But four actresses have now confirmed they don't/didn't get along with her. It can't just be all of them.
Of which I'm very glad. I hated to think it may have been anything catty on Tracy's part. She mentioned it when she said that "Mr. Belvedere" was filmed at/on/near the same studio as "Who's the Boss?" and some other show.

I wonder what Alyssa has done in modern years, or did back then?

Retro, if you get an hour, or do something for an hour where you can have something on in the background, I think you would enjoy that podcast Tracy guest stars on. It's so totally '80s with Pepsi, Michael Jackson, "Silver Spoons", "Growing Pains", of course "Mr. Belvedere", what a week was like filming Mr. B, etc. It's a great '80s Hollywood time machine for an hour!

And what really adds to it is the fact that Tracy and the host were best childhood friends.

It was a good interview.

She still has the same voice: Heather's voice.

Kinda cute moment: Tracy confused Patricia Heaton and Patricia Richardson: she said Patricia Heaton played the mom on Home Improvement.

Yes! She still totally sounds like Heather Owens! :loveya:

And Rob still sounds like Kevin, and Ilene still sounds like Marsha. But Brice now sounds NOTHING like Wesley!

Oo, good catch! She also was off a bit on her ages and seasons (for instance, for a show that's 6 seasons, she can't film the pilot when she was 12 and be 19 when the series ended). I'm noticing more and more this seems to be fairly common among actors from shows 30-40 years old; they don't quite get all the specifications right, lol.

She was probably 13 when she filmed the Pepsi commercial, and then had just turned 14 when they did the Mr. B pilot. But she did get the 19-when-it-ended part right, lol (she was born in March of '71).

Yeah, I caught the 12/19 issue, too. But those are her recollections, and it's important that she talks about those days the way she remembers them, even though some of those recollections have clearly faded.

I'm so glad her health has improved, and that she recovered completely from the brain tumor.

To give you an idea of just how HUGE they uploaded, I shrank your photos down to 15% of their original size---15%! Here they are at just a fraction of the original size!

But, very cool!! You got to see the entire giraffe family today! Awesome! And that sure is a beautiful okapi in the golden sunshine! Were you at a zoo, or are you at Disney again? lol

My favorite Disney World park is Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney-MGM Studios). When I worked there, it was my favorite park: so beautiful and uncrowded, and magical things happened to me at that park. Working at Feature, I got to work with Wayne Brady, Meredith Viera, and so many awesome celebrities. Who Wants to be a Millionaire was a highlight. The "snow" on the Streets of New York was so magical at Christmastime. The Tower of Terror was among my favorite rides.

It's not that I don't like Magic Kingdom, which has Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean (three of my favorite rides), it's just that that park fills up so quickly that you only get a brief opportunity to go when there are no lines.

At Animal Kingdom, I love Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids.

Epcot has some cool areas, including Club Cool/Ice Station Cool, and of course the World Showcase, but it is not my favorite, due to some bad experiences while working there. Oh, I do love the boats you can take from Epcot to other parks.

Aww so sorry you had bad experiences at Epcot. I just love it! Spaceship Earth, Soarin, Test Track, the countries! I loved Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights on Streets of America! Sadly they’re gone now as the streets were removed for Star Wars land. At Animal kingdom you have to go to Pandora it’s unbelievable. I’ve never seen Avatar so it’s ok to enjoy without knowing the material. Magic Kingdom was my favorite as a boy so I just have a special place for it in my heart. It absolutely can get out of control crowd wise though.

Haha yeah SSE is the one of the few original rides not drastically altered. Back in the 80s, EPCOT Center was chock full of 10-45 minute audio animatronic slow rides through history of various topics (communication, 21st century living, transportation, imagination, energy, etc.)

Pandora has a boat ride and a ride similar to Soarin’, but it’s much more realistic and immersive.

We visited Disneyland when I was a kid, and one of my favorite memories is Pirates of the Caribbean (I got a pirate hat afterwards). But we never went to Disney World. My first experience with Disney World was as a cast member.

In 2005, very few of those old Epcot informational rides were left. Mostly, those areas were empty pavilions. Gone were CommuniCore, Horizons, Magic Journeys, World of Motion, Universe of Energy, Journey into Your Imagination, and Captain EO. Placards in front of those areas said something would eventually be replacing those areas. It made the park feel oddly empty, to have six or seven huge empty buildings, all in Future World. Spaceship Earth was the main attraction in Future World, and to get to the end of that ride and see 1980s computers touted as "the wave of the future" was a little hilarious. Glad they finally updated and started filling in those empty areas. Also glad they finally removed that stupid wand on SSE that had been there for the millennium celebration in 2000.

Also: guests would always ask: "Where's Figment!?"

I found it odd, too, but that was something Disney just did at the time.

Disney-MGM Studios also had empty areas: the Disney Feature Animation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animation_studios_owned_by_The_Walt_Disney_Company#Walt_Disney_Feature_Animation_Florida) building at that time was mostly empty, closed in 2003 and not repurposed until 2015 (as the Star Wars Launch Bay). I worked in that building, doing web and media work, and it was mostly a skeleton crew.

Were you disappointed, crushed, interested, or just neutrally shocked?

Donald put his bill up to my head, and I could see inside his mouth. There was a layer of orange mesh, and I could see a girl's face. Donald pulled back, but I put my face back by his mouth to get a better look. The girl whispered "Shhhh!", but I didn't understand what she meant.

I yelled, "That isn't Donald Duck! There's somebody in a costume!" (or words to that effect).

I was shocked to my core, but nobody else even seemed to care, as if it somehow wasn't news to them. I kept insisting that wasn't Donald, but no-one paid me any attention. It was very frustrating.

I hadn't yet unraveled the mystery of the characters, and at that time still believed in Santa, etc. (I wouldn't find out about Santa until a year or two later).

Me too! What are they putting there? It's about time. It's been well over a decade since they closed that pavilion.

Hmm you might be thinking of the former counter service restaurant in Innoventions West. Innoventions was filled until about 3 years ago when exhibits started closing. Ellen was definitely still opened in 05-07, maybe a refurbishment? Yes WOL closed permanently in 07 and became space only used for festivals. They’re going to put in a new Innoventions inspired future city in the world of the Internet in WOL. The Land was renovated from 04-05 when they redesigned the interior for better access to the new Soarin’. The Circle of Life movie and Living with the Land boat ride remained opened for the most part. So really WOL was the only pavilion closed at that time.

Hey nature guys! We love okapis around here, and here's another rare animal---or, at least, not well known at all in this country. Indeed, much like the okapi, I'd never even heard of this animal until I saw it in a zoo! It's the golden takin, from Asia.

And, being a big Greek mythology fan, something I think is so cool about this animal is that it's believed to have been the inspiration for the legend of the Golden Fleece! (not to be confused with the Golden Felice )

Whenever I read the book series, I immediately think about this board.

Does she have friends named Sue Ann and Tootie?

*googles*

Blair is regarded as the "Queen Bee" of the Upper East Side. In the novel series, Blair is the daughter of Harold Waldorf, a rich lawyer and Eleanor Waldorf, a wealthy heiress from an Upper East Side family.

Well, that does sound quite a bit like "our" Blair. She's certainly the "queen bee".

Blair's father was caught cheating on Eleanor, which caused Eleanor to divorce him.

So Blair's parents are divorced, much like "our" Blair.

Soon, Blair's mother meets Cyrus Rose, a rich architect. Blair can not stand Cyrus and wishes he and his son Aaron Rose would just disappear from their lives. But unfortunately for Blair, Cyrus and Eleanor get married and soon get pregnant with a little girl named Yale (Blair's choice).

Well, that's completely different: our Blair's much younger half-sister is named Bailey.

Blair loves shopping at Barney's, Bendel's, and Bergdorf's.

Okay, this is getting a little eerie...

Well that was some cathartic emotional viewing.

The memorial service is one thing. But in "The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson" special from 1990 where the Muppets learn about Jim's life and his untimely passing, the part right near the end where the Muppets read letters of sympathy written from little children and show their sweet accompanying crayon drawings in sorrow over Mr. Henson, well...no can keep a dry eye if they watch that.

I don't understand, Retro.

I grew up loving country music, and I still love country music from the 50s to the early 2000s. A lot of the country music community is conservative. Now that a country singer has (so sadly) succumbed to this, IF a lot of people ignorant about this are country music fans (as that one commenter was), hopefully this will get them to broaden their minds about the situation and make sure they are taking precautionary measures.

I've been processing Joe Diffie's passing off and on all night. I wasn't really even a fan (I did like a few of his songs), but he was such a continuous presence in '90s country throughout that decade that it's hard to think he was taken away by this. Very sad, and very scary for those highly vulnerable.

I can't remember which thread we mentioned 1980s couches in two or three months ago, but anyway, here's a pic of one of ours! This was our couch in the late '80s and early '90s (doesn't it look so "late 1980s"?). That's our dog Rufus on it 🐶 (I'm pretty sure I took this pic). And as a bonus "Easter egg", look! There's a glimpse of an '80s cordless phone here too! (Nancy's ultimate '80s Christmas gift!)

My dad grew up with a couple of collies, and whenever he talked to people about getting dogs for our family he'd always say "I won't have anything but a collie! :grr:" lol. And they were great dogs. We had Rufus for 5 years. Then we had Beau for 12 years! Here's a pic I took of Beau sprawled on that late '80s couch in the late '90s. (wow, I never realized we had that couch for so long! lol)

(and Retro and Lorsie, if you guys notice in the lower left corner, that's a "Disney Days" daily desk calendar! lol---it's the 1998 one, with Hercules there, so this photo is either from post-Christmas 1998 or sometime in 1999)

First of all, Rufus and Beau are adorable, '80s!

Yes, that couch is totally rad!

Why are there so many newspapers and magazines strewn about?! And then, twelve years later, and the couch is still covered in paperwork! "Would you mind cleaning up around here? It's a mess!" ;) (Who said that quote?)

Just kidding! Thanks, '80s, for sharing a little bit of your life! BTW, who is the girl in the picture frame?

Really though, it wasn't uncommon for mail and stuff to collect in the middle of the couch, but in the Beau pic, since there's a LOT going on there, lol, I assume that was some "going through stuff" or clean-up in progress. Because usually, yes, you could actually sit on the couch.

Coincidentally, I was having FOL dreams for much of the night! In the episode where Molly Ringwald's aunt guest starred, Cindy's long hair was down to her ankles!!

And Retro, Molly sang again in one of the later-produced season 1 episodes after "Dope", and she was good! Like, Disney-record-good! I remember thinking in my dream you would have been amazed!

Wow! Nice photos of Florida!

And then, returning to the tundra... Brrrr! I know it's only Toronto, which has got to be the southernmost city in all of Canada, but OMG, what a shock that must have been to the system!

If you don't mind me asking, what all did you do in the Sunshine State? Lorimar was just at Disney World; you might have been in the same state at the same time.

I grew up mostly in the wintry Midwest (like Narnia, home to ever-lasting winter and almost no Christmas (just once a year, even!)), and am glad to be living in warmer climes since the 1990s, though I wouldn't mind a white Christmas once a decade.

Also, is that you shoveling snow?

Went to the Everglades, south Florida Beaches, Key West.

Key West is lovely! Very tropical and Caribbean-like. South Florida is also fantastic; I spent some time in Miami and loved my time there.

The Everglades are amazing. While I was there, I stayed at Billie Swamp Safari in one of the little mini-cabins with my girlfriend at the time. We were warned not to venture onto the decks behind the cabins, and in the morning, we discovered why: the alligators love sunning themselves on the desks, and each cabin's pier had exactly one alligator sunning him/herself on it!

We also spotted a Florida Panther, one of the most endangered mammals in the world.

Has anybody watch The Upshaws? It’s this show on Netflix and Kim Fields plays one of the main characters.

I haven't. The only "current" shows I watch are The Goldbergs and the smash hit "Ghosts". ("Ghosts" is fantastic. It makes you both belly laugh and choke up)
