I'm surprised that Britney has only had one #1 hit.

On the pop charts, Brenda Lee had 2 number 1 pop hits, "I'm Sorry" in 1960 and "I Want To Be Wanted" in 1961.

Also Ray Stevens had 2 number 1 pop hits as well, "Everything Is Beautiful" in 1970 and "The Streak" in 1974.

Springsteen! Prince's When Doves Cry kept Dancing In The Dark from hitting #1.

Because it's a bad, bad, bad, bad song - which makes it all the more heartbreaking that it was Berry's only number one song, as his fiftes and sixties singles, among the most essential in rock, were so wonderful but never topped the charts.

So - THERE!

But.... technically he still had a number one hit.

If you're judging by quality whether a number one should be considered a number one, we'd be here all day mentioning artists who never hit #1. Rick Dees, Vanilla Ice, Roxette, etc., etc., etc.

It is just unimagineable that CCR never had a number 1 hit! Weird!

well, for any consolation, CCR actually had FIVE #2 hits, I think they have the record for most #2's without a #1
