I recently saw a sneak preview of Romano's first live-action film, "Welcome to Mooseport" and I have to say he was a disappointment all the way through. Don't get me wrong, the movie had a good premise and Gene Hackman was enjoyable to watch as always. But Romano didn't score the big laughs he gets every week on this beloved sitcom. I think he would be good at giving snappy one-liners in animated movies like he did in "Ice Age", but he is not made for live-action films that don't contain laugh tracks. I really hope this show stays on the air for a couple more years, because Romano, like other comedians-turned-sitcom-stars such as Seinfeld and Drew Carey, does not have a future in the cinema.

You make an excellent point. I don't think Ray Romano is an actor. Ray Barone is actually Ray Romano on television, right down to the twin boys.
Ray Romano doesn't act when he's on Everybody Loves Raymond (ELR), he is merely being himself. |

Ray Romano is a stand up comic, they never scored well in the movies.I think Ray should try to explore new things
roducing, writing, theater and do some voices over also.He was very good in:Ice Age. |

You were right, the movie bombed, not in Gigli proportions but will just recoup their money. I mean did they think the 13 year olds would go see a Ray Romano Gene Hackman film?

I've talked with three people who saw the movie and all of them said it was awful. Maybe Romano will stick with TV and keep ELR on the air.

I went to see it on opening day and I was disappointed. I thought it would be all extra funny and it simply wasn't very funny. There were some funny moments, but it was weak for a comedy. I almost fell asleep or thought about getting up to get some food in order to stay awake. There were a lot of good people in the film too, which made it more disappointing.
