Question In the episode "The Young Fans" does Lucille Ball have a bruised eye?

I was watching the episode "The Young Fans" today and it looks like Lucille Ball's eye is puffy underneath, like she might of had a bruised eye and they covered it up with make up...take a look for yourself and let me know what you think?...it's the eye to our right and her left.

I thought so too! I think I mentioned it before somewhere and someone (I think it was splain) told me it was probably just my TV!! Finally someone who agrees with me.

Wink

I'm glad someone else noticed...I thought it was just me...let us know what you think Splain. I watched the episode three times in a row and zoomed in and it looked like a bruised eye to me. Also, if watch closely when she is talking to Peggy it's almost as if she is trying to keep it open, but hey thats my opinion, I guess we'll never really know for sure...darn it!

Crazy, given how many of the old stories say she used to knock the living daylights of him during their, er... little tiffs... maybe it would have been only fair if he hit back once or twice.

But even if it is a black eye, and I can't say I've seen anything, with zooming and all (anyone got a hi-res TV?), there's lots of ways to get them. I've had several, and none of them were the result of punches.

Ya know, there are ways to getting a black eye without someone punching you! Maybe he threw a book and it accidentally hit her in the eye. lol!

Mickey, you act like Lucy was the only one that got violent. I'm sure Desi wouldn't just stand there and let her beat the s*** out of him....where did you hear those old stories from anyways???

Every book I've read that mentions something about that, talks about LUCY and only LUCY doing the hitting, never heard about Desi.
Desi at least took his anger out on his house and not Lucy. lol!

Yeah well I guess he took it out other ways too..., the only time I have heard that Lucy had hit him was the whole hammer incident which I dont believe for a second! The whole story sounds way over exaggerated! Then, I always heard that she liked to hurt a man...from the book Desilu, but it sounds to me like she wasn't being for real by hitting him, more like flirting or something. But whats worse physical abuse or mental abuse? Be aware that in many ways Desi mentally abused her. Maybe not always on purpose, but he knew her insecurities, yet he still took advantage of them. For example, she was worried about the whole age difference in their marriage and she always worried about getting older and like someone said before when she started losing to the age game he cheated more and more. I'm sure that was painful for her. Even Tom Watson said that he thought that Desi abused Lucy, not necessarily physical, but mentally. I think mental abuse is much worse because bruises heal, but mental abuse can last a LIFETIME. I asked my friend and she said the same thing. But, I guess thats my opinion....

Exactly! What Bekah and Mickey say is always a little one sided, although Bekah is usually fair. Same as those poeple who want to sell books by printing made up stories or at least exaggerated ones. But if i had been HER, i would have done worse to him to retaliate for all the years of boozing, gambling and especially fooling around. If he constantly hurt HER with HIS affairs with prostitutes and every woman he came across, she should hurt him back to show how she feels. They were both unhappy and needed help and there was no Dr Phil back then, they tried therapy nonetheless and he left after a few sessions. I think you don't hear about him hitting her because a man hitting a woman, well, it would have been bad for him and his career, and i agree with Bekah that he probably never did, but i also agree that the mental abuse was worse. AND, if she did get hardder later on, it was to protect herself from ever being hurt like that again. This was the love of her life that did these things to her, so she coated her heart to never get hurt like that again. Neither was perfect, that's for sure, as none of us here are either.

Thank you Splain! I feel the exact same way. I am surprised that she didn't hurt him more because I know people who have chased their husbands with knives for kissing another person, or dancing with another and come on now he slept with atleast 5 dozen other women. That is exactly why she was they way she was when she was older.
