Default If there was ever a Wings movie made

If there was ever a Wings movie made, and the characters could not be played by the actors/actresses that we have come to love in those parts, What actor/actress would you like to see playing the parts?

I see Rob Lowe as Joe.

For Helen -- Drew Barrymore, Kate Hudson, Alicia Silverstone or Reese Witherspoon. Meg Ryan would be perfect if she was younger.

I have to give the rest of the characters some more thought.

Great question by the way.

Lowell Mather: Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Devon Sawa, one of the Hanson brothers, Justin Timberlake or Will Fridle (actually, he'd be pretty good because he plays the voice of Ron Stoppable pretty well and Ron... is like Lowell).

Any other suggestions for Lowell? He has to be blonde and has to play stupid VERY well.

Oh, wait, did I mention Nick Lache?!? Okay, he's not blonde, but he certainly IS stupid...

Matt LeBlanc, with his hair lightened, would be great for Lowell. He plays stupid real well.

Matthew Perry, if he trimmed down a bit, could play Joe well.

Ben Affleck as Joe, oh yeah.

Barbara Barrie would be interesting as Fay.

I can see Brian Corbett as Brian. Kevin Bacon if he were younger.

Mark Addy (Still Standing) or Kevin James, with darkened hair and a mustache could play Roy.

Well, I'm having a tough time recasting the male characters, but recasting the FEMALE characters is a no-brainer:

Helen......Ann-Margret

Casey....Ann-Margret

Alex....Ann-Margret

Fay....Ann-Margret without makeup

Seriously, I don't think that Lowell couldn't be played by anybody else BUT Thomas Haden Church.
Although Kevin James as Roy, I never thought of that, but he is a bit too goofy for the role. I just cannot see Roy hanging up a witch decoration and saying "Let's get a little witchy... witchy... witch-ee-tawwwh!".

There's something else to consider here....Unlike "cartoonish" sitcoms like "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Gilligan's Island" and "The Addams Family" (funny as they are), the characters of "Wings" had real HEART and became "real people" to us....Let's face it, folks, we LOVE these characters! We see them at their best and at their worst, and we STILL care about them (and forgive their faults).
When characters have that kind of an emotional impact on you, you just can't suddenly plug new actors into those roles.

I can't see ANY actors being able to "get to us" the way that the TV "Wings" cast members do!

I think Kevin James could pull off portraying Roy because he's a natural comedian and is very good at sarcasm.

The writers would write him as Roy, so he wouldn't be doing his own shtick or acting goofy like he does in his current role on King of Queens.

I think Ashton Kutcher could play Lowell, just lighten his hair. He seems to have a certain degree of "stupidity" to all his characters.

I agree with that female cast. Now the males

Joe....Tom Cruise
Brian...Bob DeNiro or Bob Denver
Lowell...Gary Busey
Antonio...Sylvester Stallone
Roy...John Goodman

and a bonus...

Lowell's Sassy girlfriend Veronica...Mary Lou Retton

I was going to say something about him doing the role, but he just doesn't LOOK like Lowell. Lowell ain't quite right without the creases around his mouth when he smiles.

Oh... and Ange Faitore should play Lowell's sassy girlfriend, Veronica.
