I've been told that the TV show 'The Nanny' was veeeery much like ILL and I can really see that it's true. Was 'The Nanny' really the ILL of the 90's? Is Fran Drescher Lucille Ball's sucessor? You tell me..or us!

First of all,

! Always nice to see new fans around here. Second, to answer your question, Fran Drescher has always said that ILL is one of her all-time favorite shows. And I think there's no doubt that it was a major influence on "The Nanny." Also, for the most part, TN is a family show. I mean, sure, it's a lot sexier than ILL ever was, but you have to remember that was 50 years ago! So yeah, definitely "The Nanny" is a '90's version of ILL, IMO.

I agree. I think the show is kinda based on I Love Lucy.

If you compare the two shows, there are a lot of similarities. Some of the most noticable ones are:

Fran= Lucy
Maxwell= Ricky
Val= Ethel
I guess Niles= ARG! I forgot the guy's name! It's right there, too!!!
Maxwell yelling "MISS FINE!"= Ricky yelling "LUUUCY!"
Fran getting into some sort of trouble= Lucy getting into some sort of trouble
Fran dressing up as various characters (such as that man)= Lucy doing the same thing (usually a dancer)
Maxwell is famous= Ricky is famous
Maxwell works with the stage= Ricky works with the stage

And those are only a few. One of the obvious differences, however, is that Lucy's in black and white, and The Nanny is in color.

My mom was sitting there and goes "You know... this show is a lot like I love Lucy" and I agreed with her.

Dannie, you forgot one more similarity. Both Fran and Lucy went nuts whenever there was a celeb around LOL. And I believe the person you wanted to pair Niles with is Fred. Now that you bring it up, those parings actually do make sense! I never thought of that LOL!
