Default Reba and Roseane Connection?

I love Reba, the TV show. This and 8 Simple Rules are the ONLY current sitcoms I watch. Otherwise, I just am a retro TV watcher. I think the comedy shows in the 80s/90s are much better, apart from these two sitcoms.

I think that the sitcoms "Roseanne" and "Reba" have a lot in common more than we think. Roseanne and Darlene can act loving in sarcastic attitudes just like Reba and Kyra can.

Roseanne and Reba are very different. Roseanne has this bad attitude and can be gross sometimes. After singing the national anthem and spitting and all Reba would never do such a thing. I don't find their sitcoms alike either

After Reba's first season, I read a blurb in Entertainment Weekly in which Reba herself said that she wanted to move the show more into Roseanne territory.

The connections are obvious- the three kids are almost exactely the same as Darlene, Becky and DJ, in looks and in attitude. Reba herself is spunky and lets nothing get by her. The oldest daughter's husband is a replica of Mark, only he's much more clean cut.

But that's where the similarities end. "Roseanne" was original, hilarious, groundbreaking, gutsy and bold. "Reba" is none of the above, from what I've seen. It's a mildly amusing, cute sitcom at best.

"Reba" would be a much better show if they'd make things a little harder for the characters. I mean, how does Reba keep that big house anyway? She doesn't work, or does she? If she does, I didn't see it in the episodes I've seen.

I totally agree with you about the similarities you posted! Those are what I meant. I didn't mean everything about Roseane is like Reba. Just the slight personalities and the kids.
