Pavan 05-01-2009, 12:18 PM Please read the blog for the full story. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/05/tv-land-june-2009-has-roseanne.html So a few shows totally gone (Three's Company, Hogan's Heroes, Green Acres), a few shows heavily reduced (M*A*S*H, 3rd Rock) and one show returns from the dead (Scrubs). Sort of reduced is Brady Bunch. Beaver is renewed!
Wow, you were serious about Roseanne. I hope that ..... ahem, the program is reduced quickly (Scrubs).
Scrubs is back. Hm.....TheLink said even that it bombed. What's the point? And 3rd Rock was reduced, no surprise there, same for Cosby.
Hogan's Heroes and Green Acres GONE? Wow. I would like to at least see them in the morning or from 1-2pm. And they renewed Beaver! That makes me so happy.
They'll probably end up making changes, reducing the Roseanne and changing late-nights.
tvparadise 05-01-2009, 12:54 PM - Great that Beaver is staying. I think the day the Cleavers are gone is the day that TV Land is officially no longer TV Land. I wonder for how long they renewed it?
- It's a few months off, but I'm going to go a head and predict that Green Acres will not be renewed and The Jeffersons will.
- Wow that primetime schedule is a headache. I'm glad I just primarily watch Weekday and Saturday mornings.
- Too bad about Three's Company. I don't really watch it on TV Land since I have the DVDs, but I like to see it is still on the schedule! It seems it would go well at noon after the Norman Lear block.
Pavan 05-01-2009, 01:05 PM Primetime is utterly confusing indeed! They need to stick the one schedule. Have Andy Griffith from 7-9pm and Roseanne 9-11pm, and be done with it. And Roseanne 11pm-1am on most nights as well.
This would be better for weekdays and everything would be on but Star Trek and LHOTP (both on weekends):
9:00AM All in the Family
9:30AM Sanford and Son
10:00AM The Jeffersons
10:30AM Good Times
11:00AM Three's Company
11:30AM Brady Bunch
12:00PM Leave it to Beaver
12:30PM Green Acres
1:00PM Hogan's Heroes
1:30PM Beverly Hillbillies
2-5PM TV Land Goes West
5:00-6:00PM Beverly Hillbillies
6:00-8:00PM Andy Griffith Show
8:00-10:00PM Roseanne
10:00-11:00PM Cosby Show/Andy Griffith (rotating)
11:00-1:00AM Roseanne
1:00-2:00AM Cosby Show
2:00AM 3rd Rock from the Sun
2:30AM Scrubs
3:00AM M*A*S*H
3:30AM Sanford & Son
4:00AM The Jeffersons
4:30AM Good Times
5:00AM Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
I agree, that is a much better schedule. IMO they should do Beaver 5-6PM and Hogan's at 5:00AM and Green Acres at 5:30AM if they can't do that. Prime-time is a twisted, messy disaster. I'm sure that affects the ratings as well.
Pavan, just a question - what's with Scrubs coming back and at 3:30? That's pretty dumb since it can be seen at much better times on Comedy Central and WGN. I remember you said they would make it work no matter what...then it failed and they dumped it very fast. I think we've about seen the end of 3rd Rock, by it being pushed to the "dead" slot.
Also - you always said Three's Company was a success. What happened to it? Ratings?

Good grief... what a MESS that is.
and WHOA, what a LOT of Roseanne. I love the show and am glad it's back at better hours though.

I would love TC in the mornings or at least any time there is day light outside. I never quite understood why it never lasts anywhere outside of late night. I believe they tried to put it on in the early evenings, but that lasted a week or two. The last time I watched it regularly in the mornings was way back on TNN.
Pavan 05-01-2009, 03:03 PM Pavan, just a question - what's with Scrubs coming back and at 3:30? That's pretty dumb since it can be seen at much better times on Comedy Central and WGN. Scrubs is being shared with Comedy Central, so they didn't really "buy" it themselves, but they did want it to work. I think they need another show like that to make it work...it is too different from anything on TV Land. The same goes for EM: Home Edition.
Three's Company was always a big draw, but then the contract thing came up and they just left it on late nights...so I'm sure the ratings weren't too good then. I bet if they brought it back to primetime, it would do much better than most shows they air. It seems primetime is all about late 80s/90s now and Andy Griffith. Besides Cosby Show, the other stuff on TV Land PRIME has failed (Just Shoot Me, Scrubs, EM: Home Edition, etc). Not sure how the special airings of CSI and CSI NY did. They tried to plug The Jeffersons in PRIME on Thursdays and that didn't work. It seems to me they are trying to stay away from M*A*S*H in PRIME. I think Three's Company would be the only one to draw in prime outside of Andy Griffith, but I don't think they want to go that direction. It's all about 90s now in PRIME. In a few years Friends will be there.
I'm really surprised on weekdays, M*A*S*H is just 4am. No airings on Saturdays and only Sundays it has a decent slot of 9pm-12am.

PRIME seems to have been a failure but they are trying desperately to make it work. And killing the ratings for the whole channel in the process. I'm still not sure that Cosby was a big hit, seeing how it has been pushed back even later. They tried it from 8-9 and 12-1 and I don't think it lasted long. It's indisputable that they have high expectations for Roseanne....now, judging how Cosby did on NAN from 2002 until it was phased out, I thought it would be airing to death on TV Land - not so. That's what has me skeptical about Roseanne being such a smash. It did great for NAN from 2003 until it was pushed out by the newer shows (just like TCS)....and, IMO Cosby is even a better fit on TV Land than Roseanne. Can't imagine somebody staying over for Roseanne after Hillbillies and Andy. The whole thing is painful looking. That is just my comparison. Do you know how The Cosby Show did on TV Land?
If 8pm-1am/"prime time" was Andy, Good Times, Sanford and Son, Three's Company, and M*A*S*H, I'd bet a hundred bucks it'd do better. Ouch....Scrubs in to M*A*S*H - that hurts to even see on paper.
JulieSomoski 05-01-2009, 04:11 PM That's definitely a lot of Roseanne. I'm glad, though - I miss watching the show in primetime. If the schedule stays, whenever there's nothing on, I can just turn to TV Lnd for Roseanne. I bet its hours will be reduced slightly, though, but judging from how the show has done in the past, it could be the show to make PRIME a hit.
Julie - that's Roseanne heaven for a fan. I've never seen a show launch with so many timeslots! I agree that it will have to be reduced at some point...that's just too extravagant.
Aaron, we're talking about Scrubs on TV Land, lol.....it's already on Comedy Central multiple times..
JulieSomoski 05-01-2009, 05:02 PM It definitely is. I'm guessing most of its old NAN fans will follow it back over to TV Land, especially if they cross promote it. Really, all these slots look like a launch kind of thing. I think we'll see it reduced and settled into a more permanent slot by July.
TVFactFan 05-01-2009, 05:12 PM F*cking Diisgrace
Cosby Show is replaced by this stupid A$$ Roseanne and now no more Jeffersons at 3am since it's now pushed ton 5am and Three's Company is gone for some silly sh*T.
June is a f*cked up month for programming.
Did they cross-promote Cosby's move to TV Land on NAN? We all know it wasn't that great performance-wise on TV Land.
Since TCS (which fits better on TV Land than Roseanne, IMO) didn't become a smash like it was on NAN, I don't expect the same for Roseanne. I am just thinking this logically and trying to be impartial...JMO.
Roseanne should be airing an hour then encore an hour later on in the night. Then, if it is a success, increase the airings.
Pavan 05-01-2009, 05:31 PM Cosby Show has done decent on TV Land.
TVFactFan 05-01-2009, 05:35 PM Cosby Show has done decent on TV Land.
Then why is it being replaced by Roseanne?
Pavan 05-01-2009, 05:38 PM Cosby Show has more airings in June than it has in May. Just time shifting. In May it is airing 14 times a week: 1-2am weeknights (10 airings a week) and Tuesdays 10pm-12am (4 airings a week). In June it is airing 18 times a week, so it is more! 2-3am weeknights (10 airings a week) and Wednesdays 11pm-1am (4 airings a week) plus the added Saturdays 11pm-1am (4 airings a week). Don't see how Roseanne is replacing it?
TVFactFan 05-01-2009, 05:41 PM Cosby Show has more airings in June than it has in May. Just time shifting.
But if a show is performing in a certain time slot then it should be ABOVE being MOVED to another slot.
Pavan 05-01-2009, 05:46 PM Cosby Show never had a set timeslot. It has aired different places all over the schedule and has done decent everywhere. So why complain now? Look at my previous post...it's not much of a change. And we get 4 more airings!

I know I was just praying that Roseanne would be before 9pm or after 3am and it's right there at 11pm to 1am to make me ILL

Are you going to post a N@N June thread? Maybe that will make me feel a little better. I wanna believe Roseanne will decrease on N@N since it's dominating the schedule on TV LAND.
Pavan 05-01-2009, 06:04 PM Nick at Nite June has not been released yet. I will OF COURSE post it. Have I ever missed a month? In May on Nick at Nite Roseanne is only airing late nights on weekends. I would expect that would continue in June, but we'll see.
I added a night-by-night look for weeknight primetime in my previous post, to make it even more clearer. Take a look Solomon.

I saw it and the schedule looks like a "Ingrown toenail"
Brent88 05-01-2009, 06:34 PM Wow Tuesdays will have Roseanne from 8pm-2am non-stop.
Will some of those be encores?
and N@N June probably won't be out until after some of The Nanny's ratings come in. That'll be a big decider on how the schedule changes(if it doe).
Pavan 05-01-2009, 06:43 PM Yes, there will be encores every night basically. 40 total airings on weeknights for Roseanne (counting encores)! And I'm not counting weekends. Counting weekends, we get 52 total for a week! That's 26 hours of Roseanne per week, once again counting encores.
JulieSomoski 05-01-2009, 07:00 PM I have to admit, looking at those schedules, that's a WHOLE lot of Roseanne - Tuesday nights, its airing about 20 times alone-lol. This could be like make it or break it for PRIME. They're obviously counting on it to do well.
Pavan 05-01-2009, 07:05 PM 12 times in a row on Tuesday.
JulieSomoski 05-01-2009, 07:19 PM 12 times in a row on Tuesday.
That's still a lot. And 26 hours a week? That's more than ION programs total ;)

I love the show and all but that's just too much.
That is too much Roseanne. Period. I would say that about even my most favorite show ever if it was airing that much. Thanks for the breakdown, pb.
With that marathon, then all of those airings, it's insanity. They are obviously counting on Roseanne to help pick the network up -- it shows how desperate they are. However, I don't see ANY show doing well enough to air that much. They better be on their nervous little knees praying that Roseanne meets or exceeds their obviously high expectations. If it doesn't, they should just as well drop PRIME and replace it with TAGS, 3's Co., M*A*S*H, and Good Times/Sanford and Son. I mean PRIME is basically all Andy Griffith as it is right now.
TV Land has shown classic TV for so long that Scrubs/Extreme Makeover/JSM/3rd Rock/Roseanne etc just don't seem like they fit. The average viewer does not expect that after seeing Andy Griffith and the like for so many years. It's shocking to an average viewer. NAN was more gradual with this...TV Land is going way too fast.
And please, take notice that I do not mean this as a slam to Roseanne or the fans at ALL. If you like her, that's fine with me. Just using some insight. :D

The sad thing is, if Roseanne does do very well for them, they'd probably make the entire schedule Roseanne. i definitely wouldn't count it out, knowing TV Land.

I know. They're pretty desperate....but at least they only have rights from 6am-6pm. Then again I thought Cosby would take over when it came (remember when it came to NAN?) but it is airing very modestly....actually not as well as I would have expected.

Shame the takeover never happened
While we are all going on about how odd TV Land is, why the heck do they keep Home Makeover? It has obviously been a disappointment and it's airing to death on CMT. It totally interrupts the flow of the schedule. IMO, Hogan's Heroes, Leave it to Beaver, or Green Acres should get that hour, transitioning in to the afternoon Hillbillies and westerns.
EM: HE was originally acquired for TV Land but it seems it should have originally been for CMT
SpenceOlchin 05-01-2009, 09:27 PM Its nice to see Roseanne back during normal hours. Hope it does well for them. Beaver being renewed is excellent news for me, but I wish they would've kept Green Acres and Three's Company on the schedule. In the case of Green Acres I've especially enjoyed the afternoon/early evening airings.

I think TV Land would benefit by airing Leave it to Beaver on The weekends not during the week.

The people at the TV Land board are lunatics-lol. Seriously, I was once a regular. I haven't stepped foot over there in at least 3 months. People go out of control over there. It's a cluttered mess.

LOL - well, as far as I've seen, you're a very good ranter. Some of those people just go ballistic ove there. But I guess with the stupid things TV Land does, I don't blame them.
bliggenstrauff 05-02-2009, 07:08 AM I'm seriously ticked off at TV Land and its awful schedule. It's really how Nick at nite used to be, way overshowing everything. There are plenty of shows that aren't being shown at all that could be put on overnight when no one's watching anyway just so they're on so we can tape. And the last straw is removing Three's Company and Hogan's Heroes. Oh yeah, they got 26 hours to show Roseanne, but they can't spare a half hour overnight for either one of them? Give me a break

You don't have to be too upset about Three's Company since it's complete on DVD

Remember fans of the shows that are going on hiatus....they could always come back at any time. I remember thinking Green Acres was dead towards the end of last year when they removed it entirely, then it came back to afternoons in January and has lasted 5 months. That's not bad.
Here's what I would do for prime-time/evenings. I would dump "PRIME" and do it this way, as much as I hate it, bring back those dang marathons and re-work evenings to suit. Sort of the summer marathon idea again. At least it was more consistent. They could still get TAGS and Roseanne (especially) in good doses but more variety, at least a bit.

Your schedule is worst than TV LAND.
Why does TV Land keep repeating episodes? They were showing color TAGS a little bit last week, now back to the middle of the B&W ones and I am seeing the same ones 2 nights in a row. What gives? I notice the same Cosby episodes airing from 11pm-12am are airing from 1am-2am (2 parters).
No wonder things are so bad over there....
Pavan 05-06-2009, 05:39 PM TV LAND HEATS UP THE SUMMER WITH THE PREMIERES OF EXCITING NEW ORIGINALS SERIES, THE LAUNCH OF “ROSEANNE,” AN UNFORGETTABLE AFI TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL DOUGLAS AND HIT MOVIES BEGINNING IN JUNE ON TV LAND PRIME
“She’s Got The Look,” “Make My Day” and the Highly-Anticipated Joan Rivers Series “How’d You Get So Rich?” Set to Premiere
Los Angeles May 6, 2009 – TV Land’s got a scorching summer schedule kicking off this June that includes the premiere of three original reality series, an exciting celebrity-filled tribute to Michael Douglas as this year’s recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award, blockbuster movies and the addition of “Roseanne” – all premiering in TV Land Prime, the network’s new primetime programming block designed to appeal to the attitudes, life stage and interests of people in their 40s.
The network’s summer schedule kicks off on June 5th with a week-long launch event of the hilarious sitcom “Roseanne” starring Roseanne Barr. Then, on June 11th, a new season of the TV Land hit “She’s Got the Look” -- a reality show modeling competition searching for the next great supermodel over the age of 35 -- kicks off. On July 19th TV Land will air a special presentation of the AFI Life Achievement Award honoring celebrated actor Michael Douglas. And on August 12th, TV Land premieres two brand new original series back-to-back with “How’d You Get So Rich?” -- starring Joan Rivers -- and the hidden camera show “Make My Day.” TV Land’s signature Friday night “PRIME Movie” block will continue to air star-powered movies all summer long.
Below is a detailed look at TV Land’s summer programming:
ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING:
“SHE’S GOT THE LOOK”
THURSDAY, JUNE 11th AT 9 PM ET/PT
TV Land’s successful reality series “She’s Got The Look” returns for a second season as ten new finalists – all over the age of 35 – compete to become the next great supermodel. The series, which is hosted by Kim Alexis, is a collaboration with Wilhelmina Models Inc., and sets out to discover a sophisticated, beautiful and confident woman over the age of 35 destined to become the next “it” girl of the fashion industry. In addition to a contract with Wilhelmina Models Inc., and a photo spread in SELF magazine, this season’s winner will also receive a check for $100,000. Supermodel Beverly Johnson, who made history as the first African American model to appear on the cover of American Vogue, celebrity stylist Robert Verdi and Wilhelmina president Sean Patterson are all featured as judges on the series. Guest appearances this season include Rachel Hunter, Beth (Ostrosky) Stern and Frederique.
“HOW’D YOU GET SO RICH”
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12th AT 10 PM, ET/PT
Notoriously uncensored gossip diva Joan Rivers stars in TV Land PRIME’s new original reality series, “How’d You Get So Rich?” Executive produced by Mark Burnett (“Survivor,” “The Apprentice”) and Zoo Productions, Inc., Joan Rivers takes TV Land viewers on an escapist tour of the most lavish and extravagant homes and introduces them to folks who made a lot of money in really interesting ways -- – the way only Joan can.
“MAKE MY DAY”
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12th AT 10:30PM ET/PT
This comedic hidden-camera series provides a window into one day in the life of an unsuspecting participant. Tune in as cameras capture the action as they experience weird coincidences, extraordinary situations and surprise celebrity appearances for one whole day. “Make My Day” is a 30-minute series produced for TV Land by Embassy Row (“Power of Ten” and “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”), Monkey Kingdom and Sony Pictures Television. Michael Davies serves as the executive producer.
SPECIAL PRESENTATION:
“TV LAND PRIME PRESENTS THE AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD”
SUNDAY, JULY 19th, 9 PM ET/PT
TV Land will air the American Film Institute’s (AFI) Life Achievement Award tribute --the highest honor for a career in film – to Michael Douglas on July 19th. It was previously announced that AFI and TV Land signed a multi-year agreement for the annual salute. The gala tribute will be taped in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 11th, 2009. Every year this prestigious honor is presented to a single honoree. The first recipient of this award John Ford is joined by a list of highly respected recipients that include Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, Sean Connery, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Barbara Streisand and Harrison Ford.
ACQUISITION:
“ROSEANNE”
LAUNCH WEEK: FRIDAY, JUNE 5TH – FRIDAY, JUNE 12th AT 8PM ET/PT
One of the highest rated shows in America from 1989 to 1990 “Roseanne” was a sitcom that portrayed an American working class family struggling to get by in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois. The popular series focuses on the life of Roseanne Conner, a blue-collar working mother with a big mouth, big sense of humor and an even bigger personality. Roseanne not only tends to her home, takes care of her three kids -- Becky, Darlene and D.J. -- (Lecy Goranson and later Sarah Chalke; Sarah Gilbert and Michael Fishman) she also takes care of husband Dan (John Goodman) who was also her high school sweetheart. She does all of this – in addition to working eight-hour days -- to ensure all the bills are paid.
MOVIES:
“PRIME MOVIE BLOCK”
EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT AT 10PM ET/PT
Hit movies that our viewers love are airing every Friday night on TV Land. The movie block line-up includes “Born on the 4th July,” “Back to School,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Another 48 Hours” and “Doc Hollywood.”

Current schedule resumes Monday...what the?
Roseanne is launching already? Huh?
BTW: I hope TV Land doesn't destroy the end credits... I was watching The Jeffersons last night and noticed they make their own credits now, but Roseanne almost always had funny scenes over the credits.
Whoops, sorry Brent...I noticed I put that in the wrong thread and deleted it.
I don't get it either. Maybe a preview? But it seems that would be a set time, not all over the place. Their desperation becomes more obvious every week.

That's just it. They're desperate. Theyre expecting Roseanne to be big, and they want some of those ratings now.
They better not crunch those credits, though. Roseanne's tag scenes were the best.

It is kind of creative though because it doesn't shrink the scene.

Glad the Roseanne marathon is still on.

So Married With Children is gone and more Roseanne in July. Great. TV land is wa f*cking disgrace.

Glad the Roseanne marathon is still on.

I think MWC is gone because it's apparently coming back to Spike in June(they are weird with the show disappearing for weeks and then coming back).
Andy Griffith and Roseanne have the same amount of airings from what I can see
So will Wednesdays be off the clock and Thursdays on the clock when SGTL starts?
Hallelujah that MWC is gone.
I disagree that it's not as erratic...it's different, but still all over the place.
Pavan 05-22-2009, 03:03 PM Married with Children had to be taken out because of She's Got the Look coming to Thursdays. Roseanne is a better lead-in and lead-out for that. As for Spike, they will continue to have CSI and CSI NY in the daytime for all of June, too, which means MWC is just weekend mornings on Spike for the month. I think it did decent on TV Land, so I wouldn't be surprised if it comes back quickly.
Off the clock will be the same as it is now. Only one BH is listed in the 6pm hour and one Roseanne is listed in the 12am hour. On the clock will only be Thursday nights it seems in primetime, because of She's Got the Look. Wednesdays will be off the clock now since there are no originals, just an encore of She's Got the Look (but I bet that will be on the clock). Cosby Show is listed just once in the 12am hour on Wednesday nights.
Weekends will be on the clock I guess.

That's dumb. They paid $12 million for the rights and don't even air it regularly. CSI and CSI: NY all day, *barf* Oh well, I just got into the show and TBS treats it much much better even though it airs at 5-6am in the morning. They don't even cut the credits on all but the last episode of the block(which is usually airs 3 or 4).
Oh and several times last night during the marathon it said "catch MWC Weekdays at 9am on Spike" FAIL

Not well enough of course because they would have found room for MWC on the schedule if it did as well as Roseanne
Pavan 05-22-2009, 03:49 PM I don't think TV Land can air it much right now, because of Spike. I'm sure they'll work something out soon.

I wish Spike can air the show at a normal viewing time, damm
Can they not have ONE primetime schedule (with the exception of Thursdays)? It is ridiculously confusing, especially with the off the clock times. No doubt that it is ruining their ratings. Everything from 8PM-3AM is a total mess and disaster.
I wonder if the Roseanne marathon will be off the clock?
And someone said Roseanne was getting special treatment more than/like TAGS....I think that's how they usually treat a new show. They seem to be trying to find something to beat TAGS so it can move out of prime-time. IMO this whole "PRIME" idea has made the network even messier

That was me who mentioned the special treatment, I have not seen any other sitcom have the closing credts shown in full on TV Land this entire year
That's because Roseanne has scenes over the closing credits. IIRC, Cosby Show had heavy doses this past fall/winter but was eventually whittled down to just 2-3AM now, they go overboard with every new show lately. They're desperate

Unless they've changed it, it won't be. The episodes are posted on the read-only schedule board and they will be on time(every episode reairs later in the night), plus SGTL is on that Thursday.
and I also agree, this whole PRIME idea and off the clock is a big disaster. I absolutely cannot stand it. The commercial breaks are ridiculous for shows where it happens.
I don't see any way TV Land could cut the credits for Roseanne just because of the long scenes(if they did most of the episodes would be down to 17-18 minutes) but if they ever did I will never watch it again. It's bad enough everything else they do but you can't cut those scenes out.
and I really wish they'd get just ONE primetime schedule, but the problem is they pretty much only have three shows in the evening, LOL, and only two shows in primetime(which I consider to be 8-11 like the networks).
I guess they could do this
7-9 Andy Griffith
9-11 Roseanne
11-1 Cosby
1-3 Roseanne
and the rest of the schedule could still stay intact.
I totally agree with that Brent. That schedule isn't bad, but I wonder if ratings for The Cosby Show are good enough to air it in those times? Outside of the marathon it gets in prime-time, it's pretty much a graveyard show these days.
Another thing, obviously they are wanting Roseanne to do well. If it doesn't do what they are expecting (what can they expect airing it like they are?), I wonder what their next step will be? Remember M*A*S*H did very well and could, as a last resort, come back to primetime I guess. I think Roseanne will do well enough to stay in primetime, but the way it's being aired so sporadically and off the clock, they'll probably say it didn't do what they were expecting. No show can succeed like this! And they probably wouldn't have the brains to know why.
Brent88 05-24-2009, 12:32 AM The Roseanne marathon will be off the clock. I give up.
and on Saturday June 6 at 9:30 there's now a "She's Got the Look preview"(which is an encore) in the middle of the "marathon". Lame.

JulieSomoski 05-24-2009, 12:55 AM And um....isn't SGTL sort of opposite of Roseanne?? lol
Yes
Yes
LOL!! I still think Roseanne is a weird lead-in for that show. Then again, I don't think SGTL belongs on TV Land anyway.
I wonder how TV Land's ratings are. The Link never knows, he's always saying "I haven't checked that information" or "I don't have that information." LOL. If Roseanne doesn't work well for them I honestly don't know what they will do. We think it's bad now, who knows what they're capable of

That's why the Link is starting to look fraudulent because if he is paid to communicate with TV Land viewers about programming and ratings then I want to hear better responses than
"I don't know" or I don't have that info"
Well I think the ratings are really bad (can we find them anywhere?) and he doesn't want to admit it.

Well, Roseanne's at least a better lead-in than The Andy Griffith Show-lol.
I'd like to see some TV Land ratings as well. If Roseanne can't do well on TV Land when it did well on NAN for so many years, that's obviously a sign that TV Land is doing something wrong. Where should we begin?-lol

Well, for one, the off-the-clock times, pre-emptions and stranded marathons in the middle of the night don't help. IMO, ANY show starting on ANY network needs to be at a set time so it can get a viewership base on the network on which it is airing. If they want to air Roseanne, it should be 9-10pm and 12-1am. End of story. 5 days a week at least. Get your %#$%#! schedule straight. I get Roseanne on a local every day for an hour in the mornings. I mean if you don't know when a show is airing each day and it doesn't start at an expected time, why would you deal with it and put up with 12 minutes of commercials for each show? Look at TAGS. It's always on around 8pm, never pre-empted. That's one reason why it does well. I know when a show I like airs on a network, I expect to see it at the same time every night.
Also Roseanne is.....'different' from their other shows. While I realize they must evolve at some point (IMO, they evolved too fast and skipped the late 70s/80s entirely), keep in mind this is a network that (usually) most of the day is based on Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, M*A*S*H, Leave it to Beaver, Hogan's Heroes, Sanford and Son, etc. reruns. Sort of a change of pace. NAN evolved much more slowly. THEY ARE TRYING TO BE EVERYTHING TO EVERYBODY....IT'S NOT WORKING!!! (I'm not yelling at you all, I'm yelling at TV Land, lol!) I think that is one reason why most of the newer shows have failed on there like Scrubs, MAY, Just Shoot Me, 3rd Rock, etc. Cosby Show "fits" more than the others, IMO, so I don't think it's a big deal.
I could see marathons nightly from 9-11pm coming back soon if things don't go well. TAGS 7-9p, marathons in the middle, then Roseanne or M*A*S*H 11-1a. Maybe both. That has always been their quick fix when primetime isn't working. Sorry for rambling....I'll shush now.

Well, I think our job here is done ;)
Seriously, I think you pretty much said everything. They have a lot of problems, and unfortunately, they fix their problems with even more problems. The entire network is like a tangled web of problems that they can never get out of.

:clap
Until they stop the off the clock programming and get a steady schedule they will never do well no matter what show airs where. I laughed last night when I saw a promo for Roseanne "Weeknights at 9", ummmm Monday is a weeknight and it's not on then. I don't care if they have a different schedule on weekends(N@N does too), but the weeknights have to be the same.

Weeknights at 9? They'd be better by just saying "Roseanne . . . on TV Land." More people would probably find it that way ;)
lol, thanks  I get in a ranty mood sometimes! Which is somewhat frequent these days lol
Now they're saying "Roseanne, weeknights at 9" and have a banner right after it saying "TAGS marathon, Mondays at 7" like Brent said....lol, what a disaster. It got really bad when PRIME started. Anybody want to bet if Green Acres and Jeffersons are cut when they expire in August?
TVFactFan 05-24-2009, 11:32 PM lol, thanks  I get in a ranty mood sometimes! Which is somewhat frequent these days lol

I think the only reason TV Land would keep the Jeffersons after August is because they know it's on another network-TV ONE. If the Jeffersons were not on another cable channel I bet TV Land would get rid of it. That's probably why they got rid of Green Acres because it's not showing anywhere else
tvparadise 05-25-2009, 12:37 AM MY guesses:
Jeffersons- renewed
Green Acres- expires (will maybe come back for a few final weekend airings before 9/1/09)
I'm just going to forget TV Land exists between 9pm - 1am on the weekdays (not that I necessarily watch at all of the other times) because it is just too confusing with the different shows/different nights, off the clock.
So Beaver is just 12pm - 1pm Saturdays now, instead of 12pm - 2pm- with Andy Griffith now in the 1pm hour?

I don't think Jeffersons or Acres will be renewed. I don't think they have the money to go renewing a show that isn't airing (Acres, but it has a strange way of bouncing back from not airing to like 5PM). Jeffersons is a 50/50 to me, but it obviously was a disappointment. Remember they downright terminated a lot of contracts earlier this year and have let a lot expire, so I wouldn't be surprised if both go. They renewed Beaver because it can always come back to afternoons/evenings and do decent if need be I think.
TVFactFan 05-25-2009, 01:57 PM The last time they got rid of the Jeffersons was December of 2002 and it reappeared on the network 4 years later
Does anyone else find it interesting that PRIME wasn't expanded outside of 12AM? Most of Roseanne's airings are, in fact, outside of it. I thought that it was going to be mostly a PRIME show? Personally I see no point in that concept. It's failed and makes more confusion. They go back to (what I call) "regular" TV Land around 12:17 every night before the 2 Roseannes. Roseanne's really the only PRIME show they have....I don't think TCS is really considered a PRIME show anymore. It's more of a "crossover."
I am seeing no promotion for Roseanne or a marathon. I see more MWC promotion which is leaving. Last night during TAGS I saw that stupid "weeknights at 9" thing
tvparadise 05-27-2009, 12:00 AM Yes, it is pretty screwed up branding. They want to brand Roseanne and The Cosby Show as part of "PRIME", however every night in the 12am hour the regular TV Land logo returns, which does nothing to promote the build the concept or branding of "PRIME" and also throws off what regular "TV Land" is to some degree.
It is not consistent at all. When they show encores of The Cougar or the PRIME movie outside of the PRIME hours they will use the PRIME logo, however when Extreme Makeover: HE airs at 12pm weekdays, the regular TV Land logo is used. It may not be the PRIME hours and that show may not ever air during those hours again, but it is part of the idea that they are trying to succeed with the PRIME name and does not go with the daytime other programming. It's fine if they want to show it there (I hate it personally), but don't put the same banner on it that's being put on Good Times and The Beverly Hillbillies!
If you're gonna have two names, make them distinctive! Otherwise just call it TV Land all day or change the name of the channel to PRIME (what will probably happen one day).

They need to just drop the PRIME thing. It's a joke. Especially when they have to have Andy Griffith airing in it to keep the ratings even presentable.
Anyway, why is EM:HE even airing on TV Land anymore? It's on CMT like 3 times every afternoon/evening. That 12pm hour could go to Hogan's Heroes or Leave it to Beaver.
Pavan 05-27-2009, 01:04 AM If they want to do PRIME, then fine but these off-the-clock and shows airing out of PRIME is crazy.

Pavan, I like that. Unfortunately, I doubt they have enough sense to do anything close to that.
Do you know if they have some must-carry with EM:HE or something? I don't get why they are airing it, especially in between Good Times and Hillbillies. Obviously it didn't work. Last time I saw it was doing much better (likely under the same contract) at CMT, airing a ton in the afternoon/evening.
Pavan 05-27-2009, 01:50 PM AMERICA’S FAVORITE DOMESTIC GODDESS “ROSEANNE”
JOINS TV LAND’S LINE-UP ON JUNE 5th
TV Land PRIME to Showcase Roseanne’s Hilarious Perspective on the Economy With a Marathon of Recession-Themed Episodes
Los Angeles, CA, May 27, 2009 -- The Emmy® award-winning series, “Roseanne,” comes to TV Land with a week-long marathon of raucous recession-themed episodes starting Friday, June 5th through Friday, June 12th from 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. ET/PT. The series will air regularly on TV Land Monday through Friday from 12 a.m. -1 a.m. ET/PT and from 9 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET/PT in TV Land PRIME, the network’s primetime programming block designed to appeal to the attitudes, life stage and interests of people in their 40s. Extended viewing blocks will also air weekly on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
“Roseanne’s take on life is timeless and hilarious. The show remains so relevant and relatable to us some 20 years after its premiere,” stated Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. “’Roseanne’ is a quintessential American television treasure that serves up more reality than some reality shows on TV today.”
Loosely based on the real life stories of comedienne Roseanne Barr, the award-winning sitcom focuses on the life of Roseanne Conner, a blue-collar working mother with a big mouth, big sense of humor and an even bigger personality. Roseanne not only tends to her home and takes care of her three kids -- Becky, Darlene and D.J. -- (Alicia Goranson and later Sarah Chalke; Sarah Gilbert and Michael Fishman), she also takes care of husband Dan (John Goodman) who was her high school sweetheart all while holding down a full-time job and trying to keep her family afloat.
Other regulars on the hit show throughout its run were: Jackie Harris (Laurie Metcalf), Roseanne’s younger sister who eventually became a cop; Crystal Anderson (Natalie West), Roseanne’s best friend who later married Dan’s father Ed (Ned Beatty) and became her mother-in-law; Becky’s husband, Mark (Glen Quinn), and David (Johnny Galecki) who the Conner family allowed to move into their home after he and daughter Darlene dated. Darlene and David were later married. Over the nine year run, the show had many guest appearances including: George Clooney as Booker, the foreman at the factory Jackie and Roseanne worked at and Jackie’s love interest for the first season; Martin Mull as Leon Carp, Roseanne’s boss at the diner she later worked at and finally the late Estelle Parsons as Bev, Roseanne and Jackie’s meddling mother.

Now see, this is a great schedule. Anything that is STEADY and on the clock is better than what they have now. Why is it so hard for TV Land to figure that out?

FAIL! It's already been on TV Land 2 weeks.
and it doesn't air from 9-10 and 12-1, it airs from 9 to 10:06 and 12:18 to 1:24.

I don't see how Roseanne is having a premiere week on TVLand when it PREMIERED on TV Land a few weeks ago....
Does TV Land now have a shared deal with Married...with Children, or was the marathon last week a one-time-only ["PRIME"] stunt?
LMAO!!! Roseanne "JOINS" TV Land? It's already airing to death! Larry Jones is a airhead. He's the one that ruined the network. 1) it's not joining. It's already airing! 2) It does NOT air every weeknight and 3) it does not air at 12:00AM and 12:30AM. That is too long for a marathon of anything. It should have been last week.
MWC is borrowed from sister network Spike.
I see this marathon being like a swamp. I'm not necessarily referring to the show, but the way it's going to be....it's off the clock, so the further in to the night, deeper and deeper, the times get more off and it gets messier.

Well they did the same with The Jeffersons in 2006(launched in Mid-August then had a huge 72-hour Labor Day marathon a couple of weeks later), but it's still weird. It wasn't airing 500 times a week like Roseanne either.
MWC is just being borrowed from Spike(which is also owned by Viacom) who paid $12 million for the rights but doesn't even air it regularly.
Buffyboy323 05-27-2009, 06:51 PM I don't watch TV Land, but the only shows I would watch from this whole mess are All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Roseanne, The Cosby Show, and Star Trek.
I figured Third Rock from the Sun and Scrubs wouldn't last long. And since when does TV Land show three hours of paid programming a day, or at all?
TVFactFan 05-27-2009, 07:57 PM Looks like I won't be watching TV Land this summer
bliggenstrauff 05-27-2009, 11:20 PM At least Three's Company and Hogan's Heroes are staying. I'm still ticked off about 3rd Rock but I got some dvds of that. I've also got some dvds of Three's Company but it's always good to see it on tv

It don't matter I still can't see it since it comes on at 4am
JulieSomoski 05-28-2009, 12:03 AM I guess since that huge Roseanne "launch" marathon is still going on, it must be doing well so far, or else TV Land would have shortned it or not aired it at all.
But yeah, this off the clock needs to stop. It's very, very annoying.
Cheryl Harrell 05-28-2009, 05:50 AM I agree that Larry Jones is an airhead. So glad to see Scrubs gone. I have never watched it and don't ever plan to. Rosanne fits better on Nick At Nite & so does Married With Children. Wish they'd see that & put them there & give us more old shows. It used to be TVLAND was the only good thing on. Now when they're playing junk, there's nothing to watch...
bliggenstrauff 05-28-2009, 02:44 PM It don't matter I still can't see it since it comes on at 4am
Yeah I tape it every time actually. And so far that hasn't been off the clock but that could get in the way of taping other stuff

Pavan, if I can ask, exactly what do you think they're doing? I just don't understand the logic. I'm not really shocked, but I was surprised. There are a few shockers in this one. Not big on the dramas starting on :30s.
I think this is the real PRIME test. Like I said in another thread, this is a very good schedule for what PRIME is all about.
Pavan 05-30-2009, 01:00 AM Not sure what to think of it. Let's see if this is for all of June first. As of now this is just for weeks of June 1 and 8. When do the times go off the clock right now, because it seems it will go off the clock starting 11:30am this Monday, seems even earlier. Wednesday primetime will be on the clock this week because of the Cougar finale/She's Got the Look preview. So we get "three" episodes actually of Married from 12-1:30a instead of just "two." And I told you all MWC did well and knew they would bring it back someway. I think they just needed to ask Spike.
Last minute changes are not done yet...Hallmark is next.
TVFactFan 05-30-2009, 01:05 AM Why is ROSEANNE always in between the shows I LIKE???????????????????????????????????
It's sandwiched in between Married With Children and Three's Company. Why cant it be Before MWC or After Three's Company

Off the clock has been starting at 3PM lately I believe, break from 7pm-9:30PM then again from 9:30PM-3AM, I believe.
They've been starting Hillbillies at 6:24PM or so lately. What a mess.
Pavan 05-30-2009, 01:53 AM If my memory serves correct, they can't air Little House before 6pm (since Hallmark has the rights during the day from 6a-6p), so there is no way it will start at 5:30pm! If they do, that is a breach of contract! But I'm sure it will start like 6:06 or something strange like that.
You know, you're right. If it is indeed to air at 5:30PM, the way off the clock goes it would probably be 5:46PM or so. TV Land is 6PM-6AM with LHOTP. I wonder if 8PM-9:30PM will be off the clock now? Little House would run in to Andy Griffith, which would run in to Cosby show.... they have been picky about TAGS being off the clock. So I'm starting to wonder if 7PM-9:30PM will go off the clock as well now.
The more I think about it, this schedule is weird. Seems like a placeholder, at least to me.
robyrob 05-30-2009, 09:29 AM i've been enjoying MWC but i can not STAND this stupid "off the clock" crap - why can't TVLand figure out how to do it properly?
when I record any of the episodes it truncates the front and back of each episode, If I record "off the clock" programming on most other networks (except ABC - they are horrible for this too) the DVR "knows" that it is off the clock and records the entire episode.
tvparadise 05-30-2009, 11:14 AM I kind of like the direction they are going with this "temporary schedule" but I'd like to see everything back ON the clock and a few slight changes....
I think Three's Company would work well at 1am, leading out of Married with Children. And I agree with you 60s70s80stvfan that M*A*S*H would be good in the 8pm hour- putting the 2 big non-PRIME shows (TAGS and M*A*S*H) on right before PRIME officially starts at 9pm.
It would be nice to see this:
1pm- Hogan's Heroes
1:30p- The Beverly Hillbillies
2p/3p- Gunsmoke
4p/5p- Bonanza
6p- Little House on the Prairie (if this does not work, put Leave it to Beaver x2 here)
7p/7:30p- The Andy Griffith Show
8/8:30p- M*A*S*H (The Cosby Show on Fridays)
9/9:30p- The Cosby Show (Rosanne on Fridays)
10p - 12am- Roseanne (2 hours because of origianls, movies- would rarely actually air for 2 hours)
12a/12:30a- Married...with Children
1a/1:30a- Three's Company
2a/2:30a- Roseanne
3a/3:30a- Married...with Children
4a/4:30a- The Cosby Show
5a/5:30a- M*A*S*H
SATURDAYS:
6a- Movie
8a- She's Got the Look (no need for 2 episodes of this, who are they MTV?)
9am - 11am- The Brady Bunch
11a - 1pm- Leave it to Beaver
1p - 2pm- Andy Griffith
Some where during the weekend....
Blocks of Norman Lear shows (AITF, S&S, Jeffersons, Good Times). These shows need to air somewhere besides only weekday mornings (not including overnight encores).
tvparadise 05-30-2009, 11:27 AM tvland.com says there will be Married...with Children marathons on June 13/14.
Pavan 05-30-2009, 11:30 AM when I record any of the episodes it truncates the front and back of each episode, If I record "off the clock" programming on most other networks (except ABC - they are horrible for this too) the DVR "knows" that it is off the clock and records the entire episode.
You're comparing ABC's 10pm off-the-clock to TV Land's full schedule off-the-clock? That is a terrible comparison. ABC only does it to boost the 10pm shows and they are only off the clock for 1 or 2 minutes at 10pm! And the DVRs and on-screen listings know it. I know because I DVR a lot of ABC 10pm shows and I have never ever had anything cut off or start not on time. If you're going to complain about network TV going off-the-clock without notice, blame Fox. American Idol went 5-7 minutes over every time this year without notice! I never saw Dancing with the Stars go overtime without notice...
Anyway, back to TV Land. Just had to say that was not a good comparison whatsoever. TV Land is doing this for MORE commercials, not to boost shows. There is a difference and TV Land is sleazy because they even have Paid Programming.
Brent88 05-30-2009, 01:29 PM tvland.com says there will be Married...with Children marathons on June 13/14.
Where did you see that? I only see out to June 6th(though it'll update out through the 13th tonight), and the read-only schedule board is totally useless and hasn't been updated in a month.
Oh and comparing TV Land's off the clock to ABC? There is NO comparison. Like Pav said, compare it to Idol which drove me crazy with it's horrible unplanned overruns this past season.
I find it ridiculous that TV Land is airing paid programming to begin with, but also to do this, it's nonsense.

Clearly, they are trying to move away from Andy Griffith. It won't be airing at all on that weekend. I wonder if it's a MWC launch? They are such a disaster. I bet the schedule will be changed after the Roseanne marathon. FWIW, remember they can't air MWC between 2am-7am (TBS has rights then).
Oh, Hallmark was off the clock the other night, but that was because a movie ended early at 10:45. But it was on the :15s and :45s, however and my guide listed it as "The Golden Girls (11:45PM-12:15AM)"....TV Land doesn't even do that. They are nothing but garbage.

I don't know why I bother, it probably won't even happen considering it's 2 weeks away.
Can't they stick with a schedule for a whole WEEK? Is that too much to ask?
Pavan 05-30-2009, 04:14 PM TV Land sent out the Married...with Children marathon press packet this morning, so that is now confirmed (why didn't they send it yesterday with the other changes is beyond me). Everything after June 14 is still TBD, though (but I don't think we will have any other marathons on weekends after MWC). TBS has the late night rights, so that's why MWC stops at a certain point.

That makes sense anyway because who really watches a marathon between 2am and am in the morning
Pavan 05-30-2009, 04:28 PM TBS only has the rights to 2am-7am, while Spike/TV Land could air it between 7am-2am.

I think they're still trying to find one that works!
I feel TV Land has a lot of great shows (much better than Hallmark and WGN in my opinion- haven't quite understood the hype with those personally). Their problem is just how they are airing them.
I think with Roseanne, MWC, and Cosby- PRIME could start to be big- IF THEY HAVE A CLEAR SCHEDULE.
With those shows, it's kind of like Nick at Nite back around late 03 except MWC, instead of Full House (in my eyes- that's a plus). Of course MWC being on the regular line-up isn't exactly official. Many look at it as being bad for TV Land to have former Nick at Nite shows- but isn't that how it's always kind of been?
PRIME can cover the late 80s/early 90s shows that Nick at Nite is getting finished with (Roseanne, Cosby, probably Home Improvement soon). Nick at Nite is moving on to late 90s/00s (George Lopez, Everybody Hates Chris, That 70s Show). There are some Nick at Nite shows like Full House, Fresh Prince, and Family Matters that won't go to TV Land---TV Land is more adult. Bottom line is- there is a reason the same shows go from being on TBS to Nick at Nite to TV Land- they're hits! And fortunately or unfortunately (depending on how you look at it)- 10 years from now, it's still going to be the same shows from the 70s (or whatever decade) that are airing and not different ones.
I know many hate the idea of MWC being on TV Land, but to me it's a good thing. I've always looked at TV Land as being a celebration of great television from yester-year (50s - 00s). It's just all about which shows. Scrubs, 3rd Rock, and Just Shoot Me aren't exactly the titles that Roseanne and Married with Children are. Some say TV Land kind of skipped the 80s. The thing there is that there are very few 80s shows that have stood the test of time and garner necessary ratings today (mainly just Cosby, Golden Girls, and Cheers). They've done Cheers, they're doing Cosby and Golden Girls has always been somewhere else. So Roseanne and etc.. is where to go next after Three's Company and The Jeffersons. At the same time fewer and fewer shows from the 50s-70s continue to stand the test of time each decade.
I think eventually Andy Griffith will be gone from prime time, they just haven't brought in anything that can do better. I don't know about movies and originals on TV Land, but I think eventually they'll have PRIME made up of hit shows from the 90s onward and shows like Andy Griffith, Bonanza, M*A*S*H and a few others will dominate the daytime schedule.
This is insane. There's no other word to describe it. Do they literally pull these ideas out of their asses and make a schedule out of it? There are schedule changes every 2 or 3 days it seems now. Why can't they just stick to a permanent schedule?
I know. I don't even bother to watch because even reading all of these posts because it is still confusing. And the off-the-clock is enough for me. I totally agree Julie, that looks like where these schedules are coming from. I bet this one will only last this week and change after the Roseanne marathon. Bonanza one weekend....Married With Children the next....what are they wanting? What are they after? The ratings are tumbling and they are desperate!
And WTF, why renew Beaver? It's not even airing. And it's one of their higher rated shows.

That's what they do with shows that they renew- put them on hiatus, weekends only, ONCE a weekday at best...
Examples:
- All in the Family
- Three's Company
- Sanford and Son

I just don't understand the changes. What's wrong? I'm assuming it's the ratings, but what's bringing them down? A weak show? Scheduling? Maybe they're doing this in hopes to find out.
IMO, TBS should have jumped on Married With Children and gotten rights first instead of Spike. It would fit very well there daytime/afternoon.

I think the biggest problem is that they have a different schedule every night and change it every week with no notice. It took almost a week for the online TV listings on sites like TV Guide and Zap2it to even show Roseanne as airing! It's a confusing mess, and I don't think the off the clock helps at all.
BTW, despite the horrible timeslots(I know they can't help it), but I'm preferring MWC on TBS, they don't cut the credits at the end and of course they air it for 30 minutes rather than 35 minutes and don't have insanely long commercial breaks. TBS is also flying through the series, airing 20-25 different episodes a week(will be airing the pilot on June 12th).
Speaking of that, last night, the first episode of Roseanne at 9pm, EIGHT minutes of commercials in the first 12 minutes of the show. Theme song, a 5-minute break, then about 4 minutes of show before another commercial. Who in the world would stick around to watch that other than diehard fans? It's no wonder they are struggling.

That's a good question. I don't even think they know what they want. They clearly want high ratings, but with all these schedule changes, how can any casual viewer know what to watch, when to watch it? They expect higher ratings, but they can't keep a schedule for longer than 2 weeks.

I know. They picked the WORST time to start off-the-clock with these 2 new shows (or at least one, Roseanne) launching. Jeez, I don't know how any viewer could stand it. I'm not a Roseanne fan, but even if I were obsessed with it, I think I'd have a hard time watching it like it is on TV Land
TBS usually treats their shows very well. MWC would be a good show for them to air, I think....too bad they don't have the daytime rights. So off-the-clock is at 9PM weekdays now?? I thought it started with the 9:30 Roseanne running until 10:07 or so.
TVFactFan 05-30-2009, 09:39 PM I wish TBS aired MWC at 8pm and House of Payne at 6am in the morning

They seem to be wanting better ratings but everything they do is just making them worse! Now it looks like they are indeed going off the clock at 11:30am. Since it started at 9 last night, it'll probably start at 9 next week, knowing how they operate.
I seriously wonder what the programming department is thinking. I think they've lost it. I can't imagine even crafting a schedule like this, much less changing it constantly. Just watch, it'll be different after the Roseanne marathon. This is the sloppiest network I've ever seen.

benjamoon 06-01-2009, 07:11 PM hahaha tv land is such a mess
it's so sad considering what it once was
ultimateggfan 06-01-2009, 07:58 PM I'm going to be blunt: TV Land stinks. Whatever happened to them airing more classic shows? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're airing Roseanne and some of the other shows. But they used to air short-lived shows like "Tabitha" and "Carol Burnett and Friends." The off the clock thing drives me up the wall. I can't even watch the channel anymore, and I used to love it! (I'm 20, by the way.) Also, what is the big idea behind recutting the shows so that there is a commercial break every five minutes? Why not go to commercial during the original act break and then at the end of the show before the credits roll? Also, roll the friggin' credits without interruption; you'd think that in syndication, with the three minutes edited out for more commercials, that the network would have more time for their own ads. Jeesh!
TheLink says they continue "tinkering" with the schedule and he expects more changes coming in the next few weeks.

It's sad. I tried to watch Bonanza this afternoon but those commercial breaks are unbearable.
Monday, June 15th must still be TBD, as it is the same as the last schedule (so this apparently means it will be changing, if not before):
http://www.tvland.com/schedule/index.jhtml?anyday=1&show=%23&day=20090615
Here's what The Link said in response to a question about LITB (regarding the tinkering):
I do not know. There is a lot of tinkering with the schedule going on right now and I expect to see a lot of changes over the course of the next few weeks. If Leave It to Beaver does not return to the schedule on a regular basis by July, please contact me again and I'll see if I can look into the situation further.

LOL, if you had read this thread you'd know. You even know about the marathon June 13th-14th. (which came out after they radically changed the schedule and added tonight's marathon).
I've been watching and didn't realize how much different the show was early on. Not as good IMO.

Spike to add Home Improvement.
Nick adds The Brady Bunch.
TV Land to air MTV's Date My Mom, Vh1's Rock of Love, Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants and Comedy Central's South Park!
Cheryl Harrell 06-02-2009, 03:05 AM Whatever happened to them airing more classic shows? The off the clock thing drives me up the wall.
I agree with ya. I can't stand the off the clock thing! And they need to dumper the newer stuff and go back to the old stuff. Rosanne's good but she belongs on Nick At Nite...
As many know, The N is becoming TEENick....so I say That 70s Show moves to Nick at Nite. Fresh Prince stays on The N only. That's one.
Roseanne airs on Spike? M*A*S*H on Spike? MWC on TV Land exclusively (well that's pretty much the case)? CSI on TV Land? SBTB on NAN? Extreme Makeover on Spike? The possiblilties...

I think That 70's Show would still fit in with TEENick, I think they are really just changing their name, not so much the programming. But it is coming to Nick-at-Nite and later TV Land at some point. Great fit for Nick-at-Nite, but I can't see it fitting in on TV Land at all.
I would doubt Spike would show Roseanne and Extreme Makeover. Those shows have pretty large female fanbases. Spike, while no longer "The First Network For Men", still targets males primarily.
I do wonder about SBTB on Nick-at-Nite?

I don't see The N (or TEENick, whatever they want to call themselves) letting go of That 70s Show at all. They depend on it way too much in primetime, and if they dropped it, I think they'd only replace it with more What I Like About You.
I see Home Improvement spending some time on TV Land. Have they tried that before?

Home Improvement was supposed to come in January but they changed their minds. It still seems to have a purpose on NAN so I don't know if they would do that just yet. NAN and The N both depended on FPoBA for a couple years, so I don't guess That 70s Show being on NAN would mean the end of it on The N. Fresh Prince could leave NAN.
Expanding NAN and giving it the 8-9pm hour would be nice and add SBTB.
tvparadise 06-02-2009, 11:21 AM I don't think "Home Improvement" is far off on TV Land. With "Everybody Hates Chris" coming this fall to Nick-at-Nite, HI could get the boot from primetime unless "The Nanny" starts to drop in ratings.
Pavan 06-02-2009, 12:04 PM Here it is...two former TV Land shows join other Viacom networks:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/06/just-shoot-me-joins-comedy-central.html
You know, I had put JSM down as maybe moving to Comedy Central in a previous post but changed my mind, I thought it may be too old for them. I wonder if 3rd Rock From the Sun will go there eventually.
At least it's not other Viacom shows coming to TV Land.
tvparadise 06-02-2009, 12:51 PM I think 3rd Rock could make its way back to the TV Land schedule. It clearly wasn't the disaster that Scrubs and Just Shoot Me were for them. I'm not sure 3rd Rock would really fit on their other channels (Nick-at-Nite would probably be the best fit). 3rd Rock or Just Shoot Me don't really seem right for Comedy Central (doesn't really align with the kind of humor on there).
Hopefully Scrubs and JSM will just stay off TV Land. I like JSM pretty well, but neither of these ever made any sense on there. "The Boomers love them" TheLink used to always say.

Yeah, you're right. As for 3rd Rock - it could always come back at a morning timeslot or graveyard (like Night Court, Mad About You, Wings) but I doubt it will be at a decent time if so. I still don't think it, Scrubs, or JSM should have ever aired on TV Land in the first place. There are a lot of networks that have shows I enjoy, but I necessarily don't think they should be airing there.
Pavan, I have a question - can they still swap with The Program Exchange? JSM and 3rd Rock are both PE shows, I would just swap them for something else and try it (like they did with Benson/227 for Munsters/Addams Family several years ago). I don't think any of their shows (http://www.programexchange.com/programs.asp?category=2) are contracted except for a few that WGN has.
Pavan 06-02-2009, 03:02 PM The swapping was very rare. That only has happened once ever.
Scoobiedoo30 06-02-2009, 03:10 PM when did TV Land Swap Benson and 227 for The Munsters and The Adam's Family.
The swapping was very rare. That only has happened once ever.OK. That was early 2007.
TV Land STILL hasn't updated their schedule page for the week of the 15th, lol. And the message boards still don't have the updated grids. I still see this: http://www.tvland.com/schedule/index.jhtml?anyday=1&show=%23&day=20090615
Pavan 06-02-2009, 05:37 PM They haven't released anything new for June 15 and on yet, as soon as they do, I'll post it.
OK. No use releasing it I guess because it would just change again before it went into effect.
How is off the clock going? I don't really like any of the shows they have at night so I haven't really paid attention. When's it stopping and starting? I'm pretty sure it's running from 1PM-7PM with the dramas, not sure afterwards.
Pavan 06-03-2009, 01:24 AM M*A*S*H started at 1:22AM. I actually watched TV Land tonight for a few, saw a few Married...with Children episodes.
Brent88 06-03-2009, 03:36 AM OK. No use releasing it I guess because it would just change again before it went into effect.

7-9 is on the clock, and then off the clock starts again at 9 and runs until around 2:30, at least that's how it's been the first two nights(tomorrow night primetime is on the clock with the Cougar finale).

OK. I wonder why they bother to stop that from 7-9? The only thing I can guess is so they can promote Roseanne at 9pm and it starts at that time.

After a slow start I'm finally seeing a ton of Roseanne promos, probably because it's on at the same time on weeknights now. They are also promoting the week long marathon a lot with the "Roseanne recession recovery plan" which I find pretty fitting considering the current economy and perhaps it's a subtle message about the state of TV Land.
Speaking of promos, I can't wait for the Cougar to be over tonight. Every single commercial break last night was a promo for the finale. :barf:
Just a heads-up for TAGS and Roseanne fans...TAGS will be on the clock this weekend, but Roseanne off the clock, here is the grid:

Geez, it took long enough to update that. I knew that already, lol.
That SGTL preview in the middle of the marathon Saturday annoys me. How can it be a marathon with that?
RobbieG 06-03-2009, 07:12 PM Since Little House is airing in a large slot from (roughly) 5:30 to 8 as was mentioned in the blog--is TV Land airing the episodes uncut now, or are there just many more commercials?
I don't know why TV Land does this erratic scheduling--aging fans of classic TV like me would prefer more reliable schedules, with shows airing at the same time every day. I don't have a Tivo and don't feel I should have to get one just because the networks are doing crazy scheduling. I wonder what goes through a programming executive's mind when they think these erratic schedules are a good idea. My opinion: it's difficult to develop viewer loyalty when the viewer can't figure out when a show is on, or they constantly have to check web schedules and cable guides. Many fans of classic TV are older with families and busy schedules, and they would watch if they could settle into a pattern that fit into their schedule, but many of them are too busy to check web and cable guide schedules on a daily basis.
I miss the way TV Land did its schedules in its early years--a show aired at the same time every weekday. And the weekend schedules were more consistent, too. Sigh. :(
Robbie
While the viewers are slightly up, their rank in primetime keeps falling. They were #27 last week....sad that they were in cable top 10 primetime in 1999!
Brent88 06-03-2009, 11:25 PM Ugh, 11:30 Roseanne starts at 11:23. WTF is going on over there?! The Cougar was over before 11 I noticed also.

LOL - I didn't even know Roseanne was on at 11pm. I watched at 9, then turned off for The Cougar. What was airing at 11pm then?
Did the SGTL preview not air? It appears off-the-clock is 7 days a week now.
Look how botched up the Roseanne marathon is with the SGTL airings!

Brent88 06-03-2009, 11:56 PM Yes, it was on at 10:55 when I flipped by.
MWC is on at 11:55. They can't even be on the clock one night.
MWC marathon episodes, the half-hour on the 13th missing is at 10:30am, but on the 14th it's at 7:30pm. MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!

I wonder how many MWCs will air tonight? 2?
Pavan 06-04-2009, 12:27 AM 3 tonight for MWC.
3 tonight for MWC.
Yeah, I figured because the second one started at 12:27. Why not re-arrange the commercials so it could start at 12:30 at least? lol. This night has been one of the most confusing ever!

I don't get it at all. But I don't get much about TV Land right now, so eh. I'm more annoyed at tonight though since it was SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE CLOCK. I don't get why The Cougar ended early either. I actually flipped by at 10:55 to see who she picked(LOL) and it was already over.

I don't watch Little House but I watch Roseanne and MWC(and track other shows late at night) which are also off the clock and it's nothing but more commercials. The shows still run 21 minutes so Little House is the same way I'm sure(only 42 minutes for an hour-long). They run for 33-34 minutes when off the clock so I'm guessing 66-68 minutes for Little House.
I find it very annoying and totally pointless.
Pavan 06-04-2009, 02:01 AM More commercials. Just exactly when does LHOTP begin on TV Land (since the timings are way off)? They are NOT allowed to air it before 6pm, as they have rights from like 6pm-6am, but I'm sure the stupid timings have it past 5:30 anyway.
Pavan 06-04-2009, 02:11 AM I was watching MWC again tonight, and was thinking The Simpsons is still not on cable and would go well with MWC on TV Land. TV Land needs something big like that, that would give them ratings and buzz. They need more of a balanced schedule. How about something like this, with off-the-clock and paid programming gone:
6am-9am TV Land Goes West: Little House/Gunsmoke/Bonanza
9am-12pm '70s sitcoms: All in the Family, Sanford & Son, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Three's Company, Brady Bunch
12pm-2pm 50s/60s sitcoms: Leave it to Beaver, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith
2pm-5pm TV Land Goes West: Gunsmoke and Bonanza 2x
5-7pm Classic Sitcoms: The two new '50s/60s sitcoms they have coming, Beverly Hillbillies/Andy Griffith
7-8pm Modern Classic Sitcoms: Three's Company/Married...with Children (good bridge from classics into PRIME)
TV Land PRIME 8pm-2am
8-9pm Home Improvement
9-10pm Roseanne
10-11pm The Simpsons
11pm-12am Married...with Children
12am-1am Roseanne
1am-2am The Simpsons
2am-3am The Cosby Show (not really PRIME, but again a good bridge from PRIME to classics)
3am-6am TV Land Classics: Two new 50s/60s sitcoms that are coming, Leave it to Beaver, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith
Star Trek can air on the weekends at 6am, followed by Gunsmoke and Bonanza. And marathons can air of "classics" from 9am-9pm each weekend, followed by PRIME shows from 9pm-3am.

I would watch the hell out of that, definitely. All I want is TC and possibly the Brady Bunch on in the daytime.
And what is this about two 50s/60s shows they're adding?
tvparadise 06-04-2009, 09:31 AM Two new 50s/60s sitcoms that are coming
So these shows are pre-1970's? TheLink always says they are pre-1980's.
I like your schedule, but it probably makes way too much sense for TV Land!
The Simpsons would be interesting, but I wonder if MTVN got hold of that if they would want to put it in prime time on Comedy Central to pair with South Park/Futurama to go up against Family Guy/King of the Hill on Adult Swim?
I've always wondered why The Simpsons wasn't on cable. I would be hesitant to think though that they would put it on TV Land exclusively...seems more like an FX, TBS, or Spike (they could share with TV Land then) show. They need to get a clear direction on where they are going...Not some modeling show with Roseanne and Married With Children. That's just weird.
LHOTP usually starts around 6 even I think. I'll flip by there tonight and see, but I can definately say it's not airing at 5:30.

I like that schedule a lot! Except where does M*A*S*H go? I'm not a "Simpsons" fan but I think that would be a good acquisition to give them buzz. The problem is that even if they tried a schedule like that, they wouldn't keep it long enough to give it a chance to catch on
Pavan 06-04-2009, 12:11 PM Whoops! Forgot about M*A*S*H. It's one of those limited shows since they can't air it in the daytime. They could air it 2-3am then I guess. And have Cosby Show on PRIME on weekends.
I'm shocked they still haven't released June 15th and on yet. But they would change it anyway. It's not like they've got a ton going on, I wonder what the holdup is?
Also....I guess Back to School will be off the clock tonight, but I think Roseanne would still start at maybe 11:07 or so.
JulieSomoski 06-04-2009, 03:29 PM I couldn't see The Simpsons on TV Land. Roseanne and Married with Children work really well together it seems.
I'm also surprised we haven't seen the schedule for June 15th and on. Is TV Land still contemplating what they want to do? Perhaps they're waiting to see how this Roseanne marathon does?
tvparadise 06-04-2009, 04:19 PM It seems like they often times release schedule updates at the end of Fridays. Hopefully they at least go with something similar to what is going on this week over what originally was planned for June/July.

Does the Hallmark Channel own the rights to air LHOTP in the daytime, since I used to see it on that channel during the daytime (and still do see it in the early morning on the weekends on that channel)?
Wow, I knew there were exclusive syndication packages, but I only knew of the ones that allowed only one channel to air a show, or allowed one channel to air later seasons of a show while another channel aired earlier seasons. I never knew they were as specific as time-of-day. I had wondered how the Hallmark Channel and TV Land could be running MASH and other series at the same time, since they both show episodes from all the seasons--I thought maybe they had non-exclusive contracts, but now I understand they probably have contracts that allow them to run them at different times of the day. This is very interesting.
Robbie
Pavan 06-04-2009, 05:46 PM Hallmark can air it from 6am-6pm only. TV Land from 6pm-6am.
Hallmark airs it 3-5pm weekdays right now...
TV Land started LHOTP at 5:53PM. Technically, that is against the contract right PB?
Pavan 06-04-2009, 06:52 PM Sure is.
Heh, if they keep it up I bet they'll be hearing from Hallmark. What a sloppy operation!
JulieSomoski 06-04-2009, 07:18 PM Sloppy is definitely the word. Now they can't even follow their own contracts?
nickandmore 06-04-2009, 08:55 PM Thought this might be of interest to some here...

JulieSomoski 06-04-2009, 09:01 PM Seems like since May, their ratings have been down. Off-the-clock has to be a factor. But, I'm sure the real problem is all this erratic scheduling TV Land has been doing lately. At least their primetime is higher rated than their daytime.
Sad to think they were top 10 primetime in 1999. Andy Griffith leaving 8-10 is probably a factor as it is the highest rated show.
The Link has said over and over off-the-clock doesn't play a big factor in the ratings, but I would think it does some (but probably doesn't account for all of the drop).
Brent88 06-04-2009, 10:15 PM Well last week was the highest-rated in primetime in 3 weeks.
Seriously though, the erratic scheduling + off the clock has to be a factor. If I wasn't a huge fan of Roseanne I wouldn't even bother, and once they get through all the episodes once I'll probably stop watching if they are still like this.
WTF....I made a post on the TV Land boards about LHOTP and how it was airing and how stupid it was....and it was deleted
oh well, get 'em Hallmark!
RobbieG 06-05-2009, 01:49 AM Heh, if they keep it up I bet they'll be hearing from Hallmark. What a sloppy operation!
I'm already finding myself shifting more and more to the Hallmark Channel and away from TV Land, because at least I know with the Hallmark Channel, the show I'm expecting to see at a certain time each night, is on at that time. I'm enjoying watching Golden Girls, Cheers, and Lucy in regular time slots from 11pm to 3am. It's fortunate for me that I already liked all those shows anyway, I guess.
TV Land's schedule is a mess. I miss watching Andy Griffith from 8-10; 7 is usually too early for me as I'm not home by then. At least I can still see The Cosby Show in primetime on TV Land--sometimes. I don't know what is going through their minds with this scheduling.
Robbie

I wonder if off the clock will start at 8pm tonight since they're airing the same thing all night? Since it's the same show I don't see why they wouldn't, it's just an hour earlier. BTW, they are skipping through Good Times at warp speed - they were in season 1 less than 2 weeks ago, now season 4.

Yeah, these sort of contracts exist all the time. TBS can only air Married with Children at a certain time (they air it at 6AM) because Spike got the rights to air it in the more prominent times.

Yeah, the Good Times episode skipping is rather annoying. Not the best series to jump around like that. With its cast changes, it's a very different show during the last few seasons, compared with the earlier ones.

I love the first 3 seasons, too. The show just wasn't the same for me without John Amos as the father. Season 4 wasn't too bad either since at least Florida is still there. I tend to like the earlier seasons of TV shows. I like the earlier seasons of MASH because Henry Blake is my favorite character, and whenever they are in the early seasons, TV Land reduces the air time for MASH or moves it around a lot. Then when it gets into the later seasons which I don't like as much, they expand and/or stabilize the air time. I guess the TV Land executives like the later seasons better.
There are all kinds of reasons why the later seasons of Good Times aren't as enjoyable to me, but of course one thing that sticks in my mind when I am watching the later seasons is that Florida would NEVER have left her kids like that. (Of course, I know the writers were in a tough spot having to come up with something to explain her absence.) Even when she came back, it was still a little weird knowing that she had been gone, and of course no mention of returning to Carl or sending for him (I read that was one of her stipulations for returning to the show, but it made things weird, and of course she did mention Carl sending a gift in the first episode in which she returned, making things even weirder).
I was watching Good times in the 4-5am slot, so when TV Land redid their schedule and stopped showing it at that time, I was disappointed that I could no longer watch Good Times just when it had wrapped to the "good" episodes (IMO). Well, I can take some comfort that they whipped through them, I guess, although I know it's frustrating to those still watching it in the daytime. I like the early seasons of The Jeffersons better too, and that show had just wrapped as well, and just as I was enjoying watching the early episodes, TV Land stopped showing the show from 3-4am.

TVFactFan 06-06-2009, 11:22 AM I'm not going to get nauseous about the Roseanne marathon this weekend because of the Married With his Children Marathon next week.
TheLink maintains this will be the schedule after the Roseanne marathon.

Maybe last week's schedule was just to help get some more Roseanne viewers over with shows like Cosby, MWC. It seemed very plastic and temporary to me.
Pavan 06-06-2009, 04:59 PM I doubt that. I expect some changes next week to that schedule starting June 15.

I'd be very surprised if that was the actual schedule. I expect another radically different schedule to come out next week.
I don't expect that either, really - but I wonder what will change? I'm thinking LHOTP 5:50-7PM will be gone (maybe more Hillbillies, Beaver or something) and maybe TAGS back to 7-9PM with 12-1pm going to something else. Cosby didn't last long from 8-9pm before so I wonder about it. I think Roseanne 9-10pm will stay. Maybe a shifting of MWC (BTW, it's still not listed as a TV Land show on their site, so it just may be airing until July when it goes back to Spike, TVL made a section for Roseanne but not it.). That lone M*A*S*H at approx 1:30am seems a little lost. And who knows about Three's Company. The rest I don't think they'll change, at least for now. They could always bring those marathons back at some time of the day...
Anybody care to share what they think may be changed this time?
WTF? I just turned TV Land on around 11:48 and Roseanne was airing (looked like a tag scene, it went off at 11:50), and the show was in a little box squeezed in the center of the screen and had "PRIME" going all over the place on the top and sides then had all kinds of ads for SGTL, etc going on at the bottom, it went on for a good while. This is apparently their answer to not cutting the credits. Is this new?

I believe they'd been doing that since early last week. I've watched Roseanne every day for the last week or so, and they've been doing it. This way, we get to see the tag scene in full - it's much better than credit crunching. NAN should consider something like this.

Yeah it's new, just started this week, but I've only seen it during Roseanne, not other shows.
I don't mind it so much, it's a lot better than destroying the credits(which is pretty much impossible for Roseanne anyway), so I guess this is the alternative.
tvparadise 06-07-2009, 02:58 PM I've actually seen this lately during the closing credits of "Good Times" (actually get to hear the closing theme). Not all airings, but some over the last week or so.
It looks a cleaner than just scrunching the credits downward (All in the Family, Good Times, Green Acres, Brady Bunch). Of course shows like- Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, Bonanza, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver, and maybe a few others have the re-typed credits- so their ending themes are never aired anymore.
Married...with Children also has the re-typed credits, but it's really unprofessional looking as the title of the show appears in the box as:
Married wit
h Children
Has anyone else noticed this or is it my TV?
Actually I like the scrunching to the bottom more than to the side, at least the letters are more readable.
Maybe it varies, but when they were doing the MWC marathons I seem to think it read like this:
MARRIED.. WTH
CHILDREN
I may be wrong.
What the heck is keeping them from announcing next week's schedule? It's less than a week off now. It's stupid I know, but I'm a bit anxious to see what they have planned. It must be something taking a lot of thought (could be a huge shake-up) seeing how long they are taking.
How are they treating Roseanne for the marathon?

Well besides the off the clock nonsense pretty good I'd say, though some of the episodes have already aired(since they launched early). They really should have changed that, but oh well. I absolutely DESPISE the constant ads for SGTL though. Every commercial has at least one ad for it, and about once an hour tonight I saw a huge over 2 minute promo for it.
I'm also dying to know what next week's schedule is.
Scoobiedoo30 06-09-2009, 11:10 AM www.tvland.com has updated the scheduled through the 20 of June
Pavan 06-09-2009, 12:38 PM No, they didn't. It's still the old schedule.
Scoobiedoo30 06-09-2009, 12:45 PM Pavan what I meant by updated The Schedule I Meant it now through the 20th of June and what do you mean by the old Schedule my friend befor it was just till Saturday, June 13, 2009.
WOW!!!! Primetime TV Land just got 529,000 viewers last week - that's a 220,000 drop in ONE WEEK (from 745,000). http://www.tvbythenumbers.com - search "TVLD"
   God, the ratings were better in 2001! The daytime ratings seem to be staying stable. I think primetime is their weakness and the loss of Andy Griffith probably is a factor..

tvparadise 06-09-2009, 01:16 PM Wow that is a drop...even under Noggin (which targets pre-schoolers basically) in primetime.
Last week primetime consisted of Cosby 8 - 9 and Roseanne 9 - 11 (except with The Cougar Wed and the movie on Fri).
The daytime numbers are still pretty strong (they outrank all their sister networks except Nick and Spike).
Based on that I see them keeping most things outside of primetime the same next week. Andy Griffith will probably at least get the 8pm hour back with Cosby going back to overnights.
Brent88 06-09-2009, 01:36 PM LOL... TV Land needs to close down.
Aaron: That's the same generic schedule they've had for weeks. It's the same schedule they had before last week.

I don't see what the factor in these ratings drops could be. If Roseanne was doing so terribly, TV Land would have easily pulled the marathon by now. Then again, it could be off the clock, it could be Cosby, it could be The Cougar, it could be the movie. I wish we could get some individual show ratings to see just what the problem is.
OOliver 06-09-2009, 01:47 PM Remember when TV Land was actually worth watching? I'm going back a while, but it was actually fun to watch this network and revisit many of the old shows. Now it's not even worth checking the schedule any longer.
Didn't Married With Children air in primetime some? I know it did Monday. I think everything mentioned here is a good possibility. Cosby from 8-9 is probably not helping things.
I definately see Andy getting 8-9 back or maybe 8-10, it is the one that keeps carrying primetime it seems. I still look for Roseanne to do OK...not a huge hit but not a disaster. They need to bring M*A*S*H back to primetime, maybe 10-11pm and do Roseanne 11-12am. It always did well.
I see probably 8pm-2am getting the shake-up next week - maybe that's the schedule holdup.
tvparadise 06-09-2009, 02:03 PM Oh yeah, MWC was Monday- but the rest of the week it was outside of primetime at 12am.
It's weird how Cosby hasn't been the mega-hit it was on Nick@Nite.

Too old for Nick@Nite, but not quite old enough for TV Land

It might not have been the mega hit we were led to believe, though. Back when Cosby was airing, NAN's viewership in total was much lower than it is now. So, hits like GLo on NAN can get over 1 million viewers, but is a possibility Cosby never did but was still considered a hit.
Nonetheless, I doubt Roseanne is the problem. My guess would definitely be on Cosby and The Cougar pulling things down. The Cougar was a huge bomb, and I'm sure it got less than 500k.
I still think Roseanne is sort of in the middle...not a huge hit but not a bomb (enough for them to scrap the marathon). I think they'll try to make it work at least over the summer. I think it will do about what Cosby did for them.
I would just like to know what is doing the best and what is doing the worst. I'm guessing Cougar was a bomb, Cosby and MWC weren't that great, Roseanne was OK and Andy did well. It's harder to tell with the movie. I can't watch this channel anymore.....the SGTL ads are crazy there are so many and they are just annoying. This belongs on another channel.

Cosby Show was getting over 1 million. George Lopez does 2-3.
Primetime consisted mostly of Roseanne last week. Married...with Children only aired in prime on Monday from 10-11pm.
