Sad Greg Maddux...a Yankee

This puts me in the ackward position of Greg being my favorite player, and the Yankees still being my most hated professional sports team. What's a guy to do

Trust me Greg Maddux is not going to the Yankees. He does not want to pitch in New York and in the American League. Like I said before his style of pitching does work in the American League, especially aganst the Red Sox or the Yankees.

This is probably a rumor started by Maddux's agent Scott Borus, to get more money from the Cubs and Dodgers. Borus might have even done this with the Yankees blessing to use their name to help Maddux, as a favor since Borus represent A-Rod.

Or this is the most farfetch theory, if the Yankees believe that Maddux's style will not work in the AL, maybe they are trying to sucker the Red Soxs into signing Maddux.

Don't be surprised if it happens. I know I won't.

I say that because, on the ESPN bottom line, a News alert flashed: Maddux reportedly going to sign with Yankees.

It's funny, that year that Maddux left the Cubs as a free agent and went to the Braves, I remember the Yankees courted him. Took him to a Broadway show, restaurants, really tried to sell him on playing for NY and they were pissed when he chose Atlanta. I guess the Yankees don't hold any grudges if they're willing to sign him now. I'd be surprised if he even wants to pitch in New York.

I would be too, but maybe he likes the thought of playing in a World Series and seeing the Yanks get A-Rod enticed him. I won't believe it until I see it though.

I don't think it's about the money for Greg this time around.

I doubt it is going to happen.

http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASAp..._nyy&fext=.jsp

The general manager's recent pursuit of free-agent first baseman Travis Lee has been well known. And reports have surfaced free-agent pitcher Greg Maddux has emerged as possibly another option for the starting rotation.

Cashman shot down the rumors involving Maddux, who shares his agent, Scott Boras, with Rodriguez.

"We are not involved with Greg Maddux," the GM said.

Even though I don't think it will happen, it could be spin control.

Well, now ESPN is reporting that Greg Maddux is likely to sign with the Cubs. This would be a huge releif for me. I can respect the Cubbies.

The Cubs had plenty of opportunities to close that series out; but naturally, most people use Bartman as an excuse.
