I sadly missed Manic Mansion but Robin Duke made me laugh when she played Shelley Winters on SNL. (Roseanne's grandmother who was the polar opposite of her daughter Bev.)

YES! On this show they EARNED their dramatic moments unlike Mad About You which I loved but poured them on WAY too much and thus diluted their impact on the viewer. Doug and Carrie BOTH vented their simmering frustration on annoying but lovable Arthur in "Foe Pa" and a few more. And Arthur vented dramatically too sometimes.

Doug could be incredibly picky with Carrie. Her weight gain, the people she worked with, her hair. her forehead, her botox. :D

As awkward as her pole dancing was she was still very sexy even in that context.

But yeah, I guess they were biased against Lou, well the author of the book was at least, they just went with what the book said for the movie.

Though they did have their differences, and even stopped being friends for a time, they were as close as brothers. They filmed 2 movies during the time they weren't speaking to each other, and they aren't portrayed as buds, and most of their routine was done with other people. Oddly enough both of the films: The Time Of Our Lives, and Little Giant I think are two of their best films. I think partly due to the fact the writers couldn't rely on the old A&C comedy routines that got recycled through out their movies.
Then when they finally split for good. Lou did one last movie, his only solo (The 50 Foot Bride Of Candy Rock) , he passed before it was released.:(
When It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World was being cast, Bud was approached to make an appearance. Bud said he couldn't do it without Lou.

Jerry played the moron of the duo, but in real life he was in charge, he set up all of the appearances, he made the deals, all that mattered to Dean was if there was a golf course close by. They were like brothers.

For today. Though they haven't done as much, but Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with their movies like Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, World's End, Paul, and going back their TV show Spaced.
Seth Rogen and James Franco are fun together. Also guys like Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Vince Vaughn all work together a lot.
But yeah, there really aren't comedy teams anymore.

Carrie wants to set Spence up with a shy girl named Jenny, and it is revealed that Spence is a 31 year old virgin. However, in a much later episode (at Doug, Danny and Spence's HS reunion), it is revealed that Spence lost his virginity as a teenager to the high school home ec. teacher with the limp.

James and Valentine are stage names, they decided to go by different last names to avoid confusion. Their real last name is Knipfing.
