Default The Simpsons on the silver screen!

It looks like we will see it in the future! This is from imbd.com! COOL!

'The Simpsons' May Hit the Silver Screen
Production bosses are finally bringing The Simpsons to the big screen after years of trying - but they're refusing to divulge any details about the project. According to creator and writer James L Brooks, an idea has been accepted which will see the family from the hit TV series - Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie - hit the big screen in the next few years. But As Good As It Gets director Brooks is keen to keep the project under wraps, because it's only in its infant stage. He says, "We've got a very good and interesting idea, and it's different from the show. You know, it's like the South Park movie where it's just a bigger, longer, amplified version of the show. I can't tell you anything specific about it. My wife doesn't even know the secret." Fellow writer Mike Reiss adds, "It's been 13 years of wanting to do The Simpsons movie. Finally Fox said, 'Let's just do it!' We never had the greatest idea that was compelling but Fox said, 'Maybe if we start paying you, you'll get inspired.' And sure enough, it worked!"

You know- the simpsons is so popular that, no matter how bad the film may or may not be- it could end up being one of the highest grossing films of all time. They should've done this about 5 or 6 years ago- now the show seems to be running out of steam, not as good storylines now. It's become so much a part of culture that I'm beginning to think it's in the writers contract for homer to say 'Doh' at least 20 times an episode now.

I don't think there's ever really a good enough reason to bring most cartoons or half hour tv series to the big screen, there's never a very deserving storyline. But about 5 or 6 years ago, the reason, the storyline would've been better than now. But still, adults like this show, children of all ages love the show and will have to see it, thus, children under 8 or so will bring their parents, and practically everyone will see it. Unless the simpsons goes really bad in the next two years, the movie will most like make tonnes of money, eventually breaking the billion dollar mark.

I think it will do well, just as long as it's NOT live-action! I doubt they would do that. I think it was stupid when they did that for The Flinestones. I can't even imagine the Simpsons being live action- just wouldn't be the same.

I remember Matt Groenings interview on Space Ghost, and he said they might do a live action film (this was ages ago though). I actually liked the flintstones film, but I think the characters in The Simpsons are so big, so part of the culture- and not to mention most springfield citizens are yellow- there'd be too much pressure to get suitable actors, and either way- the movie would be compared to the cartooned, and viciously attacked. Also, Lisa's hair, who could do that? If they gave Lisa regular hair- it'd kill the film. Plus, most child actors are annoying- even in dramatic roles- a child playing Bart Simpson would be all over the place. And the voices from the cartoon are so unique as well.

it's already ruined. just looks at seasons 10 - present.

I heard that the secret was it was supposed to be a live-action movie. don't know how they'd pull that off, but it's what I heard over on another board.
