Default Boy oh Boy

Wow, for someone who watned to leave a show and create a new name for herself... did Shelley Long's career go down the crapper fast or what?

I'm suprised no one brought it up before...

The Brady Bunch Movies...

Hello Again...

Non-Disney Freaky Friday (not that the Disney feature was much better)...

Frozen Assets...

And countless TV Christmas specials!

Hahaha...once you find yourself in Irreconcilable Differences, just resign as fast as you can Shelley.

Yes people have brought it up, and it is obvious it was not the right choice for her to leave such a brilliant role; but I don't really believe we need to rub her nose in it...I think it is kind of obvious. Although I must say, I do love "Troop Beverly Hills" and "Freaky Friday"

The Brady Bunch movies are some of my favorites.

and, no matter how HORRIBLE people think it is....

Troop Beverly Hills still gets a laugh out of me.

But overall.... BAD decision.

Definately. But sometimes I still wonder if she would have stayed, where the Sam/ Diane relationship would have gone. If they broke up again, it would have repetative. If they would have gotten married, it might have gotten boring.

I would have loved it!! Don't get me wrong, I love Kirstie but I would kick her out in a second to have more episodes of Sam and Diane relationship in them. Haha could you imagine Diane Pregnant? hahahaha she was already psycho without the hormonal imbalances and cravings....haha poor Sam. It might be just me, but I love their constant fighting and then making up....

Ive always wondered that too.

Breaking up would definately be repetitive.
And I think having them get married would have killed the series.

I believe that they knew Diane was leaving by the middle of the 4th Season.
So.... they planned the whole "Janet Elbridge -- then Sam proposes -- and then Sam proposes -- and then Sam proposes -- and then she finally accepts -- and leaves him at the "altar""

I dont think they would've gotten back together so soon.
I think Sam would've had another girlfriend for around a season.
Then finally have them get engaged.... and drag that on for 3 or 4 seasons.... and the finale be the wedding.

And that would be the ONLY time a wedding would make a good finale. Because the basic premise of the show was their relationship.

I would have wanted them to get married in season five...and then Season 6: Diane and Sam living together....will they survive?

haha....
I guess it could work.

Season 7: Diane Pregnant

Season 8: Raising A Baby and a Bar

Season 9: The "Seperation"
With a season finale of Sam filing for divorce.... while Diane comes to him with news that she's pregnant.
to be continued....

Then Carla resents Sam for not being around, or for not being their when his unborn child could have been killed...so she threatens him to get back together with Diane...and then Sam realizes he still loves her...wow i'm getting way to into this

Season 10 - Reunited
Sam and Diane get back together.... raise their daughter.... with Diane pregnant with a second child. And in the final episode.... they sell the bar and move to the country.

With them already married....
the only logical reason for a reunion would be for them to buy back the bar.

I think thats what the writers of Cheers were and ARE thinking.

Dont have them get married at the end of the series.... they NEED a reason for them to reunite in the reunion.

And that would be that Diane returns to Cheers.... and to Sam.\

Thats why I think "One For The Road" ended perfectly.
Very smart on the writer's part.

unless they do have a reunion...don't invite shelley and marry Sam off to rebecca.....then I kill the writers.
