yea, The Velvet Rope and Rhythm Nation 1814 was real "untalented" albums :::rolls eyes::: Both were great "concept" albums that ran the musical gamut

she's not a great vocalist and she relies WAY too much on sex (which I find funny how she used to publically criticize Madonna in the early 90's... look at Janet in the past decade), but she IS a good artist. Rhythm Nation and Velvet Rope are two of the best "pop" albums of the past 15 years IMO.

I'm 14, I've been around for little of her career. I'm basing that statement on the fact that she sounds the same in every song, she doesn't have much vocal talent, and she relies a LOT on sex.

She's still hot now, but she was prettiest during the Janet era, when she didn't seem to try so hard to be sexy.

Default When you say the "Janet era"

You are most likely talking about the videos from that album, such as, "That's The Way Love Goes, If, Again, Whoops Now, Anytime, Anyplace, and You Want This.

I agree that she relies way too much on sex, and isn't a great vocalist, but I do think she is a better songwriter than some people want to credit her for. Her last album (All For You) was her worst ever, but I still listen to Velvet Rope on a regular occasion. She really surprised me with that album.

Just a quick question:

How is she a "good artist" if she's "not a great vocalist"? What exactly can she do? Singing is her job...if she's not good at it, why in the world is she famous?

Well, she writes all of her songs, co-produces all of her music. She can dance her a$$ off, and has a unique voice. Just because she doesn't belt like Whitney or Mariah doesn't mean she's not a good vocalist.

Oh, okay. I didn't know she wrote her own music. I did know that she can dance her a$$ off, though. It seems that people worship her, and I just didn't get why.
