Default Episode #37: What Goes Up... slip up

Anyone notice during the trampoline part Carol goes "Thats great Chris" I laughed when I heard this. How didn't they notice she didn't say Peter or Pete?

She also says, "You try it now, Eve" to Jan. The dialogue during this scene is pretty obviously unscripted (Carol asks the girls, "Do you do any tricks?" and they don't answer) and Florence screwed up a couple of times and called the kids by their real names. The producers probably didn't notice until well after the scene was in the can, if they noticed at all. If they did, they probably figured we wouldn't.

My guess is that one reason the producers didn't demand a retake was that they'd probably rented the trampoline for the day just for that scene and they didn't want to have to redo that whole scene. Still, one wonders if they could have covered themselves with voiceovers after the shot?

I remember first noticing these bloopers you mention on Nick@Nite's Classic TV Rewind several years ago. I don't think N@N does those rewinds anymore, do they? (I rarely watch that channel anymore because I don't like their current line-up much.)

Another blooper I noticed is in the episode where Cindy has a secret admirer. She and the boy go into the kitchen and Cindy tells Alice that they may want some refreshments later. Then, As Cindy is exiting the kitchen toward the viewer, she rolls her eyes up and sticks out her tongue to the camera. (I think Susan probably hated doing this scene, as Cindy is trying to act very grown-up in it.)

Another blooper: In the Harvey Klinger episode, Marcia says something, but her lips don't move.

Exactly...and it's Carol who, earlier in the scene said, "Hey, go get 'em Chris" while Peter is jumping on the trampoline...

I first read about these two slip ups in "Bradymania" a very good book by Elizabeth Moran (I think her first name is Elizabeth, anyway)... there's a short chapter in that book called "Mistakes that slipped past"...

It also mentioned that one time Mike Carol and Bobby left in one car, but came back in another car....that was in the episode where Bobby goes on TV to compete in the ice cream eating contest....

It's fun seeing little mistakes that were made in these shows...several times, things in a scene were totally different, depending on which camera angle was shot...it's great looking for stuff like that...

One time, Cindy goes upstairs in her PJs after saying good night to Mike and Carol, and she arrives at her room fully dressed in playclothes..

lots of good stuff like that... people are finding more and more all the time...

In the episode where Peter thinks he doesn't have a personality, (the 'porkchops and applesauce' episode) he is in the living room talking to Mike and Carol. He is wearing a blue shirt. He reaches down to take something from Mike and his back is facing the camera. The scene lasts for just a second, but his shirt changes to pink. You will need to pause your VCR and play it in slow motion, otherwise you will miss it.

You can definitely hear Florence say, "Hey go get em Chris" when Peter is jumping on the trampoline. But, I have yet to hear Barry say to Jan "Why don't you give it a try Eve?" Has this been cut from TV Land? It must be right in the beginning of the scene. What dialogue comes before it so that I can listen for the line?

I just saw this episode and didn't notice it... but it was a VERY funny episode.

Jack1000: It's actually more audible than the "Go get 'em Chris." It happens around the time Cindy is getting off the trampoline. Barry is not in the picture; you just hear his voice.

Colonel: Peter gets a phone call from a girl inviting him to a party. As he reaches down to hang up the phone, you see a glimpse of a pinkish shirt.

Here are a couple more slip ups. These are both from the first season:

In the episode where Cindy is in the Fairy Princess play, she is at play practice and is pretending to have a sore leg so she can get out of the play. She is wearing white hair ribbons. In the next scene, she is in her room talking to Mike. She is wearing the same dress, but now her hair ribbons are yellow.

In the episode, "Kitty Carry All is Missing", Peter has a long sleeve gray shirt on. The boys are in their bedroom talking and Peter's sleeves are rolled up. They then go into the girls' bedroom and his sleeves are down. Then they go into the bathroom and argue with the girls. His sleeves are rolled up again. This all happens within about 20 seconds.

Maybe the scenes were filmed at different times or something and they forget little details (like the color of hair ribbons, or shirt sleeves). I don't think scenes were shot in the order as you see them on TV....
