Lightbulb Character Discussion - David Addison

Okay, I ask you to forgive me if it appears that I have too much time on my hands...because I do! It's late, I'm bored, and I figured this would be fun.

I'm planning to do a character discussion for Dave and Maddie. I'll just post crap about them, and then you guys can add to it or discuss it. Here goes...

David is probably the most fun television character I’ve seen. On the surface, he’s clever, sarcastic, witty…and sometimes a bit unrefined. But that’s all in good fun, because as the character develops, we see a steady change in his personality…likely caused by Maddie’s intervention.

In all honesty, Dave is a totally believable and lovable character who turns into an even more believable and lovable character once his true, romantic side is revealed.

QUIT TALKING ABOUT ME BEHIND MY BACK!!!!
well, it did sound like me.

good points. dave did grow as the series progressed. i can relate to him better as we are so much alike. i don't take a lot of things serious and i joke about stuff all the time.
best part of the show is character progression. it can be done in a positive way. most shows change their characters and they go down hill. not here.

I agree Lauren, David grows as a person (or we see more of his character throughout the series). He's such a great character. We learn that not only is he the kind of guy who gets drunk in bars, sings too much and limbos in the office, but has real moral beliefs in a God, family, love, the unexplained and perhaps even leprachauns.

We learn that he believes that actions speak louder than words, which is unfortunate as Maddie believes in words and doesn't seem to trust actions (especially like David putting his hand on her behind!)

He is warm, sexy, sweet, flawed, very human, intensely jealous, much smarter than he lets on as well as more easily hurt. He's always also full of surprises and never gets boring...

Thought I'd resurrect this thread as it's an excellent one! Just thought I'd say that I think David is really really well summed up at davidandmaddie.com...

I thought she liked that hand on her behind She didn't walk away right away. She asked him to get his hand from her behind and then they had a cute discussion. I love that scene hehe

Here's the bit from D&M.com that I love and says it far better than I did (thanks Cindy and Diane et al):

"Color the eyes deep green...sexy...heavy lidded. Ruggedly handsome in a tux -- raggedly handsome in a torn T shirt and sweat pants. He could sweet talk you out of your shoes and be halfway out of town before you realize you're barefooted."

That particular blurb describing Mr. Addison was written by Diane Hopkins, the site co-editor and one of the scribes of Virtual Moonlighting. So I cannot take credit for it, other than sticking it on the page.

Glad you enjoy it.... the character pages are some of my very favorite parts of the web site.
