Hopefully in 2006, Odd Couple will see the light, because its days look numbered for 2005 at least. Along with other favorites that can be seen on the what series you're still waiting for thread on this board.

Also more seasons of MTM! I'm also anxious about Wings alot, but Odd Couple, I'm gonna scream if this isn't released soon! I never get to see it, its not on TV Land. It is on WPIX sometimes, but not frequently. I see it maybe twice, three times a year. :( Wings on the other hand has been on alot recently. :)

I'm despretly hoping that WB finally releases Brimstone on DVD. It is my most favourite show ever, and I really hope it comes out.

I'm praying that 2006 is the year of The Real Ghostbusters on DVD. It's time to release this Sony every other Big '80s cartoon else has come.

Those two are the big ones that I want badly, there are others too but I won't get into the rest of them.. Now what I think may finally come. I have a feeling some these will come next year.

I'm definitely getting Grace Under Fire, Cybill and Grand (I totally remember that show!) and maybe Cosby as a blind buy.

I expect Image to finish out Saved By The Bell:The New Class and assuming they own the rights, start on another TNBC show, I'm thinking California Dreams, City Guys or Hang Time. With the final Degrassi Junior High coming out next month, they'll no doubt pick up with the continuation: Degrassi High. Good Times should have its final season released in '06. The Flintstones and I Love Lucy should be finished next year too. I truly believe Facts of Life fans will finally be happy, that's if it doesn't come out this year. I'm also betting on the Odd Couple and hopefully Square Pegs. I can see Warner continuing with Fresh Prince, Night Court and maybe Jamie Foxx but not the Wayans Bros. Universal will continue to pump out their old shows (McMillan & Wife, Emergency, etc.) I know there's tons of other possibilities but that's what I came up with off the top of my head so far.

I believe they air Cosby right before Mama's Family on TBS during the week -- that is, Cosby comes on at 4:30AM Central for me. I've seen it -- it's a decent show. :)

Well, WGBH does own Degrassi High so we'll definitely see that from them. I think that Disney will utilize their TV titles more in the forseeable future; same with Sony/MGM, Paramount and Universal. I see Sony FOR SURE releasing what we want next year; all of them. And in Warner's case, for the completion list, here's what I see:

Yeah, I'm looking at the shorter wait between Jeffersons Seasons 3 and 4, releases of shows like Tabitha and That's My Mama and upcoming short wait second seasons of Partridge Family, Bewitched, etc. as a sign that Sony will be more active/aggressive/better releasing their tv product in '06.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned that. Jamie's been a hot name for the last year. More successful movies (Miami Vice should be out next year) should give Warner reason to push another season or two of his show.

of course, hotness doesn't always help. Party Of Five is still in limbo despite Matthew Fox starring in one of tv's hottest shows (I hope that Haunted from 2002 gets released thanks to his Lost popularity), plus Lacey Chabert is hot again thanks to Mean Girls, and Scott Wolf's on Everwood, but still that's not enough to make Sony get the urge to release season 2.

I think Joey comes out in R2 next month so it will likely be out here by the end of 05'. And there is also probably a good chance we will see American Dad! in 05' since Season 4 of Family Guy comes out in November(I think). However that is just my opinion.

Sasette, dont worry, because if they do wait for Cheers and Frasier to finish releasing, it wont be that long of a wait! Paramount is picking up the pace, VERY rapidly. Season 6 we already knew was coming Sept. 13, and today, we find out season seven is coming only 2 months, 2 days later, Nov. 15th!

So at that rate, we'll see Wings by summer '06! (if your theory is true, or whatever you wanta call it.)

If Cheers and Frasier are completed before August 2006, it'll be absolutely perfect, for me at least.

I'd figure Paramount would juggle Wings with Taxi sets. Since they seem to do a Taxi set with every other Cheers/Frasier set (we'll probably see season 4 with seasons 8 of C/F and season 5 with seasons 10 of C/F), they oughta alternate Wings season 1-2 with the upcoming season 7 release, and then season 3 with season 9, and season 4 with Cheers season 11 and then release them in brief intervals from then onward.

Paramount's really getting in gear when you look at The Brady Bunch, Cheers, Frasier, MacGyver and Charmed. Granted, they generally suck in the extras dept but all is forgiven when there's 2-3 months between seasons

Not really. I believe they're in Season 9 right now, and Season 6 is coming out soon.... so Seasons 7-9 should probably be out next near, and it will be caught up.

I Love Lucy will be completed in 2006, if not this fall. The Andy Griffith Show seems that it is on the fast track to finish as well.

However, HD, L&S and M&M all seem to have gotten the shaft.

That gets me really angry, I happy they are speeding things up, But all three of those shows, IMO are Classics, I have put of buying L&S because I hate just having one season and then stopping It just bothers me ( I'll even buy the 8th season even though I hate it cause I have to have a complete collection... :mad:

Hopefully in 06' we will also see second seasons of Full House, Jamie Foxx, Wayans Bros, Night Court and Murphy Brown if they don't come out late 05'. I'm not buying any of them (except Full House since I already have it) unless the other seasons are released because I am also a compleatist and cannot stand having just one or two seasons of a show! WB also needs to start releasing Family Matters, Step By Step, Drew Carey, George Lopez, and Two and a Half Men. Sony needs to get moving in 06' and get out more of Different Strokes, Who's the Boss, Mad About You and Just Shoot Me. Fox is doing a pretty good job, but could be faster releasing The Simpsons, and That 70's Show. An Angel boxed set like the Buffy one coming would also be nice. Also they should start releasing Darmha & Greg, Yes Dear!, and Two Guy's and a Girl. And most importantly... MORE MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE!!! That is just my opinion on what a few of the top studio's (excluding Sony) should do in 06'.

That's true, but those would all pretty much be blind buys for me, and are not must haves. Full House was the only must have. I forgot to menton that WB should also start getting out more Mad TV Season releases... not best of's.

Ohh, ok, that makes sense. I wasn't sure by some odd chance that I missed a rumor about a possible release for "The Brady Brides" or "The Bradys".... which would most likely sell just as much as the seasons of the original series.

Like I said in the 2006 thread I've been really impressed with Paramount this year and hope and expect greater things next year.

I think Wings will come next year. I have a feeling. I think many of you are right that Paramount is waiting to finish of Cheers & Frasier first. It will be a happy day when Wings finally comes out on DVD.

I hope Family Ties finally comes, like many of you here I've been itching for more news on this ever since it was first announced. It would be great too if Paramount released the other shows they hinted about (Moesha, Sister, Sister & Parkers)

I'm really crossing my fingers though that Paramount releases Are You Afraid of the Dark? as the next part of the Rewind Collection. And speaking of hopeful future waves of the collection I'd love it if You Can't Do That on Television, Hey Dude & Salute Your Shorts all followed. Now back to the finger crossing I'm also hoping that Paramount releases Do Over: The Complete Series, Sightings (I don't care if it's a Season Set or A Best Of just being able to see this again would be wonderful), Jake and the Fatman & Dave's World (if Paramount owns it)

I also would love if Paramount releases more seasons of Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, Laverne & Shirley, Joan of Arcadia, Resurrection Blvd & The Amanda Show. It's not fair to leave them hanging there.

Mork may be a spinoff, but I'd say it mostly appeals to a different audience than HD/L&S, if you notice on the HD board, most people were concerned with Laverne and didn't care about Mork in terms of cancelled DVD's. I'd say M&M appeals more to an ALF/3rd Rock audience and since there's no remaining ties to HD outside of the first episode, they should be able to release seasons 2-4 without any worry that it'll "spoil" HD things

Now back to the finger crossing I'm also hoping that Paramount releases Dave's World (if Paramount owns it)

I'm surprised Warner didn't announce the first season to "Joey" to go along with the final season of "Friends." It would have been a nice marketing strategy, and Region 2 already got it anyway. I'd like to see that release sometime in 2006, and I'm hoping they won't wait until it goes into syndication (assuming it makes it that far) before releasing it.

Also, someone mentioned the Nickelodeon Rewind Collection, and I thought I'd chime in to say that I'd love to see "The Secret World of Alex Mack" released as part of that line sometime soon. That was probably my favorite of the live-action Nick shows and it bums me out that it doesn't play anywhere on TV (nor did it have any VHS releases during its original run like so many other Nick shows).

For Nick's Rewind Collection, I want them all, or at least the ones I remember.

ANNNNND You Can't Do That On Television all came out to DVD. Marc Summers ****ING ROCKED, and YCDTOTV is the Holy Grail of kids' TV. I feel extremely fortunate to have been born early enough to catch it when it was on. I haven't seen any episodes in WAY more than a decade. :(

Me too. My dad has digital cable and you had better believe that one of the reasons I visit him is because of that. :winkgrin

Unfortunately, I don't think he has the kind of DVR box that stores episodes and the VCR they have hooked up to that TV is 16+ years old, so you can't really do much with an ancient VCR and a DVR box like that. :lol:

I get such a kick out of watching DD/FDD on GAS -- the prizes they offered at the time make me LMAO really hard. One episode I watched the other day, they offered a "portable CD player" as one of the prizes for completing the obstacle course...they showed the picture of that CD player and it was fricking HUGE. Portable, MY ASS! :rofl: It was only 1990, sad to say. :crazy: And I -REMEMBER- watching those. :lol:

I would definitely like to see "Family Ties" and "Small Wonder" released on DVD in 2006. I already signed the petition to put them on DVD. These are two great shows that deserve a DVD release in season sets. I would buy all season sets.

You didn't mention the specific timeframe CA S2 came out -- it was April '04 I believe. I think S1 came out in April 2003 too...Or was it June? Anyway, it's been almost 1 1/2 years since S2 came out and when S3 comes out (HOPEFULLY on the 4/25 date that was posted on TSOD), it will have been 2 years since S2 was released.

Yeah, I always hope you never post at around 5 p.m. eastern because that's when I'm traveling home from work and I never want to miss your scoops when you post them.

Anyway, they'll definitely be a lot of people happy with what you've posted so far today.

Some days I just don't have the time to post until after 5 p.m., that is why I really do that.

Here's a good example (http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2211), posted just about a year ago of how releases don't always come out when we think they will. Hopefully this is one of the Paramount titles with new news and it'll actually happen this time. The Odd Couple is another Paramount show I'd like to hear news about. I'm not sure of everything they have the rights to but those and more Nick Rewind Collection releases are what I'm hoping for most.

Unfortunately no, the sets are postponed indefinately. The music rights were too much of an issue.

here's something I never thought I'd see.

On Jan 31st, Shout!Factory is releasing Margaret Cho's infamous ill-fated sitcom vehicle "All American Girl". The show lasted less than a season and inspired almost half of the performance in "I'm The One That I Want", her stand-up film from 1999. Margaret's problems with ABC over weight and content are infamous if you're familiar with her stand-up routine, yet for all of the fans she's gained since the mid-90's (AAG ran 1994-1995), the sitcom has been an elusive show we've always wanted to see and never had the idea that we would.

This is something I absolutely must have. Margaret is one of my favorite comedians and I also think she is all all-round great person, and I have been wanting to see the infamous sitcom she did ever since I became a fan. And in 4 months, I will.

I remember watching All American Girl originally. Good sitcom. I liked Grace Under Fire and Thunder Alley from that same era, too.

I have some episodes on tape. Fred Gwynne is great as Herman Munster. But he's equally great as Muldoon. His chemistry with Joe E. Ross was great. Plus it's nice to see Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis together, without all that makeup on.

Car 54 is definately a classic sitcom that deserves to come to DVD. It's one of the shows I grew up with by watching N@N.

I would love to see it again, and on DVD! It's a great little chunk of TV history. It deserves it's day in the sun!

that'd be a reissue from 2003. Sure it's not the last season? I know they released the Series Finale on DVD a few months after it aired, but now it's time for season six (the last year) to come to DVD.

Sony and MGM merge to produce a 4 disc set of "Green Acres". It releases this December 6th. With a new company in the DVD mix, and with some changes already occuring with the patterns of the sets (changed number of discs on this release as opposed to the first and second seasons), it's also quite possible for extras. Sony is pretty good with extras when they try, too!


Stay tuned for more "Green Acres" lovers.

That'd be nice for fans if it turns out to be WKRP. It wouldn't be guranteed that they'd secure all the original music since I know they couldn't do it with Undeclared. Whatever it is, Shout! should do a good job.

If they quit releasing "Ellen" I'll just about give up on my DVD collection. It's my fourth favorite sitcom of all-time and I want the whole series on DVD. You'd think A&E would release the rest of the show, because season 3 is a fan favorite (mine at least) and season 4 is the groundbreaking "coming out" season. Of course season 5 is the final season. Plus with her current show being such a big success, they'd want to release Ellen merchandise.

I'm also getting a little worried about "NewsRadio". I know I'm impatient, but I can't rest well, when I'm worried about the future of my favorite shows on DVD.

Any news on when the next Benny Hill set will be out? We got the first three pretty fast but I have not heard anything about the next one. He is one of my favorites of all time and the dvd's have been excellent so far:cool:

Actually, 20th Century Fox is the one that has the rights to MTM. Plus, Fox is getting better about their releases -- the 2nd season of MTM just came out in July, and just last week, they announced plans for the 3rd season of MTM to come out in mid-January of 2006, 24 weeks after the 2nd season was released. :)

I'm sure a LOT of fans will be glad to hear S2 of PO5 will be out in time for Xmas. :) I'm not a fan, but I'm happy because I know there were a lot of upset fans when S2 didn't come out later last year.

NewsRadio is the main one I hope it is. I also really want season 2 of "Ned & Stacey." I'd buy both "Diff'rent Strokes" and "Married ... with Children" but they're not biggies on my list. "MWC" would be a biggy on my list if only Sony didn't screw it over (first the theme song then the syndicated episodes).

Since AITF was mentioned yesterday, I assumed the Jefferesons would be today's announcement. If I'm the one who added it to the list, I don't know/remember where the heck I got that info from.

DS did sale poorly, but I guess they will try one more time. Buy them if you are a fan. As for Who's the Boss?, it doesn't look good right now. 227 has more of a shot than that.

it would be REALLY nice if these dvd companies released ACTUAL sales figures, instead of those ambiguous statements, and if they announced what numbers they feel are good or bad for each release - of course if they did that, then they would be obligated to actually put out stuff that met their sales quotas...
