The Michael character was not a very fun child. Way too serious. What did he do for fun? I recall only one instance where he did something fun; he played basketball.

Michael had lots of fun. Sometimes he sang. And of course he read alot and participated in protest marches. For him, that was fun.

Just be a kid. Being a pint sized adult is no fun, it's boring. He could have played more sports, read comic books, played practical jokes or just done some silly childish things. His character wasn't much fun.

What's a typical TV CHILD? It's a freaking SITCOM. You don't write shows like you would live everyday. And how many sitcoms have you seen where the main focus was the child who read comic books and did childish things. I think you guys are comparing GOOD TIMES to what you would see normally today. Just pretend for a moment that you're living in the seventies and there was no 'Boy Meets World' or 'Cosby'. Watch the movie 'The Goodbye Girl' with Richard Dreyfuss and tell me if that little girl was a normal everyday kid. Films and television back in the day always had at least one child that acted more grown up than the adults themselves. Lighten up! That's entertainment.

He didn't have friends his age, or talk about kid things. That's what I'm saying. And i never found it funny when a kid on TV acts like a grown up. That's just me

I think the reason why Michael was such a serious child was to play off or ballance off the goofiness of his older brother JJ; i adored the Michael Character, he was an excellent role model for a lot of children in his age range; he did well in school and he was articulate instead of the opposite of using slang or being a child with a disobedient attitude towards their elders that you saw a lot of similar sitcoms genres of that time period and beyond...
