Thanks for posting and yeah you know the drill I want what is that word. Hmmm..... oh yeah MORE!!!!

Well, you know, I was just afraid that someone might miss a good part if they had to go potty or something and I just didn't want that to happen, so...

But yeah, I did say I'd post more tonight, so here it is........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Magda: (puts an arm around Jinny to hug her) Get the test. I’ll give you my OB’s name and number, you can call first thing Monday morning. Tell them I sent you; they’ll take you in no time.
Jinny: (sarcastically) That’s reassuring. (into her radio) Okay guys, we’re going to lay low. First person to spot them, call out. Let’s try and get them before they get on the plane, but let’s not spook them. If all else fails, we’ll make them stop the plane. Everyone sound off.
(Jinny’ and Magda’s radios buzzed to life as ten different voices, one at a time, in order checked in. She then placed her radio back in her jacket pocket and continued on, into the airport terminal, talking to Magda and trying to act nonchalant. As they came to the metal detectors, they flashed their badges, and were still stopped. The officer made a phone call and verified their authenticity and allowed them to continue on inside the terminal.)
(Small talk between Jinny and Magda continued on for approximately half an hour, until they called for the plane in question to be boarded. That was the signal for everyone to move in closer, if they had not been apprehended soon. Jinny and Magda soon spotted the couple in question, as did several members of their crew.)
(Jeff spotted Jinny and Magda, and began to get an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. He felt he should know them from somewhere. As he made eye contact with Jinny, he realized where he had seen her and grabbed the girl’s hand as the tried to make their way through the line more quickly; causing many to curse them and even a few to fight; trying to keep him back. Jinny gave the word for all to move in, as she showed her badge, to no one in particular, drew her weapon, and called out.)
Jinny: SFPD!!! Everyone freeze!! Get down on the ground!!
(Most people screamed hysterically, fear of the unknown overtaking them. When Jinny called out again, most complied leaving Jeff and his new girlfriend open targets. Two officers tackled Jeff after a small chase on the tarmac; another two Sherry. They were quickly brought back inside and taken to awaiting police vehicles. Jinny replaced her weapon, as did Magda. Jinny looked around at the fearful people laying on the ground and nodded, straightening her jacket.)
Jinny: Thank you for you cooperation. Enjoy your flight.
(Jinny and Magda turn and as they are walking toward the exit, they can hear many sobbing, and many more cursing their backs. They pay no attention, as they retreat to the out of doors. Jinny turns to Magda.)
Jinny: You know, there are days that I love my job.
Magda: (smiles; shaking her head)
Well, it isn't much, but I'll try and post more tonight if I get to write....
Well, this week is going by VERY slowly. They are trying to teach me how to copy and paste, move files, save files, search files, and such. Um, okay. I think I've been computing long enough to know the basics. But anyways, the other peoples in my class are pretty cool, so at least that's a plus.
Well, sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was busy cleaning off my desk and cleaning out my computer for my new computer coming today. I figured I'd better post everything I had just incase something really terrible happened, lol, so here is what I have typed, anyways....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Jinny returns to her apartment to find Teddy laying on the couch, baby on his chest, sleeping soundly as the television informs Jinny that there is a way that she can get her dentures whiter. She tosses her bag onto the floor and walks over to the couch to check on the two who occupy it. She picks the baby up, as easily as she can, trying not to wake Teddy. She is unsuccessful, and rubs is eyes as he looks up at her innocently. She can’t help but laugh as he stares up at her.)

Teddy: Hey. How’d it go?

Jinny: Went off without a hitch. Of course they are denying everything, but I figured by the time they sit in a cell all night, they may be more willing to talk.

Teddy: (shrugs) I would be. (point at Joy) She just ate. She should be down for the count.

Jinny: Okay. I’ll go put her down. I’m going to grab a quick shower, too, while I’m back there.

Teddy: Okay. (looking at his watch) Wow. I’m not used to having such an early bedtime.

Jinny: Go ahead and rest. I’ll be back in a few.

Teddy: (yawning) I think I will. Now that you mention it.

(Jinny carries the small baby to her bedroom and starts to lay her down. She changes her mind and turns to the mirror, baby still in her arms. She cuddles the baby as she watches herself in the mirror, thinking about her and Magda’s earlier conversation. Me? she thinks. Pregnant? What would I do with a baby? She shakes her head in denial and returns the baby to the bassinet. She showers quickly and returns to find Teddy laying on the bed, waiting for her.)

Teddy: (smiling) I couldn’t sleep knowing that you were back here all alone.

Jinny: Oh?

Teddy: (nods)

(Jinny nods once and turns to her drawers to find clothes to wear to bed. She grabs the first thing she finds and turns, tossing it on the bed. Teddy slid to the end of the bed and stood, picking up her shirt.)

Teddy: Want some help?

Jinny: (smiles) Sure.

(Teddy helped Jinny get her shirt on. Once it was on he turned her around and hugged her from behind. She took his hands in her own as they stood there, quietly holding each other. Teddy bent his head down and placed a kiss on Jinny’s neck. She turned her head to make herself more accessible and closed her eyes as he continued. It wasn’t long before her shirt was once again off and strewn haphazardly on the floor. They continued to exchanging kisses for several minutes, before going further. When they did, it was with everything they had inside them; all the way to the end. Jinny lay, breathing heavily, afterward, still in Teddy’s arms.)

(Teddy quietly leaned over and kissed her one last time, as he turned over began to drift off to sleep. Jinny lay awake for a long time afterwards, thinking to herself. Could she really be a good mother? Joy had survived. Joy. She never paid any mind to the fact that she hadn’t used her name, until Magda mentioned it today. It had been an ‘it’ to her this entire time. Is that her baby would be? An ‘it’? Jinny thought about it for a few minutes. What would she call a baby of her own?)

(She’d never thought of baby names in the past. Never felt she’d have to. She liked the name Hannah; but Hannah what? Jennifer? No, definitely not, Jennifer. That was too close to her own name, and Jinny feared being jinxed with a child just like she had been growing up. But then, maybe if she had had a mother to help shape her and guide her... Jinny stopped her line of thought. This was ridiculous, she told herself. Jinny Exstead did NOT get pregnant. She was better than that. She used protection. With everyone except Teddy, her conscious reminded her again. Jinny told herself to shut up and go to sleep, to no avail.)

(Who even said she’d have a girl? She’d have to come up with boy names, too. What about Theodore? Nah... She told herself. What about John, after her dad? No, then it would turn out like John Jr. Jinny outwardly cringed at the thought. Teddy must have mistaken it for a shiver, because he turned over and pulled the covers up around her, snuggling close.)

(She tried to remain still, but as she grew more weary, and started to drift, she began to see images of the small girl again. She tried to remain calm, but her breathing became heavy as she followed the little girl hurriedly down a dirt road. She is just far enough ahead of Jinny that she cannot catch up, but can manage to keep the small girl in site. She turns down an even narrower dirt path and Jinny calls out to her to stop, but cannot be heard.)

(Suddenly Jinny looks away and turns back and the small girl is gone. Jinny calls her name, still unable to be heard. Jinny turns and looks behind her as she walks backward, looking for the small girl. When Jinny turns back around she is standing face to face with the child, being held in the arms of none other than her own mother. Jinny gasps, loudly, and stops, speechless. Her mother smiles at her and hands her the small child. As she reaches to kiss Jinny, she is awakened by a loud voice calling her name. She tries to ignore it, calling for her mother, who’s image is now fading into the daylight surrounding her.)

(Jinny is now in tears calling for her mother; fighting Teddy as he tries to restrain her long enough to wake her completely. Jinny finally gives up fighting and lays against Teddy’s chest, his arms around her tightly. She cries for a while, beating his chest with a hand she managed to get free. After a while, even that to too exhausting and she lay in his arms quietly. He laid back, pulling her back down with him and stroked her hair until she drifted off to sleep, fitfully at first, then more deeply. Teddy lays awake holding her for a while, until he too, falls asleep.)

I know, and I'm sorry. I really am, between school last week and this week and trying to work, too, it's been rough. Let me see what I have for you...well, it isn't much, but I'm working on it and I'll definitely post more sometime tomorrow evening...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(The phone began to ring early that morning as Jinny rolled over, trying her best to ignore it. She faintly heard Teddy answer it and then felt him nudge her, calling her name to wake her. Jinny finally gave up on sleep and reached out to take the phone. She spoke only a ‘hello’ and listened intently as the person on the other end spoke. She then said good-bye and handed the phone back to Teddy. She rolled over on her back and moaned, putting her arm over her face.)
Teddy: What did the Cap want this early in the morning?
Jinny: It’s three o’clock in the morning and some fisherman just pulled a body out of his swamp. And since Magda and I just closed our case, pretty much, guess who is up for this one.
Teddy: Oh, okay.
Jinny: (as the baby awakens) Damn!
Teddy: What?
Jinny: I can’t go anywhere, I have the baby.
Teddy: Go. I’ll call mom.
Jinny: No. She’s not your mom’s responsibility.
Teddy: Mom enjoyed yesterday. She said if we needed her again to just call.
Jinny: I can’t just ask her to…
Teddy: (kisses her to hush her) Go. She’ll love it.
Jinny: Okay, fine, I’ll go. You’ll be okay?
Teddy: I knew you’d see it my way. Yes, I’ll be fine. As tired as you, yes; but fine.
Jinny: Thank you.
(Jinny jumped up and dressed quickly, fixing Teddy a bottle to fee Joy before she left. She pulled up behind Magda’s car at the crime scene. She showed her badge to the officer at the crime scene and followed his directions down into the swamp looking for Magda. The smell of stagnant water wafted up to greet Jinny as she wrinkled her nose. She spotted Magda with the Medical Examiner and nudged her with an arm as she came up behind her.)
Jinny: (when Magda turned and saw her) Hey. How’s it going?
Magda: Good. You?
Jinny: I could think of better places to be at four in the morning. (back to the ME) What do you have for us Nora?
Nora: White male. Approximately sixteen to eighteen years of age. Probably drown about two days ago, maybe. I’ll have better results once we get him back to the lab.
Jinny: (looks around, indicates a bridge above their heads and to the left) Hey, Mag, what do you think? You thing EDDIE WUZ HER… has anything to do with it?
Magda: I don’t know. (she and Jinny turn to leave) Let us know what you find out, Nora.
Nora: Will do, Inspectors. Enjoy the sunrise.
Jinny: (quietly, to Magda) I’d rather be enjoying the rise of something else.
Magda: (playfully pushes Jinny) Jinny. (looking for the fisherman) Excuse me, sir. Are you the owner of this property?
Man: Yes, Ma’am. (looking them up and down) You the officer’s they sent out here?
Magda: yes, sir. I’m Inspector Ramirez, this is my partner, Inspector Exstead, and you are…
Man: John Walton. (to Jinny as she turns away smiling) Not a word.
Well, I'm glad you think so, thanks everyone for being so faithful, here's more..............
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jinny: Right, sorry. So, uh, you always fish at three in the morning?

John: Fish bite better before it gets hot, yes ma’am.

Jinny: You mean fish actually live in this place?

John: Yes, they do. Are you hear to learn how to fish or did you come about the body I found in my pond?

Jinny: (indicating the bridge with the unfinished writing on it) How long has that been there?

John: The writing? Oh, a few days, I guess. That’s not my property, I don’t pay any mind to it. That pond, (pointing) That’s mine.

Jinny: Right. I don’t suppose you heard anything the past few nights.

John: Nope. Nothing.

Magda: (exchanges looks with Jinny) Thank you, then. We’ll get back to you.

John: Thank you ladies.

(Jinny and Magda explored the scene of the crime for several more hours before retreating to their cars and heading into the station. They were preparing their preliminary report for the captain when Nora called Magda’s desk. After being on the phone for several minutes, and taking several notes, she hangs up and turns to Jinny.)

Magda: That was Nora.

Jinny: Yeah? And?

Magda: Seems our still nameless young man suffered from severe trauma to his head, neck and back, among other places. Said he was dead before he made it to the water.

Jinny: From a fall perhaps?

Magda: Sounds like a good possibility. Let’s go talk to the captain.

(Jinny and Magda knocked on the captain’s door and entered quietly as Kate was hanging up the phone. They went over everything they had learned that morning, as well as their newest discoveries from Nora.)

Kate: (nods) Great. Keep me informed. (as they are leaving) Jinny, can I speak to you for a minute?

Jinny: Yeah, sure. (sits back down)

Kate: (after Magda is gone) The adoption agency called earlier this morning.

Jinny: (sits up straighter) And?

Kate: The Kents are meeting them today to sign the papers. Can you have Joy ready this afternoon?

Jinny: (not sure of the emotion that just hit her) Um, yeah. Yeah, sure. She’ll be ready by seven.

Kate: (nods) I’ll call them back and let them know you’ll bring her there?

Jinny: (standing, turning from the captain to hid her emotions) Sure. There. Great. Not a problem.

Kate: Jinny?

Jinny: (turns half way around) What?

Kate: Are you okay with this? Would you rather me, or Magda take her?

Jinny: Okay? Sure. I mean, after all, she’s been nothing but problems for me since she’s shown up. I should be glad to get rid of her. (opens the door to leave)

Kate: But you’re not.

Jinny: (stops, caught) (looks to the captain) I guess, maybe she’s grown on me, a little.

Kate: A little?

Jinny: (shrugs)

Kate: Go on. If you change you mind about having someone else drop her off, let me know.

Jinny: (nods; quietly) Okay.

(Jinny walked out of the captain’s office in a daze and sat down. Magda noticed her state of mind and came over to lean on her desk. Jinny notice Magda’s presence and turned away slightly, but Magda was not to be deterred that easily. She turned and bent down, placing her head on her hands, and her elbows on Jinny’s desk, staring at her until she turned back to her.)

Magda: What was that all about?

Jinny: (waves her hands) Nothing. Just the adoption agency is meeting with the Kents today to sign papers for Joy.

Magda: Oh, yeah?

Jinny: Yeah. I have to take her to the agency this evening and turn her over to them.

Magda: (quiet for a minute) Oh. (pause) Well, hey. I have a quick errand to run before we head out today. I’ve already checked it with the captain, so whenever you’re ready.

Jinny: Great. Let’s go.

(Jinny rose quickly and headed for the door, leaving Magda to follow behind. She caught up quickly and quietly followed Jinny to their car. Jinny started to get in the driver’s side of the car. Magda inserted herself between Jinny and the car.)

Magda: I want to drive.

Jinny: Why?

Magda: Because I know where I’m going and it will be easier than trying to explain it.

Jinny: (holding the key up; curious) Okay…

Magda: (smiling; takes the keys, get in the car)

Jinny: (walks around the car; gets in) So where are we going?

Magda: It isn’t far. (starts the car) It won’t take long.

Jinny: Right. See… now I’m getting worried, because you won’t give me a straight answer.

Magda: Well, (pausing as she pulls out onto the road) I need to run by my doctor’s office and pick up a prescription for my pills.

Jinny: Your pills?

Magda: (sheepishly; shrugs) My birth control pills.

Jinny: And you had a problem telling me this because?…

Magda: (looking innocently) Because I kinda made you an appointment, too.

Okay, well, I had another boring day at school, so I'll post more, just for the fun of it..........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: You what?!
Magda: Well, I thought maybe you’d want to get a test.
Jinny: A test?
Magda: Yes. A test. A pregnancy test.
Jinny: Magda. I am not pregnant! I’m feeling better now.
Magda: Did you start?
Jinny: (quiet)
Magda: Well?
Jinny: (quietly) No.
Magda: See. You need…
Jinny: You need to stop, Magda. It’s from all the stress. Getting married, now having to worry about this reception that Teddy’s mom is planning. Now Joy. I haven’t been eating or sleeping right. That’s all there is to it. I’ll be fine once all this is over.
Magda: Come on, Jinny. Humor me. Prove me wrong.
Jinny: Okay, fine. I’ll do it. And when it comes back negative, you owe me.
Magda: Okay fine. (both quiet) So you’re taking Joy to the agency this evening?
Jinny: Yeah. (quiet) But hey. Then I’ll have my life back. No more crying babies, dirty diapers, no more having to wash bottles. God, I hated that.
Magda: (laughs) You could always breast feed.
Jinny: (gives Magda a daring looks) Magda.
Magda: Okay, fine. I’m sorry. You’re not pregnant. (pause as she pulls in the parking lot and they get out of the car) (walking toward the building) But if you are, what do I get?
Jinny: What?
Magda: You said when you proved me wrong, I’d owe you. So if you’re wrong, what do I get?
Jinny: Like I’m going to be wrong. I think I know my own body, Magda.
Magda: Yeah, well, let’s say there’s that remote chance that I’m right.
Jinny: What do you want?
Magda: I don’t know. I’ll think of something.
Jinny: Yeah, well, when I’m not, I want a fifth.
Magda: (looks at her, shocked)
Jinny: I’m kidding!
(Magda opened the door to the office’s waiting area and she and Jinny walked around several children as to the receptionist’s desk. Magda began to speak to the woman behind the desk as Jinny looked around the room. There were several children ranging in age from newborn to about ten along with their mothers, in every stage of pregnancy; every shape and size. Jinny pictured herself in that position and her head began to spin and her stomach began to roll. She vaguely heard someone call her name but she quickly excused herself and made her way to the bathroom.)
(She returned quickly back to the desk to stand by Magda. The receptionist gave Jinny a sympathetic look and handed her some papers, instructing her to fill them out and return them. She and Magda chose seats in the back of the office as Jinny began filling out the forms. She kept glancing around the room as children cried out.)
Jinny: (trying to concentrate on the papers; reading aloud to Magda) The date of my exam? God, does never count?
Magda: (shocked) You’ve never been to the gynecologist?
Jinny: (slightly embarrassed) Well, like, when I was sixteen. Dad made me go when he caught me with this football player.
Magda: And you haven’t been back?
Jinny: No.
Magda: Jinny.
Jinny: What?
Magda: You mean you’ve never had an (stops looking around; quietly) infection or anything like that?
Jinny: (changes direction) Magda, do we have to have this conversation?
Magda: Okay. (turning away) Geeze.
(Magda was called back to see the doctor, leaving Jinny to finish filling out the forms on her own. Again, several times, she was distracted, but finally finished the papers and returned them to the desk. She provided them with a copy of her insurance card, and returned to her seat, having to dodge a small child on her way. While waiting for Magda, Jinny tried not to pay attention to the others in the room. A nurse appeared from where Magda had disappeared, and call a name. A woman who was very pregnant stood and waddled into the inner office.)
(Magda returned with a prescription in her hands and sat down by Jinny. Soon after, the door opened and in came two small children ahead of a woman carrying a car seat. As Jinny watched the children, one bolted toward the toys, as the other’s attempt failed and she fell to the ground. The mother walked around her and sat the car seat down, giving a second woman carrying a matching car seat room to enter and sit. Jinny wasn’t sure what to think and merely watched the commotion as, from one car seat, an infant joined in with the tears of the small girl sitting on the ground. The mother blushed slightly as she first picked the small girl up from the floor and set her on her way towards the toys again, and then rushed to rescue the infant. Once the infant calmed, another woman began a conversation that Jinny found herself listening to, unintentionally.)
Lady1: How old are your twins?
Lady2: Six weeks, yesterday.
Lady1: Really? How sweet. Are they boys or girls?
Lady2: Girls. Mandy and Madeline.
Lady1: How sweet. Are they your only? Or are the other…
Lady2: Yes, they are mine too. Jeremy is two and a half. Maggie just turned one last month.
Lady1: Wow, you really have your hands full.
Lady2: I know. (putting a hand on the woman sitting by her) Thank God for Grandmas.
Lady1: Oh, I’ll bet.
Jinny: (turns to Magda as the conversation continues in the background) Someone needs to teach her how to say ‘No.’
Magda: (shakes her head)
Nurse: (appearing at the door) Jinny Exstead.
(Jinny stood and followed the woman through the door. She follows the nurses instructions to stand on the scale, taking time to remove her jacket and holster. After being weighed, Jinny is led to a room and seated. The nurse takes her blood pressure and looks up at Jinny as she is replacing the blood pressure cuff.)
Nurse: You’re nervous.
But I make no promises about tomorrow evening, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon, lol, CONSCIOUS SEDATION is gooooooooood, lol. But anyways, here's more................
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jinny: No, actually, I’m not nervous. I just don’t want to be here.

Nurse: (looking trough the papers Jinny just filled out) Let me make sure I’m reading this correctly. It’s been how long since you’ve seen a gynecologist?

Jinny: Yes, you’re reading it correctly.

Nurse: (eyes wide) Okay. If you’ll follow me back here, I’ll get you in a room and…

Jinny: And you know, I didn’t come here today to see one either. I just came to have a pregnancy test done to appease my partner. So, can I just pee in a cup and get out of here, please?

Nurse: (waiting patiently for Jinny to finish) That is a very long time to go between visits. You should have an exam every year.

Jinny: Yeah. I know that, okay. But I’ve never had any problems that weren’t cured by an over-the-counter medicine.

Nurse: That’s really not a good answer, (looking at her papers again) especially when you’ve had (quoting) ‘a lot’ of sexual partners.

Jinny: (defensive, loud) yeah, well, you know what, that was in my past okay?! And I don’t need you telling me what’s good for my health. (watches as the doctor and another nurse step out from nearby rooms) (more calmly) That’s the reason I don’t come to these places. I don’t need your judgment.

Nurse: (silent; very calm) (think to self, “My God. And they give her a gun?”)

Doctor: Is everything okay here?

Jinny: (quiet; more calm) Everything is fine… Just fine. (to nurse) I’m sorry.

Nurse: (once everyone returns to their previous tasks) This way, please, and I’ll get you in a room.

Jinny: (ashamed of herself) (nods; follows) Sure, fine.

(Jinny’s wait time was fairly short. She had changed to a gown and sat, feeling conspicuous. When the doctor entered, he notice her weapon laying on top of her clothes and pointed at it; having read her chart.)

Doc: So, what? You want a positive or negative test result? (smiles) I’m just kidding. It’s been quite a while since your last visit. Is there a reason for that?

Jinny: Yeah, I don’t like overbearing, judgmental doctors.

Doc: (quiet for a moment; considering) I guess that gives me a lead into my next question, doesn’t it? How many sex partners is ‘a lot?’

Jinny: (quiet)

Doc: I won’t be judgmental. You seem to be well enough aware of the consequences of such practices, but for the record, are we talking twenty? Twenty-five?

Jinny: (still quiet)

Doc: 30? (getting nervous) 40? I’m not going any higher than that. (makes a notation on her chart) We’ll leave it at a lot. (smiles)

Jinny: (as if apologetic) I’m married, now. I’ve had one partner for the last year and a half or so.

Doc: (nods) That’s great. (still reading) you say you’re a recovering alcoholic. How long has it been?

Jinny: Three hundred ninety seven days.

Doc: Wonderful. Because, that you’d get a lecture on, especially if you are pregnant. No drug use?

Jinny: No.

Doc: And have you been tested for HIV/AIDS, any STD’s in that time period?

Jinny: (shakes her head)

Doc: We’ll do that today. (writes more) Okay. You think you’re pregnant, give me symptoms; date of your last period?

Jinny: (quiet for a minute) I’m only two weeks late. I think it’s more stress. But my partner thinks I’m pregnant because I’ve been sick for about a week. I keep telling her that it was just food poisoning, but she doesn’t buy it. She insisted that I get tested.

Doc: You didn’t mention any mood swings. That’s normal for you?

Jinny: (not amused)

Doc: (shrugs) Better to know for sure. (stands) If you want to have a seat on the table, and lay back, I’ll get my nurse, and we’ll get started.

(Jinny was nervous through the exam and more so when he stood and told her she was finished and could get dressed. She was sitting again, rubbing her hands together nervously when he returned. He came over and sat down, looking at her momentarily before speaking, which caused Jinny to be even more nervous.)

Doc: So tell me again, are you looking for positive or negative results?

Jinny: (shakes her head as if she doesn’t understand his question)

Doc: (smiles; writes something on a prescription pad and hands it to her; then again and hands her another one) The first one is an order for your blood tests. Here is a cup. I think you know what to do with that. Take them both back to the lab, and they’ll get you set up. They second one is for a prenatal vitamin (noticing Jinny’s eyes widen) JUST in case it would be positive. If not, you can pitch it and not worry about it. You should have the results by Monday; we’ll call you and let you know. If it’s positive, we’ll set you up for another exam in about a month. We’ll go over the basics with you then. What to expect, and all that.

Jinny: Monday? Why so long?

Doc: Well, this is Friday. Then comes Saturday, and I don’t generally work weekends. And then there’s Monday.

Jinny: You won’t have them this evening?

Doc: It’s a possibility, but I wouldn’t count on it. (pause) Do I sense a little tenseness?

Jinny: I just… (takes a deep breath, shakes her head) No.

Doc: I’ll see what I can do. But I can’t make any promises.

Jinny: (nods) Thanks.

Doc: Sure. (opening the door to let Jinny out; points down the hall) The lab is that way, and then you leave back this way.

(Jinny followed the doctor’s directions down the hall until she found the lab. Everything was completely quickly and Jinny met the doctor as she was leaving.)

Doc: Now, what it really THAT bad?

Jinny: Compared to what? Being shot?

Doc: (smiles, holding the door for her) Have a good weekend.

Jinny: Yeah, sure.

(Magda stood when she saw Jinny return. She laughed when Jinny rolled her eyes and continued out the door and towards the car. Magda caught up and stopped Jinny.)

Jinny: (stopped Magda; sticks out her hand) Keys.

Magda: How’d it go?

Jinny: Keys.

Magda: Jinny…

Jinny: Keys, now.

Magda: (hands Jinny the keys, walks around the car, shaking her head)

Jinny: (unlocks her car door and gets in, followed shortly by Magda)

Magda: What? You’re all of the sudden not talking?

Jinny: I won’t know until Monday.

Magda: Oh, okay. So…?

Jinny: So, (unhappily) I got the standard speech about my unsafe sexual practices and my alcohol consumption. And then, he (pauses, taking her hands off the wheel momentarily to gesture) did what he does best and I know nothing more than I knew before I started.

Magda: (opens her mouth to speak)

Jinny: (interrupts her) And if I EVER let you talk me into such a stupid thing again, I’ll kill myself.

Magda: Oh, it wasn’t THAT bad. I thought you were used to having men down there.

Jinny: (looks at Magda, not amused)

Magda: (hands up) Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I know you’ve changed.

Jinny: I guess I deserved that, huh.

Magda: I’m sorry, really. I am. So, you have to wait until Monday?

Jinny: Yeah.

Magda: What are you going to tell Teddy?

Jinny: Absolutely nothing.

Magda: Jinny, he deserves to know.

Jinny: He deserves to know if I am. I’m not, and I’m not going to get his hopes up.

Magda: You’re not telling him anything?

Jinny: Nope.

Magda: (lets the conversation drop, shaking her head)

Okay, I honestly almost forgot to post, lol, and I haven't even taken any medicine yet. Haha... Well, here's more for those faithful ones out there still reading.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(The remainder of the day drug by for Jinny. She caught herself watching the clock several times. She was not the only person to notice her uneasiness. Jinny had been trying to complete some paperwork and finally sat back, sighing, throwing her pen down on her desk. The captain stepped out of her office and looked up at the clock herself.)
Kate: (to Jinny, startling her) Go home. Spend some time with Joy before you take her home.
(Jinny is silent for a minute, then nods, still sitting. Finally she stood and looked at Kate, nodded and thanked her. She turned, looked at Magda, and continued on toward the locker room. Once she was gone, CD, who had been quietly observing, turned to Magda, a smile painted on her face.)
CD: Is she, like, upset about this?
Magda: (smiling also) She swears she’ll be happy to see her go.
CD: Somehow, that doesn’t seem like a happy face.
Magda: (still smiling) I know.
Kate: Children can change people you’d never thought would change.
Magda: (nods) It sure changed me.
Kate: (looks at Magda, nods, turns back to her office)
(Jinny paused briefly in the locker room. She put her head against her locker and sighed. She then grabbed her bag and made her way to her car. She slowly started the engine and pulled out onto the road. When she made it to Teddy’s parents shortly after, she knocked on the door. Her back was turned to the door when it was opened, but she was quick to turn around.)
Olivia: Jinny.
Jinny: Hey, Olivia.
Olivia: Is there something wrong dear? You look upset.
Jinny: No, I’m fine. I just… We weren’t busy at work, so I decided to come home.
Olivia: Oh, okay. Well, come in, dear.
Jinny: (steps inside) yeah, Um, the Kents are signing the papers for Joy’s adoption today. They want her brought to the agency this evening and I just… um, …
Olivia: (nods, slowly) Of course. I understand. I’ll get her ready.
Jinny: (nods, afraid to speak)
Olivia: (after being gone for several minutes; returns, kisses Joy and returns her to Jinny; a weak smile on her own face) There now, Joy. You’ll do just fine with your new Mommy and Daddy. But you don’t forget your Mommy Jinny, do you hear me? (looks up to Jinny) Are you okay, dear? You look a little pale.
Jinny: (wipes a tear) Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just, um, going to go, though, okay?
Olivia: Of course. If you need me, even just to talk, you can call, anytime. (kisses baby on the forehead) Bye-bye, darling.
Jinny: Okay. Thanks. Bye.
Olivia: Bye dear. (knew Jinny’s exit was abrupt, but she understood completely)
(Jinny secured Joy in her car seat in the back seat, and got in quickly, heading home. Once she got home, she carried the baby inside and sat the car seat down, removing Joy. She sat down on her couch, baby in hand, and just looked at Joy, as Joy looked at her. Jinny wondered what she might be thinking. She wondered if she had been happy this week with Teddy and her. The baby sneezed and Jinny placed her against her shoulder and rocked back and forth on the couch, eyes closed. She wasn’t sure who she was attempting to comfort more; herself or the baby. She sat that way for an hour or so, not wanting to let go of Joy.)
(Jinny finally looked up at the clock and noticed the time. She decided that she should pack the baby’s things. She carried Joy into the bedroom and laid her down on the bed beside her. She began to pull the clothes out of the drawer she had finally decided to dedicate to her things, and folded each one tenderly, and placed it inside a small box. This is where Teddy found her: holding a small pink dress, fingering the small flowers on the front, in tears. He laid down on the bed by her, careful not to wake the baby. He watched her turn slightly away and finish packing the baby’s things quickly.)
(Teddy reached a hand over the baby and touch Jinny’s arms. She pulled away, wiping the tears that are running down her face. Teddy stood up and walked around the bed. He took the box out of Jinny’s hands and laid it in the bassinet. He took her by the arms and pulled her up to him, pulling her close. She put her head on his chest and her arms around him and cried. They remained this way for several minutes, before Jinny felt brave enough to look up. When she did, she found Teddy, also in tears, which caused hers to begin flowing again.)
Teddy: (after several more minutes) I take it Joy is going to a home today?
Jinny: (wiping her eyes; nodding) The Kents. The ones that, um, …
Teddy: The ones that had her before?
Jinny: (nodding)
Teddy: At least you know she’ll be taken care of.
Jinny: (nods) I have to take her to the agency in a few hours.
Teddy: (nods, quiet) Is this her all her stuff? I’ll take it out.
Jinny : (nods) Yeah. That’s it.
(Jinny and Teddy ordered dinner, but Jinny ate very little. She put Joy into her car seat and buckled her into the car for the last time. Teddy drove them to the adoption agency and helped Jinny carry her stuff inside. The Kents were already there waiting nervously for the small baby, Mrs. Kent in tears. Jinny took a deep breath and sat the car seat down on the desk of the woman who had been waiting with them. She took Joy out of her car seat, and hugged her close as she turned to the anxious woman. She took her out of Jinny’s arms in tears, talking softly to the baby. The baby began to whine, and a tear ran down Jinny’s cheek as she turned away. Mrs. Kent cuddled the baby for quite some time, as Jinny walked outside to help Teddy load the baby’s things into the Kent’s vehicle. When she returned, Mrs. Kent was sitting, holding the baby to her, smiling. She stood and joined her husband in thanking Teddy and Jinny for everything they had done to have the baby returned to them.)
(Jinny smiled, unable to speak, as Teddy shook hands with Mr. Kent. They accompanied the Kent’s to their vehicle and watched them depart with the infant. Teddy put an arm around Jinny and pulled her close, leaning against the car to support the both of them. They cried together for a few minutes and got in the car and drove away. The remainder of the evening, that sat in their living room, together, the television on, but neither really saw what was on it. They retired early and slept fitfully.)
(The weekend was a blur for Teddy and Jinny. They stayed home, and did nothing, which was very unusual for the both of them. Jinny rose Monday morning, glumly, not wanting to go to work, but not wanting to remain at home either. Teddy convinced her that it would be better to go, to get her mind off of everything that had happened. She finally agreed, and dressed slowly. She kissed Teddy half-heartedly and departed for the station. She walked inside and sat down at her desk, waiting for Magda, who was in the captain’s office.)
(Magda and the captain walked out of the captain’s office and looked at Jinny, head in her hands. When Kate began to speak, Jinny turned around, but looked uninterested in what was being said. Once CD and Nate were dispatched to investigate a crime and Kate called Jinny into her office. Jinny walked in behind the captain and shut the door. She remained standing until the captain indicated that she be seated. Jinny sat, not wanting to be there at all. There was a silence in the room for a few minutes and then Kate spoke up.)
Kate: How’d the exchange go?
Jinny: (nods; quietly) Fine.
Kate: (watches her, apparently expecting more detail)
Jinny: (shakes her head, shrugging) Is there something else you wanted?
Kate: You want a few days off?
Jinny: No. I had a few days off. I just need to get back out there and get my mind on my job.
Kate: Jinny…
Jinny: Cap…
Magda: (knocks on the door and enters) Sorry to interrupt, but um, Jinny, you have a phone all, (raises her eyebrow, to indicate that Jinny maybe really want to take the call)
Jinny: (nods; turns back to Kate) Is that all?
Kate: (nods) Sure. Close the door on your way out.
Jinny: (leaving) (she picks up the phone on her desk) Exstead. (pause) Um, yeah. Okay. (pause) Right. (pause) (sits down, dramatically) Um, okay. (writes something on a sheet of paper on her desk) Okay. (pause) Okay, thanks, bye. (hangs up the phone; remains without turning around)
Magda: (waits for a minutes then rests her elbows on Jinny’s desk) Well?
Jinny: Well.
Magda: What they say?
Jinny: They said that my STD testing came back fine.
Magda: And?
Jinny: And what Magda?
Magda: (eyes wide, big smile; low to keep Raina from hearing) Are you?
Geez ....... and I thought you people enjoyed suspenseful writing... Okay here goes........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jinny: (turns away, under her breath) Yes.

Magda: What? Did you say yes?

Jinny: (gets up, looks at Magda; quietly) Yes, I said yes. (heads toward the locker room)

Magda: (left to be happy all alone; follows Jinny)

(Magda walks into the locker room to find Jinny sitting on a bench across the room, head hung low. She walks over and sits by Jinny, saying nothing. They sit there for a few minutes quietly before Magda speaks again.)

Magda: You’re pregnant?

Jinny: Yes. What am I going to do with a baby, Magda? I can’t…

Magda: You did great with Joy, Jinny.

Jinny: I didn’t do anything right, Magda.

Magda: You did everything right, Jinny. You did everything you needed to do. Having a baby is difficult when you have time to prepare yourself. Cut yourself some slack, Jinny.

Jinny: How am I supposed to know what to do Magda? You? You had… (stops)

Magda: A what Jinny? I had a what?

Jinny: A mother. You had a mother.

Magda: (sits quietly for a moment) Jinny, you were great with Joy. That’s all that matters.

Jinny: (nods) You think?

Magda: (puts a hand on Jinny’s knee as she stands) I know. You’ll do great.

Jinny: (stands)

Magda: (hugging her) I’m so excited for you. I can’t wait to spoil that one.

Jinny: (smiling for the first time) Ha! I guess now is the time I should start regretting all those things I taught Ben?

Magda: (laughing as they walked out of the locker room) Oh, yeah.

Teddy: (as they run into him) Morning ladies. (to Jinny, more sincere) I guess you’re feeling better?

Jinny: (smiles shyly) Some, yeah. Thanks.

Teddy: (smile) Good. I gotta go. Raina has some papers I need to pick up for a court hearing tomorrow. I’ll talk to you later. (quick kiss) Bye.

Jinny: (blushing) Bye. (looking around to see who was watching)

Magda: (laughs at Jinny) So how are you going to tell him?

Jinny: (sighs) Oh, God. You’re right. I do have to tell him, don’t I?

Magda: Of course you have to tell him. What are you thinking?

Jinny: Well, sorry, I haven’t done anything like this before.

Magda: You have to let me know how he takes it.

Jinny: (thinking) I think you’ll know. I think I know how I’m going to tell him.

Magda: Oh, yeah? How?

Jinny: (smiles) Keep watching, my friend.

(Magda watched Jinny turn and walk away, a smile painted on her face. She followed Jinny back into the division. Jinny returned to her desk and finished the paper work she was working on last Friday when she had gone home.)

(The rest of the week passed by quickly and Friday rolled around before Jinny was prepared. She told Teddy she was going shopping for a dress for their reception. She refused his company, informing him that she wanted to surprise him with her choice. He kissed her seductively, and she walked away before he enticed her into more exhausting practices. She got in her car and drove to the mall, where she entered through the May Company and browsed through their clothing. Jinny decided that she would continue on through the mall. She stopped, as she passed Baby Gap, and turned around. She stood outside the store for a few moments before she convinced herself to actually walk inside. At first, Jinny wandered, not looking at anything; afraid to touching anything and feeling self-conscious.)

(Jinny was about to turn and leave when something caught her eye. She turned and eyed them for several minutes, then mustered the courage to actually pick them up. As she held them in her hands, it began to feel more right. Jinny selected another pair, replacing the ones in her hands, and walked to the check out. She waited a few minutes, looking around to see if she was extremely noticeable. She finally made her way to the register. She laid her purchases on the counter and avoided they eyes of the cashier. The cashier smiled as she gave her the total and bagged the item. Jinny handed her the money and held a hand out for her change, which she quickly accepted and exited the store.)

(Jinny continued on her way down the mall, searching out the perfect store, and the perfect dress for her husband. She wandered into Gottschalks and looked around, a bit shyly at first. She looked over a few racks of dresses and selected one from the third. She turned it around and then shook her head, replacing it on the rack. After searching a few more racks, and examining a few more dresses, Jinny found the perfect dress. It was light blue and cut low in the back. Jinny lifted the price tag and glanced at it painfully. She returned even it and continued shopping. Her gaze kept returning to that dress, and finally talked herself into buying it. It wasn’t often that she bought herself something, and she decided that it was time for her to do something special for herself. For her husband. Not only did she pick up the dress, but she made her way to the lingerie aisle and selected a new bra and panties, to wear beneath it. She had no intentions of the dress remaining on any longer than it was necessary. Jinny made her way back home. Panicking about what to do with her earlier purchase, until it was needed. She decided to place it in the trunk until tomorrow, and until the perfect time. She made her way back up to her apartment, avoiding Teddy’s attempts to seee what she had purchased. She returned soon enough and greeted him properly, lingering as long as possible. They turned in shortly afterwards, Jinny laying in his arms, her back against his chest. They lay quietly for a while and Jinny thought Teddy had fallen asleep. Suddenly he kissed the back of her neck.)

Teddy: I miss Joy.

Jinny: (shocked) Do you really?

Teddy: What do you mean, “Do I really?” Don’t you?

Jinny: (laughs quietly) I haven’t slept well all week, waiting for her to wake up so that I can feed her.

Teddy: (after a long silence) Do you think one day we can (pause) I don’t know… maybe talk about kids of our own?

Jinny smiles to herself in the dark and squeezes his hands. She rolled over onto her back and turned her head toward his. No words were spoken as their kisses intensified and clothes were quickly shed. Their lovemaking welcomed the sun as the alarm clock sounded. Teddy hit the alarm clock and laid back, taking Jinny back into his arms. They lay there quietly for a time, Jinny’s head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.)

Teddy: (kissing the top of her head) You’ve been quiet this week. Is there something wrong?

Jinny: (shakes her head against his chest, saying nothing)

Teddy: Are you sure? Because you can talk to me about it.

Jinny: No, I’m fine. Just… I don’t know… anxious about today, I guess.

Teddy: (nods)

Jinny: (looks up, over him at the clock) We need to get moving. I need to get a shower so I can get dressed.

Teddy: So I don’t get to see this dress before the reception?

Jinny: (smiles, teasing) No. I want you to be surprised.

Teddy: Is this a good thing? I mean, we’re not talking tiger print with ruffles? Are we?

Jinny: I promise, you’ll be pleased.

Teddy: You always make me happy. I love you.

Jinny: (smiles) Yeah?

Teddy: Of course. (sitting up) Go get ready. I’ll go to my parents’. I’ll see you at the pavilion.

Jinny: (kissing him) Okay.

Well, since I'm a nice person, and made such a horrendous threat earlier, I'll be nice and post just a bit more before I go to work...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Teddy gathered his clothes and departed with a long, intimate kiss. Jinny showered quickly, excitement overcoming her trepidation. She dressed quickly, putting on her make-up. She paused, several times, looking up in the mirror, over her shoulder. She was puzzled at herself for a while, not sure exactly what she was looking for, until the heard the faint laughter of a child. Jinny turned quickly, startled. She stopped, and turned back to look at herself in the mirror, taking a deep breath. She chided herself for being so paranoid, and finished applying her make-up. She pulled her hair up and pinned it into place the way Teddy liked it, and smiled at herself in the mirror. Jinny strolled to her car, slowly. She made her way to the pavilion, following the directions that Teddy’s parents provided her. She pulled up outside and looked at the steps leading up to the front of the building, taking a deep breath before opening her door and getting out. Magda came out of the building and rushed up to her, smiling broadly.)
Jinny: (smiles) You look like someone who knows something. (pausing, getting back into her car, retrieving her pearls)
Magda: (taking Jinny’s arm) Come inside with me.
Jinny: Magda, slow down. It’s not going to start without me.
Magda: (slows down; puts her arm around Jinny) I am so happy for you.
Jinny: (stops just outside, staring at the door) I don’t know Magda.
Magda: You don’t know about what? You’re already married. This… (pointing inside) this is just icing.
Jinny: Yeah, but all those people in there…
Magda: Are here because they’re happy for you.
Jinny: Yeah. I guess.
Magda: (pulls on her arm again) Come on. Teddy isn’t here yet. Let’s go upstairs. I want to show you something.
Jinny: Magda…
Magda: (pulling her up the stairs) Come on…
(Magda stopped outside a room in the upstairs hallway and turned to Jinny. Jinny was about to question her motives, when Magda opened the door. Jinny stepped inside the room, to find the most beautiful wedding dress she’d ever seen. She looked around the room at Olivia, Kate, CD, Raina and then back to Magda, who was smiling now from ear to ear. Jinny stood looking around, unsure of what was going on. She shook her head, confused.)
Olivia: I got this phone call the other day, I thought was highly unusual. Seems, I heard you had these pearls that someone wanted you to wear on your wedding day.
Jinny: (eyes wide, looking to Kate)
Kate: (shrugs) It was no big deal, really. I just made a few phone calls. I, uh, I hope you like the dress.
Jinny: (stutters) It’s beautiful. I don’t understand…
Olivia: What is there not to understand, dear? (walking over taking Jinny’s hand and leading her over to the dress) You’re going to put on this dress and you’re going to go down those stairs and down that aisle; and you’re going to tell my son again how much you love him.
Jinny: (a tear in her eye, looking around) I don’t know what to say.
Olivia: How about, ‘I do?’
Jinny: (smiles nervously)
Olivia: Well, we’re going to go and let you get ready.
(Magda stayed behind to help Jinny get her dress on and fixed up. Jinny was quiet through most of the process, answering Magda’s questions, but not offering anything to the conversation.)
Magda: (picked up the package that Jinny had carried in with her) What’s this?
Jinny: Um, well, it’s just something I got. (pause) For Teddy.
Magda: Oh? Anything good?
Jinny: (smiles shyly) You can look at it if you want.
Magda: (raises an eyebrow, carefully opens the package and picks up the item laying in the bottom of the bag) (Her mouth drops) Jinny!!
Jinny: (shrugs) You wanted to know how I was going to tell him.
Magda: Wow.
Well, there you go, hope you enjoy the night as much as I will (not). The WHOLE night. hehe Okay, well nite and enjoy....
Okay, here's more......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jinny: You think he’ll like it?

Magda: (nodding) Yeah, I think he’ll like it.

(There was a knock on the door and Magda returned the item to the bag and answered it, opening the door wider to permit the captain. Magda stepped outside as Kate walked over to where Jinny was sitting touching up her make-up. Kate stood quietly behind Jinny, watching her face in the mirror. Jinny turned to her after a few minutes, questions on her face.)

Jinny: Why?

Kate: Pardon?

Jinny: Why did you do this? (sweeping her hands down, indicating the dress)

Kate: Honestly?

Jinny: (watches her)

Kate: I don’t think I’ll ever see my own daughter get married. (shrugs) You know, I don’t want you to take this the wrong way, but I care about you, Jinny. I care when you screw up, I care when you’re upset, I care.

Jinny: You mean you feel sorry for me.

Kate: (sigh) Jinny, I ride you so hard, because I know you have potential. You don’t always exhibit the best judgment. I know you’ve tried hard to get your life back together, and I’m proud of you. You know, when you came back, I told you there were no hard feelings, and I don’t think you believed me; but I meant it. I just wanted to do something for you to show you that I was sincere. I want you to be happy, and I want you to know that I am here to support you in any way I can.

Jinny: (quiet; not sure what to say) (nods; finally finds her voice) Thanks. (pause) Thanks for believing in me. (pause; wipes away a tear) For everything.

Kate: (nods) Sure.

Jinny: (rubbing her hands together) God, I’m already married, why am I so nervous?

Kate: That’s normal. You’ll be fine, really.

(Another knock on the door and Olivia sticks her head inside.)

Olivia: It’s almost time dear. You have one more visitor, if you’d like.

Jinny: (turned around to see her dad standing in the door, looking awkward) (quiet) Hi.

John: Hey, Jinny-girl. (shrugs)

Jinny: (Olivia and Kate both leave) Come in, dad.

John: Ah, you’re beautiful Jinny-girl. (taking her hands, and looking her up and down)

Jinny: (blushing) Thanks, dad. Is Casey here?

John: And John Jr.

Jinny: (rolls her eyes)

John: He’s going to behave. He’s here to see his sister get married. (as an afterthought) Again.

(Jinny smiles as she turns around to get the box her mother’s pearls were in She hold it up to her father.)

John: Here let me help you.

John takes the pearls out of the box and puts them around her neck as she turns back to the mirror to watch him. She put her hands on her pearls and fingered them, letting them drop back down on her neck. She turned back around to her dad, a tear in her eye.)

Jinny: I wish Mom were here.

John: She wishes she could be here, I know it. You were her baby, Jinny-girl. She loved you so much.

Jinny: (smiles as tear runs down her cheek)

John: (grabs a tissue and dots the tear) Don’t cry Jinny-girl. You don’t want to mess up your make-up. (music wafts up from downstairs) I think that’s our cue. (offering her his elbow) Are you ready?

Jinny: (sniffs) Yeah.

(Jinny and her father make their way downstairs where Magda is waiting to precede her up the aisle, accompanied by Ben and a small girl that Jinny doesn’t know. She is informed that she is some relation to Teddy, and she nods as the two children begin up the aisle. Jinny takes a deep breath and Magda looks back at her, smiling. Magda is then instructed to begin her voyage down the aisle as Jinny is instructed to take her place.)

(As the music begins, people begin to rise and turn toward the back of the room, waiting to get a glimpse of the nervous bride. After only a short pause, she grips her father’s arm more tightly and they begin down the aisle. Jinny doesn’t recall the majority of the trip down the aisle, but when she locks eyes with Teddy, all of her anxiety, and all of her fears seem to drain away, and she smiles for the first time. Her father gives Teddy her hand, kisses Jinny, and then retreats to his seat to watch the remainder of the ceremony.)

(Jinny turned to Teddy, returning the smile he was giving her. He mouthed the words ‘I love you’ to her and she returned those words to him. He then mouthed the words ‘You’re beautiful’ and she blushed and turned to the minister, as he began, smiling at the two of them. He began with a prayer that led on, into the ceremony. The ceremony took relatively little time, but to Jinny, it seemed to drag on forever. She couldn’t help but think to herself that they made the right choice in going to Vegas. Teddy’s constant, reassuring smile is the only thing that kept her calm. He was her rock, and she loved him.)

(The minister pronounced them husband and wife, and they met in a long, passionate kiss. When they parted, Jinny blushed as many in the crowd cheered. Teddy turned her around the rest of the way, to keep her from hiding, and they began their trek back down the aisle. They stood at the door and greeted the guests as they filed out to meet the ‘newlywed’ couple. Jinny felt awkward, she knew so few of the guests that were present. Teddy introduced her to a few as they hugged or shook hands with them, but he didn’t have time to introduce her to all of them. Jinny just smiled and continued to greet them until the stopped coming.)

Olivia: (hugging first her son, then Jinny) Well, we have a party to attend. Come on, it’s downstairs.

Jinny: (taking Olivia’s hand as she turns to leave) Olivia.

Olivia: Yes, dear?

Jinny: Thank you. For all of this.

Olivia: Of course, dear. Run upstairs and get changed. People will be wondering what happened to the two of you. (smiles) Come Theodore, dear. Give Jinny time to change.

Teddy: Okay, I’m coming. (kisses Jinny again) See you in a few.

Jinny: (smiles) Okay.

(Jinny did not spend much time changing. She didn’t to be alone with her thoughts for very long. She grabbed the package that she’d carried in with her earlier and headed downstairs. She stepped inside the large room, searching for a familiar face. Many people came up to her, introducing themselves and congratulating her. She smiled and thanked each one. Teddy finally made his way to her, and stopped, putting his arm around her.)

Teddy: You right. You’re beautiful. I love the dress, too.

Jinny: (smiles, embarrassed)

Teddy: Hey, um, I kinda got you something. I don’t know if you you’ll like it, but… I mean, it’s nothing big, or expensive or anything. (takes her hand and leads her away from the crowd to a more quiet place; he hands her a box) Open it.

Jinny: (opens the box to find a porcelain angel surrounded by rose colored flowers) (she looks up to Teddy)

Teddy: (stuttered) Um, I, um, thought, that um, maybe we could visit your mother’s, um, grave… (shrugs), I don’t know, if it’s stupid… I mean, we could just… (trailing off) forget about it…

Jinny: (tears come to her eyes; she fights them to keep them from spilling over) (smiles; nods) (chokes up) Thank you. (she hugs him for several minutes, until she feels confident she can finish what she started) I, um, I kinda got you something, too.

Teddy: You did? You didn’t have to. I just…

Jinny: It isn’t anything big, either. Just something I wanted you to have.

Teddy: Okay.

(Jinny got up and retrieved the small gift bag she had brought with her. She looked up to see Magda and CD talking the distance. When Jinny flashed the bag, Magda smiled and perked up, paying close attention. Jinny handed Teddy the bag to Teddy, slightly embarrassed. Teddy smiled at her, and she returned his smile. He paused and watched her for a few seconds. She was ringing her hands nervously. Teddy knew that the contents of this bag, was far more important to her than what Jinny was playing it off to be. He looked at her one last time, and smiled. He removed the tissue paper that lay in the top of the bag, and put his hand down into the bag to withdraw whatever was inside. What he pulled out, puzzled him.)

As for my fic, I've scratched it. It stunk, probably because I was comparing it to yours:p Anyway, I'm going to wait to the season finale and see what's going on so I can build from there. Besides, I write best during History class...it keeps me awake;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Teddy: Jinny, these are great shoes, but, um, they’re just a little too small. I haven’t worn a size 0, (realization) …since… I… was… a… ba…by. (looking up, flabbergasted) Are these…?
Jinny: (nods; nervous)
Teddy: And you’re…?
Jinny: (nods again)
Teddy: (stands) (points between the two of them) We’re…
Jinny: (nods)
(Teddy grabbed Jinny, laughing and crying, spinning around and around with Jinny in his arms. He stopped suddenly, putting her back down, placing a hand on her stomach, then withdrew it.)
Teddy: I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Are you okay? I mean, I didn’t hurt you or anything?
Jinny: (shakes her head) (quiet) No. I’m okay. (pause) So, you’re happy?
Teddy: Happy? Jinny, we’re pregnant. How could I not be happy? (too loud drawing the looks of the closest of the crowd) Of course I’m happy! (more quietly) I’m sorry. Of course I’m happy. (to the crowd) It’s okay, sorry. Enjoy the drinks, we’ll eat soon, just… (pushing his hands toward them) just, go back to whatever it was you were doing… (back to Jinny) Are you sure?
Jinny: Yes.
Teddy: How? (stopping Jinny) Okay, I mean, I know how… but, I mean, how? When?
Jinny: I don’t know, yet. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks.
Teddy: (grabs her again, and hugs her tightly) God, this is so great! I can’t believe it. Us. A baby. (sigh) Wow.
Jinny: (smiles)
Teddy: Come on, let’s go tell everybody.
Jinny: (takes his hand, stops him) Teddy, wait. You know, I can’t be very far along, you know. I think we should wait for a while.
Teddy: Wait? (takes a deep breath) Yeah, wait. Right. Sure.
Jinny: I’m sorry, but yeah, I’d like to wait.
Teddy: Okay. (nods) Sure.
Jinny: (tearing up) You’re okay with this, right? I mean, me? Us? Having a baby?
Teddy: Okay? (smiling, putting his arm around her as they walk back toward the crowd) I’m great with it. I couldn’t be happier, Jinny. I couldn’t ask for more. I have a job I love. The woman I love. And now a baby. What could be better.
Guy: There they are. Teddy, get over here! We have to make a toast to the happy couple. If they’d just stop being happy long enough for someone else to get a word in.
Teddy: (smiled) Okay, Mike. We’re all yours. Toast away.
Mike: Great. Thanks for you time. (handing Teddy a wine glass)
Teddy: (passes the wine glass to across Jinny to Magda, who gives him a glass of water; holds it up)
Mike: (curious look; continues anyway) Okay. (hold his glass up) Here is to Teddy and his lovely wife. (tips his glass to Jinny)
Jinny: (smiles shyly)
Guy1: (from down the table slightly) You can’t flirt with her now, she’s a married woman.
Guy2: (again from down the table) Never stopped him before. (all laughed)
Mike: But seriously. Teddy, you are my best friend and I wouldn’t have made it through my teenage years without you… and Mary Lou Patnik, but that’s a story for a different occasion, believe me. (all laugh; Teddy is shaking his head a little) I expected you to be the first to fall in love and get married, and have kids.
Teddy: (looks at Jinny and smiles)
Mike: But you held out and waited, like always, and it paid off. I wish you the best man. (raises his glass higher) To Teddy and Jinny.
All: Teddy and Jinny.
(Teddy sets his glass down and looks at Jinny, who is looking back at him, smiling. He puts his arms around her and pulled her close, leaning down and kissing her. Many watched as the kiss extended for a several seconds. Several hoots and guffaws were heard, as they broke apart, Jinny blushed and sat down, followed by Teddy and the rest of the room.)
(Once the meal was over, Olivia called Jinny and teddy over to the cake. Jinny stood adoring the cake for a few minutes. It was beautifully decorated, and had a fountain in the center. The cake was cut as several cameras flashed and after some instruction, fed each other a small piece. Teddy carefully placing a small spot of icing on her nose. After having some difficulties with hand placement, they shared their first drink of ginger ale and posed for what seemed liked a million photos.)
(Olivia finally stood on a small platform and asked for everyone’s attention, asking for Teddy and Jinny to take their places on the platform along beside her. After making a small speech about how she was so happy for them, the band began to play and they shared their first dance, Jinny shyly holding her face on the opposite side of Teddy, away from the crowd. Jinny’s dad then requested his turn along with Teddy’s dad, Casey, and surprisingly, John. Jr. Jinny finally decided it was time for a break and Magda joined her, off in a corner.)
Magda: So, um, he was pretty happy, huh?
Jinny: (smiling) Yeah.
Magda: That was a pretty slick thing you did. The shoes. I wish I had thought of that with Gabe, when I had Benjamin.
Jinny: Where is Ben?
Magda: Oh, he wanted to come, but I said told him you’d come by in a few days.
Jinny: How much longer is this going to go on?”
Magda: (shocked) Jinny…
Jinny: Sorry, I guess I’m just not into parties at the moment.
Magda: (looking off in the distance) Hey, look. I think you have a visitor.
Jinny: Oh, yeah? (looking in the same direction as Magda; eyes widening) Is that…?
(Jinny stood and began in the direction she was looking. As she approached the Kent’s, they too, headed in Jinny’s direction. They stopped, facing each other, neither speaking. Mrs. Kent handed Joy, dressed in a silky white gown, to Jinny.)
Mrs. K: We couldn’t let little Joy miss this event. We knew you’d be missing her by now.
Jinny: (smiling, cooing to the infant) Thank you. I really appreciate this. She’s so beautiful in this dress.
Mrs. K: Thank you. We can’t stay, but I just wanted you to see her today. You’re free to come visit anytime you wish. (hugging Jinny) I know you’ve been married a few weeks now, but congratulations.
Jinny: Thank you, so much. (kissing Joy) Bye, baby. (turning around as Joy left, Casey comes up, hugging Jinny)
Casey: I have to go to work.
Jinny: (nods) Thanks for coming. (walking Casey out)
Casey: You’re welcome. You could have told me, you know.
Jinny: I know, Case. It was just, kind of a spur of the moment thing. Sorry.
Casey: That’s okay, I still love you. I’m glad you’re happy.
Jinny: Thanks, Case.
Casey: Bye.
Jinny: Bye.
(Teddy and Jinny finally departed and headed toward home. When the got there, they sat down and turned on the television, flipping through the channels. Teddy went through the channels twice, and found nothing that interested him. He turned sideways, putting his legs up on the couch, forcing Jinny to do the same. He put his arms around her and held her tightly.)
Teddy: I thought Saturdays were supposed to be great lazy days to watch television.
Jinny: (smiling; turning the television off)
Teddy: Okay. What? You have better ideas?
Jinny: (turning around her on her knees, putting her arms around his neck) (nods)
Teddy: Want to share them with me?
(Jinny nods and kisses him gently, then harder. Teddy slid himself down on the couch, pulling her with him. He ran his hand through her hair and pulled her as close as they could be. He kissed her on the cheek and then moved to her neck where he kissed her, then more roughly, causing her to gasp. He put his hands under her dress and slid it up over her head. It landed on the floor, forgotten as he began to work on her under things. Soon, Jinny was clad in nothing, as she began to work at his clothes. Teddy stood, to assist in removing his pants and Jinny sat up on the couch, kissing him stomach, and rubbing is arms. He picked up her, easily and walked back to the bedroom, carrying her in his arms. He planted her gently on the bed, laying down on top of her as she scooted herself up onto the bed. He lay down on top of her, then picked himself up a little.)
Teddy: (looking down at her stomach) Do you think it’s alright?
Jinny: If it were going to hurt me, I think it already would have.
Teddy: You’re sure?
Jinny: Not completely, but…
Teddy: (lays down beside her)
Jinny: (disappointed; sighs) Teddy, it’s okay…
Teddy: I want to be sure first, that’s all. When do you have appointment?
Jinny: (sighs) In a month. Teddy, we can’t wait that long. (emphasized) I can’t wait that long.
Teddy: (smiles, tracing a finger from her shoulder to her elbow.) I just don’t want to hurt the baby. I still can’t believe it. Us. A baby.
Jinny: (avoiding the issue; rolling over on her side to face him; kissing him) Teddy. I’m okay. Come on… (arms on his sides)
Teddy: Jinny, I just… I don’t know…
Jinny: (kissing his chest; then again)
Teddy: You’re making this very difficult.
Jinny: (continues to kiss him, her hands roaming)
Teddy: Okay, you know what, there’s more than one way to…
Jinny: (hushing him with her mouth)
(Teddy placed both his hands under her arms and pulled her up, on top of him, hugging her close. Jinny never missed a beat. Teddy let out a slow, deep breath before he began trading kisses with her again, his reserve dissipating with his self control. They lay, breathless, for sometime afterward, the sun beginning to set in the evening sky.)
Teddy: So, let’s go shopping.
Jinny: What?
Teddy: Let’s go shopping.
Jinny: For what?
Teddy: Baby things.
Jinny: (laughing; sitting up) Teddy. I just found out I’m pregnant. I can’t be more than a month, come on…
Teddy: Well, we’ve got to start sometime.
Jinny: (stares at Teddy, blankly)
Teddy: (hold his hands up) Okay, okay. Maybe next week.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Jinny lays back down in Teddy’s arms, shaking her head. They drift of to sleep in this manner, Jinny stirring several times, dreaming dreams of pretty little girls. She woke with a start early in the morning, causing Teddy to awaken, as well. Sunday was a lazy day for them. Teddy retrieved the angel and flowers, and sauntered into the living room slowly, unsure of himself.)

Teddy: Hey.

Jinny: Hey.

Teddy: (producing the angel) Um, I thought maybe we could… (shrugs)

Jinny: (silent for a moment; nods; quiet) Um, yeah. Sure.

Teddy: I mean, if you don’t, that’s fine, but…

Jinny: (stands, getting close, putting a hand on his chest) No… that’s okay. I’ll go change.

Teddy: Okay.

(Teddy was aware of the drastic change in her attitude at the mention of going to the cemetery. He truly hoped that this wasn’t a line he shouldn’t have crossed so soon. She returned quickly, having changed, and put on her leather jacket; her attitude still reserved. Teddy put the small angel in a bag and they walked quietly down to the car. Jinny chose to drive, finding it easier than giving Teddy directions. They were both quiet on the trip. Jinny pulled up at the cemetery and sat in the car, looking over the expanse of gravesites facing her. She looked at Teddy, who was watching her, took a deep breath, and got out of the car. Teddy joined her in front of the car, and put her arm around her as she slowly began to walk through the cemetery to her mother’s grave. She turned down a path about half way through the cemetery, and stopped suddenly. Teddy looked down at the gravestone before him, it didn’t seem to be Jinny’s mom.)

Jinny: (a deep breath, staring on down the path ahead of her; shaking) Have I told you that this is the second time I’ve been here since she died?

Teddy: Only twice?

Jinny: Yeah, the first was when we buried her.

Teddy: (looks at her shocked, but she isn’t looking at him) I’m sorry. Do you want to be alone?

Jinny: (shakes her head vigorously) No. That is definitely not what I want right now.

Teddy: (grips her hand more tightly, to show her his support)

Jinny: (takes another deep breath and continues) I’ve come here, yeah, but I’ve never actually made it this far. (pause) Yeah, I generally don’t make it out of the car.

(Teddy is quiet, not sure what to say. Jinny finally comes to a stop in front of a grave, set off by itself, under a tree, by the woods. She doesn’t move for some time, seemingly frozen in place; gaze affixed on the stone rising from the ground before her. On the grave, a name: Sue Ellen Exstead. Teddy read and reread her epitaph. Our precious mother, may God rest her soul. He was shaken from his reverie when Jinny finally spoke.)

Jinny: What do you do when you come to visit someone that’s dead? (beginning to panic; talking faster and faster) Do you put the flowers down and leave? Do you talk to them? What? I don’t know.

Teddy: (putting an arm around her to calm her; he can feel her shaking) I don’t know. I’ve never given it much thought. I suppose you just do whatever you feel like to you need to do. You can talk to her if you want. I won’t …

Jinny: (loud; angry; to the gravestone) Why?! Why did you do this to me?! How could you leave me here?! Alone?! I hate you!! I hate you!!

(Teddy slowly lowers the angel to the ground where it is safe, and takes Jinny in his arms, letting her cry He doesn’t know what else to do, but hold her, and let her take her anger out on him. After a few minutes, she stops hitting him, and is quiet, but for the sobs that occasionally escape her. He guides her down onto the ground in front of the gravestone, and they sit there for some time, quiet.)

Jinny: Do you think she knows I’m married? That we’re having a baby?

Teddy: I don’t know. We can hope. What was she like?

Jinny: What?

Teddy: Your mother. What was she like?

Jinny: Um, she was beautiful. Long black hair. Green eyes. And her make-up was always perfect. I resented her growing up, because she got to wear all that stuff, and look beautiful. And those pearls I wore yesterday? They were hers. I had begged for them for years. (pause, thinking) She always seemed to know just what to say. When John and I were fighting, or when Casey wouldn’t leave me alone. She just… she always knew just what to say, or do to make me feel better. (pause; thinking) She never lost her temper, no matter what. No matter how mad she got at us kids, she never raised her voice. Her and dad, though, that was a different story. They fought all the time when we were in bed. He drank too much, and it was going to be the death of him. Of our family, she’d say. But he never listened. (pause) She was so mad when Casey told her that he let John and me drink. I couldn’t believe how mad she got, (laughs despite herself) it was just one beer. (pause) She loved us. She did. (trying to keep from crying) She tried so hard to keep us straight. To keep us on the right path, but… Dad didn’t help much, he was always drunk, or gone. (hand over her mouth, hiding her grimace; unsuccessfully trying to hold back tears) I just don’t understand why she… (hand out; point to grave) …why she’d do that.

Teddy: (pulling her closer to him; kissing her on top of the head) Shhhh…… It’s alright. It’s okay. If you don’t want to do this…

Jinny: (shakes her head) I keep seeing her. First when we still had Joy. I saw her holding our baby.

Teddy: Jinny…

Jinny: It’s a girl, I know it.

Teddy: Jinny…

Jinny: I can just feel it.

Teddy: (not wanting to argue; kisses her on the top of the head) Okay.

Jinny: (after a long pause) I think I’m ready to go now.

Teddy: (looking at his watch, starts to stand up, helping Jinny up with him) Sure?

Jinny: Yeah.

Teddy: Okay.

(Teddy hands Jinny the angel, and Jinny accepts it, slowly. She turns around and places it in front of the gravestone, then returns to Teddy’s side, turning, to admire it. She smiles up at him and nods her acceptance of the ornament, and they turn and leave.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Teddy and Jinny spent a good part of the remainder of the evening discussing the life changing experiences they were about to endure. Jinny seemed very uncomfortable at even discussing matters of the baby; Teddy figured it was because she was still in shock from the discovery.)
Teddy: Are you okay? I mean you’re so distant.
Jinny: Yeah, I’m fine.
Teddy: Are you sure? Jinny…
Jinny: We can’t stay here.
Teddy: What? What do you mean?
Jinny: When we had Joy last week, the landlord stopped by and told me that we could stay here with a baby. We’ll have to move.
Teddy: That’s not a problem. We’ll find somewhere else.
Jinny: (quiet)
Teddy: (putting a hand on her chin and picking it up) What’s wrong?
Jinny: You make it sound so easy.
Teddy: Huh?
Jinny: Having a baby. You make it sound so simple. Let’s go buy furniture. With what? I just spent three-hundred dollars on a dress that I’ll probably never wear again. We can’t stay here, so, oh, okay, we’ll move. You just make this sound so simple. I’ll have to take off work, and…
Teddy: Jinny… (interrupting her) Jinny… calm down. It’s okay.
Jinny: It’s okay? Since when is it okay? We just got married and now a baby?
Teddy: Jinny, it’s okay, really. It’s okay.
Jinny: (shaking her head) (a tear rolls down her cheek) It’s not okay.
Teddy: (holding her close) Yes. Yes it is. It is okay. You’ll be okay. We’ll be okay. It’ll be an adjustment, but we’ll adjust, and everything will be okay. (calmly) I have some money put back, and we’ll start saving some too, and we’ll be fine. Wait and see. (kissing her on top of the head) We’ll be just fine. I promise.
(The remainder of Sunday was spent quietly, Jinny in Teddy’s arms the majority of the day. As they lay on the couch, Teddy’s hands explored Jinny’s stomach. He wasn’t sure what he’d expected to fine, but found comfort in knowing that inside Jinny’s stomach, safe and sound, lay his child. His son, or his daughter. Preparing to greet them, to love them unconditionally. To depend on them for it’s every need. Teddy began to question his preparedness for such an event. They had successfully attended the needs of an infant for an entire week; and found it exhausting; would they survive longer?)
(Jinny looked up at Teddy and found him to be deep in thought. He finally looked down at her and smiled. She returned his smile and settled back down in his arms. They were soon sleeping soundly and barely heard the alarm clock in the bedroom the following morning. Jinny sat up, stiffly, stretched her sore muscles. Teddy showered quickly, giving Jinny more time to wake up. She was still cranky when Teddy passed her in the hallway, smiling. He raised his eyebrows as he watched her pass by and continued on into the kitchen to fix himself some breakfast. They kissed as they parted ways for the day, Jinny seeming to be more cheerful after her shower.)
Teddy: (teasing as she go in her car) You’re not a morning person are you?
Jinny: Mornings? Please, (rolling her eyes) I’m not a day person.
Teddy: (smiles; kisses her one last time) I love you anyways.
Jinny: Thank you for putting up with me.
Teddy: (shrugs) What can I say? It’s a fault I have.
Jinny: (smiles broadly) Bye.
Teddy: Bye. I love you.
Jinny: I love you, too. (mouths as she pull out) Bye.
(Jinny walked into the Felony Division more cheerful than she had initially greeted the day. Though, she still had a ways to go before she’d call herself ready for the day. CD watched her enter the office and sit down.)
CD: Good morning. Your wedding was beautiful.
Nate: Yeah, and the reception was good, too. Who catered it?
Jinny: I don’t know. I’m sure I could find out if you really want to know.
Nate: Not really, just conversation. (smiling) What I really want to know, was who was the chick in the green dress? She was really cute.
CD: Cute? (turning back to Jinny as Magda came in) I believe the word he used Saturday, was ‘hot.’
Jinny: (smiling) Some of Teddy’s family, I guess.
Nate: Just wondering, because she was talking with your dad.
Jinny: (shakes her head) Must have been one of John’s girlfriends, then. I don’t remember seeing her.
Magda: Why, Nate? You have a crush?
CD: (rolls her eyes) New one every week.
Nate: Hey, I’m a young, single guy. I’m allowed to shop.
Magda: Now you’re starting to sound like Jinny.
Jinny: Hey. You get to try a car out before you buy it. Come on.
Magda: Yeah, but you don’t get to try out every one on the lot.
Jinny: (smiling) Depends on how well you know the sales manager.
On a dorito chip? Boy you are deprived, lol, here's more....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Magda: (shaking her head; giving up)

Kate: (interrupting anything anyone else may have had to add to the conversation) Anything new on the kid case?

Jinny: (straightening)

Magda: We believe he was attempting to desecrate a bridge, when he fell. Thing is, we don’t know how he made it in the water from the point he would have it on the ground.

Jinny: We’re waiting on and identity from the ME.

Kate: (nods) Nate? CD?

CD: (shakes her head) Still trying to locate the girlfriend. Seems she’s split, too.

Kate: Keep me informed. Raina can I see you a moment?

(Jinny and Magda waited at the station for Nora to call with the identity of the boy they had found. Until then, they worked on odds and end paperwork. Jinny caught herself picking up the phone to call and replacing it. Magda caught her doing this for the second time and questioned her.)

Magda: Hey, Jin?

Jinny: (turning around) Yeah?

Magda: You need to make a phone call, or something?

Jinny: No. Why?

Magda: You just keep picking the phone up and putting it down. I was just wondering.

Jinny: (embarrassed) I just keep thinking I need to call and check on Joy, or something. I don’t know.

Magda: (smiling) That feeling only gets worse, you now.

Jinny: Great. Scare me now.

Magda: (smiles as she answers the phone) Ramirez. (pause) Hey, Nora. (pause) Good, how was your weekend? (pause) Mine too. What do you have for us? (writing) Great, thanks, Nora. Right. I’ll remember that. Bye.

Jinny: And the verdict?

Magda: James Brandt Hatcher; age 17. Nora went ahead and passed the name off over the weekend, seems he’s been convicted of several misdemeanors in the last year, and possession charges. His BAC was 0.3, and he was positive for THC.
Jinny: Marijuana. And that surprises you?

Magda: (shakes her head) We’ve got an address, so let’s get going.

Jinny: Alright. Let’s roll.

(Jinny reached for the address as she walked passed Magda, and out the door. They met at the car and Jinny unlocked her door. They pulled out onto the road and headed in the direction of the home. They got out and met at the front of the car, staring up at the massive expanse of the house before them. They exchanged a look, and headed to the front door. They knocked and waited for a few minutes.)

Jinny: This is going to go well, I can see it now.

Magda: (rolling her eyes) I know.

Jinny: (as the door is opened) Hi. I’m Inspector Ex… Blumenthal, this is my partner, Inspector Ramirez. (flashes badges) We’re here to speak to Mr. and Mrs. Hatcher.

Maid: Come in (shows them a sitting room) Please have a seat. I’ll let Mrs. Hatcher know you’re here.

Jinny: Thank you.

Woman: (as she enters the room) Ladies, is there something I can do for you?

Jinny: Mrs. Hatcher? I’m Inspector Blumenthal, this is my partner, Inspector Ramirez. We’re here about your son.
Woman: Mrs. Hatcher is so formal, please call me Lydia.

Jinny: (look at the woman) Mrs. Hatcher, do you have any idea where your son is?

Lydia: Of course. He’s spent the week at a friend’s house.

Magda: Can you give us the name of that friend?

Lydia: Of course.

Jinny: Mrs. Hatcher, you really have no clue where your son is, do you?

Lydia: (confused; annoyed) Of course I do, I told you, he’s …

Jinny: He’s with our friend at the medical examiner’s office, Mrs. Hatcher.

Lydia: (confused) I’m sorry…

Magda: (interrupting Jinny) Mrs. Hatcher, we’re sorry to have to be the ones to inform you, but your son was found in a pond Friday outside of town. He’s dead.

Lydia: (mouth drops, hand over mouth; shaking her head) NO! No! No, he’s not!! Get out! Get out!! He’s at a friends!! Get out!! No!

Jinny: Mrs. Hatcher, we’re terribly sorry to have to bring you this news, but we need to ask you some questions about your son and his friends.

Lydia: (calming slightly after several minutes) Okay. But first tell me what happened.

Magda: (looks at her sympathetically) We aren’t completely certain, that’s why we want to get the names of his friends. We believe that he fell from a structure while vandalizing it. He had head, neck, and back trauma, which we believe is why he died. But what we don’t know is how he got in the pond.

Lydia: My son would never vandalize someone else’s property. How dare you…

Jinny: Mrs. Hatcher, your son has been missing since at least Wednesday, and you had no clue. What else didn’t you know about him? His blood alcohol was 0.3, which is three times the legal limit, and bordering on toxic, in itself. He tested positive for marijuana, do you really believe he was thinking clearly? Laying over a railroad bridge at three in the morning was beyond the smartest thing to do. His friends probably weren’t in any better shape.

Here's more....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lydia: Are you saying someone put him there intentionally?
Magda: We believe that is an option.
Lydia: But who? One of his friends?
Magda: We don’t know that at the moment. That’s why we need the names of his friends. We need to question them to find out what happened.
Lydia: Of course. (takes the paper Magda hands her and writes down the name and phone numbers of about four people) These were his closes friends.
Jinny: Thank you, Mrs. Hatcher. We’ll find our way out.
Lydia: (nods; not rising)
(Jinny and Magda return to their car with the names of the people that Mrs. Hatcher had given them. Once they get in the car, they head for the high school. They make their way through the crowd of kids in the hallway, and to the office, stopping at the desk. Behind the desk sat a very stern looking woman, typing at a computer.)
Jinny: Excuse me, ma’am.
Lady: (not looking up) One moment, please.
Jinny: (looks at Magda) Excuse me, I’m Inspector Blumenthal, this is my partner…
Lady: (stops typing and turns to Jinny, stern look)
Jinny: (shows her badge) …this is my partner, Inspector Ramirez, we’d like to speak to the principal.
Lady: (facial expression never changes) Concerning?
Jinny: (not backing down) Concerning a case we’re investigating.
Lady: (sighs) He isn’t in today. You can speak to Vice-principal Woods or you can return tomorrow.
Magda: Vice-principal Woods will do, thank you.
Lady: (never taking her eyes off Jinny) Very well. Excuse me, while I see if he’s busy… (returns) He’s in his office, this way.
(Jinny and Magda follow her into another office where a young, pleasant man was sitting. They are instructed to sit, and the woman exits back to the outer office. The vice-principal gives them a reassuring look, then begins.)
Woods: What can I do for the two of you?
Magda: I’m Inspector Ramirez, this is my partner, Inspector Exstead…
Jinny: (low to Magda) Blumenthal.
Magda: (pauses, looking at Jinny) Right. Blumenthal, and we’re here to question a few of your students about a case we’re investigating.
Woods: You know, being torn from their classes by the police, can sometimes be traumatizing for a young mind.
Jinny: We’ll make it as painless as possible.
Woods: Do I get any insight into this (searching for a word) investigation?
Jinny: Sure, what student has missed school since last Wednesday, and you’ve apparently failed to contact the parents about it, because his mother was unaware that he was missing this morning when we spoke to her.
Woods: (amusement fades) I’m not sure I know who you’re talking about. I don’t take care of the attendance.
Jinny: (hands him a list) These are the students we’d like to question. One at a time, and we’ll use your office. Thanks.
Woods: (unhappy) Of course.
Magda: (while Woods is gone) So, Teddy’s happy about the baby?
Jinny: He wanted to go shopping last night.
Magda: Wow. He’s really excited about it, huh?
Jinny: Excited is not the word… (watches the first of the students being led in and seated)
Magda: Are you David? David…… (looking at the paper) Gray?
David: Yes.
Magda: Well, David. Do you have any idea why you’re here?
David: You mean at school?
Jinny: Try again, my friend.
David: Who are you?
Jinny: Inspectors with the Central Felony Division. We have reason to believe that you were with James Hatcher during his last living moments. Care to tell us what you were doing?
David: His last living moments? What is he? Dead?
Jinny: (to Magda) This kids pretty smart.
David: He’s dead?
Jinny: What? You need to hear it a third time?
David: What? Are you blaming me? I didn’t know anything about it.
Jinny: Really, because him mom said he spent last week with you.
David: He told him mom that, and he did spend Monday and Tuesday with me, but he took off with some friends Wednesday afternoon. He never came back.
Magda: Who did he take off with?
David: (looks at them but doesn’t say anything)
Jinny: Well?
David: I don’t know, some of his friends, his parents didn’t approve of them. When he went out with them, he always said he was staying at my house. His parents didn’t care about him, they were always too busy for him. They handed him money hand over fist, to keep him out of their hair.
Magda: So, you don’t know his friends, and you’ve never been to Seacrist, on the outside of town?
David: (cocks his head to one side; shakes his head) No.
Magda: Thank you David. We’ll be in touch.
David: (gets up; leaves)
Jinny: He’s lying.
Magda: (looks at Jinny)
Jinny: He is, I know it.
Magda: (gets up to tell the vice-principal they are ready for the second person on their list; returns, waiting)
(The question two more of the young folk and feel they have gotten no pertinent information out of either of them. They also feel after several discrepancies, that they are lying, but haven’t been able to catch them yet. They wait patiently for their final teen, supposedly James Hatcher’s girlfriend.)
Girl: (enters the room, stops just inside the door; looks like a caged rabbit)
Jinny: Melissa George?
Missy: (nods) Missy.
Jinny: (indicates a chair with her hand) Have a seat. (as she’s sitting) I’m inspector Blumenthal, this is Inspector Ramirez, we have some questions to ask you.
Missy: Okay.
Jinny: I understand you were dating James Hatcher.
Missy: Yes. Jimmy and I have been dating for two years now.
Jinny: He hasn’t been around the last few days. Do you have any clue where he’s at?
Missy: (shakes her head; looking down)
Jinny: (suspicious) You were dating him. You’re not the least big curious that he hasn’t been around recently? I knew when my boyfriend didn’t show up for a date. You didn’t have a date scheduled for over the weekend?
Missy: He hung out with his other friends a lot, too.
Jinny: See, I keep hearing a lot about these other friends, but I haven’t heard any names, and I need names. So, unless you can give me names for these friends, I’m going to assume that you’re lying to me, and that’s not a good thing in a murder case.
Missy: (eyes wide) Murder?
Jinny: Yeah, murder.
Missy: But…
Magda: Go on.
Missy: (shakes her head) No. He just went out with friends and he…
Jinny: And he’s dead. So, you want to tell me where you were at this past Tuesday and Wednesday nights?
Missy: Tuesday night I was with Jimmy, and David, and Jeremy, and their girlfriends. Wednesday, I was home.
Magda: All night? And you parents can vouch for that?
Missy: They went to church, but… (stuttering) He’s dead?
Jinny: Very.
Missy: (shakes her head, in tears; gets up; leaves)
I'm glad your day has been good, here's a little more to hopefully brighten your day more....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Jinny and Magda intervened in the argument, sending both parties in opposite directions. Magda walked away with David, while Jinny escorted Lydia back to her vehicle. Once they were at her car, and as she was getting in, Jinny stopped her from closing her door, and leaned into the car.)

Jinny: Mrs. Hatcher, you can’t do this. You can’t harass these kids. We don’t know yet, what happened to your son. We have no proof that they had anything to do with this.

Lydia: We have no proof they didn’t either. Jimmy was supposed to be with David.

Jinny: He could have left. Kids do that these days.

Lydia: Not my Jimmy. Not without telling me.

Jinny: Toxicology showed that he was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol, he wasn’t thinking clearly.

Lydia: I can’t believe Jimmy would do that. He was a good boy.

Jinny: Toxicology reports are conclusive, Mrs. Hatcher. And they’ll stand up in court. We’re trained professionals, let us handle this. I don’t want to be picking you up next week for harassment. Do you understand me? Because this is the only warning you’re getting.

(Jinny and Magda made their way back to the station at about two o’clock. They reviewed the information the had been given by the mother and by the students with the captain and discussed the mother’s earlier outburst. They agreed that they group of teens stories did not match and decided the girlfriend would probably be the easiest to target.)

(Jinny and Magda then decided to break and went across the street to the Anchorside to grab a quick lunch and had just sat down to enjoy their meal when a tall young man made eye contact with Jinny. Jinny smiled and turned back to her conversation with Magda. When they were half way through their meal, this gentleman rose from his place at the bar carrying two drinks in his hands. He sat one down in front of Jinny and pulled a chair from the next table over, and sat down with his own drink.)

Guy: Hey.

Jinny: (looked at him and then turned back to Magda)

Guy: You know, when a gentleman buys you a drink, it impolite to refuse (taking a drink from his own glass)

Jinny: (picks the glass up and sets it back down in front of him) I, uh, (shaking her head) don’t drink.

Guy: Oh, come on, its just one drink.

Jinny: (angry) You know, why don’t you just leave.

Guy: God, loosen up. How long has it been since…

Jinny: (smiles, shaking her head) Oh, you want me to get drunk, so you can spend the night with me?

Guy: Well, you know, I was working that way…

Jinny: How about I go you one better. (taking her handcuffs from her jacket) How about I skip the drink, and you spend the night with one of my co-workers, behind bars, because you’re really starting to piss me off…

Guy: (backs away, hands up) Hey, okay, come on. Alright. I get it. I’m done. I’m leaving.

Jinny: Good. It’s been fun.

Guy: ((turns to walk away) Geez. Crazy bitch.

Jinny: (starts after him)

Magda: (taking Jinny’s arm) Jin. Jin… Hey, come on. Let him go. Come on. Let’s finish eating.

Jinny: (watches as the guy pays his tab and exits before she turns and sits back down) God, what is it with men these days?

Magda: With men?! What is it with you, Jinny?

Jinny: With me? He was…

Magda: He was attracted to you. (shrugs) So, he’s got a weird way of showing it. You just remember, you were there not that long ago.

Jinny: (not happy about Magda bringing up her old ways) Thank you, Magda. I really needed that.

Magda: (eyes wide) Jinny…

Jinny: (hands up) You know what, Mag, just forget it. (throws money on the table and walks off, back to the station)

Magda: (adds money to what Jinny put on the table, takes one last drink of her soda, and follows Jinny out the door)

(Magda caught up with Jinny as they entered the station. Jinny looked sideways at her, but never spoke. They were quiet on the elevator and as they entered the Felony Division. Jinny made her way to her desk, weaving in and out of the other inspectors who were busy with their various obligations. CD and Nate watched Jinny sit down at her desk, pick up her phone, then replace it harshly. )

I don't know what's going on! I'm beginning to think she likes you better since she responded to your sucking up tactics:confused:

The book has a few good suggestions: We need to find out what Michelle likes, find out what people close to Michelle like (I think that would mean her lovely daughter---who obviously takes after her mother), and be nothing but nice to her and completely swarm her with anything and everything she wants.

SO...I'm heading to the store to buy more stuff that I think she might like!

Meantime...

-ahem- Michelle, is there anything we could get you or your daughter? School supplies? Cliff notes? Anything? (I'm not sure if they hae cliff notes for preschoolers, but if they don't I'll write the book myself!) Just let us know...

Psssss, Lauren, any other suggestions?

Well, now I can't have you thinking I'd pick favorites, so, though it isn't much, here's what I have written......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(CD and Nate exchange looks, and CD ventures over to a depressed Magda.)
CD: Hey.
Magda: (downhearted) Hey, CD.
CD: What’s up?
Magda: Nothing. I’m okay. (looks at Jinny who has her back to her)
CD: You don’t look okay. You two fighting?
Magda: (shrugs) She’s just moody right now, you know. (thinking about what she just said) With the wedding and getting used to living with someone full time, you know.
CD: (nods) Well, I’m sure it’ll get better. You see what you have to look forward to when you and Gabe finally get married.
Magda: (nods to CD, but thinks to herself, if only she really knew)
(Magda sat down at her own desk and made a few phone calls herself. After a short time, Jinny comes over and sits on the edge of Magda’s desk, waiting for Magda to get off the phone. Magda quickly got off the phone and looked up at Jinny.)
Magda: Hey, Jin. Look, I’m…
Jinny: No, don’t apologize. You’re right, any other time, I would have probably kidded about that, but I don’t know what’s up with me. I owe you an apology, I’m sorry.
Magda: (smiles) That’s okay, Jinny, and I’m sorry; I should have never said that.
Jinny: It’s okay, Mag. I’m sorry.
Magda: Me, too. (smiling) You know, I’m gonna have to get used to these mood swings.
Jinny: Mood swings? I do not have mood swings. It’s you imagination.
Magda: (laughing) Oh, no. I did NOT just imagine that. That was a full fledged mood swing.
Jinny: (standing up, turning around to notice the Captain standing behind her) (jaw drops turns to give Magda a panicked stare, then back to the captain) Hey, Cap. What’s up?
Kate: (points a finger between the two) This conversation you’re having, is it something that I should be included in?
Jinny: (shaking her head, looking at Magda) Not… necessarily. (back to the captain, shaking her head) No.
Magda: (also shaking her head) No. Nothing you need to know about, just friendly teasing. That’s all.
Kate: Right. (not believing a minute of it) Jinny, can I (point back into her office) Can I see you a minute?
Jinny: Um, sure. (looks to Magda, panicking, but follows Kate)
Magda: (eyes wide, but smiling)
Kate: Close the door and sit down.
Jinny: (did as she was told; though you can tell she isn’t happy)
Kate: Are you feeling better? Still sick?
Jinny: No. No, I’m good. Great, really.
Kate: Oh? And how far along would you be?
Jinny: (struggled with whether to deny knowledge, or admit what the captain apparently already knew) What? Am I the only one that didn’t know?
Kate: I think you knew. You were just in denial. How far?
Jinny: I don’t know. Can’t be more than a month or so. I have an appointment in a couple weeks.
Kate: (nods)
Jinny: (stands to leave but turns back around) Look, Cap, I don’t want this getting out right now, so if you could just pretend like you don’t know or something…
Kate: I understand. I expect a full report when you go to the doctor.
Jinny : (sighs; nods)
Kate: How’d Mr. Blumenthal take it?
Jinny: Teddy? He was, (smiles as she recalls) He was happy.
Kate: I’m glad. I won’t restrict your duties right now; just watch yourself and don’t do anything stupid.
Jinny: (nods again) Thanks, Cap.
Kate: (nods) Sure. (as Jinny opens the door to leave) Just remember, I said for now.
Jinny: (pretends not to have heard)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You are all just the most wonderful-est peoples in whole world. Though I'm getting fat with all the bribery, lol, bear with me over the weekend, this is the last full-time weekend that I have to work, so while I may not post much, if any, I'm only working one night a week this month, so that means more in the long run for you all.

Hmmm...not off the top of my head. And it looks like she responded to your sucking up too!!!

Oh and so you no I would like MORE when you find the time in your busy schedule. Oh and thanks for all your help the last couple of days. I really appreciate it.....

:D YAY! *jumps for joy* It worked! It actually worked! That book for idiots isn't half bad! Of course it means I'm an idoit but that's an entirely different story...

ALSO, did you hear that Lauren? In the next couple of week we might get LOTS more, so we best be sucking up something fierce. You work on the chips and I'll go find some more ice cream to fatten her up with...not that you're fat or anything, Michelle:D

Oh yeah, and we'll just ignore that little thing about studying for now...kinda like Jinny did to Cap:p

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Magda watched Jinny exit the captain’s office with raised eyebrows. Magda smiled at Jinny, waiting for Jinny to tell her what that was all about. Jinny walked over and sat down on the corner of Magda’s desk, but was quiet for just a minute. Magda finally tired of waiting for Jinny to tell her.)
Magda: Well?
Jinny: Well, (shrugs) that’s one less person I have to worry about telling.
Magda: (sympathetic look) What’d she say?
Jinny: Not much. She, (making a face) graciously, (little laugh from Magda) won’t restrict my duties right now.
Magda: (smiles) Have you told anybody else?
Jinny: No. And I don’t plan on telling anybody else for a while.
Magda: Teddy’s mom seems really nice.
Jinny: Yeah, she is. But, I don’t want to be babied for nine months, and I know I’m going to get enough of that from Teddy. I just hope we survive the next nine months.
Magda: (smiling) You mean, you hope Teddy survives the next nine months.
Jinny: (says nothing as she smiles at Magda and heads towards her own desk)
(They soon parted ways and Jinny was home in just a few minutes, beating Teddy. She searched through the cabinets looking for something to cook and realized that she had nothing. She left Teddy a quick not and headed to the market. She was browsing through the produce aisle when she spied a very familiar suit. She made and effort to seemingly, unknowingly bump into the person and as he looked up, she smiled.)
Jinny: Hey stranger. Come here often?
Teddy: Hey. What are you doing here?
Jinny: I could ask you the same thing, seeing as how I left you a note telling you I was coming.
Teddy: I didn’t go home. Sorry. I just stopped off here on my way. I tried to call, but your phone was busy.
Jinny: Yeah. Magda called me. She wanted me to know she might not be at work in the morning. Ben’s sick, again.
Teddy: Again? Wasn’t he just sick…
Jinny: Yeah. She’s taking him to the hospital tonight. So, um, are you putting all this stuff back? Or are you putting everything in my buggy back?
Teddy: Me?
Jinny: (smiling) Yeah.
Teddy: Don’t you mean, you?
Jinny: Well, I figured since I went to all the trouble of gathering it up, the least you could do is put it back. (looking in his buggy; picking up a package) What’s this?
Teddy: Yogurt.
Jinny: Yogurt?
Teddy: Yes, (taking it, placing it back in the buggy) Yogurt. I thought that maybe, since you were, (shrug) you know, (low) pregnant, you’d want to eat a little more (low) healthier.
Jinny: Healthier? What? (picking up a package out of her own buggy) Chips and salsa aren’t healthy?
Teddy: (stuttering through) Well, I mean, if that’s what you want to eat (shrugs)…
Jinny: No. Really, Teddy, tell me…
Teddy: Jinny, come on, this isn’t the place to argue about this. Let’s just get a few things for dinner and we’ll…
Jinny: You know what, I just lost my appetite. Thanks.
(Jinny turned around, leaving the few things in her buggy, and left the market. Teddy watched her walk away, then turned back to his task of shopping, avoiding the stares of the few that witnessed their disagreement. All but one elderly gentleman, who watched Teddy; smiling. Teddy chose a few things from Jinny’s buggy, and left the remainder to be put away by the store personnel. As he started down an aisle, the elderly man spoke to Teddy.)
Man: Been married long son?
Teddy: (turned to him) Excuse me?
Man: She’s a ’bute. Been married long?
Teddy: About a month. And thank you, she is beautiful.
Man: She’ll be back to normal in a few months.
Teddy: (weak smile) How’d you know…
Man: Had me thirteen of ‘em, son. Man gets pretty good at telling when it’s comin’ on. Feller learns pretty quick when to speak and when to keep his trap shut.
Teddy: (nods; quiet) Thirteen?
Man: Don’t let anyone tell you thirteen is an unlucky number. Had me seven good strong, hard working sons, and six beautiful girls. Got me ‘bout thirty grandkids, now. Wouldn’t trade the world for a one of them.
Teddy: (smiles)
Man: Now, give me Saturn, too, and we’ll talk. (nudges Teddy with his shoulder as he laughs) You go on home to your little woman now, and make sure you take her that there bag of chips she’s a’cravin’ and you’ll be right back up there on the top of her list again.
Teddy: Thank you, sir. (shaking hands with the man)
Man: Anytime son. I’m here bout this time every Wednesday, if you be needing anything else.
Teddy: (laughs) I might just have to look you up again sometime.
Man: You do that, son. (watches Teddy walk away) You do that.
'Ages'...that's a good way to describe it.
I live in good ole Alabama where, well, I sit on a couch all day waiting for you to post more:p Many people started back today, believe it or not. Folks around here don't really believe in summer I guess, and it's not like we get any 'snow days' so heck, we near about go year round!
It was great as always. Loved the elderly wise man...wow, 13! Hmmm...hopefully you'll post more in this age cause it's REALLY good!
Pssssssss, Lauren, when you get back from your spazzotic daze and read her post, let me know. We gotta work on getting that car in red! I'll run to LOWE's and start looking for some red paint, it should be dry by morning!
Red is a very nice color, thank you Ewan'sMyMan. I'll e-mail you separately with the directions to my home, lol. Sorry I've made you all wait, here's more......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(When Teddy got home the apartment was empty, the note Jinny had left, still on the table. She had apparently not come home after their disagreement. He hated to think of it as an argument. He put away the groceries, leaving his peace offering on the table where Jinny was sure to find it. He sat at the table and read over some of information he had recorded for the case that was going to court the next day, and then retired to the bedroom, falling asleep before Jinny even came home.)

(Jinny opened the door to the apartment and threw her keys down, noisily on the roll top desk sitting by the door. She looked around for Teddy, but the lights were dim, and she knew she would find him in bed. She went to the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of water out of the refrigerator and turned to go to the living room when she saw her chips and salsa waiting for her on the table. She sat the water bottle down on the table and sat down, quiet. She suddenly couldn’t believe she been so stupid as to argue with him over something so simple. She knew he was only trying to take care of her. Trying to do what was best for her, and the baby. God, there was a word that was going to take some time to get used to.)

(Jinny abandoned the water and quickly showered, thoughts running through her head of the things she’d just witnessed. After she had left the market, she went to the hospital to check on Ben. Ben was a very sick little boy, and to watch him laying in a bed surrounded by white sheets had been hard for Jinny. Harder for Magda, especially since Gabe was out of town and not reachable. She watched, and held Ben’s hand while the doctor did a spinal tap on him. It was all Jinny could do not to protest herself. Causing a child that much pain, should be against the law, Jinny thought to herself.)

(She let the water run over her face, to hide the tears. Watching Magda, holding Ben, in tears herself was more than Jinny could take right now. She pictured herself there in a few years. In Magda’s place, holding her own little girl as she cried; begged for them to stop hurting her. What was a mother to do? She was supposed to be able to heal hurts, not allow them to make more. Jinny began to second guess being a mother, and was still in tears as she dried herself and dressed for bed. She didn’t want to wake Teddy with her crying, so she made her way, as quietly as she could back to the living room. She sat down on the couch, and stared at the wall, trying to keep from crying more.)

(Minutes later, Teddy came stumbling down the hallway and into the living room looking for Jinny. He noticed her tear streaked face and sat down beside her, staring off in the direction she was staring, for a few minutes. He looked at her only briefly, then took her hand in his, which she did not resist. After a few minutes, he put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer to him, wrapping both arms around her. She laid against his chest, tears starting to flow again.)

Teddy: I’m sorry about earlier.

Jinny: (shakes her head) Don’t be. I understand what you were trying to do.

Teddy: Well, I’m still sorry. Forgive me?

Jinny: (nods)

Teddy: What’s wrong?

Jinny: I went to the hospital when I left the market. To see Magda, and find out how Ben was.

Teddy: How is he?

Jinny: He’s so sick. He’s got a high temp, and he’s just hurting all over, and not real with it, you know.

Teddy: What are the doctors saying?

Jinny: Well, they think he might have meningitis, or something like that, and they just didn’t catch it the first two times he was sick.

Teddy: Oh. But that’s treatable right? I mean, with antibiotics and stuff?

Jinny: Yeah, I guess, but… (pauses)

Teddy: But what?

Jinny: They did this, this, spinal tap, where they stick a needle in your back and drain fluid to test it. Gabe wasn’t there, so Magda asked me to help her hold Ben. (pause, both quiet for a time) God, it was the worst thing.

Teddy: I’m sorry. But I’ll bet Magda is glad she didn’t have to do it alone. I’m sure she appreciated your help.

Jinny: It’s not that.

Teddy: Then what?

Jinny: People should hurt kids. It isn’t fair. They don’t understand why you have to hurt them to make the better. What if something happens? And we have to hurt our baby? Teddy, I won’t let them hurt her, Teddy. I can’t.

Teddy: Jinny. You’re jumping the gun a little, don’t you think? I mean, you’re not even two months pregnant yet. Come on.

Jinny: Yeah, but who’s to say she’ll be healthy? I mean, sick kids are born everyday. I just don’t think I could…

Teddy: (putting a finger to her lips) Jinny stop. Our baby, he or she or whatever, is going to be healthy, and happy.

Jinny: How do you know?

Teddy: Because we are. And you’re going to take care of yourself and go to the doctor, and do what the doctor tells you. And our baby will be fine.

Jinny: And if she’s not? Teddy, I just don’t know if I can do this. I don’t know if I’m ready for this…

Teddy: Yes, you are. You were great with Joy, Jinny. And you’ll be great with our little bundle of joy. I know it.

Jinny: (slight smile) I don’t know.

Teddy: I do. Take my word for it. Okay.

Jinny: Okay.

Teddy: (smiles finally) Come on, let’s go to bed.

(Jinny smiled and took Teddy’s hand as he helped her up. He hugged her for a time after she stood up. Jinny held on to Teddy tightly, not wanting to give him up for a second. He had already proven to be of great comfort to her. She could not remember a time in her life, since her mother died that she’d felt truly at peace. But right here, right now, she felt safe. She almost laughed at herself at her own expression. Safe. With a man who owned a weapon he probably had never shot more than once in his life. A small laugh did escape her lips, in the solitude of the night, for which she regretted.)

Teddy: What are you laughing at?

Jinny: Nothing. I’m sorry.

Teddy: No. Tell me. I’d like to know.

Jinny: No. I don’t think I need to add insult to injury. Contrary to what you may believe, I do know when to keep my mouth shut.

Teddy: Oh, you do?

Jinny: (smiling) I don’t generally practice that, but I do know when I should. And this is a time that I’m definitely safer keeping my mouth shut.

Sorry I haven't posted this weekend, but I was just having so much fun in that pretty, new, red car that I almost forgot all about you guys. Can you ever forgive me? Here's a little more to help persuade you.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: (smiling) I don’t generally practice that, but I do know when I should. And this is a time that I’m definitely safer keeping my mouth shut.
Teddy: I’ll consider that argument, when I make my final decision. Now, spill.
Jinny: No, thank you. I’ll plead the fifth.
Teddy: Doesn’t apply in this instance. See, they’ve recently amended the fifth to exclude personal family situations.
Jinny: Yeah? Why am I not aware of this again?
Teddy: (shrugs) Just didn’t seem pertinent until now. Come on…
Jinny: Okay. Do you still have your gun?
Teddy: Yeah.
Jinny: And what did you say it was? Again?
Teddy: It’s an Astra A50.
Jinny: (nods, slowly) Right.
Teddy: What?
Jinny: Nothing.
Teddy: (gives Jinny a sideways glance that says he knows there more going on in that head of hers)
Jinny: (sighs) It’s a toy. What say, I take you down to the range this weekend and introduce you to my friend. A real gun.
Teddy: (backs away from Jinny, far enough to be able to see her) A real gun?
Jinny: Yeah. We’ll take my service weapon, and my off-duty pistol, and we’ll go down and (raises and eyebrow, then winks) kill some time. (smiles)
Teddy: (smiles; shakes his head at her pun) I think I’ll stick with the Astra for the time being. But thanks.
Jinny: (nods; leading him back to the bedroom) I could, um, offer an incentive.
Teddy: Incentive?
Jinny: (nods; walking backwards to their room)
Teddy: I can’t out shoot you. I already know that. There’s no way.
Jinny: Incentives are meant for improvement. Not necessarily just for the winner.
Teddy: (bending down to kiss her; but she backs away more)
Jinny: (teasing; seductive) I just want to see how much of man you really are.
Teddy: (takes a deep breath) A good man is forged in the heat of the moment. Not with a piece of cold steal.
Jinny: (smiles) (raises an eyebrow) Wow. You already know how to talk the talk.
(Teddy pins Jinny’s back against the bedroom door as she paused and reached around behind her to open it. One hand pinned behind her, the other went up, around his neck, as he bent slightly to kiss her on the neck. A sigh escaped her as she released the tenseness she had built up on their way back to their room. She hadn’t realized that their talk had aroused her until that moment of release. She quickly found the handle to the door and they stumbled into the room. Teddy quickly caught himself and Jinny, as they both tumbled onto the bed, holding their breath.)
(Jinny wasted no time making her way up onto the bed, Teddy following closely behind, showering her upper body in kisses on their way. Jinny shed her freshly donned clothes and laid back as Teddy eased himself down on top of her. She was quick to wrap her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. Her eyes rolled back in her head and she could not contain her cries of pleasure as their lovemaking began and continued for several hours into the night. She lay in his arms afterwards; her euphoria so great she seemed to float above the bed instead of being on it.)
(This sense of euphoria is how she awoke several hours later; with the sun shining in her eyes, it gentle, warms fingers caressing her cheek. She had to squint to see Teddy standing in front of the window dressing for work.)
Jinny: Are you up early or am I late again?
Teddy: No. You’re fine. I was just getting ready to wake you. But you don’t have time for breakfast now.
Jinny: (moans softly) That’s okay. I’ll grab coffee at the station. I’ll be okay.
Teddy: Okay. I’m going. I have a hearing to attend this morning before I go to court.
Jinny: Okay. (kisses him as he leans over the bed) Good luck. (holds onto to his tie as he stands)
Teddy: Thanks. (readjusting his tie) Bye.
Jinny: Bye.
(She watches him leave before she finally drags herself out of bed. She was glad she’d taken the time to shower the night before. She was really in no mood to get up as it was. She pulled clothes out of her closet and threw them on, pulled her hair back into a ponytail and headed out the door. Half way down to her car, she decided she was really hungry, but didn’t want to take the time to run back upstairs, so she headed to work, barely making it in before the clock hit eight.)
(The first thing Jinny did when she got to her desk was call Magda. She got her answering machine and left no message. She called the hospital was quickly connected to a room. It rang several times before it was answered by a groggy little boy.)
Jinny: Ben? Hey, sweet boy. How are you doing? (pause) I’m sorry. Hey, where’s your mom? (pause) Okay. Well, tell her I called and to call me, okay? (pause) Okay. You get better, you hear me? (looks up as the captain walks in) Okay sweet boy, bye now.
Kate: Where’s Magda?
Jinny: Ben’s sick again. She took him to the ER last night. The admitted him but that’s all I know. I just called, but she’s down getting breakfast, Ben said. I told him to tell her to call.
Kate: He’s sick again?
Jinny: Yeah. Poor guy. He really sounds sick, too. I went by the hospital last night. (shakes her head, staring off, thinking) I helped Magda hold him while the did the spinal tap. (quiet; thinking)
Kate: (pats Jinny on the back as she goes to her office) He’ll be okay. In the meantime, why don’t you take Raina, and see what more you can find out from the possible suspects and witnesses.
Jinny: (turned quickly, intent on protesting the replacement, but Kate had already closed the door to her office)
Awww, don't cry. Come on, it's okay. I SAID SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!!! (lol) Here's more to make you feel better......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jinny: (turned quickly, intent on protesting the replacement, but Kate had already closed the door to her office) (to herself) Great. Thanks. I will.

(Jinny remained seated at her desk for several more minutes, having notice Raina was occupied with another task. She completed her paperwork and rose, walking over to Raina slowly. She stood quietly, waiting for Raina to look up. When she did not do so, Jinny cleared her throat, causing Raina to slowly look up.)

Jinny: Ben’s sick again, so Magda is with him. Let’s go. I have some kids to talk to again today. Cap wants you to tag along.

(Raina shoves a notebook in the book she was reading and rises to follow Jinny. In the locker room, Jinny checks her weapon to make sure it is completely loaded and that the safety is on. She then puts her wallet and notebook in the pocket of her jacket and slips it on. Raina watches her closely.)

Raina: You plan on using that today?

Jinny: What? My gun?

Raina: Yeah. You act like you might need it or something.

Jinny: (annoyed) You’re a police officer, Raina. There’s that remote possibility that you may need it at any moment during your day.

Raina: Yeah, but how often do you really use it?

Jinny: Enough that I want to know it’s going to work when I need it.

Raina: (eyes wide, she makes a face and turns away)

Jinny: (sees Raina roll her eyes and look away) Raina, like it or not, there are bad people out there, or we wouldn’t be here. This little guy, (patting her gun on her side) is the key to not only your own safety, but sometimes, to a lot of other people, too. And if you hesitate, your putting those lives in danger. Coming out of the academy, those paper targets are nothing to take down. You can take their heads off, and never have second thoughts about it. But the first time you see blood oozing out of a body, you just shot, it’s hard, I know. I’ve been there, Raina. I know what its like. We all do. The Captain, Nate, CD, Magda. All of us. It’s great to be able to talk your way out of a crisis, but it isn’t always going to work out that way, and you have to be ready intervene.

Raina: (quiet; letting things sink in)

Jinny: (standing up quickly) Let’s go.

(Jinny and Raina returned to the high school to find that the victim’s girlfriend was not in school that day, nor the following day when they returned again to question her. They secured her address from the principal and called for the captain’s approval for a search warrant for her home. When they arrived at the home, a middle-aged woman answered the door.)

Jinny: Mrs. George?

Lady: Yes?

Jinny: Mrs. George, I’m Inspector Blumenthal, this is my (pause) partner, Officer Washington, (shows badge), we’d like to speak with your daughter, Melissa.

Lady: Missy been sick the last couple of days. I’m sorry, but you’ll have to wait…

Jinny: That’s out of the question. Your daughter is a witness, and possibly a suspect in a murder case that we’re investigating. I’ll be speaking to her today. Thank you.

Lady: Murder? I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you’re talking about, and I think you have the wrong person. My daughter is just a child. She’d never get involved in something like that. (attempts to shut the door) Excuse me.

Jinny: (stops the door with her foot) I’m sorry, I’m not sure you understand. See, I have a warrant for your daughter’s arrest, and to search your house. If you impede this search, I have to right to take you into custody, as well. (holds up a paper) Your copy of the warrant, (pause) ma’am.

Lady: (takes the warrant from Jinny; doesn’t open the door any wider, but steps back to allow them to enter) Murder?

Raina: (sympathetic) Your lawyer and you are welcome to sit in on the questioning if you so choose.

Jinny: (from halfway up the staircase) Raina…

Raina: (follows after Jinny quickly)

(Jinny and Raina open the doors of two upstairs rooms before they find a locked door. Jinny puts her ear to a door and can hear a radio playing inside. She looks at Raina, who is standing on the other side of the door, and knocks. They pause, hearing the scuffling of feet inside as they come nearer. The door is unlocked and opened. When Melissa realizes who is standing before her, her face drops and she steps back a step.)

Jinny: Melissa. Inspector Blumenthal. (pointing to Raina) Officer Washington. We’ve been looking for you at school, but you haven’t been there.

Missy: I’ve been sick.

Jinny: Yeah, I’ve heard. We need to ask you some more questions.

Missy: (shaking slightly) I don’t know anything else. I told you. (nervous) Now, leave me alone. (in tears) Please.

Raina: Melissa, (entering the room as Missy back away) (trying to be reassuring) I know…

Jinny: Get your things.

Missy: What?

Jinny: Your things. We’re taking you to the station to ask you some questions. If you don’t want to cooperate here, you can meet your lawyer in the holding cell, and you can answer our questions there.

(Jinny brushes passed Raina and takes Missy by the arm, leading her out of her room and down the steps. Amidst protests by both Missy and her mother, Jinny takes Missy and places her in the back seat of her car. She turns and informs the mother that she can call her lawyer before she leaves for the station, or once they arrive, but that Missy will be going in alone and can be reacquainted with her later that evening. They return to the station and instruct an officer to take their charge to a holding cell, pending a meeting with her lawyer.)

Jinny: (to Raina once they were alone) What was that?

Raina: What was what?

Jinny: That friendly chat you tried to have with my suspect?

Raina: I was just trying to be friendly. She’s just a kid. She’s scared.

Jinny: She’s a murder suspect! She possibly committed a crime! Hello! If she did it once, it’s hard to tell what she’s capable of doing again. Sweet and innocent is the catch of the day. But you hook that fish, and see if it doesn’t fight for it’s life. Come on, Raina. Get with the program. What do they teach you? Never assume anything.

Raina: (at the same time as Jinny) Never assume anything. I know, but…

Jinny: No buts. Juvenile hall is full of sweet, innocent kids that have committed crimes.

Raina: (purses her lips, turns, and walks away)

Kate: (enters the locker room as Raina is leaving) (keeps her eye on the door, until it is completely closed; then back to Jinny) How’d it go?

Jinny: (looks at Kate)

Kate: That bad, huh? How’d Raina do?

Jinny: She tried to make polite conversation with my suspect.

Kate: So?

Jinny: (annoyed) I don’t make polite conversation with my suspects.

You guys are great when a person needs cheering up. I think I'll keep you around for a little longer... And I know what I need to do to keep you here. Here's more........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: She tried to make polite conversation with my suspect.
Kate: So?
Jinny: (annoyed) I don’t make polite conversation with my suspects.
Kate: Well, (shrugs) There’s more than one way to apprehend a suspect.
Jinny: Yes, there’s two ways. My way, and the wrong way.
Kate: But you ended up with the same results. Correct?
Jinny: (Shakes her head; shrugs) We have Melissa George in custody. Waiting for her parent’s and a lawyer. We have officers searching the house, and her room, but I doubt we’ll find anything, unless she was stupid enough to write something in her diary.
Kate: (shrugs) That’s what diaries are for, are they not? To write your deepest darkest secrets; that you wouldn’t tell anyone? I know there were a few things in mine I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to know about. Didn’t yours?
Jinny: (shakes her head) Never had a diary. (quiet for a minute) You have deep dark secrets that the press hasn’t gotten wind of yet?
Kate: I have plenty of secrets in my diary.
Jinny: (side ways glance; unbelief)
Kate: What? You don’t believe me?
Jinny: (innocent look; looks away)
Kate: (defensively) I’ll have you know that I was very defiant young lady.
Jinny: (smile) And how long ago was that? What did you do? Miss your eight o’clock curfew by five minutes?
Kate: (looks at Jinny curiously) What, Jinny? You don’t think I defied the laws of gravity even once in my day?
Jinny: (chooses to say nothing) (innocent look again)
Kate: (bragging) I got caught with a guy in my room once, when I was seventeen.
Jinny: (eyes wide in mock shock) Whoa. I got caught with a guy in my room when I was 13.
Kate: (truly shocked)
Jinny: (gives Kate a top THAT look)
Kate: (gets up and walks to the door, slowly; opens the door, walks part of the way out, then turns back) I got kicked out of my college dorm because they caught my boyfriend there after hours. (pauses, like she’s finished, turns back one more time) For the third time.
Jinny: (opens her mouth to speak)
Kate: (exits)
Jinny: (big grin)
(Jinny meets the Captain and Raina outside the holding cell where Melissa and her mother wait patiently for them, with their lawyer. They watch for a few minutes as the lawyer seems to be explaining something to the two ladies. His arms are resting on the table, his hands up. Occasionally, he makes a gesture with his hands, but in the end he nods at the glass, giving those on the outside of the glass a signal to let them know they are ready. As Jinny and Raina enter the room, the lawyer is speaking.)
Lawyer: It won’t be long now.
Jinny: Hey, Dan. Long time no see. Can’t say I had the opportunity to miss you, though.
Dan: Inspector Exstead. (looks at Raina) Another new partner, I see.
Jinny: (looks to Raina herself) Temporary. Officer Washington, (points to Dan) Dan Jenkins. (back to Dan) And it’s Blumenthal, now.
Dan: (smiles) I’ll make a mental note.
Jinny: (stares at him briefly) (talking to Dan, but staring at Missy) Your client is being charged with first degree murder. At the age of sixteen, she can be tried as an adult. I’ve spoken to the ADA, and we’re pushing for the maximum sentence.
Dan: Murder? (shakes his head) You have no proof that any crime has been committed by my client. And I am requesting that you release my client on those grounds.
Jinny: (looks at Dan briefly, but doesn’t speak to him) Missy. What were you guys doing on the railroad bridge that night? How did Jimmy get over the bridge to graffiti it?
Missy: I don’t know. If he did it, I wasn’t there.
Raina: Where were you?
Missy: What day?
Jinny: How about Wednesday, and Thursday for starters.
Missy: I went to church Wednesday, and then to Monica’s house. And Thursday, I went to cheerleading practice and then we went to Monica’s. (nervous, nods, looks up) So, I was at Monica’s house.
Jinny: Monica Bollinger?
Missy: (nods; quiet) Yes.
Raina: (watches Jinny)
Jinny: Yeah, well, see, we questioned Monica, too. And she says that she spent those two nights at your house.
Missy: (quickly looks down)
Jinny: See, so I’m having a hard time believing either of you. Care to try again?
Missy: (shakes her head) I’m not lying.
Jinny: Then perhaps you want to come up with a more believable story. Like the truth. Care to tell me how you got the body from where it fell, on dry land, all the way over to the swamp?
Dan: (to Missy) Don’t answer that. (to Jinny) This is preposterous. I want my client released, Exstead.
Raina: Why did you even kill him to start with?
Missy: (crying) We didn’t kill him.
Raina: Was it an accident? I mean, if you didn’t mean to kill him, that brings about a lesser sentence, than if it was premeditated.
Missy: (crying hysterically) We didn’t kill him.
Jinny: (looking at Raina for minute) Then tell us what happened to him. Because he’s dead, and some one is going down for his murder. I’m going to see to it they do.
Missy: (hands to head, then she pulls them away; screaming) He fell!! He fell, okay?! We tied a rope to his waist, and he fell.
Jinny: (over Missy’s cries) He fell or you dropped him?
Missy: Yes!!
Jinny: Yes, what?
Missy: (still loud, hysterical) Yes. That man, he came up behind us with a gun and he yelled at us, and the gun was pointing at us, and we let go of the rope, and we ran. (sobbing)
Raina: (calmly) What man?
Missy: (after a few minutes) Some man. I don’t know who.
Jinny: What’d he look like?
Missy: Tall, but that’s all I know. It was dark, and we ran.
Jinny: This is a great story, but, uh, (shakes her head) No one else is backing up this story.
Missy: (panicked) But, it’s true. I swear it. (looking at the lawyer) I swear it’s the truth. (back to Jinny) Just tell them I told the truth, and they’ll say it. They’ll say the same thing, I swear.
Jinny: Fine, we’ll ask. But we have to hold you until we contact them. I need the names of everyone else that was there that night. And I have to tell you that lying is a serious offense. Obstruction of justice, even more so. Truth or not, you won’t get off with no punishment.
Missy: (sniffs) It’s the truth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There you go all. Thanks for being faithful.

Kate: I have plenty of secrets in my diary.

Jinny: (side ways glance; unbelief)

Kate: What? You don’t believe me?

Jinny: (innocent look; looks away)

Kate: (defensively) I’ll have you know that I was very defiant young lady.

Jinny: (smile) And how long ago was that? What did you do? Miss your eight o’clock curfew by five minutes?

Kate: (looks at Jinny curiously) What, Jinny? You don’t think I defied the laws of gravity even once in my day?

Jinny: (chooses to say nothing) (innocent look again)

Kate: (bragging) I got caught with a guy in my room once, when I was seventeen.

Jinny: (eyes wide in mock shock) Whoa. I got caught with a guy in my room when I was 13.

Kate: (truly shocked)

Jinny: (gives Kate a top THAT look)

Kate: (gets up and walks to the door, slowly; opens the door, walks part of the way out, then turns back) I got kicked out of my college dorm because they caught my boyfriend there after hours. (pauses, like she’s finished, turns back one more time) For the third time.

Jinny: (nods) We’ll see.

(Jinny and Raina exited the holding cell with the list of names and instructed the officer waiting outside to take her to a cell. The mother followed her out, crying, begging the officer not to take her, then turning her attention to Jinny and Raina, begging them as well. Jinny nodded her head at another officer and he took the woman by the arm and led her away, still protesting. Jinny, Raina and the captain stood outside the door and watched mother and daughter being led in opposite directions. Once both were out of sight, Jinny sighed.)

Kate: What? You don’t believe her?

Jinny: How do we know they didn’t just get together and create a back up story?

Kate: You question them all separately. Make sure they all corroborate with each other. Magda called. Ben should be out of the hospital by Sunday. She’ll be back to work Monday. I think sitting in a cell over the weekend would do them all some good, don’t you think?

Jinny: No lawyer is going to allow that. And he’s right. We really don’t have the evidence to keep one of them. Let alone all of them.

Kate: Yeah, well. We’ll find a way around it. They’ll have no contact with her over the weekend, maybe they’ll get together and decide to tell the truth. Thinking maybe she did. We’ll just have to see come Monday. We’ll meet them at the school, pick them up as soon as they get in their first class.

Jinny: (as Kate is walking off) (to herself) I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Kate: (nor turning around) I heard that.

Jinny: (shakes her head)

Raina: (to Jinny) So, what are you doing this weekend?

Jinny: Anything I can get away with.

Raina: Dom has planned to take me on a trip. (pause) With his daughter.

Jinny: (turned to give Raina a shocked look) His daughter?

Raina: Yes, his daughter. (looking around to make sure no one was in ear shot) Can you believe he waited until we’d, well (hands gesture), you know. Before he told me he had a kid.

Jinny: (eyes wide, nods slowly) Somehow, I can believe that.

Raina: (quietly; as they are walking back to the station) Well, I mean, I can understand being insecure about telling someone you like that you have kids. But…

Jinny: (smiles) He loves you Raina.

Raina: (rolls her eyes)

Jinny: And you like him a lot, or you wouldn’t be so mad about it. Right?

Raina: (shrugs; not speaking)

Jinny: What’d I tell you?

Raina: (shrugs) Well…

Jinny: Go. Have fun. And if the kids a brat…

Raina: (inquisitive eyes)

Jinny: Well, (pause) Then you’re in trouble.

Raina: (smiles; sighs) Thanks, Jinny.

Jinny: (smiles) No problem. (see Teddy) Excuse me. I have, um, things to do.

Raina: (sees Teddy; nods) Right. Thanks. (waves at him from a distance)

Teddy: (waves at Raina then turns his attention back to Jinny who is now standing in front of him) Hey.

Jinny: Hey. How’d court go?

Teddy: (shrugs) Not bad.

Jinny: (raises her eyebrow)

Teddy: We lost.

Jinny: (winces) Sorry.

Teddy: Can’t win them all.

Jinny: (smiles)

Teddy: (arm around Jinny’s waist) I’ve decided to take you up on your offer.

Jinny: Oh, yeah?

Teddy: Sure. I’m willing to try new things. Just, um, be gentle.

Jinny: Great. (kisses him; runs her hand up his back slowly) And don't worry, I’ll go slow.

There you go. Welcome home, by the way.

Okay, okay, but all I have is just a little more, lol.............

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Teddy: (smiles) I need to go. I have a deposition to write before I get out of here.
Jinny: Okay. (kisses him again) I’m almost finished. I’ll probably make it home before you.
Teddy: Okay. See you at home. Don’t cook. We’ll go out.
Jinny: (quiet) Okay. Bye.
Teddy: Bye.
(Jinny was soon on her way home when she received a call from Magda, telling her that she would be back to work first thing Monday morning. Jinny filled Magda in on the goings on of the day and they discussed possible outcomes and solutions for the case. Jinny explained to Magda about how she had had to work with Raina, and though she was displeased with minor details, Raina had done well. She hung up, after speaking to Ben for a few minutes, and headed inside her apartment.)
(Jinny stood just inside her apartment for several minutes; looking around. When she had lived alone, she never thought about cleaning up. She put her things away when she was finished with them and thought little else about tidying up. But when she opened the door, the clothing strewn around the floor and the furniture from their late night escapades greeted her warmly. She sighed to herself as she pulled her own clothes off as she picked other up from around the room. She carried her armload of clothes back to her bedroom and continued to pick up clothes from there as well. She pulled out her laundry bag and began filling it. She stuffed it full and still had clothes waiting on her. She sighed and sat looking around her. Her love had grown these past few months, as had her laundry apparently. She smiled as she heard Teddy open the door, and left her silent audience to greet him, realizing as she stood, that she was still in her under things.)
Teddy: (smiling as he sees his wife coming down the hall) Hey. You know, I could get used to you being a house wife. How much maternity leave do you think you can get?
Jinny: Not funny.
Teddy: And what were you doing back there? Undressed? Alone? I hope.
Jinny: (not humored) Laundry.
Teddy: In the nude? And with what? We don’t have a washing machine. (pause) You know that new Maytag man is kinda cute. What? You have him hid back there somewhere?
Jinny: You know, if I want your lip, I’ll bite it. (leans forward to kiss him)
Teddy: (backs away, smiling) Mmmmmm… Blood. Another one of those challenging stains.
Jinny: (sighs, grimacing) Yeah, I also have the Brawny man back there, cause, he’s the quicker picker upper. So, uh, if you’re planning on taking advantage of me, you’d better make it quick.
Teddy: Oh, yeah?
Jinny: (turns and walks off down the hall way; turns back to look at him and continues on)
Teddy: (follows close behind, pulling at his tie)
Oh God- is algebra 2 that bad? I am taking it next semester. All my friends in that class are failing it! heehe
Our school is screwed up b/c this year they had the rising 9th graders who had taken algebra 1 in 8th take alebra 2 instead of geometry, so everyone is having a hard time with it.
I've only done Algebra2 for four days now, but I know it is going to be a challenge. Everyone who took it last year had warned me about it.
As for Geometry, it was really hard for me, but that's just me. My opinion is if that you are a visual, artistic person or if you don't have trouble using your imagination to see things, then you will do just find in Geometry.
Algebra2 is another story though...depends on what you think of math in general.
History *cringes* ick.
I hated history. Okay, I hated school in general, and now, I'm going back. Why I don't know, I must have had a brain infarct when I went and took that test.
But at least there is no History. Little English. Just lots of Anatomy and Physiology, and science stuffs. Which was yet another subject I HATED in school.
But I do get to learn about drugs. That's a plus. lol, j/k. And I get to learn how to give shots. So, um, I might be tempted to post, if I can get a victim, I mean a um, volunteer to let me practice on. And I don't mean practice giving them drugs, either! hehe. Anyone game?
