It was fun, though the idea of a Groundhogs Day horror movie has been done before- Camp Slaughter from 2005 had modern day teens finding themselves in an early 80's summer camp that is stuck in a time loop where the day repeats itself.
Salvage from 2006, has a woman reliving the same day and being killed over and over.

This is definitely one of the most bizarre documentaries I've seen. New Zealand journalist David Farrier comes across "competitive tickling" videos online and is intrigued by the new sport.

He contacts the creator of the videos at Jane O’Brien Media for an interview and is declined w/ "we will not help a homosexual journalist." David then decides to look more into this company and the guys who participate in the videos.

Some of the guys interviewed said that they were given 1000s of dollars, concert tickets, free lodging.. for their participation in the tickling videos. They said that they were told it was an audition for some reality show or for "military research", and were harassed after they mentioned they wanted to quit doing it.

John Hawkes is the main reason to watch this for his performance as the paranoid young man.

Butch Patrick plays one of the Halloween house of horrors workers, his character is named Eddie, and of course a few references to The Munsters are made.

While technically a very fine film, with wonderful performances and incredible atmosphere (the period is captured very well), I found it depressing to the point of suffocation. I also had a TERRIBLE time understanding the accents; I am getting a bit older so I am sure my hearing isn't great, but wow, was that difficult!

I saw this movie before ! I agree with your review. Although I didn't dislike it, i was kind of disappointed , being I saw it in the theater and for the price of movies these days, this one would be better just to see at home .;) I found the movie very strange ,I guess I didn't quite really "get it' ? :confused: But yes it captured the time period well and I did get a kick out of Black Phillip the goat! He was the star of this movie IMO! ;)

Last night my daughter and I got to see a Tobe Hooper double-feature at the theater (The Academy, Portland OR). Texas Chainsaw Massacre seeing on the big screen for the first time was a great experience, and seeing Poltergeist again on the big screen was also great. Nice getting to experience these with my daughter.:)

I like ultra low budget underground films, but this one just didn't work. And reading reviews of the film we weren't the only ones to find the band scenes distracting because it was obvious the actresses didn't know how to play instruments.

Ha yeah. The film itself was made in 1983, but didn't get released until 1987. The first time I watched it was on VHS under the title Nightmare At Shadow Woods, which is the heavily edited version. The uncut version we watched on Blu Ray has the title 'Slasher'.
The film, whatever version, has never gotten good poster art.

It's a Wonderful Life(1946)- James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, Henry Travers, Beulah Bondi, ...

This film was everything I needed it to be. Laurie Metcalf is about to pick up an Oscar nomination.

New Kingdom era Princess Ahmanet is destined to take over the throne of Egypt until her father's new wife gives birth to a son. This enrages her and she summons the god Set who promises to help her if she can transfer his spirit into a mortal body.

Princess Ahmanet, in monstrous form, murders her family and attempts to sacrifice her lover to Set, but is stopped by her father's priests and is then mummified alive to be hidden away in darkness forever.

In present-day Iraq, a U.S. military sergeant who loots treasures from war-torn places unintentionally unearths Princess Ahmanet's tomb and releases the evil creature.




I didn't really care for this one. The humor in it just didn't work and they introduced Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde (Russell Crowe) as a character who searches the world to contain evil entities.

This film was made as an attempt to launch Universal's "Dark Universe" and its future is uncertain after The Mummy's disappointing critical/fan reception.

Oh Torgo! You crack me up!:lol: The only Christmas horror movie that I have that comes close to yours is "Home For The Holidays"(1972) which I will eventually get to! Merry Christmas!:santa: :wave:

If you haven't seen it yet, check out You Like My Moher (1972) though not made for TV, and not specifically set at Christmas, it has a great wintery-cold setting. And great performances from Patty Duke, and Richard Thomas as creepy Kenny. And also Sian Barbara Allen who played John Boy's love interest Jenny on The Waltons.
