A- Rod to the Yankees? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Newsday and the New York Post reports that there are serious discussion between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankess involving A-Rod. A-Rod would play third base for the Yankees. Alfonso Soriano and Jose Contrarez would go to the Rangers.

I think this trade is very unlikely, but as a Yankee fan I am enjoying the fact that the Red Sox fans are going crazy right now.

Oh, for... Let's see if I've got all this straight: The Rangers were in talks to trade A-Rod to the Red Sox. Then they nix the trade talk and make him Team Captain to make it seem like he'll be sticking around a while. And now there's trade talks with the Yankees? Would somebody mind explaining to me how this makes any sense?

Well I think why the Yankees are all of the sudden interested in A-Rod, is the Aaron Boone injury. The Yankees are the only team that can take A-Rod's salary. When the Rangers named A - Rod team captain, they Yankees decided they did not need an upgrade at third base, but George just changed his mind.

If this trade happens, I am concerned who will replace Contralez. I always take pitching over hitting. But A-Rod might be a exeption to the rule. I only hope the Yankees are not thinking of getting Maddox. Maddox is an NL pitcher, he tries that corner crap in the AL especially against the Red Sox he will be creambed. To make it in the AL you must have a hard fast ball.

Maddox is a wuss.
He pitches like 6 innings at most and is pampered like a baby.
When does have over 100 pitches?

Actually, the Yankees can deal with that. They have good middle relief and have had their share of pampered stars.

I'm very excited about this possibility(even though I think it is a long shot) Don't be surprised if you see Boston react and try to get back in this thing.

I have no problem with Maddax's pitching only 6 innings. I just don't think his style of nibbling the corners works in the American League, especially against the Red Sox. But the Yankees could deal with that from a 4 starter. As long as Brown does not get hurt.

I was talking about ARod. I don't want Maddux on the Yanks. If anything, we need a reliable lefty in the rotation. Maybe in June or July, someone like Al Leiter will be available.

Since the Mets are apparently clueless (I'm a Met fan by the way)
they probably will trade Leiter- even to the Yankees, though the Yankees would never do anything to help the Mets, the Mets are just still lost.

Breaking News, according to Newsday.com the A-Rod to the Yankees trade is a done deal. The Yankees and Rangers agreed to a deal is principal in which the Yankees get A-Rod and the Rangers get Soriano and a couple of other players. There are still minor details to be worked out. No word on if Contraez is involved in the deal.

This is just a report, but since David Well isn't involved (deal in principal doesn't mean **** when Wells is involved), it looks like the deal is done. I am an excited Yankee fan, especially if we don't have to give up Contraez, even if we do, I am still excited.

If it's complete (which I think it will be), the Yanks have a great line-up:

CF/DH Lofton, SS Jeter, 3B A-Rod, RF Sheffield, 1B/DH Giambi, DH/CF Bernie, C Posada, LF Matsui, and 2B A. Boone (he's injured, so then Enrique Wilson or Cairo I guess, they brought Homer Bush back, maybe him).

Not to menion Tony Clark and Ruben Sierra on the bench and maybe Carlos Lee will sign next week.

As for starting pitching, it's still solid: Mussina, Vasquez, K. Brown, Contreras, and Leiber.

The bullpen seems better than last year: Flash Gordon, Heredia, Quantrill, Karsay, and of course, Mariano Rivera.

Aaron Boone screws the Red Soxs again. If Boone does not get hurt, this A-Rod deal never happens.

Maddux? A Wuss? Are you f***ing kidding me? 16 strait seasons with 15+ wins. Nobody can top that. Most older guys start to play less and less after a long, and in this case, a very long and successful career. Nobody fields better than Maddux does, either.

thats a blow, but oh well, personally everyone is talking about how the red sox would responde, but they arent...they are pretty content with their team right now and the sox have a very strong line up still and I don't think the yankees have that scary of a line-up a lot of the players are either overrated (Jeter) and injury prone (Brown)
