!” With that she stormed off to find Magda.

“What the hell?” He watched after her clueless. “Either I’m having a strange day or everyone else woke up on the wrong side of their bed this morning.”

“Stop talking to yourself Nate. Did we get an okay?” Raina looked at him strangely.

“Yeah...” Grabbing his coat he headed out the door with her.

The next day of course Nate expected that things would change back to normal again, but he was wrong. It started when he came in and wanted to get himself some coffee. Jinny was there already and helping herself to a cup, so he walked up there and held out his empty cup. “Gimme some too?”

“Sure.” Smiling broadly she started to pour the coffee... over his hand.

“OUCH!” He exclaimed and pulled his hand away again.

“Whoops... sorry.” Jinny said but it was clear that she had done that on purpose.

Nate decided not to think too much of it and helped himself to his cup of coffee. As soon as he was done with that Kate walked out of her office, holding up the new cases of the day. So he went to his desk and at the moment he wanted to sit down Jinny pulled the chair aside and sat down on it herself which caused Nate to fall on his ass and the others giggled.

“Very funny Jinny.” He muttered and shot her a small glare.

She just shrugged and gave him an innocent ‘I didn’t do it!’ look.

After that Kate handed out cases and everybody left to do whatever it was that they had to do. For lunch they met at the Anchorside, to discuss what they had found out and to find out the latest gossip from Raina. When the waitress brought their waters Jinny reached out to grab hers from the tray. “Man I’m thirsty!” She exclaimed and snatched her glass while making sure the others fell and everything poured out over Nate. “Damn Nate, I am SO incredibly sorry...”

“Like hell you are.” He glared at her, wondering what the hell had gotten her so pissed at him. The waitress gave them a puzzled look but left to get them new waters. Not wanting to be the victim of another ‘mishap’ he scooted away from Jinny.

Of course that didn’t help though since Jinny made sure other things kept on happening to him all day long. When he asked for salt and pepper she handed him what he wanted, except that she had unscrewed the caps enough so that the contents poured all over his food. Everybody else started to wonder what had gotten into Jinny by then, but neither said anything, glad that they weren’t her victims.

Back at the Division she then pulled another stunt with his chair, this time as he wanted to sit down she put a papercup of coffee on the chair just before he sat down. When he jumped up startled she couldn’t help but laugh. “Gee Nate, did you pee your pants?”

“Stop your damn pre-school pranks!” He yelled at her and angrily stormed off to get changed. In the locker room he looked at his reflection in the mirror and sighing splashed some water into his face. “If only CD would be back...” Staring off into space he wondered what CD would do now... she’d probably help him to think of a way to pay Jinny back, or she’d give Jin a piece of mind, juicy enough so she’d leave him alone for the rest of their lives.... but CD wasn’t there.

He walked over to his locker and got out a photograph of her. It was the two of them dancing at Magda’s wedding. Sighing again he stroked over her picture. “Please come back... I miss you so much.” He whispered and then kissed the photo before putting it back again.

AWWWWWWW!! Jinny is so freakin hilarious!!! Love that woman!!!


And that last line is the sweetest line ever!!! AW!!!

After work Kate took Jinny babyshopping so they had some gifts for their babyshower. From there they straight went to CD’s and held a steaming huge pizza in front of her face when she opened the door.

“Now this is what I love to see when I open the door!” She exclaimed and grinned. Then she took the pizzabox and slammed the door shut again.

While Jinny and Kate looked at each other stunned because CD had slammed the door shut into their faces, the door opened again and CD laughed. “Man, you two should see your expressions... come on in.”

“Very funny.” Jinny muttered. “I hate pranks...”

“Really? After everything you did to poor Nate today I thought you’d love em.” Kate laughed as they walked inside.

“Wait, wait, what?” CD had heard ‘poor Nate’ and immediately got worried and shot Jinny a glare. “What did you do?”

“Oh ya know... this and that...” She smirked.

“What did she do to my partner???” CD now looked at Kate, sightly alarmed.

Kate laughed. “Relax, the oldest tricks in the book....” They sat down to eat the pizza and told CD about the day.

About an hour later the doorbell rang. “I’ll go and get it.” Kate said and got up.

CD was glad to be alone with Jin now. “Why the hell did you play all those tricks on Nate?”

“Cause it woulda been dumb to beat him up and say ‘I felt like it’ afterwards.” Jinny looked at her friend. “He deserved that and so much more! I can’t believe he...”

CD cut her off. “Jinny, leave him alone, please. We’re still friends and he doesn’t know about the babies... if he knew he’d pay child support or stuff, but that’s just dumb, kids don’t need a monthly paycheck instead of a dad. So please, leave him alone and let him be happy. I wanna be friends with him still when I come back.”

At that moment Kate walked in. “Uhhh Jin?”

“What is it?” Jinny asked. “Wasn’t that... you know who... at the door?”

“You know who?” CD frowned. “You guys told someone else about this?”

“Well we’re trying to throw you a babyshower here CD.” Jinny said.

At that CD had to laugh. “A babyshower... that’s great... I mean I figured you had dropped by for pizza and a movie but....”

“Shut up.” Jinny glared at her. “This would have been way easier if you wouldn’t try to hide it so damn hard! I’m not exactly a babyparty expert, alright?”

CD laughed and hugged her friend. “It’s perfect, don’t worry. And don’t think the thing about the hiding is so easy... I almost ran into Nate a few weeks ago.”

“What? Seriously?” Jinny asked and Kate cleared her throat. “Hold that thought...” She rushed over to Kate. ‘What?”

“The stripper you ordered...” Kate motioned at a woman dressed into a cop uniform. “Her name is Darlene and she said her boyfriend is sick so she came...”

“Uuuuh...” Jinny looked at Kate, at the ‘cop’, and back at Kate again. Then she poked her head through the door. “Hey CD?”

“Yeah?” She raised her eyebrows.

“You’re a really open-minded young woman, right?” Jinny smiled innocently.

“I’m a really pregnant cop who’s getting suspicious...” CD answered.

CD just laughed. “Hell this is the weirdest babyshower I’ve ever been too.”

“You know what?” Kate looked at Darlene. “Go home, be with your sick boyfriend, it’s okay.”

“Thanks guys!” She followed Kate back to the door again, glad they saw it with humor and weren’t mad.

“So, you almost ran into Nate... what did you do?” Jinny asked CD while Kate was outside.

“Nothing... I had my sunglasses with me, turned my back towards him and hoped he wouldn’t recognize me...” CD answered.

“And? Did it work?” Jinny asked, trying to imagine that Nate just walked by a pregnant CD who was supposedly on the other side of the world right then...

“Yeah, I lucked out.” CD chuckled. “He was on a case with Raina actually I think... my guess is that she annoyed the hell outta him so he didn’t notice anything around him.”

“Yeah... that works. That pretty much describes how they work together.” Jinny laughed.

“Owwwwwww!” CD exclaimed at that.

“What? Everything okay? KATE!!!” Jinny started to panic.

Of course Kate came rushing in immediately. “What? What?”

“Nothing! They just kicked me... relax everyone!” CD laughed and shifted a little.

Relieved that everything was okay Jinny put her hand on CD’s belly. She just loved to feel them in there. “Hey CD, I’ve been thinkin’... since I’m Aunt Jinny... well I’ve been wondering... maybe they’re girl and boy, ya know?”

“Possible.” CD nodded.

“Can I name em them? I have the perfect names!” Proudly she grinned.

“Ooooh let’s hear!!!” Kate grinned and put her hand next to Jinny’s on CD’s belly.

“I’m curious too.” CD smiled.

“Well how about... Denise for the little girl?” Jinny smiled.

“And if the other one’s a boy?” Kate wanted to know now.

At that Jinny started to grin. “Denephew!!!” She burst out laughing but CD and Kate just gave her looks. “What?” Shrugging she pouted a little. “CD said I’m their aunt!”

They all chuckled now and CD nodded. “Yeah you are.” Now she stroked over her belly too. Actually I’ve done some thinking myself... if they’re both girls I’m probably gonna name em Mary and Jane...” She looked at them all proud about her decision with those names.

Jinny again burst out laughing but Kate nudged her, trying to keep a straight face herself. “Uhhh those are both really pretty names CD...” She started and swallowed. “I mean Mary is a pretty name... and Jane too... but uhhh... maybe you should consider giving them doublenames? Maybe Mary-Louise... and uuuuh... Elizabeth-Jane? Well I don’t know... something like that?”

“Hell yeah!” CD grinned at that. “I’m gonna name one of em Mary-Jane... and the other one... how about... Louise-Sarah DeLorenzo then?”

Eventually they calmed down again. “No seriously... I wanna see em before I decide on the names.” CD smiled.

“When we had Amanda actually the name we had chosen so far was Rebecca... but I don’t know, she was born and just looked like Amanda and not like Rebecca.” Kate grinned. “So I can understand that one.”

“Who gets to cut the cord? Or are there two cords? I mean they’re twins d’oh... there are two cords then? So Kate can cut one and I can cut the other one?” Jinny frowned since she really was helplessly clueless when it came to anything human that hadn’t gone through puberty yet. “Or do they share one cord?”

Now Kate was the one to burst out laughing. “See Jin, thing is.... with twins, one of em has a cord and the other one just shares everything with the second one then... and when they’re born the doctor right away hands the second one over to a plastic surgeon so both will have belly buttons in the end...”

CD laughed herself at that but stopped when she saw how pissed Jinny was looking. “Hey would you stop making fun of my babies please? Geez... poor little things.” She started to stroke her belly again. “Hey is some of that pizza left?”

“Uhhh no.” Kate sighed and her stomach grumbled too. She and Jinny hardly had gotten any pizza in the first place. “How about we order a new one?”

“Make that two!” Jinny said looking at CD. “Or better yet... five.”

They continued to joke around and have a great time until late at night when CD fell asleep on them. Smiling they tucked her in and left, realizing just how late it had gotten and went home as well.

Another week went by, Nate kept on getting his postcards, which now caused Jinny to laugh her ass off everytime he read out the latest one. But ever since all of her pranks, and because of the ones she still kept on playing on him every now and then, he just shot glares into her direction that of course she answered with glares of her own. No matter what CD said, for her he still was a jerk who didn’t wanna take responsibily for his children.

Then one day the opportunity Jin had been waiting for occured. Maga was acting all sneaky around her and she just knew she wanted something from her, and knowing her partner that only could be because of one thing. When they went for lunch Jinny decided to bring up the subject. “So, how’s Jonah?”

“Funny that you ask... he invited me to the opera tonight!” Grinning Mag took another bite of her salad.

“Opera...” Jinny wrinkled her nose and bit into her cheeseburger.

“Yeah, isn’t that great? Gabe would never take me out to the opera.” She grinned.

“I guess he’s just more into jazz and stuff, huh?” She washed some fries down with a big gulp out of her coke.

“ANYWAYS...” While Mag took a sip of her water she changed the topic. “Since Gabe has a gig tonight... and I obviously can’t ask my mom...”

“You want me to watch Ben?” Jinny smirked, she really wanted to do that this time so she could keep her promise.

“Oh would you? Jin that’d be aweseome!” Magda smiled over at her and then started to frown “But NO junkfood for dinner! No horror movies! Not too many sweets! And he is definitely NOT allowed to stay up until 3 am!!!”

“Would you stop holding that against me geez? He told me you always let him stay up until 3 am so he can watch Chucky!!!” Jinny growled.

“Well he liked the movie while we watched it!” Of course Jinny defended herself.

“I’m sure he also loved all the candy that gave him diarrhea while he ate it!” Magda glared at her.

Deciding that enough was enough Jinny glared back. “You want me to watch him or not?”

“Yes I do... WATCH him... not terrify him!” Looking out of the window she saw Jonah parking his car there. “I gotta go.” She quickly left and joined him in his car.

Rolling her eyes Jinny finished off Magda’s salad, her plate of burger and fries, payed the bill and went back to work.

In the evening she showed up at Mag’s house like promised, five minutes late though, which caused Mag to throw a fit again about how she never could count on her because she was irresponsible and a horrible partner. But before Jinny could tell her exactly what she was thinking of having a whore as partner, Magda was out of the door again already.

“FIVE minutes... geez.” Jinny rolled her eyes and wrinkling her nose stuck her tongue out after Magda.

When she heard Ben giggle behind her at that she turned around. “Don’t worry aunt Jin... I don’t mind, five minutes aren’t that bad... mom always gets pissed when she’s in a hurry.”

“Yeah I know.” She sighed and then picked him up and spun him around, which made him giggle some more. “Say?” When she put him down again she smiled, “Did you ever tell your mom anything about CD? That you saw her buy babyclothes because she’s pregnant?”

“No... why would I? It’s not like she cares anyways.” He sighed.

“Well that’s good actually.” She grinned. “Can you promise me something?”

“Sure!” Of course he agreed. “What?”

“Not to tell your mom? Or anyone else? Cause CD doesn’t want the people at work to find out about it, ya know? So it has to stay a secret between you, me, and her of course. Is that okay with you?” Jinny smiled at him.

“Cool! I love secrets, I won’t tell anyon!” Pretending he had a key in his fingers he locked his lips and threw the key away and grinned at Jinny.

“Great!” She smiled. “So watcha say? Wanna go surprise CD with a huge pizza?”

“YEAH!!!” Jumping up at that idea he grabbed his jacket, stuffed his gameboy and some other toys into his backpack after pouring out the stuff for school and ran up to Jinny again. “Ready! Let’s go.”

Chuckling at his enthusiasm Jinny led him to her car and they made a pit-stop for pizza, ordered three different ones since Jin knew how much CD could eat by now, added icecream and milkshakes to that and then drove over to CD’s place.

When she opened the door to her visitors of course CD was overjoyed. “Hey!!! My favorite pizza delivery people!” Smirking she opened the door some more for them to enter. “Come on in guys.”

“Whoa!!!” Ben exclaimed, being on eyelevel with her tummy.

“Well... I’m having twins.” CD exclaimed proudly.

“That’s rockin’!!!” He grinned as CD led them into the livingroom.

“Thanks... I think.” Chuckling CD motioned them to sit down. “Whatcha want to drink?”

“Uhh soda?” Jinny asked as she sat down.

“Chocolate milk?” Ben grinned, remembering the one she had made for him the last time. “Oooh Aunt Jin, ya gotta try that one!”

“You putting your happy pills into that?” Laughing she teased CD. “Okay, for me too.”

“Alright.” CD laughed. “Two Happy-Drinks comin’ right up!”

She quickly fixed those and then returned to them with one herself and theirs. Of course they dug in right away and finished all the pizza, not eaven leaving crumbs over.

Ben was full soon already and mostly played with his slice now. “Aunt Jin and Aunt CD?” He looked at them after noticing something.

“Yeah?” They both looked at him.

“Ya know those tiny holes that crackers have?” He raised his eyebrow at them.

“Uh yeah?” Jinny frowned while CD tried to jump up from the couch.

“SMORES!!!” She exclaimed when she finally managed to get herself into a standing position. “Uhh sorry... what about those holes?”

Ben gave her a slightly weird look. “Well there are some under my pizza...” He showed it to them and immediately shot out the words parents feared most. “Whyyyyyyyy?”

Cluelessly CD and Jinny looked at each other and shrugged.

“And why are they in crackers?” Of course now that he had started to ask he didn’t stop anymore.

Again the two women shrugged. “I have no idea... but I really want smores right now? Anybody else?” With that she made Ben forget about weird holes and they all went into her kitchen to make smores.

When they were done Jinny and CD talked a bit about some cases while Ben played with his gameboy and kept on glancing over at CD’s belly, wanting to ask her a million questions but a little too shy to actually ask.

“OWWW! Damn!” CD exclaimed after a while and cringed.

“Gettin abused as punching bag again?” Jinny laughed.

“Yeah yeah... keep on laughing, you just wait until you get yourself knocked up and see how it is!” CD shot her a little glare.

“Nuh-uh!” She put her hands up. “Not gonna happen Missy!” Then she grinned and placed her hands on CD’s belly. “That feels so amazing...”

“For you maybe...” CD muttered and then smiled at Ben who was watching them amazed. Gently she took his hand and put it on her belly as well. “Here... can you feel that?”

“Whoa!” When he felt something move inside of CD’s belly his eyes got real big and he looked at her amazed, losing his shyness. “What are they doing?”

“Just moving.” CD smiled. “Kicking... whatever... growing.”

“Cooooooooooool.” He hadn’t ever been this amazed before and slightly knocked on CD’s tummy. “Hello?” He called out and put his ear where his hand had been. “Can they hear me?”

“Yeah, but they can’t answer yet.” Stroking through his hair CD chuckled.

“D’oh... I know THAT.” He continued to listen though.

CD and Jinny smiled at each other and went back to talking about the case that wasn’t sitting right with Jinny because Magda was doing sloppy work, not caring about anything but how many hours were left until the next lunchbreak.

After a couple of hours Jinny checked her watch and smiled at CD. “I guess I should bring him home...” She pointed at Ben who had fallen asleep cuddled close to CD, his head on her belly still. “Before Mag comes back and notices we were gone.”

“Okay.” CD nodded. “I’m pretty tired myself actually.” At that she had to yawn. “And I didn’t do anything today... damn pregnancy.”

“Hey... chin up, you’re in the third trimester already!” Jinny smiled at her.

Smiling back she nodded. “Yeah, but I can’t wait til it’s over and I can hold them.”

“Me neither!” Jinny grinned and when Ben stirred a little she slightly shook him. “Hey Ben, wake up... it’s time to go home.”

At that he clinged to CD some more. “Noooo I don’t wanna! I wanna stay here with you and CD!”

“Awww Ben.” CD stroked through his hair. “You can come back again soon, okay?”

“Promise?” He looked at her with big eyes.

“Promise.” She smiled.

They said their goodbyes and Jinny headed home with Ben. They arrived just in time for Ben to go into his room and crawl into bed before Magda came home again as well.

Another week went by and at work Nate proudly showed off his latest postcard, from Marocco. Suddenly his phone ringed and he picked it up. “Basso.”

On the other end of the line a sobbing voice sounded. “Nate? It’s me...”

“CD?” He recognized the voice immediately but couldn’t quite believe it. It had been so long since they talked. “CD!!! CD!!!!” Exclaiming that he jumped up and then realized her voice hadn’t sounded happy at all. “CD?”

“Yeah it’s me.” Sniffing she continued. “Oh Nate!”

“Is everything okay?” He got really worried now. “Are you in Marocco still?”

“No I’m not.” She sobbed. “Nate, Nate listen to me... I gotta tell ya something... something really really really important.”
